Beginning with updating Win11 on my machine yesterday, I can't connect to my server WITHOUT changing the Windows firewall app setting for EMBY server to public. It has nothing to do with the clients, routing or further circumstances. The whole profile is still set to "private", but "embyserver.exe" MUST be set to private and public, to connect from my LAN /24. Nothing changed on the machine but KB890830+defender update, KB5045935 (net-fw) and the KB5046633 patch. The background is yet still to be examined. The reason I write this topic is that I find myself wondering why I'm the only one with this problem as far as I can see. Anyone else?

I searched but couldn't find a similar request. If one exists with or without all of the options below then please lock this one and point me in that direction. Now that all users are required to login with username and password at least once on each app/device it would be nice to have the option to use a one time password (OTP) for the initial login on any device but mainly TV apps and streaming devices where it's difficult to enter long strings. It doesn't need to be limited to initial login but should at least allow that. 1. Allow any user who is already logged in to an app or browser to generate a one time 4-6 character OTP for themselves to enter on a new app/device in order to login on said app. This would only log them into their account using the single OTP. 2. Allow an admin account to generate an OTP for any specified user to login. This would be useful for Emby admins to help remote users, particularly those who have difficulty with apps and on screen keyboard-remote combinations. Or to help household users while away from home... 3. The generated OTP would be associated with the corresponding user, either self or assigned by admin. No need to enter or select name on the app login screen, the OTP would suffice. 4. The OTP should be created with a short time to live, either fixed or configurable. I don't know enough about Emby Connect to suggest how it should/could work for those users. EDIT: Evidently Jellyfin has a similar feature called Quick Connect but I don't know if it also has the ability for admins to generate codes.

Hi folks, My desktop PC is connected via displayport to a nice big 4k monitor. It's also connected by HDMI to a small "mini monitor." The 4k monitor is also used as one of my work monitors (fed by an HDMI cable from my work laptop). During the workday, the 4k monitor is pretty much full time used for work purposes, and I generally use the mini-monitor if I need to do a quick email check or whatever, but once in a while I need to do something on my personal desktop with the larger montor and wind up using the monitor buttons to get it to switch inputs. My problem is that when I switch it back to the work computer, my desktop PC bleeps a bit and then resizes windows that were on the 4k monitor and generally makes a mess of things. I'd rather that the desktop didn't even notice when the monitor is switched away for work and back again. I am well aware this is a quirk of windows that it doesn't have a built-in way to tell it to ignore monitor connect/disconnect signals. On my main Emby system I have for years used a box of some sort on the HDMI line to isolate the PC from any signals of turning on/off the receiver and TV. So, given it's almost 2024, is there some simple Displayport intermediary connector of some sort I can use so that my desktop PC won't notice the connect/disconnect whenever I switch back and forth via the monitor buttons? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello. I have been using Emby as a Premiere user for some time now with the server installed on a Windows 10 PC as my previous Synology NAS did not support the Emby Server Package. I now have a shiny new DS1821+ and would like to move my Emby server over to that. Is there any way to migrate the database over? I have used all UNC paths in the existing server so the paths should be the same. I also have another issue though which I might need to resolve first? For some reason I can access the new Emby Server on the DS1821+ using https://IP address:8096 but I have a proper domain configured and have redirected the port 8096 in my router to point to the new IP address of the NAS. But for some reason I cannot connect using the actual https://Domain.ca:8096. The page just times out eventually saying it cannot be found? It does seem to take quite some time before it times out though. Prior to setting up the new DS1821+ I was able to connect to my PC Emby server with my domain.ca:8096 but I had the 8096 port forwarded to my PC instead of the NAS. Any help on either of these 2 issues much appreciated. Edit: I just tried to connect using "https://my external IP address:8096". It would not work if I preceded it with "https" but seems to work fine once I removed the "https". Though it comes up as "Not Secure". I am sure this is related to why I cannot connect using my "domain.ca:8096" Thanks. Carl

Edit.: Problem solved?!, but I don't know what was wrong, what went wrong. Hello Sir or Madam, I received an invitation for a private Emby server. On a laptop computer, easy , I go to https://app.emby.media then I enter my username and password, I click on the icon or logo of the private Emby server, and that's it. On the LG tv, I went to the app section, I typed emby in the search, found Emby app and installed it. When I launched the app, there are 2 options: 1)copy a PIN number to https://emby.media/pin or click a button to generate new PIN number. 2)second option is manual connection, asking for IP address or URL of host and port number is set at 8096. The owner or sender of the invitation to private Emby server won't give me IP address or URL, said I only need to copy the PIN number to https://emby.media/pin . I turned on the laptop computer, went to https://emby.media/pin then enter the PIN number. I exited the LG app then launched the LG app again. Still the same screen with the 2 options, PIN number or manual connection. I uninstalled the app then reinstalled and launched, same screen. I tried with the internal web browser of the LG tv, I typed https://app.emby.media , it redirected to https://tv.emby.media , and it had the same text as the app = 2 options, PIN number or manual connection. I typed https://emby.media/pin in the internal web browser of the LG tv, I entered the PIN number. I refreshed the https://tv.emby.media webpage, still the same text with the 2 options. I launched the app, also same text. What to do? Edit.: I uninstalled for the 2nd time the LG app then reinstalled it, launched it, copy the PIN number, opened the internal web browser of the LG tv, typed the PIN number on https://app.emby.media , then went back to the LG app, the screen of the app reloaded itself , a new screen appeared with the logo/icon of the private server, I could finally access the private server .

I don't see anyone else having issues so I figured I'd ask. I'm trying to automate the process of creating a user and linking said local user to an emby connect account. I'm successfully able to create that local user but I'm struggling in my emby connect implementation. Using curl I either get "Exception of type 'MediaBrowser.Common.Extensions.ResourceNotFoundException' was thrown." pr no response at all. Neither of the cases results in a successful emby connect link. Any help would be appreciated.

I log in with emby connect on app.emby.media on Firefox. I try to add a server, but when I click 'connect', it shows me the following error: https://i.imgur.com/fesyi4G.png This used to work, but a few weeks ago my public IP changed and I had to add the server again. Explicitly connecting with my IP address as the URL works fine, for both local and public IP. Today I figured out that it does work fine in Chromium, so there must be something wrong with Firefox. Both on linux. Server is on a raspberry pi. I added a copy of the debug console as an attachment. console-export-2019-10-3_19-26-57.txt Things I've tried: disabling all of my addons manually restarting Firefox in safemode (which among other things disables all addons) Tried the same thing in Windows: Edge & Chrome work fine, but Firefox (in or out of safemode) doesn't. What can I do to fix this? EDIT: I don't know what I did, but after weeks of this not working (and trying a couple times a week), I could suddenly add a server again. I have no clue how this happened. EDIT2: I edited the title now that I know the problem has something to do with https and not because of Firefox.

I am running emby server at home and all devices can connect via the Lan. We are planning to visit family overseas and would like to access the server, either via the web client, iPad or via a Shield TV. I know that Emby Connect on my mobile phone (android) works as I can test this by disabling the wifi connection and just using mobile data. What I would like to do is test Connect on the laptop, iPad (no modem) and Shield before we travel (rather than attempt to troubleshoot after we arrive). Current restrictions make accessing another network difficult and so I am trying to test by adding the devices onto a separate subnet (192.168.xx.xx rather than the default 10.xx.xx.xx) so as to connect via the external interface of the router. After some editing of the settings I was able to run checks for Plex on the laptop, but am having no success with Emby (I have tried disabling the laptop firewall, but it did not help). I can login to my Emby connect account on the web. When logged in I can see the my emby server but cannot connect if I enter external address of the router (either as DDNS or IP) I cannot connect I know that the laptop can see the external address, as running ping or tracert on the DDNS name gives the (current) external ip of the router. When I try to connect there is nothing showing in the server log files. Is there anything else I can try, as noted before I can connect to plex 'remotely', but not emby.

Hi guys i'd like to bring up the topic of Chromecast auto reconnect, i noticed that someone had mentioned this in a feature request but that was in 2017 so id like to reopen the topic. currently when i Chromecast from my phone it connects and the remote works as intended however if i was to become disconnected from the Chromecast by means other than using the disconnect option E.g. closing the app or getting disconnected from the wifi for what ever reason, currently the app does not automatically reconnect to the Chromecast. i would suggest that the app be given the ability to reconnect to the Chromecast automatically, in addition to this i think if you where watching a TV show that after a few episodes of inactivity from the remote (the users device) that it would ask the user if they are still watching

Whats happening: On android the user chooses to Connect with Emby Connect, next screen opens she enters the correct username and PW then clicks connect. Immediately returns to the previous screen to choose connect with Emby connect again. Repeat. repeat. Thanks Jaden

I'm setting up a new box with Kodi and Emby and found out that, when using Emby Connect, the plugin seems to "forget" the login details every time it starts. It asks to log in every time then. 2019-09-10 20:26:04.176 T:3850568576 NOTICE: EMBY.entrypoint.service -> --->>>[ EMBY ] 2019-09-10 20:26:04.177 T:3850568576 NOTICE: EMBY.entrypoint.service -> Version: 4.1.14 2019-09-10 20:26:04.177 T:3850568576 NOTICE: EMBY.entrypoint.service -> KODI Version: 18.4 Git:48c0b53aae7b0647d1f5a0a9cdb6ad5b1ebb9407 2019-09-10 20:26:04.187 T:3850568576 NOTICE: EMBY.entrypoint.service -> Platform: Linux 2019-09-10 20:26:04.197 T:3850568576 NOTICE: EMBY.entrypoint.service -> OS: CoreElec/1988MB 2019-09-10 20:26:04.197 T:3850568576 NOTICE: EMBY.entrypoint.service -> Python Version: 2.7.16 (default, Sep 7 2019, 02:36:38) 2019-09-10 20:26:04.208 T:3850568576 NOTICE: EMBY.entrypoint.service -> Using dynamic paths: False 2019-09-10 20:26:04.209 T:3850568576 NOTICE: EMBY.entrypoint.service -> Log Level: 1 When logging in: 2019-09-10 20:27:12.502 T:3607085952 NOTICE: Emby.emby.core.connection_manager -> Begin connectToServers, with 3 servers 2019-09-10 20:27:12.503 T:3607085952 NOTICE: Emby.emby.core.connection_manager -> testing connection mode 2 with server Media.Server.net 2019-09-10 20:27:12.504 T:3607085952 NOTICE: Emby.emby.core.connection_manager -> tryConnect url: http://{server-ip}:8096/emby/system/info/public 2019-09-10 20:27:12.558 T:3607085952 NOTICE: Emby.emby.core.connection_manager -> calling onSuccessfulConnection with connection mode 2 with server Media.Server.net 2019-09-10 20:27:12.675 T:3607085952 NOTICE: Emby.emby.client -> User is authenticated. I have the http route redirect to https with a reverse proxy, Since I'm on the https of 'https://app.emby.media' the client sends a request to: 'http://foobar.media:8096/emby/system/info/public' which results in a 'Connection Failure'. It should automatically default to https, not http when calling the 'system/info/public' route.

All of a sudden I can no longer get into Emby?? When I start Emby in windows 10 it shows 2 unknown users. 1-computerguyiptv and 2-doom. I have no idea who they are? When I try to log in with my credentials it doesn't recognize my account. I first noticed a problem when I was trying to access it on Roku and it showed my server name with addition info after that "LIVETV VOD AND MORE". I have no idea where that came from either?? So........what should I do to resolve this without losing all my media? Thanks in advance.

Hello emby community, a few weeks ago, I was trying to connect to my chromecast 2 wired to my router via the "official micro usb to LAN adapter" from google, but I couldn't find my chromecast within the emby iOS App. Strangely I was able to find my chromecast within the YouTube iOS App. Then I set up some port forwards in my router to my chromecast, which I found online... (ports: 1900, 5353, 8008, 8009). This didn't help either... Then I tried to connect via WiFi, which immediatly worked. I also reseted my chromecast to default and even tried all this with my older (also reseted) chromecast 1, where it didn't work either, so the issue must be with the Emby iOS app. Connecting my iOS device to my chromecast with LAN worked a few weeks ago (but with problems too...) but now it doesn't work anymore. Did anyone notice this issue too or what can I do to connect my iPhone to my Chromecast via LAN again? Could this issue maybe come with an Emby iOS App Update? Regards Jones

Hello, I am having trouble connecting remotely to the Emby server on my computer, from my android phone (or any other device). I am able to connect when on my home network, but not off of it. I have gone through the steps in the Connectivity section, to no avail. I have opened port 8096 in Windows Firewall, as well as set up port forwarding for 8096 in my router (using router Asus RT-AC68U). When trying on canyouseeme.org, i get the error "i could not see your service on ... on port 8096". I have checked for other Firewall rules, and found none, and even tried temporarily disabling firewall, and it still won't connect. Also rebooted router and Emby server multiple times after changing settings. What am i doing wrong?

I just bought an HDHomeRun Connect (HDHR4-2US) and when I try to use Chrome on the sever to watch it, it gives an error about not having any available tuners. When I use Emby Theater on Windows 10, it just sits there forever. I attached the logs and both have the same error in transcoding (which it shouldn't even be doing): [mpeg2video @ 0000000001d54e80] Invalid frame dimensions 0x0. I have verified the HDHomeRun Connect is working fine through HDHomeRun VIEW. On the box, it shows a checkmark next to DLNA (but obviously won't transcode). Both machines (server and client) are both capable of direct streaming it so I'm not sure why it is trying to transcode at all. The server should also be capable enough to transcode having an Xeon E3-1230 v3 (Intel QuickSync not supported) and Radeon HD 5570 (UVD2). I attached the logs. Greetings to the Embysphere! I am trying to get Emby Connect working through my pfSense firewall with no luck thus far. I keep getting the error "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." I've read the tutorials and it simply ends up with (paraphrase) "Forward a port through your firewall if you can't get this to work". Having worked in the network security field, I'm not comfortable with simply forwarding a port from the internet through to my nVidia Shield. So my questions are: 1) Has anyone else gotten Emby Connect to work through their pfSense firewall? (Plex actually works with no issues, but I frankly don't like Plex), and 2) What kinds of things typically prevent Emby Connect from working ? Thanks in Advance! edit: Added error message

So I don't know if this is the right place to put this but here goes. I am the admin for my family's server and am not able to connect one local user to their emby connect account. I have even gone as far as to remove the local account and readd using by attempting to invite the user by both emby connect username and the email address they used to sign up for emby connect. No matter which way I try to add the user the server always pops up with the following message There was an error adding the Emby Connect account. Have you created an Emby account? Sign up at https://emby.media/connect. If you're still having an issue, please send an email to apps@ from the email address used with the Emby account. I double checked that the spelling was correct for the email address by attempting to sign up with the same email I was inviting and it would say that that email is already in use. Checking the username, in the same way, yields the same result. I have been able to add other users both before and since first attempting to add this particular user. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hi Emby users and devs! I've been using emby for about a year and I have been unable to find the source code for the emby webapp anywhere! is this code available? does it have a license? where can I find it? Thanks.

hello, i accidentally had a typo in my server admin's emby connect username, so it may have sent an email confirmation to the wrong person. i have since corrected the issue by fixing the emby connect username, and clicking the confirmation in the confirmation email. do i need to worry about the errant email that was sent out? what will happen if another user got that email and clicks it to connect to my server? thanks

I'm new to Emby. Everything works perfectly on my server. I can even use Emby in a browser on my server. But when I try to connect via Roku (or Apple TV) I cannot get past the Emby Connect step. After I enter my PIN, a spinning wheel pops up and spins indefinitely. The Apple TV also claims it tried to find my server on my network but failed. There's no reason I know of that it shouldn't have found my server. They are on the same network, and I have no fancy network setting or setup. Anyone else have trouble here, or know what I need to do?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is a bug or not... but, I have tried to add email addresses to user accounts (including mine), but Emby Connect is not recognising them. Usernames work fine though. Any suggestions?
