    Proxmox and AMD integrated card

Hi All, I looked around but can't find a good guide to proceed with transcoding via AMD Processor and integrated VGA. I'm running Emby in a minipc with proxmox (last version), I created new unprivileged container with ubuntu. Installed emby and added all the stuffs (shared folder via mountpoint, premiere license ect..). On the proxmox side, I checked the drivers and checked if the OS can see the GPU: root:/etc/pve/lxc# modprobe amdgpu root@pxe01:/etc/pve/lxc# lspci | grep -i vga 04:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Cezanne [Radeon Vega Series / Radeon Vega Mobile Series] (rev c3) Now I need the remaining steps for add to the container as I tried different guides but no luck.. Someone can help?
  2. Hello everyone, I have a small problem with the transcoding of videos. I have often had problems with videos not running smoothly or not running at all when Emby was running directly on an Acer H340. So I thought I'd try a mini PC hosting the Emby server and connected to the NAS (all via cable). Now when I start a 4K movie with Dolby Atmos directly on the TV, I see that the video is transcoded, but it doesn't run smoothly. If I start the same video on an XBox Series X, it is also transcoded, but the audio track. Is it possible to set Emby so that the audio track is not transcoded? Or how can I tell that Emby wants to transcode the Dolby Atmos track? The Xbox (and according to the data sheet and settings also the TV) should actually be able to do this. 3. Hi all, I'm just not an A/V guy, but I am a computer guy. That said, I'm struggling to understand if I have things set up correctly or not. Here's the setup: Intel NUC running Proxmox, 12th Gen Alderlake, with Quicksync. Emby set up via "Emby Media Server LXC" helper script. Synology NAS back end for the video library, through SMB share in Emby. Followed these directions to expose/pass through the GPU in Proxmox. After I follow directions, I run the following command in the Proxmox shell: dmesg | grep -e DMAR -e IOMMU It DOES come back with a line for "DMAR: IOMMU enabled", so it looks like all is well inside of Proxmox. I try to run the only 4k video in my library, and it stutters the video, making the video choppy, and the sound kind of goes on ahead of the video. ALL other videos run just fine. All other types, codecs, everything. When I run the 4k video, it looks like this in the Emby Dashboard (Apple TV is the username, not to be confused with the client): In fact, it looks the same, "Direct Play" for all video codecs... the only difference is that this one is 4k. So... my questions go back to the fact that I'm not really an A/V guy... I am using an Apple TV model A1625 (32GB), hooked up to an older model 1080p HD (but not 4k) television. I am making an assumption that Emby should be transcoding DOWN to the capabilities of the AppleTV (HD, but not 4k). First, am I wrong about this? Second, in the attached Dashboard screen capture, it says "Direct Play"... does that mean Emby is NOT transcoding? And, yes, I absolutely have all the transcoding checkmarks in the right place... (just a sample, but all below that are checked as well). The fact that these say "Alder Lake" is a pretty good indication that it has GPU access, is it not? So, is my problem that it's somehow not possible to transcode down to the level of my AppleTV and/or Television? (If so, that doesn't even seem right... because what is transcoding for then? (Again, I'm no A/V guy.) I suppose it's worth noting too, that this video plays perfectly in a browser on a laptop, and on an iPhone using the Emby client. In those cases, the Dashboard looks exactly the same... direct play. Well, I hope I've given people enough to help advise me! Thank you in advance! Edit: Attached the hardware detection log for when I play the 4k video. Once you get past the huge block of text at the top, you can start to see some of the other detail, and it look like it's finding the GPU, and not having an issue with the decoding. (But I'm not an expert in how to read an Emby log either.) hardware_detection-63864447408.txt

    Transcoding Temp Out of Control

Maybe someone can tell me why this is happening... My Unraid server crashed today. I'm running Emby in Docker. When I tracked the problem down, it was because I ran out of space on my 1TB cache drive. A little more digging led me to the transcoding-temp directory of Emby which is stored on the cache drive. There were almost 800K files totalling over 500GB of space. The files go back to May of 2019. A large file transfer caused the drive to fill up the rest of the way, and then crash the system. Shouldn't these files be cleaned up by Emby? Is there something in my Unraid/Docker config that could be causing the issue?

    Transcoding Temp Out of Control

+1 I am also having this issue - The amount of space it is using is out of control.

    Settings advise

I haven't got an issue exactly more just looking for some advise on settings to choose I notice the thread count on the transcoder setting is default at auto but conversions it is max? I don't really use conversions so would swapping them be a good idea?
  7. Hi, A few weeks ago, I renamed all my content according to the convention. I also renamed my moves with the right version (4k/hdr/1080p/x265) at the end. Here's an example: /Movies/Fury (2014)/Fury (2014) - 4K x265 HDR.mkv I've also setup to automatically make a low quality x264 copy for devices that doesn't support hevc or for LTE streaming. I used the "Mobile" Profile at 4Mbps Since then, the conversion took the file but added " -mobile" at the end of it instead of removing whatever is after the Hyphen. Ex: /Movies/Fury (2014)/Fury (2014) - 4K x265 HDR - mobile.mkv instead of: /Movies/Fury (2014)/Fury (2014) - mobile.mkv Then, it proceeded to also make a copy and transcode the new file. Now my directory looks like this: /Movies/Fury (2014)/Fury (2014) - 4K x265 HDR.mkv /Movies/Fury (2014)/Fury (2014) - 4K x265 HDR - mobile.mkv /Movies/Fury (2014)/Fury (2014) - 4K x265 HDR - mobile - mobile.mkv /Movies/Fury (2014)/Fury (2014) - 4K x265 HDR - mobile - mobile - mobile.mkv etc. I'm not sure what I did wrong or what logs you need, let me know and I'll edit this post.
  8. Hi, Is it possible to prevent transcoding when the source material is HEVC/H265? Transcoding H264 material is fine for my server, but hevc is causing a cpu meltdown.
