    SAMI (.smi) support

I am really enjoying the subtitle fix implemented this update. Would it be possible to also include support for .smi subtitle format? It seems ffmpeg does support this file format. From my research: As of version 1.2, ffmpeg will decode the following subtitle formats: HDMV Presentation Graphic Stream subtitles JACOsub subtitle MicroDVD subtitle MPL2 subtitle PJS (Phoenix Japanimation Society) subtitle RealText subtitle SAMI subtitle SubViewer subtitle SubViewer v1 subtitle raw UTF-8 text VPlayer subtitle WebVTT subtitle DVB subtitles DVD subtitles MOV text SubRip subtitle with embedded timing SSA (SubStation Alpha) / ASS (Advanced SSA) subtitle SubRip subtitle XSUB

  4. will there be EVER a standard setting for external srt subs on android / atv / lg tv?? ever?? I wrote that already 100 times it's so ANNOYING to ALWAYS select. 100 times!!! UNBELIEVABLE I'M WRITING THAT AGAIN. how to keep your user busy? do it like that.down up up enter down down down down down enter EVERY 20 min watching big bang. for every single pice you watch. every time. always. is it so hard? you offer a service to download srts server side!! and even then they are not selected in standard!! this is the worst grade in ui/ux and it's like this for at least 8 years you implement so much xxx for what do I know but playing videos (your core core CORE functionality is some kind of vlc was better 10 years ago. not to mention, more sub sizes between small and normal or size settings in the player... sometimes you have to press down 30 times!! because sure, the own srts are ALWAYS the last entries really really bad!! imho
  5. I just noticed something about subtitles on my system: there are some very very strangely named ones: It's possible these have been around for a long time - I have no idea when this happened. Any idea how to clean this up?

    No subtitles

Hi, I run latest AppleTV and latest Emmy app on that, against an Emmy server on my Synology NAS. No problems to see movies or TV series. Movies works great with subtitles but not TV series. I have made sure the subtitle has the same name as the tv series episode. They are in the same directory. One directory per episode. I don't get the subtitle menu on the page of the episode, before I start the episode. I don't have Premium, is that necessary?

    Subtitle problems

Good morning, I'm relatively new to Emby. I am encountering the problem that I cannot find/download subtitles for a certain series via the Emby app on my Google TV or via the Emby app on my Android tablet/phone, but it works fine via the web version of Emby. My setup: -Qnap with Emby Server 4.8.3.0 installed in container station -Emby premium account -OpenSubtitles setup correctly in both the Open Subtitles settings and in the library settings from the series and movies. -Open Subtitles VIP member -Automatic download with Sonarr/Radarr/SabNzbd As mentioned, the subtitles work well when I go to the web version of Emby (http://*****:8096/web/index.html#!/home), but the subtitles do not work via the apps. What am I missing? TheChief
  8. In the subtitle downloads setup, there is an option 'Skip if the video already contains embedded subtitles'. It means literally that the download will be skipped if the video has embedded subtitles no matter in which language it is. I think it's better be 'Skip if the video already contains embedded subtitle that matches the download language'. Because many videos contain embedded English subtitles.

    Subtitles folder

Hi, I switched from Plex to Emby recently and I have one issue. With Plex I was using Subzero and Bazarr for getting my subtitles and both were downloading them in a folder named 'subtitles' in the same location of my video files. And Plex detected them but Emby doesn't. Anyone knows if emby has an option for that? I really dont want my subtitles file in the same folder than my video file and neither in my server's metadata folder. Thank you.
  10. I activated the open subtitles plug-in and added my opensubtitles.com account information and since then I have been getting multiple copies of subtitles for each episode of my TV shows. Some shows have up to 26 39 copies all sequentially numbered. Is there some setting somewhere to limit the number downloaded? Did I mess up some setting somewhere? Any help is greatly appreciated!
In May of this year, Sonarr Raddarr Emby was built, and overall it was great. But what bothers me is the problem of getting subtitles.Newer episodes have a hard time getting Chinese subtitles quickly. So I developed a download tool that automatically downloads subtitles docker hub: https://hub.docker.com/repository/docker/allanpk716/chinesesubfinder github: https://github.com/allanpk716/ChineseSubFinder Unlike other Chinese subtitle download tools, this tool relies on the IMDB ID to work and requires basic scraping to be used. That is, file names need to be standardized. I was considering making it an Emby plugin, but I read the discussion in the forum that if you don't have the Open API interface to get data, it's not suitable to put it on the shelf. So it just runs on its own. Welcome to try, the purpose of the tool is simple and crude automatic download, the setup is simple enough. Tools are still being developed to increase the level of automation and speed of search. Suggestions can be made here, or better yet, GitHub Issues. 12. I would suggest to add the possibility to filter the library by languages, i.e. - Allow to filter for the audio and/or subtitle language. Regards Max ( Request taken from a former github issue: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/1782#event-982356301 )

    Subtitle

Hi, Can I read somewhere what the different modes means, or can someone tell me the one I am must interested in is "smart"?
  14. The Edit Subtitles context menu option on a Movie Collection item presents a Search for Subtitles dialog. It appears that the Filename, instead of the title and year information from the Media item, is used to perform the such. This results in non-matching items, due to media file naming conventions conflicting with the opensubtitles provider. Further, it would be useful to be able to upload a subtitle file in this dialog, as an alternative.
  15. After investigating my lack of subtitles, I found that my opensubtitles free account no longer existed. I registered a new one with the same email address and verified it. I can now login to the website and search for subtitles there. However, updating the login credentials in the plugin still fails to produce subtitles. My embyserver log shows an HTTP error 520. Is anyone else getting this? Looks like either they've blackballed the API used by Emby or the plugin needs an update. default to external subtitle

Is it possible to set my external subtitles to be the default? I see that I can set subtitles to always be on, and I can set a particular language as the default. Most of my mp4 movies have graphic subtitles in them (dvdsub), and for lots of them I also have external subtitle files (srt, sub). If I have an internal english subtitle and an external english subtitle file, it seems like Emby uses the internal as the default (the attachment is from the bottom of Emby's WebUI for one of my movies). Is there any way to set a system wide default to say "if there are external & internal subtitles for the default language, use the external subtitle"?
  18. I would love the ability to increase the size of subtitles on the different platforms, specially android, chrome and roku... One additional thing that would be great would be the ability to change font color, outline, drop shadow, font background... Thank you
  19. Does it support external PGS (.sup) subtitles? If not, are there any plans to support it?
  20. I just add to my friend an emby on his TV so he can watch my server. The app is connected and movies are well played. But each time movie is played with 'und' subtitles (the local file of subtitle on the folder of each movie) the emby played with English somehow. Tried to close the app and open again, but still. From web browser it's working well.
  21. Hi guys, I can't turn off subtitles in the Emby App. It says "No subtitles" in the settings and I can select "Off" in the Subtitles while playing a movie but subtitles will not disappear. I tried to reinstall the app (1.09), didn't help. If I stream the same movie from the Web App to the same TV, then I can turn off subtitles in the TV settings (maybe I could say WebOS based settings) but I would like to use the app on the TV only. Do you have any idea? Thanks, Marci
  22. My TV is Samsung Q9FN (2018. model) updated with the latest firmware. I'm currently on (latest beta) Emby Server version 4.8.0.12 beta (but the same problem occurs on previous versions) and I'm using Emby For SamsungTV version 1.0.85 because this is one of the last version which doesn't have the annoying problem with 30-day trial period. ASS subtitles are working totally correctly (font size is wrong but that is not a problem, that has been corrected in later versions) - attachments with prefix OK. Problem begins when I install any new version of Emby For SamsungTV after 1.0.85 (last I tried version 1.4.2) - ERR attachments: 1) subtitles don't occur in the first 60 seconds of play and then all of them"unwrap" in a blink and after that the subtitles are showing normally. If you switch the subtitles the problem occurs again (1minute of nothing and after that they are OK). SRT subtitles are OK. 2) subtitles have the problem with Central European letters (lowercase č,š and ž). This special part of the letter (above letter) is shown in front of the letter instead above the letter - the problem is shown in an ERR picture. The rest of lower case special letters are OK and all uppercase letters are OK. I tried different versions of Server but the problem only occurs on newer versions of Emby For SamsungTV. Every version I tried after 1.0.85, and I tried 4-5 versions, have the same problem. I notice that there were some "Various ass/ssa subtitle fixes" on version 1.0.89 and latter... 23. Hi all, I am not sure if anyone has noticed, but I've found that the 3-letter country codes / language codes do not really follow a standard (I may be wrong). It is most obvious in the section "Filters", where emby automagically only displays languages that it has ingested into the library by from the imported media. However, there are obvious dual entries for one languages: deu - ger for German fra - fre for French ice - isl for Icelandic Possible other overlaps that I can think of (just that my library does not have any media to support it): hun - mag for Hungarian / Magiar fin - suo for Finnish / Suomi chi - man for Chinese / Mandarin Since the developers cannot foresee ALL codes that may ever be used, there should be an interface in the Settings: Codes Language to map to de, deu, ger German [ger] fr, fra, fre French [fre] ice, isl Icelandic [isl] [+ add new entry] This may be made easier if there is a DB online that provides codes for languages (like IMDB does for titles tt* and names nm* etc.). Thank you all for your support. Roodee
  24. They seem to be encoded the same. Plex will play them both. (Plex is pretty much garbage at this point and is slow. I dont want to use it anymore .. but I dont know Japanese.) 25. Hi, can we have the fabulous shadows as option for subtitles in this magnific app, too? I prefer the yellow subtitle style and in the case of a bright or white background it's a little bit hard to read. The shadows would be generate are small dark frame around every single letter to improve the readability. So would it be possible to avoid a full background for the sub and get a better readability at the same time. Thx for consideration.
