Need Loads Help With Setting Up My Server On My Lenovo Chromebook or Pixel 4xl
mtc86 posted a topic in Android Server
So I'm trying to set up my emby server since my window laptop no longer receives updates, bc I'm broke and really can't afford the new windows 10 software at the moment, but anyhow I'm needing a lot of help apparently, so any and all will be much appreciated. I have used Plex for about 7 years and just purchased the Emby Premium subscription two days ago. Since then I've tried to set up my server on Pixel 4xl and my Lenovo Chromebook c330 (I believe is the model) and it's 32 bit. So first, I wanna say I would really love to set it up on my chromebook seeing why that's why I got it in the first place, before I realized that Plex doesn't offer software to set up servers on Chrome OS. I'm not familiar with Linux really, but I have managed to install a app once before using commands, I may of "flipped a flag" or two before also. Anyhow, I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if Google is just a difficult company to work with when it comes to companies like Emby and Plex to get working software outside of the Play Store for Chrome OS or what. The fact there isn't an easy download & install option, such as there is for Windows, to use for Chrome OS without having to change some major settings on a device is ridiculous. In saying that, I'd still love to set my Emby server up on it. Second, I've somehow managed to install a server on my Pixel 4xl but can't get any of my other devices to connect to said server by either the manual connection option or the Emby Connect (is that what it's called? Can't recall to be honest) or whatever the other option is called to connect to a server is called. I can't seem to even get to my dashboard to add other users, I was about to get to the community pages (obviously) via browser. Anyhow that's my prob at the moment. I'm really wanting to achieve my goal in seeing up this server bc, well I'm tired of casting my library to my Chromecast with a plain user interface to view my media, and I don't like throwing money away, even if it was just $6. Again any help would be appreciated, I apologise for the lengthy post, but wanted to try to get in as much info into this thread as possible. Thanks Mr.MC- 6 replies

I have having recording failures. Sometimes its 40 min, sometimes 15min. The server reports stream server closed connection. and it retries, but gets 403 error. and quits after 435ms. I've been running Emby Premier for around six months with no issues. The other day I tried to connect from my Android device and it wouldn't connect. I finally got around to trying to troubleshoot and I'm not able to make any headway. The localhost:8096 doesn't load in either Chrome or Firefox. I tried downloading and installing over my current sever. I have tried restarting the service and rebooting my computer. Should I do a clean uninstall and then reinstall from scratch? I run Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS I'm not sure where to start. Any ideas?

Blu-ray folder: it doesn't identify the language of the audios and subtitles.
Juan Simón posted a topic in Linux
Emby server v4.3.1.0 Arch Linux I have added several blu-ray folders and although Emby identifies them correctly, it does not detect the language of the audios and subtitles. -
Premise Emby is a media server which manages a media collection so the user does not have to do so. Basis for Feature Request Part of managing that collection is conversion to modern, appropriate media types that utilise better codecs, better encoding techniques. Presently people do most of this outside of Emby. Discussion The underlying tool being used for conversion is ffpmeg, see attached log. What I would like to see is an Advanced Conversion page which exposes some of these options to allow people to better manage their media conversion requirements. Then save these settings into a user-created named profile which can be exported or imported. This profile is then be applied it to a folder or file in the metadata of their collection. Doing so would initiate a conversion process with the settings of that profile. Benefits Current conversion options are limited. The Original Quality setting gives you files with 3MB/s bitrate from any source. Exposing more advanced options would allow the user to define specific conversion requirements and save them for use in their collection. The ability to export/import settings opens up a whole new class of community support. Conversion profiles can be shared between members and it is quite likely you will end up with a subculture of conversion expertise. As one person rightly said "giving advice on encoding is a lifetimes work" so its the community themselves who can do it best. Given the development of profiles and settings in a community of like minded people these can filter up to the Devs on which advanced features can be included in future releases. Reputation Given the right interest and gradual development Emby could easily become known for the best media management of all its competitors, something to distinguish itself in a competitive market. Devs Encoding and developing of such really is a work of passion. So its could easily become a pet project of some Dev to put together an advanced conversion page internally and slowly test out the options. Support Advanced encoding options are really out of scope when it comes to support. The core product does what it needs so if a forum is created for Advanced Conversion then right up front can be disclaimer that use of non standard profiles is at a users own risk. On the other hand, Emby devs working with the community are likely to develop some included advanced profiles that are supported when used for conversion. Thanks for listening. ffmpeg-transcode-a0dd4aa0-cce4-4e99-9e36-76d7599cc2e1_1 (4).txt

Hello guys! I have a monthly Premium plan hired and today a message appeared below where I insert the registration key saying You have a Monthly Emby Premiere plan, but you are over the limit of the device. My question is: How do I know HOW MANY devices above? How do I know which ones were charged this month to find out in the future how many additional devices I will have to hire? Thank's for now.

Hello guys!!! I need help handling the API with blocked users. I'm using PHP (cURL). I need the API to bring only the necessary information (whether the user is blocked or not). The list currently shows for all users, but I need to filter this information. Can anyone help me with this?

This may be a straightforward question, but is there a way to export all of the watch dates for each media by user (definitely movies, but TV shows would be nice as well)? If I remember correctly there was a database we could manipulate.

I gather that square brackets are ignored when identifying movies? Could we also have an option that when enabled, it also ignores the normal ( ) brackets as well. I have a lot of foreign films in my collection and they're named with both the english title and the original foreign title in brackets... E.g. English Title (Foreign Title) (1980) (Almost) None of these identify when scanning so i have to manually id them, editing the title in the search to remove one or the other title (it usually works with either). This is a chore, especially for me who's had to rebuild the library a few times recently due to hardware failures and upgrade. Ignoring the brackets would also help with those movies with (Director's Cut) in the title too... This should then mean that almost all the films would ID automatically, which is always our goal.

Updated to 4.4.1.0 on Nvidia Shield and now can't access server
Beefy Banana posted a topic in Android Server
After getting prompted to update in the web app, I went and downloaded 4.4.1.0 and did so and now the server won't stay active, as soon as I close out of the Emby Server App, and try and access it either through the web app or the player on the Shield it isn't there. When I go back to the Server app again and open it, it starts up suggesting it had crashed. I've rebooted the Shield etc and still the same behaviour. Was just wondering if anyone else was having an issue with this update or whether is it just something local to me. I've kept the previous installer so I could try rolling back? -
I have Emby Server running on an RPi3, working well: the RPi3 is plugged right into my router the RPi3 has a static IP a 4TB external HDD is attached to the RPi3 via USB all is well My question is there any advantage to defining the "Optional Network Path" when I add my libraries? I've read the wiki, and it seems to be saying that setting an ONP when you add a library allows apps to bypass the Emby Server and access the files directly --- but when I access my Emby Server on Kodi, or the android app, I seem to have direct access to those files already. My questions are... What am I missing about how the ONP works? Does setting it at the time you add a library somehow make playing the media faster? Thanks!

Duplicate [Feature Request] Comment bellow the movie.
CyberPoison posted a topic in Feature Requests
Hi everyone, I have a other ideia for embyweb and emby apps, i would like than emby devs develop a way to post comments on the movies and store the comments as (Self Hosted) . So if someone have previously whatched the movies he/she can comment thought (Nvidia Shield,Android,iOS,WEB,etc...) and then we can reply but the whole thing self hosted. This is a e.g (Footage of my feature demande ) (Hosted in emby means -> Hosted in my Server "SelfHosted") Kind regards EDIT: Also i forget to precise but this feature need some moderation tools or be moderated by default by Emby Server "Self Hosted" like ban url, (Just something to eliminate all potential wrong use of this) or not clicable links etc.. (Basicly a tool to moderate it) i have family on my server and i don't want they swear on my emby server because i have also my family on it so it will be nice to have a tool to moderate comments. Waiting for @Luke opinion and @ebr to know if this is releasable and there will be a way or a hope for this in the feature and how many time it will take ? Emby server not keeping time correct all the time between playing once and then playing again later
mlapoint posted a topic in Linux
When I stop watching a video on one device and move to another device, the time is not correct between devices. Server Ubuntu 18.04 Clients Windows 10 both through a browser and the Windows app Roku Streaming Stick + Roku 2 Android Galaxy Tab S4 tablet Galaxy S10+ (Rarely used) TV Samsung Series 7 Smart TV Example On 6/2, I started watching "The Chain - Ep. 3, Sailors on the Sea of Stars.webm" on the Streaming Stick + and ended at minute 49. Then on 6/3, I went to watch again on the same device and at that time, the "Continue Playing" said from 12 min. I am attaching the logs from 6/2 and 6/3. Please let me know what I am doing wrong, or fix this issue. The reason is that this particular show is 3:50:08, and not every device makes it easy to fast forward quickly. Hi everyone, I've been running into a few issues on the Emby Server that is running off of my Nvidia Shield that I finally have time to look further into and would love any guidance you can give. I'll include images and logs of the errors I'm getting below. Setup Server:Nvidia Shield (Shield is directly connected to router with ethernet cable) Media is stored on harddrives directly connected to Nvidia Shield Client:LG C8 TV running Emby App (TV is directly connected to router with ethernet cable) - This is the only client Problem #1: Images don't load Although the media are stored on harddrives, I have the cache, logs, metadata, and transcoding temporary files all stored directly on the Nvidia Shield. My idea here was to reduce image load times when searching media content. However after a few searching I start noticing some images don't start loading anymore (Image_1 and Image_2). Similar to what you see in the attachments, it's only a select few images, but the majority still loads. In this case for Gemini Man, only the majority of the cast and crew loaded, not any of the images related to the film itself. This however will progressively get worse to the point where none of the images will load (Image_3). In this case with Gremlins, only the text components load with no images. This has consistently occurred over the past few months. Problem #2: Server shuts down with "light" use from a single user I believe this issue is related to the first problem, since Problem #1 always occurs prior to Problem #2 occurring. In this situation (where I documented it), after the images didn't load for Gremlins, I did select "Play", and the film did not start. When I tried to back up into the movies (Image_4) and start sections (Image_5), either the loading circle kept spinning or was completely blank. At this point when I look at the Nvidia Shield, I see the server has automatically shut off (Image_6). If I turn it back on and do something similar (e.g., select/switch between media, etc.) it will consistently shut off. This is definitely helpful when it comes to troubleshooting. I have noticed this has progressively gotten worse. In the past, this would occur about once a week, but now it occurs at least once a day. Any insight would be highly appreciated! The Shield was great as a server when I first set it an year ago, but has consistently become a larger issue over time. If I can provide any additional information, please let me know! ~Q EmbyServerLog1.txt EmbyServerLog2.txt

Sorry if this question has been asked. If it has, please p0int me in the right direction! I am about to embark on building a new server for my home and need some opinions. Here is what I would like to do; I would like to have a server to serve up all my media (Movies, Music, Photos, etc). I would also like to have a separate NAS to hold my hard drives with my media on them and to do backups. Here is what I have so far; Media Server... Thermaltake Core V71 Case AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core/Wraith Spire Cooler MSI Gaming Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB GDDR6 XPG Spectrix D41 RGB 3600MHz 32GB Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 850W 80+ Gold 250gb SSD for operating system and Emby. NAS Server... Right now I have an older Dell I'm thinking of using for this (This is my media server right now). AMD Phenom II X4 32gb Ram No GPU. Thinking of purchasing a Silverston CS380 (8 Drive SAS/SATA hot-swap). Also, I currently have these harddrives; 2 WD Easy Stores, 8tb each. (Reds). Seagate BarraCuda 8TB A few older 2tb drives. I Plan to purchase a couple more WD Reds (8tb). OR Should I look at the Seagate IronWolf - 7200RPM compared to 5200rpm WD's? I've never built a NAS so I am looking for guidance. Should I use FreeNAS? Hot Swap or No? Also would like opinions on if I am going in the right direction or not. I appreciate any input! @@arrbee99 @@Jdiesel

Currently running my Emby Server on server with 2 Xeon e5 2660, 128GB ram, no gpu (currently). I have the Emby server running on a dedicated VM with 16 cores, 32GB RAM and a dedicated 500GB SSD. So far it works great but I am looking to maybe go something more power efficient or potentially better utilization of hardware? (server runs on Windows Server 2008 R2) I have a HDHomerun tuner along with my media storage and average about 2-5 HD streams. I did see some stuff about GPU rendering which will offload to the CPU when it needs to. Was wondering if anyone has experience or can help me out. I have 2 spare optiplexs with 250W psus one with an i5 3470, the other with a Xeon ivy bridge i5 equivalent. I have a couple Nvidia Quadro 600s laying around. A radeon RX 560 thats not being utilized too much that I can spare and a Radeon HD 7670. I know these are relatively weak cards, but anyone with decent knowledge on the topic could chime in? Will I notice an improvement in performance/efficiency by going with a GPU-CPU combo. Any recommendations for GPUs =>$100 used. @@arrbee99

Hello, guys my knwlodge with plex and emby is very basic, so treat me as a child by now... I've started a private server to me and brother (who is in the other side of the country), I thought of that because I have some drivers with 187 TB of movies/series/docs ... (some of the TB are games .. so) But... since I started my plex server using a virtual mounted driver, I notice that my brother eats my cpu to watch it, that's because of the transcoder, I know I could disable it, but that would have problems with some codecs and some subtitles... as far as I understood. So my question is simple, is there a way to set my plex//emby ->> (i'm going to migrate to emby, that's why i'm searching here) to let the user (my brother) consume his own cpu/gpu to transcode the movie he wants? Or it has to be the server the only thing that can transcode... Excuse my ignorance, i'm new at this. If there's a way, point me the direction @@cayars

Cordialement.

Hi there, I've installed Emby server on my QNAP TS-231P2, it worked well. However, recently due to the internet blockage, when Emby tried to pull metadata from TMDB, it always got a time-out. So I'm thinking of using a proxy to solve the problem. Unfortunately, I didn't find any HTTP proxy settings in Emby control panel. Therefore I decided to install shadowsocks and privoxy to turn Socks5 proxy into a HTTP one. Too bad the privoxy rules just didn't work. Even after I added HTTP_proxy and HTTPS_proxy into the environment variables, and the command like curl or wget worked fine for api.themoviedb.org, the traffic from Emby seemed not to pass through the proxy and got time-out again. I wonder if there is any other means to solve the problem, either from a system level or software level. Also, I'd like to know if you are adding proxy settings in the future versions of Emby. Hi guys, If anyone can help me find a solution it would be wonderful. Accessing my domestic Emby server on my TV worked well until I changed my configuration for practical reasons. My new setup is like this : - TV wired to the router A provided by my ISP. Router A is directly plugged into the wall to receive fiber network - Router B (this one I once bought for wifi expanding) wired to router A - PC server wired to router B. So my guess is that the PC server is not on the same LAN as the TV. How can I setup router B so that my TV can "see" the good IP address and port ? I don't have a very good knowledge in networks. Thanks a lot

@@cayars In my main settings for Emby, under Library/Advanced, I have a metadata path set up that points to a spare SSD. I created a test 'movies' folder and placed a movie in there and checked the box for "...metadata saver to .nfo" and also checked the box to save artwork into this folder. First (maybe dumb) question is, when Emby scanned that test folder and saw the movie in there, why wasn't the artwork save into that folder? But now onto the main point of my post; with Plex, whenever I would hop to a new distro, I would follow the instructions for backing up all the necessary files and moving everything to a new Linux install. I would never back up my cache or metadata since it seemed to just take hours and hours vs. just letting my new Plex install rebuild everything from scratch. The problem with this approach however was that in my movie library, I would always have to manually fix metadata on dozens of movies due to mismatches. I think the metadata manager in Emby is 100x better than Plex. BUT, for movies like 'Wonder', Emby wants to identify it as 'Wonder Woman' and I'll need to manually intervene and fix it, which I'm totally fine with, BUT.... once I get all my movies fixed in Emby, how do I make sure those metadata corrections are backed up in case I ever have to load Emby on a new box? I was reading the guide for backing up the server and see that backing up metadata is not a feature of the 'Server Configuration Backup' plugin. Then I see this sentence in that guide: This will not backup library contents and metadata. To keep a permanent copy of metadata, we suggest enabling saving of local metadata to media folders. ....... and I think this is what I'm after, correct? Unfortunately, I don't see that exact wording anywhere. I found this thread: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/73693-how-do-i-save-local-metadata-to-media-folders/ .... and it looks like 'save artwork into media folders' is the new equivalent to 'saving of local metadata to media folders', right? Which finally brings me to my last question............ in the admin dashboard, on the 'Nfo metadata' tab, I see "Save user watch data to nfo's for"..... and you can select a user. How can you tell Emby to record ALL users' watch data to an nfo file? Hope I articulated my question(s) correctly.

I don't know if this is the right forum, but I will try here. When I log in to the website and want to delete the old servers, I can't do it. Is there another way to clear the server list?
