  1. Hi, I accidentally misposted this in the Android TV forum - apparently it is supposed to be in the android mobile forum. I am SO looking forward to having a functional Emby experience... (after many, many frustrations) and appreciate advice/assistance. I recently posted a string of problems related to an AsusStor NAS running server. Most were solved by dropping the hope of running Emby on this device. Now I have it running on Windows and have a great experience with android apps and web apps - except on ONE problematic android set top box! The errors are very repeatable - but I cant grasp what might be the problem. GOOD: Old Set Top Box (AcRyan Veolo 4k) connected via HDMI to Old HD samsung TV 1. Go to youtube - play random video: Result: Video + sound 2. Go to emby (latest via play store)- play SD PCM video: Result video + sound 3. Still in Emby - play 1080p AAC video: Result video + sound 4. Go back to youtube or any other device and play stuff: Result: video+sound GOOD: Playback on Galaxy Note 5 emby app (latest via play store) 1. Go to youtube - play random video: Result: Video + sound 2. Go to emby - play SD PCM video: Result video + sound 3. Still in Emby - play 1080p AAC video: Result video + sound 4. Go back to youtube or any other device and play stuff: Result: video+sound BAD: New Set Top Box (AcRyan Veolo 4k+) connected via HDMI to new 4K Samsung TV UN78HU9000 1. Go to youtube - play random video: Result: Video + sound 2. Go to emby - play SD PCM video: Result video + sound 3. Still in Emby - play 1080p AAC video: Result - EITHER: VIDEO plays for 2 secs then CRASH OR: VIDEO plays for a while with NO SOUND 4. Go back to youtube or any other app and play stuff: Result: Video but NO SOUND *** Only way to get sound back is to reboot android box. *Tried disconnecting/reconnecting HDMI (incase a handshaking issue) - no effect *Tried setting sound output to HDMI (vs Auto) in android tv settings - no effect *Tried playback via Kodi (using Emby plugin) of 1080p+AAC results in video not playing back Veolo Specs: working 4k version problematic 4KPlus version Processor 1.8Ghz ARM A17 2Ghz ARM A53 Ram 2GB DDR3 2GB DDR3 Android 4.4 KitKat 5.1 Lollipop Resolution 1080p 2160P@30hz I tried a factory reset of the box - then fresh install of emby. Same result. The device techs are willing to help but need something they can reproduce - so playback from my emby server is not an option from their service centre. NB - when exploring issues with the AsusStor NAS I installed Plex server/app of this set top box. Plex could stream the same file without issues, and I can view the same files on other emby android apps without issue... so I'm assuming its something Emby App Related... Since other android devices work, I assume it is not likely to be server related. NEW: It looks like Emby uses VLC to playback videos - I can REPRODUCE the crash/sound issue in VLC player as well! But in VLC I can SOLVE the problem: Changing a VLC audio setting however allows everything to playback just FINE in VLC - NO crash, no sound outages. I Need to change the Audio Output setting from 'AudioTrack' (which crashed or kills all further sound on the device until a reboot) to 'Open SL ES' (See attached photo of VLC settings) I cannot find a way to make this change in Emby though - so still playback in Emby effectively kills the device. I downloaded one of the sample MKV files and I can play back the MKV file (with sound, without crashes) in both of the other media players installed on the device! (Stock, and something else that came preinstalled (MX player if I recall) NEW: LOGS Of SERVER and of APP are uploaded - App logs show everything from startup to playing SD file to playing HD AAC file and CRASH. Server logs contain all sorts of other stuff - but rather than try to filter to save somebody time - and then have no meaningful response because I filtered something important - I am uploading the full days' log up to the above mentioned crash. To be clear - the uploaded logs are of the PROBLEMATIC device/server. If my non-technical descriptions are unclear please use the information in the LOGS to clarify. Any suggestions or detailed recommendations very welcome. Its been a few weeks now that I keep trying different combinations of ostensibly supported platforms and run into endless problems. I am about to give up on Emby completely - No home theatre solution should be this difficult to get working Especially not something paid. Thanks! X ServerLog.txt Android5.5MBApp.log
  2. After updating the Emby Theater App on the Xbox One I have zero audio (Live TV, all of my Library's or the Trailers plugin). I have re-downloaded and uninstalled Emby from the Xbox store and tried several restarts but get the same results. I can confirm that everything works on Firefox, Windows 10 Theater App, and the iPhone Emby App. Log

    Audio/Video Sync Problems

Evening all, I'm having audio sync problems when playing through ET's internal player (v2.5.16). I have 2 groups of media; Movies (MKVs from bluray rips) TV (MP4s from bluray/dvd rips) So far all movies have played perfectly. However every time i try to watch one of my TV shows I get 1 of a few different audio sync problems. For example; 1. when playing a Big Bang ep (mp4 from bluray) the audio either starts off perfectly or ever so slightly out but by the time the episode has finished the audio is completely out of sync. (I also had a video issue where movement was ghosting on screen but that seems to have gone after playing with the settings) 2. when playing a futurama ep (mp4 from dvd) the video instantly starts twice the speed to of the audio and continues throughout. If i play these through the web browser there is no problem. I have tried playing with all the ET audio and video settings but nothing seems to solve the problem. Currently running windows 7, my Media Centre is connected to my Onkyo AV reciever via hdmi and then to the tv. I know there are settings within the AV that can help with audio/video sync but seeing as the problem isn't consistent throughout all my media i can only leave these settings as they are. Before i go through and rebuild the whole PC from scratch can anyone shed some light if they have been able to fix this problem. Seems to be mp4 specific. Thanks Chris Before i go through and rebuild the whole PC from scratch can anyone shed some light if they have been able to fix this problem. Seems to be mp4 specific.
  4. I don't know about other containers, but with MKV you can set a track label/title. This is useful with subtitles because you might have 3 english subtitles. Forced, SDH, and full subtitles. If Emby could parse that out and store it, then make that available to clients (and the API) it would really help when choosing a subtitle.

    Emby low audio

Hey all, New to Emby, having a minor bug. Audio when streamed to clients, have been using Kodi 16.01 (tested on 2 devices)(Kodi Emby plugin installed), Chromecast 1st Gen (FW ver. 1.20.66189), and a Samsung Smart TV Series 6 (DLNA), all have very low audio. I would say roughly half volume compared to when they are played via a shared network drive or via direct hard drive connect. (not using Emby). Emby server version 3.0.6400.0 running on MS Windows 10 build 10.0.14393 any help would be greatly appreciated Regards Jayden
  6. Hi, I'm trying to add some random audio files that are not music (downloaded podcasts, etc.) to my library. I've placed them in file structure that logically groups them and tried to add top level folder to the library. I've tried to add it as Video content, as Music content, as "Mixed" content - same issue. No matter how I do it - they will not show up. It looks something like this: ...\AudioContent\ ...\AudioContent\Group1\ <a bunch of .MP3 files here> ...\AudioContent\Group2\ <a bunch of .MP3 files here> etc.. I'm trying to add ...\AudioContent\ to my library. What am I doing wrong? Thank you!
  7. Not sure if this is just happening to my device or if its applicable to other peoples too. I've found a few things I think are related to what I'm experiencing. https://www.amazon.com/forum/fire?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx2L8EBNTOXFSA7&cdThread=Tx2F9AEX67KT6RT https://www.reddit.com/r/fireTV/comments/497zhl/amazon_fire_tv_2nd_gen_audio_issues/ http://www.aftvnews.com/dolby-surround-sound-issues-on-2nd-gen-fire-tv-amazon-working-on-a-fix/ I've been noticing an issue with pretty much any content being streamed to my second generation fire tv box. It dose not seem to be just Emby but also on Netflix, BBC news and a few other media applications. When ever a video is played either the audio dose not work at all or has an odd issue where it'll play normally for around 20 seconds then it'll drop out for a few seconds then come back and repeat the cycle. Its happening with all the containers and codecs I've tried so far including MP4 / MKV -ACC -AC3 -MP3 -Dolby surround Is anyone else having similar issues with it?

    Audio Sync Issue

I'm running the latest beta (v1.2.20a dated 02 July 2016) on my Amazon Fire TV Stick and I have an issue All my Movies have their audio sync out by 3100 (milli seconds I assume). I can resync the audio because there is an option in the player :-) however it is a bit of a bind having to change the delay every time I play a film. As an aside the option to sync the audio is missing from the player when playing TV shows which seems inconsistent at least. Can we have this option whatever is playing? Once I have amended the audio delay for the film that is playing then the audio remains in sync with the video with no problems which suggests the stick has enough power to decode etc. Same movies work fine on the PC either played in media player via the samba mount or using the web client. Also I seem to remember that previously there was an option to set the size of the buffer (in seconds). I wonder if increasing the buffer would help with this issue. Any thought and assistance gladly received F

    Audiobooks

What is the best way to add audiobooks into Emby? I have looked around and it sounds like the best way is to add them as a separate Music library and call it good. This sorta works however there is no resume support at all doing it this way and it also doesn't seem to want to play the next track. Has anyone come up with a better solution? And is there any play for implementing an audio book features?
  11. HI Sorry if this has already been answered but I couldn't find it. I am playing HEVC with 5.1 files to A Fire stick. Only the rear audio channels are going to my telly. How to I force it to transcode to stereo? In http://localhost:8096/web/encodingsettings.html/Playback/Transcoding I dont see anything about audio except boost when downmixing. Or anywhere else. thanks remainz I am just coming to Emby because it can do HEVC on a home server. UG Typo in title sorry. edit wont let me fix the title

    Chromecast Audio support?

Would it be possible to add support for chromecast audio with local video? Where only the audio is streamed and the video continues to play locally. Currently, if you try to send the audio through, you can't view locally anymore.
  13. I have a ton of FLAC that I'd like Emby to stream to my Android device and it's unclear how it's transcoding it. I'd like to be able to: Specify the audio codec used to stream audio to my device. E.g. if I have a tablet with a beefy battery, I'd like to stream Opus, which is a more efficient codec but unsupported by my device's hardware codec. If I'm on my phone I'd like to stick to a safe codec supported by my hardware like AAC or MP3. Specify the bitrate. E.g. if I'm on WiFi, send me the original. If I'm not, cut it down to 128kbps.
  14. If I'm watching a video and pause it for more than a minute, when I try to resume it the audio restarts but the video never resumes. The only way I can get video working again is to stop the video and fast forward to the point where I paused it. The server is a dual proc Xeon X5660 @ 2.80GHz with 96GB RAM on a RAID 6 array, so I don't think it's a resource issue. The client is an Nvidia Shield. My only guess is that there is something going on with trans-coding on the server end. From what I can tell unfortunately everything is being transcoded on the server end despite the fact that the shield can handle it. How can I troubleshoot this issue or what info can I provide to obtain assistance?
  15. Emby team, You were able to do this in Emby for WMC, was hoping you could in Emby Theater, also. Right now Emby Theater shows the first audio track when you pull up the info page for a movie (in my case the 2-ch AAC track). Would prefer it to display the track that is marked as default (in my case the second 6-ch AC3 or third 6-ch DTS audio track). Thanks!
  16. I'm new to Emby Live TV feature and loving it so far. Sorry if this was asked before but after a search nothing came up. I'm in Spain using a HDHR tuner (HDHR4-2DT) connected to the antenna to tune free to air channels in the DVB-T system. With digital TV we now have the option to choose different audio tracks (ie: spanish, english) and also subtitles (I think is similar to close caption in the US but not exactly the same). Question is: does Emby support to select different audio tracks from a live tv stream (I couldn't see any option) and also to enable subtitles? If yes, does Emby need to have guide data available to support it or it should work without it? Thanks
  17. Hi, When I try watching a tv show from my collection on emby's web client, I only get speech audio from the right speaker, but the laugh tracks and background music play through both speakers. The audio is also noticeably softer (lower volume). When I try watching the same show through emby's windows client (emby theatre), the audio sounds just fine. This makes me think that transcoding is doing something to the audio which it shouldn't, but I can't figure out how to resolve this issue. Is there a way to fix the audio issues perhaps by changing the transcoding options somewhere? I couldn't find any way to change transcoding parameters neither would I know how they should be changed to fix this audio issue. Thanks. {"Protocol":"File","Id":"672bad259f19493ff72c57c421292508","Path":"/mpool/tvshows/Show/Show Chromecast Audio Question

Hi, Rather than replace my car head unit with an android one, I was thinking of fitting my old one with a Chromecast audio and hotspotting it with my phone. Would this work? If it does would it play synced audio or would it default to playing a server copy? Would be great to be able to play flac directly in the car.
  19. I can get 5.1 from my Fire TV via Kodi and Netflix, but all I've been able to get from the Emby app is stereo. I see posts indicating it is possible, but I can find any settings in the app or on the server side.

  22. Transcoded audio sounds wrong, almost like reverse stereo. I can't really explain it. This happened before a long time ago on 3.0.5238.39498, and it went away with an update. I just noticed that its doing it again on 3.0.5724.3 I don't want to make a new video, so I will link my old one. I just tested the video file featured in my example clip and it's back to sounding wrong. See video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIiFOblQ6UA Media info for the source file that was demonstrated in the video I linked - as detected by media-browser: (avi) <streamdetails> <video> <codec>mpeg4</codec> <micodec>mpeg4</micodec> <bitrate>826041</bitrate> <width>624</width> <height>352</height> <aspect>16:9</aspect> <aspectratio>16:9</aspectratio> <framerate>23.97602</framerate> <scantype>progressive</scantype> <default>False</default> <forced>False</forced> <duration>49</duration> <durationinseconds>2951</durationinseconds> </video> <audio> <codec>mp3</codec> <micodec>mp3</micodec> <bitrate>128000</bitrate> <scantype>progressive</scantype> <channels>2</channels> <samplingrate>48000</samplingrate> <default>False</default> <forced>False</forced> </audio> </streamdetails> </fileinfo> Media info for the video I tried to play today that had the same audio issue: (mkv) <streamdetails> <video> <codec>h264</codec> <micodec>h264</micodec> <bitrate>3451213</bitrate> <width>1280</width> <height>720</height> <aspect>16:9</aspect> <aspectratio>16:9</aspectratio> <framerate>23.97602</framerate> <scantype>progressive</scantype> <default>True</default> <forced>False</forced> <duration>21</duration> <durationinseconds>1277</durationinseconds> </video> <audio> <codec>aac</codec> <micodec>aac</micodec> <language>eng</language> <scantype>progressive</scantype> <channels>2</channels> <samplingrate>48000</samplingrate> <default>True</default> <forced>False</forced> </audio> As you can see, there's no correlation between the two formats. However, some video files exhibit this issue while others do not. All play fine from WMP/VLC/MPCHC/Direct Playback in chrome.
  23. Emby Theater Version 3.0.5686.19243 Audio Bitstreaming Mode set to HDMI is not working at all for any movie (all mkvs) and sometimes it works whenever it feels like it, wierd. The error message "There was an error processing the request" comes up. When I change the bitstreaming mode back to default it seems to be working perfectly fine every time I try to play a movie, not sure what the problem is.
  24. I have a problem where audio slowly loses sync behind the video, which I thought was unusual (as opposed to audio getting ahead, which is more typical). It starts to be obvious after about 5 minutes. If I skip forward and then skip back in the player (or vice versa), the audio and video will jump back in sync. So far this only happens with 29.97 video combined with 2 channel AAC audio. It doesn't happen with any other audio (2-5 channel DTS, AC3) or video, although I don't have any 24p/AAC files to test with, nor have I tried 2-channel MP3, uncompressed, etc. I have tried various combinations of player and mixer settings, and none seem to have any effect on the sync problem. However, I don't really understand how all these settings work, and I couldn't find any good documentation on them. If you have any suggestions, please let me know! My settings:
  25. I have noticed that with anything I play in Theater (movie or tv show) the video and audio are out of sync. The video is always a few seconds behind the audio. I'm currently running windows server Version 3.0.5641.4 and theater version 3.0.5651.20234. Is there anything to change in the settings? Log
