Background Plugins, extensions and integrations make an important part of the Emby ecosystem. Plugin development is open to everybody and many great plugins have been created by Emby community members. To show our appreciation for the great work and achievements of community developers, we took steps in order to improve in an area where we haven't done that well in the recent past: Developer Support. When talking about support, there are several different facets to evaluate and consider. We probably did fairly well when it was about responding to user questions - but not that much when it came to providing accurate and up-to-date information, documentation and code examples. Emby SDK It has been just about time to make a change to that and over the past months we have intensively worked on improving that situation. Hi All, so, I have Emby for several years, after I head Plex for some time before then. In another thread here someone asked me if I used Sonarr and Radarr... I had no idea then what they were. So I first peeked at it, then looked at it, then I felt overwhelmed by what it all requires. I sidelined it for several months, before I thought to try it. Again, I was dumb-struck by what it all requires (indexers for example). I did have Emby, and I like that it recognized my movies even though my naming scheme was nothing like what Emby recommends (> Movies , > TV-Series). Mine is, more or less, movies/<year YYYY>/<movie name>.(<year YYYY>).some.other.info.like.res.or.language/<movie name>.some.other.info.like.res.or.language.<ext> TV shows are much more in disarray. So I installed Radarr, after I had decided to use debian as base-OS for the VM. And I thought Radarr would help me with my movies. Well, I had to correct my opinion really quick, I don't think it does help. Not with movies I already have. It might help with new movies, but I does have to test that. Not to get stuck on a specific problem, I added Sonarr. Then I understood, I will not get very far without an Indexer. So, I looked into NZBHydra2. I did like the looks of it, but then I decided to use Prowlarr nonetheless (at this point I purged this VM and started a new one from scratch, start from square one). I was lucky to get into drunkenslug for free, added Binsearch (free), looking at nzbplanet right now. I added Whisparr as last one of the Servarr package, I am not sure I need the others. I then added a headless qBit, and I started using it, just to test it. After some issues with it at first, I am quite fond of it now. As part of my DLNA troubleshooting, I had set up another VM along the way with Jellyfin that serves the same movies as Emby. Lastly, I added SABnzb. I had an Eweka subscription for some time, but it was dormant. I have to say I am used to download usenet article by article, and have some windows tool assemble it all. If the tool fails, I just kick the entire download. But I basically did not use nzb-files. That was years ago. (I first downloaded from the usenet in the first haf of the nineties,) Planned, but not implemented, it JD2. I have to say that I am not done at all. Populating Prowlarr with indexers helped to get all the other populated as well. So, without adding any connections or dataflow, this is my setup: I must admit I have not used the whole "Arr-"chitecture yet. Not once. I usually look at what is "hot" and "Top" on the trackers, I look at IMDB for similar movies to one I like or movies from an actor I like. How do I get Radarr or Sonarr to match my path-Setup: Radarr: Year/Movie Name (Year)/Movie file.ext Sonarr: Series Name/Season #/Series Name E##S##.<episode name if known>.ext Whisparr: <Genre or Keyword>/Movie Name (Year)/Movie file.ext How do I get Radarr to help my identify what is hot on a tracker? How do I get qBit not to lose track of where the data goes after it was completely downloaded? How do I get Sonarr prefer full seasons over single episodes? Has anyone else here a similar software-setup and perfected all the settings and the "inter-software-communication"? Can you help me with my issues? I would love to hear from others! Cheers, Roodee

Hello, can you please clarify if there is more than one codebase active for Emby Server? Or if it is true that the work done in https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby has been moved / continued to/in https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases ? This request is to get clarity about the product(s). While reviewing this security advisory: https://securitylab.github.com/advisories/GHSL-2021-051-emby it showed up, that the NVD has set this CPE cpe:2.3:a:emby:emby.releases, while other existing CVEs have cpe:2.3:a:emby:emby for the server. According to NVD this is due to the assumption, that different codebases / products might exist. Can you please share some insights on this topic? Thank you in advance Oliver

Hi Lads, I've installed the plugin and it works fine but I don't find the radio I've got in the TuneIn website/app. I tried to search by "search tab" but i didn't find the station and i tried also to change location. No way. Anyway, I tried putting my user and latlong in the tab and searching folder to folder my favorite station with no result. Is there any solution to "import" the urls/fav from TuneIn web/app? Thanks!

Wann kommt endlich die Emby App für Samsung Tizen TV für Deutschland / Schweiz /Österreich ? Es ist sehr mühsam die App jeden Monat neu zu Installieren!!! Klar ist das eine doofe Restriktion von Samsung für externe Apps wo Emby nichts dafür kann, aber es müsste mit Samsung eine Lösung gefunden werden ! Also, haut hier in die Tasten und schreibt eure Meinung dazu, dammit sich endlich was bewegt........

Dear all, I'm a newbie on Truenas scale. I used to use Emby server on Windows platform without any issue. I installed a new server with TrueNAS-SCALE-22.02.4 and emby application. I did the initial setup, i think with success, because the content of my library stored on a dedicated Dataset was identified and stored in the Emby server database. I can then play and search content in my library from any Emby client without trouble. BUT : there is no way for my emby server setup to deal with any new content stored in my dedicated Dataset after that first scan. New folders under that dataset or even only new files stored in a well recognized folder on the first scan is ignored, even after manual library refresh. I don't know what to do. My "volume dataset system" for the video content is named : BIBLIOTHEQUE-01 and has a dataset under it named SERIES My emby server application is configured with "Emby Server Host Path Volume" to /SERIES and "Host Path" to /mnt/BIBLIOTHEQUE-01/SERIES. My emby server folder configuration is set to : /SERIES Many thanks for your kind help. Stephane.

Hi Uninstall Xml TV plugin. i had the same problem. it looks like the plugin is giving the problem. When you uninstall it you will not have epg( Tv Guide working) or images. Hope that it will be fix soon. Best Regards

Hello, im using a Enigma2 receiver with OpenATV 7.x. I created a *.m3u8 from the OpenWebIF-Plugin. (see screenshot) If i copy the m3u8 file to my Synology DS720+ and add it in Emby as a M3U-Tuner, i can´t see any channels. On my Windows 11 Computer with e.g. VLCplayer its working just fine. Can someone tell me, what am I doing wrong? Thanks

Hi ich hab einen Emby Server auf meinem DS218+ laufen und würde ihn endlich gerne von außerhalb erreichbar machen und auch mit SSL. Mein Syno ist bereits von außen über eine Synology DDNS erreichbar, wie auch die VS, die ja durch den Emby Server ersetzt werden soll. Doch leider kann ich trotz sämtlichen Tutorials den Emby nicht mal über HTTP über meine Domain von außerhalb oder auch innerhalb erreichen.. Getestet hab ich dies mit der aktuellen Androide-App von Emby (Außerhalb wie auch innerhalb des eigenen Netzes). Zudem kann ich aus irgendeinem Grund den Zertifikatspfad auch nicht angeben, bzw. der Emby Server akzeptiert den Pfad nicht, egal wie ich ihn schreibe. Und über die Lupe verschwindet jedes Mal die Ordnerstruktur, sobald ich in einen zweiten Ordner gehe.. (Siehe Bilder) Oder benötige ich damit dies überhaupt funktioniert Emby Primere???? Bin langsam ziemlich ratlos.. embyserver.txt

Hello. I have been using Emby as a Premiere user for some time now with the server installed on a Windows 10 PC as my previous Synology NAS did not support the Emby Server Package. I now have a shiny new DS1821+ and would like to move my Emby server over to that. Is there any way to migrate the database over? I have used all UNC paths in the existing server so the paths should be the same. I also have another issue though which I might need to resolve first? For some reason I can access the new Emby Server on the DS1821+ using https://IP address:8096 but I have a proper domain configured and have redirected the port 8096 in my router to point to the new IP address of the NAS. But for some reason I cannot connect using the actual https://Domain.ca:8096. The page just times out eventually saying it cannot be found? It does seem to take quite some time before it times out though. Prior to setting up the new DS1821+ I was able to connect to my PC Emby server with my domain.ca:8096 but I had the 8096 port forwarded to my PC instead of the NAS. Any help on either of these 2 issues much appreciated. Edit: I just tried to connect using "https://my external IP address:8096". It would not work if I preceded it with "https" but seems to work fine once I removed the "https". Though it comes up as "Not Secure". I am sure this is related to why I cannot connect using my "domain.ca:8096" Thanks. Carl

Hi, nutze eine Synology DS720+ mit EmbyServer (App, nicht über Docker). Habe diese gestern manuell mit der x64 *.spk Datei geupdatet und nun habe ich keinen EPG mehr. Den EPG beziehe ich über easyEPG über Docker. Die Sender über mein Zattoo-Account, welches ich über Telerising eingebunden habe. Das läuft einwandfrei. In der Emby-Log sehe ich auch, dass die EPG-Daten gefunden werden, blos nicht angezeigt werden. Außer bei 2 Sender. Habe die XMLs nochmals neu über das easyEPG-Script gezogen und danach den Server neugestartet und manuell die EPG-Daten nochmal einlesen lassen. Pfade überprüft...stimmt wohl alles. Aber EPG wird einfach nicht mehr angezeigt. Embyversion ist die "emby-server-synology7_4.7.6.0_x86_64.spk", Synology hat DSM 7 installiert. Ansonsten ist Docker, Telerising und easyEPG auch auf dem neusten stand. Hat da wer eine Idee, warum das plötzlich so ist? Habe mal im Anhang paar Bilder und die Log. Emby Remote Playback always buffering after server moved to DS920+

Good Day, I tried searching around but I am having issues after moving my Emby server from my PC to the Synology DS920+. I have a few friends that I allow remote access to my server to stream my content and it worked amazingly when it was set up on my PC. 1080 and 4k worked great. However, after moving everything to from my PC to the Synology, remote play has been extremely slow and buffering all the time. For someone to get uninterrupted stream they have to decrease the playback to 720 at 3Mbps. I am unsure what the issue is and below is all the software and hardware information. (Server streams fine locally on my network, its causing problems with outside networks.) PC (Use to run great on) i9 9900K 3.6 Ghz 32GB 3200Mhz Ram 2070 RTX Nvida GPU External 10TB HDD shucked to internal for storage 7200RPM NAS Synology DS920+ 24GB Ram 2x Seagate IronWolf Pro 16TB NAS Internal Hard Drive HDD 7200RPM (32TB) Internet VerizonFios 1G Speeds with a constant 800mbps Emby v4.7.5.0 Router has a 10Gbps LAN connection in which is what the Synology is hooked up to, I added port forwarding to the Emby Ports on the router to ensure outside connections didn't get blocked. I used Docker to install Emby on the Synology NAS device. As I type this, there are two people on my server trying to watch something and the CPU is sitting at 8% usage and the RAM is at 6%. I am unsure what other information is needed, but I am hopeful in working with the combined knowledge of the Emby form to lead me down the right path. Thank you very much in advance for your time. -
Hi, I have 2 tv-shows in my library that somehow doesn't get metadata downloaded. If I go into Metadata Editor (both for the show, season and episode) I can see that Emby has the right ID for the show on thetvdb.com and IMDB, which both has at least some text descriping the specific episode. But the text doesn't get downloaded into Emby. The shows are named like "show name S01E01 episode name", but I have tried without episode name which didn't make any difference. The episodes are located in a folder named "Season 1" which in turn are located in a folder named "show name". I have tried to look at the log files, but as I don't know what to look for it is not easy. Does anyone has any idea on how I can fix this issue?

Maybe this is a bug, maybe it's a setting that's causing me problems. I don't know. Hopefully someone can lend me a hand. So - often when I am going to be gone for several hours, I turn the Android TV on for my dog. He stays more calm if I leave the TV running. I've got several playlists that should each take several days to complete, full of reruns, or movies, or what have you. But sometimes, (like today) I come home, and everything is just *off*. I have no idea when it suddenly shut off, or how long he was sitting here agitated and the like - but it does explain why when I checked in on the pet camera while I was in the maternity ward with my son a few hours ago, it looked like he had gone to sulk by the door or something rather than relaxing on the bed like he usually does when the TV is on while I'm out. He may have also howled bothering the neighbors, that's been a thing that happens when I dont run the TV when I'm gone for a while in the past. Hopefully not this time - but in other houses I've had neighbors complain about him howling when I leave him alone without the TV on. I tried to access the android logs per the instructions, but I hit an access denied when I went into Android/data. So I don't have any logs at the moment. If it's a bug and you need the logs to help figure out why it's happening... I dunno. I guess I'll have to get an old laptop hooked up to the TV and set up a network share and use VLC or something for the rest of the week and try to fix it before the next time I need the TV to work when I'm not home I guess. But I would prefer to not have the dog panicking in the house while I'm at the hospital. So if there's a way for me to fix whatever is going on and make it stop happening on my end and you know the cause (like if it's some sort of Netflix style awful-shutdown-timer - but one I can disable) - please let me know how to fix it. A few years ago I found Emby, and I began encoding my thousands of DVDs and Blue-Ray into a personal family library that we could all share, wherever we were in the world, whenever we wanted. I started with a few quirks and questions, but eventually I got it setup smoothly on a headless linux server, with a domain name of its own, for easy access, and a premium license. Today, I finished encoding the last disc in my library. ~12TB of movies and shows. I've received high praise from my inlaws because how safe they know the ratings and categories I've set up are for their kids. It has been a marvellous success, and worth the time and money to do. What with all the 'corporate' services now pushing to groom and abuse children. Thank you Emby Team. You have my thanks for making such a wonderful piece of software. Keep up the good work. Don't go the political route. Stay concerned with the user and experience. -
Is there a way to disable watched media from being purged!? I just noticed that I no longer have media in TV Shows I watched awhile ago no longer showing up in my list of TV Shows when trying to find them in emby. I also looked into my external HDDs and they're no longer there either, is there a way to disable this from happening to other media I've watched in the future!?

Hey folks, new guy here. I’ve found myself tired of Plex and their growing issues and happened to stumble upon Emby and I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve seen so far. I’ve done quite a bit of research on some of the differences and what not but I’d love to hear some tips and tricks, and your overall experience with the differences especially if you’re a previous Plex user. Hey guys, I was previously able to connect remotely, I have upgraded my phone in the last 6 months, but I was sure I'd connected since then. In any case; - ports forwarded on router. - remote connections enabled in emby settings. - installed port mapper plugin / restarted. - toggled port mapping on and off / restarted. Still no dice. Any ideas? The log is empty during the periods on mobile / off WiFi, no attempted connections logged. Screenshots attached.

The audio in the lg smart tv emby app is inverted. By default it is Spanish but the audio is heard in English and when you switch to English you hear Spanish, only happens in the LG smart tv app on PC and mobile I have no problems. In the image to the right first is the English audio and then the Spanish is the one that gives problems all that have that order give problems. In the image on the left I do not have problems the order is Spanish first and then English.

Is there a way in the web app to set a collection view in the latest media section just like there is for Latest Movies and TV Shows!? And if not can option be made in the next update?

I just bought Ember for Emby from the Microsoft store and it shows the purple splash screen then closes, several seconds after opening it. I am running it on the same computer I have my Emby server running. I've tried repairing it, resetting, and uninstalling and reinstalling which did not resolve its behaviour. Any ideas why it is doing this. My server works fine from Edge or Chrome prowsers and from my android app on my phone. ???

Playback freezes every 10 minutes or so - using Emby 4.6.7.0

I have a weird problem. Some days I can watch movies for 6-8 hours without a problem. Other days, Emby on Samsung (Tizen) freezes playback after 10 minutes - and to fix it, I have to 'wake up the pc' by pressing a key on the keyboard/moving the mouse every time 10 or so minutes has passed! - love the exercise but after 8-10 runs I get tired Notes: The PC is not at sleep, not hibernating, screen saver is turned off etc. For some reason, Emby goes to sleep and 'wakes up' if the mouse moves / keyboard pressed. Google yields no solutions. Using Emby 4.6.7.0 Emby for Samsung 1.1.06 on a Samsung Smart TV (UA49RU7100KXXA). Connection between TV and PC is a Wifi router - Netgear AC1750. Strong signal. Running Emby as a service via via NSSM - the Non-Sucking Service Manager (nssm 2.24-101-g897c7ad (2017-04-26)). Thinking it could be related to certain file formats or the NSSM service perhaps, but then again that does not explain why it does happen all the time. Last movie played has these characteristics and then it Emby froze. Nothing out of the ordinary (many other movies do the same)... Any help / troubleshooting appreciated.
