Hello! First of all I love Emby. Was a Plex user before but changed sometime ago. My problem is that I am trying to connect to our home server (same router, but wifi) with our LG TV and the usualy screen shows up. MY SERVER | ADD NEW SERVER | EMBY CONNECT When I click on Emby Connect and add the pin on my phone the app on the TV starts thinking then just goes back to the home page. When I click on my previously manualy added server it says cannot connect. When I check my WAN settings and manualy add the server it works fine till my IP changes again. The wierd part is that Emby mobile app works like a charm even when I am out of the house and using mobile coverage. "Stream to" option DLNA shows my TV but doesnt work in other homes when I try to connect my phone to the TV this way. Thanks for your help in advance!

I have been an Emby user since way before it was rebranded to Emby. I have come to love Emby Live TV, and I sadly only recently found the plugin VirtualTV. I have been a Samsung TV user for a long time as well. But I have noticed Samsung TVs are stupid slow and buggy. I have also noticed Emby for Samsung in the Live TV section is horrible. 60% of the time, I get Incompatible stream even though it works fine on the web client, and about 15% of the time I play even a mp4, I get the same error. And with VirtualTV, it's probably more like 95% of the time. The interface is slow and laggy, etc. (not trying to dog emby here - I am referring to the Samsung TV and Emby both). My question is for those of you that have used multiple brands and types of TVs, which one would you say works best with Emby Live TV? It looks like the major contenders are Android TV and LG. Would love some input since we are building a house and likely to be buying new TVs!

This can be deleted. After doing an update and a couple restarts, Chromecast with Google TV is working at the moment.

I am using the Emby Server app on my Android phone and connecting to it using the Emby app on my LG TV. However when I try to play the content, I get the "No compatible streams found error". Also, in DLNA when I try to play the video it shows the error "Your device is disconnected". embyserver.txt

Hey, just a quick one. would it be possible to upgrade the LG app store (webos) to allow the enhanced view on home screen like you have in the google playstore? also not sure if this has been done yet or not but would we also be able to have theme videos to play on the enhanced screen instead of when you press the movie poster to view the full details ?

The audio in the lg smart tv emby app is inverted. By default it is Spanish but the audio is heard in English and when you switch to English you hear Spanish, only happens in the LG smart tv app on PC and mobile I have no problems. In the image to the right first is the English audio and then the Spanish is the one that gives problems all that have that order give problems. In the image on the left I do not have problems the order is Spanish first and then English.

I have noticed that there is no WoL option on the LG Smart TV app. In order for me to watch movies on my TV I have to physically visit the machine to turn it on or use my Smartphone to WoL. Is this something that's been overlooked and is in development or are there any plans to implement this in a future release? I anticipate (and appreciate) your replies.

Hey guys, maybe I'm missing something but I have no way to filter content the same way I could natively on my LG OLED Emby app or the android mobile app. The filter button exists but has next to no filterable criteria. I'm particularly finding the way content was set to be handled for the Android tv app. I understand through researching prior posts a lot of changes were made at the requests of users; however, these should be optionable not global. I wanted to filter mixed media content by file type as if I do play from here and the media type changes it fails to load if the next media is for example an image instead of another video. This happens on mobile and LG as well though. The difference is I can set a filter for mp4, mov, etc. Only on those devices and be fine. On my shield I can only filter by play state, favorites, 3D and resolution. In some folders I can sort by metadata like studio, genre, parental rating or year but still no media type filters. Is this just missing or was this intentionally removed? The app experience on Android TV is so strangely different than the other apps which are pretty unified. Lastly, videos can be sorted by runtime but it only sorts by shortest to longest with no reverse sort. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

So I've had no problems with Emby until this night. Two of the films I have on my PC is in "MKV" format. I have no idea if that's the issue or not. Playing them with Emby on the PC works fine, subtitles and everything. When I try to play it on my LG TV, the media does play but the loading icon is still there as seen on the image I've inserted. When I click on play/pause it goes blank for a couple of seconds and plays it again without the loading icon. But instead the player itself gets frozen. The time remaining and how much time has gone doesn't change and the subtitles doesn't load. Now I wouldn't care about this issue if I didn't need the subtitles. But unfortunately, the films/shows I have is in a foreign language. What's the issue? Is it the TV/Emby app not supporting the codec of MKV? Thank you in advance!

Episodes at the end, a message with timer comes up with info about next episode and cuts off the current episode so you never see the end. The only thing you can do is press exit before the timer runs out

Videos not playing correctly whilst converting DTS-HD/DTS:X to DD5.1
mike3231 posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Hi everyone, My first post here so I'll try my best to include as much detail as possible. Here is my Lounge home theatre setup: Nvidia Shield (2019 Tube version) > LG TV (GX) > Sonos Arc (via HDMI 2.1 eARC) The Sonos Arc and LG GX are both new to me but one thing I didn't realise when I purchased the TV is it unfortunately doesn't support DTS in any format and neither did the Sonos Arc (until a recent update) so unfortunately my Shield needs to convert DTS (in all flavours) to DD5.1. But certain videos fail to play properly. They show green screen with artefacts and stuttering and isn't watchable, however the sound is fine. I can see on the server that it is transcoding the audio as expected and the server doesn't seem to be under huge load. Server is Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB RAM and SSD as boot and transcode drive with GTX 1660S for hardware acceleration. It can happily transcode and convert HDR to SDR (on my bedroom TV) so audio shouldn't be a problem if it can do this (pretty heavy!) task. I know that there is an Emby app for the LG TV and one of the troublesome videos does appear to play as expected with converted audio so I do think the issue is the Nvidia Shield. This is the only other supported player I have that can test all the various things such as Dolby Atmos with the Arc other than the Shield. However, the Shield goes into a HDMI Matrix which goes to 3 other TVs around my house so I don't want to stop using this but am happy to upgrade to the Shield Pro if it'll make a difference. Has anyone else had the same issue with their Shield or can offer anything else to try. Happy to suggestions but please don't say ditch the Shield for built in apps as its required for other areas around the home via the HDMI Matrix. NOTE: converting DTS (all flavours) to Stereo doesn't seem to affect the video. Just when converting to DD5.1. Thanks, Mike -
Hi, after reading some posts and trying what was suggest I do have some progress, but some errors still occurs. I am using LG TV Emby app to play media from a Raspberry Pi 4 Emby server (ver. 4.6.0.2). My router is TOTOLink A3700r and media is playing via LAN cabel (not wireless). I unchecked transcoding video and now media is playing faster and better, but still it doesn't play with no interruptions. This is the direct stream info dialog: I have such issue on 2 files which I currently have, both are hevc hdr10 and have 6 channel ac3 audio which should be transcoded to 2 ch audio for my LG TV. I checked my raspberry pi machine and it looks like CPU is in normal temperatures and usage. My user setting is to transcode only audio because of this 6 channel audio files. I set Internet streaming bitrate limit (Mbps) to 300 In transcoding I enabled Throttling, enable HDR tone mapping and set Audio boost when downmixing: to 1 ffmpeg-directstream-c823d3fa-0725-4992-b410-d054a1a8c1b8_1.txt embyserver.txt

Official Emby app on LG WEB OS 1.4 keeps crashing after around 30 mins
pinmemoo posted a topic in LG Smart TV
It direct plays from my pi4 server running piOS. The server is fine since I can even play fine on the TV's built in web browser and browser on laptop. However, the app keeps crashing at around 30 mins every time and has to re-launch the app and resume playing. Some sample scenario, I got some cartoon to play normally for 1 episode which is 20 mins and when it plays the next one automatically it crashes around 5 mins in. Had to relaunch to continue playing and it repeats every episode. I thought it's something to do with playing multiple times in one boot cycle so I test with longer movie after reboot and again, crashes at around 30 mins into the film. Both of those files are x264 and TV app reported direct play. DLNA works fine but it doesn't remember watch history which is unfortunate. It delights me to find Emby on this old LG TV but Plex, Netflix even basic web browser on the same TV doesn't have this problem. Is there other more stable app to side load or any other way to use my TV without getting new playback box? -
Hi all, I have a few users reporting that once they access Emby they cannot select a movie. When selecting something, it will attempt to do something, but only the "scrolling" animation shows. I ran a debug. I can confirm the user in this debug is logged in. But I dont actually see where the their attempt to access a movie shows in the activities. I attempted to test offnet, VZN LTE, using my phone to pull movies. I personally never had a problem. Can someone review at their leisure convenience and let me know what the issue is? Please and thanks! DEBUG_03262020.txt

I am already on server v4.0.2. I recently updated the LG TV Emby App to the latest and it was working fine. Today none of the devices work (LG TV, Samsung TV or any Web browsers). In the Movies Library home screen on a PC browser, clicking the "..." settings button allows you to select the library view : Which then pops up the selection screen: This is really useful feature. However, it is missing from the Emby LG TV app. That is, "Group items into collections" tick box (highlighted in the above screenshot on a PC) is missing on the LG App. When will it be included in LG TV App ?? Thanks.

I just discovered Emby App on my new LG B8 TV. So, I downloaded 4.0.1.0 Emby Server and installed the pkg on my OMV Debian server (4.17) running on HP Micro server N40L (low perf CPU). Very easy. Added a handful of movies to a test library (again easy to do). Emby app on the TV shows the added movies. When I select one movie, I can see the default audio (TrueHD) and default subtitle English SRT (embedded in the .mkv). When I play it, I noticed that the Emby server dashboard is showing "Direct streaming" but also transcoding and the server load is around 36%. No subtitles are displayed. I re-rip the movie and make the subtitle an external SRT file and call it ?????.eng.default.srt. Then select it in the Emby App, it plays the movie with the subtitles and importantly, there's no transcoding taking place. The question is, why is the server (or the App) asking for transcoding to be done for embedded subtitles ?

LG TV App - Always request profile/user login when launching app
Jaans posted a topic in Feature Requests
x/post from https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/53854-request-profileuser-login-when-launching-app/ We user the LG TV App to access our emby server. Please add an option to require users to sign in every time the app is launched. I realise not everyone would want this, but if it is a setting that we could enable that would be awesome. Not all the members in our household remember to navigate the app to switch to their user account. Consequently, the media and already watched tracking statistics are getting messed up. We have two problems here. The first not able to clearly see which user is currently signed in, and the second is not asking the person viewing which user profile they should be using. Another great improvement would be to easily mark an item as NOT watched from the app and vice versa. -
I recently started to clean up my libary and make it more DLNA friendly. It seems I have now broke it. As before this update I was able to browse DLNA movies and now I get an "Unknown Error". My folder structure was: Braveheart (1995)\ Braveheart.mp4 Now: Braveheart (1995)\ Braveheart (1995).mp4 Braveheart (1995).jpg folder.jpg movie.xml I used an application called Media Center Master to clean up the folder names and get backdrops. My goal is to have a nice folder structure and file naming scheme but also have pictures and a good DLNA presence. Hi I've updated EMBY server recently and have no access to movies files from LG TV. I mean I can watch movies from two folders, but when I want to watch the movies from different folders - I get an information: Unstable Connection. Strange, but other from other folder don't have such information I restarted EMBY, synchronized all library - no change. Is it something with new EMBY version? I can add thta there's no problem with those folders when watching movies with web browser. Thanks
