  1. Hi, I have been using emby now for almost a year with no issue, this morning when i went to load content on my Roku showed: connection failed: Connection refused So i logged into the windows machine running the server and attempted to load the server GUI from the tray and received the following error localhost refused to connect. ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED I have attempted multiple server reboots and restarting the emby server. I have also tried removing the system.dll from the emby folder and then restarting the server, this actually brings up the gui with the start up wizard but as soon as i drop the old file back in it will not work. I have attached the log file. Cheers embyserver.txt

    Issue with Chromecast

Hi all, Hopefully someone has experienced the below and knows how to fix it - or it's a bug that can be fixed! Specs: Emby Server 4.1.1.0 running on Windows Server 2016 Chromecast Gen1 running latest firmware Chromecast Gen2 running latest firmware Samsung Galaxy A50 running Android 9 and the latest Emby Android app iPhone 6 running latest iOS and the latest Emby iOS app All devices are connected to the same router/access point and are being accessed over the local network Emby is working fine when playing off of any of the mobile devices, and it works from any device when casting to the Chromecast Gen1, however when trying to cast to the Chromecast Gen2 it brings up the splash screen 'Welcome to Emby - Select Emby Media from your device' - then when pressing play on any media it simply does nothing, when disconnecting from Chromecast and playing the same media on the phone - or on the other Chromecast - it works fine This wasn't caused by the 4.1.1.0 upgrade as it definitely worked after that, but I can't be sure exactly when it started. I found the following from my logs around the time I try to play to the Chromecast: 2019-05-29 23:13:18.848 Error PortMapper: Error creating port map *** Error Report *** Version: 4.1.1.0 Command line: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll -service Operating system: Microsoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True User Interactive: True Runtime: file:///C:/Users/Administrator/AppData/Roaming/Emby-Server/system/System.Private.CoreLib.dll Processor count: 4 Program data path: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server Application directory: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: InternalServerError at Emby.Server.Implementations.HttpClientManager.CoreHttpClientManager.SendAsyncInternal(HttpRequestOptions options, String httpMethod) at Emby.Server.Implementations.HttpClientManager.CoreHttpClientManager.SendAsync(HttpRequestOptions options, String httpMethod) at Mono.Nat.Upnp.UpnpNatDevice.CreatePortMap(Mapping mapping) at Emby.PortMapper.ExternalPortForwarding.CreateRules(INatDevice device) Source: Emby.Server.Implementations TargetSite: Void MoveNext() Any help or advice is appreciated - pretty much ripping my hair out trying to figure out why it's not working! Thanks
  3. New user here. Emby app opens on FireTv. Connects with server. Shows all media, but will not play media, only buffers. Media source is external HD. Emby premiere member as of today. Worked fine for the past 3weeks since installed. Please help.
  4. I have update from 4.0 and now I am having major issues with transcoding videos for playback to a Roku. Nothing in my setup changed other than the emby server update. I have tried to look at the logs but am unable to make heads or tails of them as I am not use to looking at these sorts of logs. Information about my Emby setup Base is Windows 2012 Server R2 1 x 1TB Hard drive 1x 5TB Hard Drive Cache is currently set to a USB3.0 Flash drive (this is a trial item. Was set to a folder on the 1TB hard drive prior.) Transcoding cache is set to a RAM disk. As the transcoding space is temporary and should be quick access I created a RAM disk on my server for the purpose of this. Any logs that would be needed please let me know. If others are experiencing this as well I would like to know. If there is anyway I can rollback my Emby Server version that would be helpful as well.

But after updating HDHomeRun firmware, apparently HW transcoding fails. I should also mention: 1) Before and after the HDHomeRun firmware update, I am able to use the HDHomeRun app for Windows to view Live TV. The app has not been changed or upgraded - only the firmware. 2) Unfortunately, I also upgraded to Emby Windows 4.1.1.0 at the same time. During troubleshooting, I returned the "system" directory back to 4.1.0.26 and restarted Emby. That is my current state with the problems reported above. ffmpeg-transcode-ac14525d-74ce-4093-b3b0-f2fadb2528f5_1.txt

    Re-think desktop app

My experience with Emby on Windows desktop. UWP Emby Theater: 1. Doesn't support client side rendering of graphical subtitles formats hence forces transcoding; 2. Playback of HEVC 8 bit encoded files doesn't start on my Windows 10 PC running Skylake processor with Intel HD Graphics that supports HEVC 8 bit hardware accelerated decoding; 3. I've yet to test it but I'm afraid it might not have full codec support, I'm not sure if this is due to any limitations applied to UWP applications. Emby Theater downloaded from website: 1. Playback of HEVC 8 bit encoded files doesn't start on my Windows 10 PC running Intel Skylake i3-6098p processor with Intel HD510 Graphics that supports HEVC 8 bit hardware accelerated decoding, have to set using external player in Emby Theater; however plays H.264 files fine; 2. When tested on two legacy AMD integrated graphics (pre GCN arch) Windows 10 machines, playback control overlay doesn't show; 3. Works perfectly on my Coffee Lake powered Windows 10 machine with Nvidia graphics that supports HEVC 10 bit hardware accelerated decoding. Web app: codec/container support vary from browser to browser, and doesn't support graphical subtitle formats, although this is expected behavior. Kodi with Embycon plugin: doesn't list custom video library at all i.e. "downloads", "home video", etc. So, the overall experience on the desktop is not quite what I expected. And no, I'm not providing server logs, client logs, file samples since these issues are more than what I feel like dealing with, I'm writing this so that maybe the developers can re-think the desktop app design.
  7. I have been an Emby user since MediaBrowser. I loved and still love how it works with Windows Media Center on Windows 7. My current media server is set up on Windows 7, and I use WMC on my main TV that's hooked to the sever, and a few other TVs in the house. I guess I'm just looking for some advise on what to do now that support for Windows 7 is ending. I'm just so used to the layout of Windows Media Center, and the flawless execution between it and my Windows 7 server set up, that I'm anxious about how to make sure things work for me once Windows 7 is no longer a good solution. Does anyone else on here still use 7 and WMC? Did you used to use it and have moved on to something new and you still like it? I love the LiveTV of WMC. I know Emby now has LiveTV options...but I think I need to buy a specific tuner for that? Is Windows 10 my only option with Theater? What about Linux server? So...yeah...bit of a ramble. I guess I'm just looking for any suggestions or advise for someone who has used a Windows 7 setup through Windows Media Center since original Mediabrowser. The future and change is scary...please hold my hand and help me through it!
  8. I have read as many of the related topics I could find but the answers did not help. A short time ago, all of my X265 encoded videos stopped casting to Chromecast. After selecting the Chromecast, and pressing play, it appears to start, then goes back to "Ready to Cast". I have tried Android app, iOS app, and browser app. I tried reducing the quality in the app settings (Playback>>Chromecast Streaming Quality) to no avail. I have tried several movies and the only ones that cannot play are X265. These videos were playing fine until recently (was there an upgrade to the server?). Have others experienced this? Emby Server: Version 4.0.3.0 Chromecast, 1st Generation Chromecast firmware: 1.32.144770 Emby for Chromecast 2.1.0 Emby for Android Mobile 3.0.42 I do not mind upgrading my Chromecast, but was hoping we could troubleshoot and understand the issue, as it just started happening recently. I have attached the video specs of one of the movies I have been trying to play (tried 10+ this morning to troubleshoot). I have also attached the transcoding log of one of the failures. I did edit the file for "THE NAME WAS CHANGED TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT". Any help? ffmpeg-transcode-8009045a-52ca-43d3-bb7f-ffc476c922e3_1.txt

    Message to user device

Hi, Is it possible to use CSS code to change the background color and the length of time the text message sent to the user's device is logged in? I understand that the time is too short for longer messages and the background is confused with the caption. I would like to have a lighter background color, maybe in red or yellow color. Thanks for any tip.
  10. Emby Server: Windows 10 Version 4.0.2.0 HDHomeRun Connect Firmware 20180817 Emby Clients: LG webOS, Roku, iOS, Android, Windows Chrome Please advise how to manage uncontrolled growth of transcoding-temp file, which apparently will grow until entire disk is consumed.
  11. Hi, I think there is an across-the-board change that needs to be with all Emby player apps. 1) Remove codec and channel layout info from Audio Language drop downs, only display the Language 2) Display Video and Audio codec info (including definition, channel layout and resolution) in a similar fashion to parental rating/closed captions mark. 3) Offer a setting (probably in Display settings) to display Media Info as icons (like CoverArt does) instead.
  12. Hello, I am having trouble connecting remotely to the Emby server on my computer, from my android phone (or any other device). I am able to connect when on my home network, but not off of it. I have gone through the steps in the Connectivity section, to no avail. I have opened port 8096 in Windows Firewall, as well as set up port forwarding for 8096 in my router (using router Asus RT-AC68U). When trying on canyouseeme.org, i get the error "i could not see your service on ... on port 8096". I have checked for other Firewall rules, and found none, and even tried temporarily disabling firewall, and it still won't connect. Also rebooted router and Emby server multiple times after changing settings. What am i doing wrong?
  13. Scheduled recording from Guide on Windows is creating the task. The task creates a folder with permissions: d---rwx---+ 1 Administrators wamcn 0 Jan 30 05:00 'CBS4 This Morning - 5A' The folder is empty. When I open the permissions to all, then the Server shows it as a program in Series, but there is no data. I am wamcn logged in as an administrator. There are no other users on the system. There is one Emby user, me, with all emby permissions. Schedule recordings were working, but began having this problem many weeks ago. Could be some Emby auto-update. 14. Hi, I have a new problem now. When creating a new library (Animations), the contents are in three subfolders within the same folder, however, Emby Server created the same menu three times. Even though I clear the access in two of them, it does not solve, because it maintains the 3 menus. When you open the menus, the contents are correct, but tripled in all. Am I making a mistake? I have two other Movies folders, both with two subfolders each and this problem does not exist.
  15. The Emby Theater app from the Windows Store has the overlay come up when you use the media keys, which is supposed to show the name of the song and then the album artist. The theater app is making it show the artist(s), and then the album artist. This happens with all of my songs, all of which have proper names/titles. Spotify's overlay: https://i.imgur.com/Ws3Jqrj.png Emby's overlay: https://i.imgur.com/YD90HRo.png Otherwise, it works normally. I do notice that the windows store app is quite a bit slower at starting songs, compared to the web UI or Emby Theater from the website. It's particularly slow when starting a song after playing nothing, such as first starting the app or after clicking the stop button on previous media.. If you shuffle your library, an artist, or an album, it usually starts way faster and will skip songs much quicker. Hope this is in the right section. If not, please move it for me. Thanks!
  16. Hey, Using the latest version of emby, how do I tell it to only convert new media? All the old files I have I don't really care about converting them, but new things added I could do with converting. I tried just clicking go but it wanted to convert 1000+ MKVs, and that's just not gunna happen. Main reason for conversion is because the .ASS subtitles are not supported via emby, and transcoding on the fly is a bit slow. I got premiere to test out the hardware transcoding but if anything that's made it a bit slower. Hopefully I can do what I need to do, Thanks!

    Main Menu + Submenu

Hi, Is it possible to create submenu on Emby Server? I explain I separate the collection of movies between Legendados, Dublados and Infantis, but this forces me to have three separate menus in the main menu of Emby Server. I wish I could have just one Movies menu and when the client clicked on that single menu, a submenu would pop up with the movie options; Voices, Legendados and Infantis. In order not to remain doubt, I leave an art, being the Main Menu what is seen in the Emby and the Submenu what would be displayed when being clicked. Thanks for any tip.
  18. So it appears that the upgrade to 4.0 effected a total wipe and rebuild of chapter images. Wow. I'm about 5 hours into a library scan with no end in sight. Not complaining, per se, but I was curious from the technical side what changes necessitated this. I know you rebuilt transcoding from the ground up. What changed in chapter images, etc.?

    Emby admin password forgot

Hi team, I setup password for my admin user login. but when try i login, it didn't accept my passwrord. Hence tried to reset password i got a promt to check for the following location "/var/packages/EmbyServer/target/var/passwordreset.txt". I got the below detail I can see the below detail in the txt file ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://localhost:8096/web/forgotpasswordpin.html Enter the following pin code: 7960 The pin code will expire at 31 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But i remember my Pin, need to reset only password. If i remember correctly i can use the pin to login when i'm inside network but required password if i'm trying to access emby out of the network. Please advise. Thank you.
  20. So first hi thanks for your time ^^ anyway Setup : - Emby server --> windows 10 pro [3.5.3.0] - network --> 4G router from Huawei B525s-23a 4G+ LTE-A CAT 6 Gigabit wifi AC 2 * SMA - Internet Provider --> (French) FREE MOBILE 4G+ 2600Mhz Situation : So i use Emby locally for myself over a CAT 7 and Gigabit TP-Link PCI network adaptor on my phone another computer same situation and a Nvidia Shield (2017) locally no problem my test movie as shown in the picture. Works perfectly no buffer max bandwidth over the LAN. as the pictures show you network wise i have no real bottleneck first a speedtest from the computer the server is installed on then a speedtest from the VPS from OVH i use Plink (putty) to create the bridge between remote connection and request because since i'm on a mobile carrier subscription i've a floating IP therefore cannot forward port on my router then a picture of the network usage on my VPS side so my problem in the end is that even though i can upload up to 40Mbps my VPS can up to a 100 and the test device are my Shield over my Hotspot from my phone that has either way 50Mbps so yeah for some reason it will not go over 10-11Mbps even though the test movie requires AVG of 14.1 if you have any idea of why and how this happen.

    Unable to stream to Chromecast

Hi all, I hope there is someone that can help me. I just installed Emby Server 3.5.3 on a Windows 2012 server. All seems to work fine except streaming to a Chromecast. When selecting a Chromecast on my iPhone it just displays "Ready to cast" and then nothing happens. In the attached EmbyServer log file I started to stream to my Chromecast 20:44 (see also below). For further info, I have also attached two ffmpeg log files. 2018-12-20 20:44:40.496 Info HttpServer: HTTP Response 204 to 10.0.0.63. 22. We have a couple of Samsung TVs in the house, which are not very "smart" out of the box. To solve that problem we have installed nVidia Shield devices for each of these TVs. This solved the problems with the built in functionality. Streaming apps are working perfectly now ... with the exception of Emby. The problem is that the Emby client for Android TV cannot manage a server that is in the Sleep State. I'm respectfully requesting for a feature that can manage the sleep/wake state of the Emby Server (in my case the host is Windows 10). This can be done by: - Sending a WOL magic packet to the server when a client requests a video to be streamed (and the server is in the sleep state). - Keeping the server awake during streaming. Really love the Emby server, as it provides many benefits over its competitors, like Plex, but the absence of this feature really limits its usability in the Android TV space.
  23. Hi, everybody. Did not find a similar question on the forum and created a topic. There is a server on Windows and Emby server installed. How can I change the link from localhost:8096 to localhost:8096/emby ? P.S. sorry for english, I use google translate =)

    Performance grievance

Hi, Currently Emby runs off my QNAP-653A with performance issues as soon as more than one device connects. Example: Apple TV4K playing one of my 1080P TV Shows (Transcoding: 21fps, 4.1Mbps ts H264 ac3 with the QNAP CPU running at 98%) Any other connected device makes it all collapse due to lack of CPU-power. All my network components are enterprise grade (Cisco Catalyst, port trunking for the NAS) and soon my internet connection is 1Gbps so i was really hoping to have the Emby server deliever my shows and movies to me on any device at any location even with my kid and wife watching stuff at home... It might be too much to ask from the NAS so I might install Emby on one of my old laptops (Dell M4600, i7, Nvidia Quadro2000, 16GiB RAM, 256 SSD, 1Gbps Ethernet, e-SATA) but before I proceed: 1. Shouldnt my devices at home play without transcoding? - Apple TV4K - Apple TV4K - Openelec Cubox-i4-Pro - ASRock Kodi on Linux 2. If i install Emby on the M4600 Dell Precision Laptop, how do i get the best performance? Linux or Windows? Will it take advantage of the Quadro 2000 GPU? 3. Should i run Emby on both at the same time? Let my mobile devices use the QNAP, internal devices on the M4600? would this cause any new grievance? Anyway to improve QNAP performance in case i go down this road, if it means typing some lines in putty/terminal thats not a problem... Best regards happy Premium-user since I noticed iOS offline was supported

    Subtitles - cannot get them

I am a newby but I've searched these forums. I know I am making a newby mistake and would like help. I have created a user login in open subtitles and have provided my login name and password in emby. I have (I think) checked all of the correct boxes in each library's settings, but still no subtitles. There are no subtitle files in each recording's folder. I'm attaching a screen grab from my latest recording attempt. Please help! Thanks, Steve
