I have my 3D and 2D rips from MakeMKV (shrunk via FFMEG and/or Handbrake) and tweaked in MakeMKV_GUI (for sub and lang force/sort defaults). The files are name according to wiki: Movie Name (2023).mkv Movie Name (2023) 3D HSBS.mkv Both version served and play fine. 3D movies show meta 3D tag and are filterable. Problem: Android (phone) 3.3.40 shows "3D" after the rating. Same for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari - web direct (multiple OS platforms and versions). Amazon Firestick 4K TV using Amazon's store installs 2.0.93a, which lacks the 3D indicator as well. Sideloading 3.3.40 and all Android devices good. Is there a setting in 3.3.43 (and future versions) to allow 3D to be shown on movie info view?

Since I upgraded my Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 to 8.2.3, from Emby my remux (.MKV) for Blu Rays and 4K are no longer playing sound. What’s interesting is even though no sounds are emitted, if I try to turn up the volume my soundbar doesn’t blink like normal, but if I try to turn down the volume it blinks. My DVD remux work fine. It all worked fine prior to upgrading. FYI - I can play the Blu Ray and 4K movies from my Emby app on my HTPC and iPhone just fine. I'm running Emby Server 4.6.2.0 on my Synology NAS 1520+ / DSM 6.2 All streaming services; Amazon Prime, Disney+, etc. are all working as expected. Today, I reset Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 to factory default, configured it and installed Emby, and same results - no improvements! I've attached the server logs in hopes that it can help solve this issue. Any suggestions on how I can resolve this? TIA embyserver-63758534400.txt embyserver.txt

Subtitle transcoding issues - PGS (sup) vs VobSub (idx/sub)
bobafett_h posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
I have recently started ripping my UHD Blu-rays for play back in Emby, and discovered issues with subtitle transcoding. In the past, my 1080p Blu-ray rips have been in HEVC, whatever the main audio track is, as well as only forced/foreign subtitle tracks if there are any. Normally I would extract the PGS (.sup file) and convert to VobSub using BDSup2Sub and that would work fine. This has been a habit that started back when Blu-ray subs weren't supported by the codecs on my old HTPC way back when, but handled DVD subs (VobSub) fine. The first 4K disc I have ripped that requires a forced subtitle track is Avengers: Infinity War for just one line of dialogue in the whole movie. I have tested playing this back using PGS, VobSub and also SRT. PGS and SRT seem to be OK and everything direct plays, however the VobSub version wants to transcode everything just to burn that single line of text onto the video. The HD audio also gets transcoded back to Dolby Digital. To test this further, I went back and tried some 1080p Blu-rays I had ripped previously with VobSub subtitle tracks and found that they too are being transcoded. My main benchmark for testing subtitle playback has been my rip of Avatar which used to play fine, but now the subtitles are being burnt in and the audio is also not coming through as DTS-HD as it should. VobSub maintains the font style and colour from the PGS subs on movies such as this that would be lost if I used SRT. My Emby server doesn't have the processor power for 4K transcoding, so it becomes unwatchable, but is fine with 1080p rips. So for future rips, I will be happy to use PGS as long as it continues to work properly. However, I would definitely prefer to avoid transcoding my older ones with VobSub subtitles so that the audio can be kept in the original HD format. I especially don't want to have to re-mux all of my older movies with different subtitles if it can be avoided either. Current setup consists of Emby app running on an Nvidia Shield connected via HDMI to a Pioneer receiver (supports HDMI 1.4 and HD audio formats) then to a 4K Sony TV.- 35 replies

Blu-ray folder: it doesn't identify the language of the audios and subtitles.
Juan Simón posted a topic in Linux
Emby server v4.3.1.0 Arch Linux I have added several blu-ray folders and although Emby identifies them correctly, it does not detect the language of the audios and subtitles. -
I have ripped some 5.1 audio albums to create MKV files. The files play back correctly. However, I see no way to use Identify to find the album. Even though I have the AudioDB plug-in, only MovieDB, IMDB, etc, are searched. That means that when I am searching for Chicago II (the album by Chicago), it matches to a wresting movie NXT Takeover: Chicago II! Is there a way to tell Emby to search for audio matches and not movie matches? If not, how can I manually update the metadata for audio and not a movie?

I noticed in my Documentary library which is mixed content that two Blu-ray folders did not get the CoverArt treatment while others do. I am running server 4.0.1.0 plus EMC 3.317 and CoverArt Plugin 4.0.91.0 with no changes to any settings. This folder did not get the treatment, screen shots from the web app plus content details. Media Info details Folder that did get the treatment. Media Info details. Why did the one that received no treatment has as container = mpegts and the one that received treatment has as container = bluray? The other disc that did not receive a treatment was "Home (2009)". @@ebr if this is too difficult to solve is there a chance to share the template for the BD treatment and then I can customize the primary image where no treatment is applied. Also can you please let me know the pixel size of Width vs, Height so that they will be the same size. Thanks O2G

I had an idea since I know passing blue ray and DVD menus is not an option. What about when we click a movie Emby first presents users with a menu of available options to select from. Like available audio and subtitle options it sees within the file and srt files. And possibly the subfolders listed extras. This would present a menu style look and could use the background for the menu from the background image scraped from tmdb. Just a thought. I see this topic a lot and thought hell maybe people would like this. Myself I usually only put what I want in the encodes but figured I'd share.

Before anyone suggests to convert the discs to MKV files that is NOT an option. The two discs for season 10 of the Big Bang Theory work just fine in my setup with PDVD 16 playing them back flawless and menus to boot. From the attached screenshots you can see that Disc1 has incorrect video (1080i), frame rate (29.97) and audio (AC3 2.0) while Disc2 has the correct video (1080p), frame rate (23.976) and audio (DTS-HD MA 5.1). In the BDMV folders the first 18 files in the Stream subfolder are identical for both discs, 19th file is the first episode for each disc. Why does FFMPEG flag disc 1 incorrectly but disc 2 correctly? From the Stream folder the largest M2TS file is for disc 1 the 39 minute Comic Con event which happens to have MBAFF encoding and only 1 AC3 2.0 audio tract, while the largest on disc 2 is an actual episode. Looks like whatever the largest file is will determine the media info, which will produce incorrect results. What is the latest version of FFMPEG that can be used by EMBY and how can it be replaced manually? If incorrect media info is being obtained is there a way to manually enter the correct values somewhere? I am aware of the fact that mediainfo.dll is no longer being used but what is used at present for identifying discs is not very good. I am open to suggestions, but just not any MKV conversions Big Bang Theory Season 10 Disc 1. Big Bang Theory Season 10 Disc 12

Hi ebr, Is there any chance of adding a Blu-Ray 3D treatment to CoverArt, and adding 'Blu-Ray 3D' as a recognised tag for 'Treat image as...'?
-
I have recently ripped a Blu-Ray, We're the Millers, to mkv. The videos and trailers are unwatchable due to stuttering. I have tried adjusting the streaming bitrate, to no avail. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi ebr, The last week or so I have being ripping my DVD's and Blu-Ray's to my my library, and have been using the 'Treat image as...' field as such. I have found though, when I apply the treatment, then go back and refresh the page, the treatment sometimes applies in the Suggestions view, but not the Movies view. I have found that if I edit the primary image and select a different image, or even the same one... then go back and refresh the page, it works. Is this intended, or a bug?

Hello, I would like to know which 3D format tag I should use for 3D Blu-Ray rips

Hey all, so for some reason Emby (Kodi) isn't direct playing/streaming my blu-ray folders and is transcoding them instead. I've also tried the Windows Emby Theater app, which won't play blu-ray's at all (it just hangs at the spinner after selecting to play for 1 minute), but will play all of my other files. I've attached the ffmpeg log and a section of the server log, however before I attach the full server/kodi logs, is there anything I need to censor? I need help understanding filename conventions as applied to blu-ray ISOs. I'm referencing the guidelines, but Emby isn't behaving as I expect. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Movie%20naming For example: Mad Max: Fury Road. My set has both 2D and 3D discs. I think the names should be: "Mad Max - Fury Road (2015) - 3D.bluray.iso" "Mad Max - Fury Road (2015) - bluray.iso" I've got the hyphen to indicate two versions, the bluray to say it's a blu-ray and not DVD, and 3D for that version. For this case, I get only the 3D version in Emby Theater, but it's not labeled as 3D. For another similar case, Guardians of the Galaxy, I get two indistinguishable entries in Emby Theater, one for 2D and for 3D, but I can't tell which is which without playing them. I'm confused? What's the expected behavior for two versions of the same movie, with proper filenaming? What should the file names be? I appreciate the help. I bought the lifetime edition and I'm trying to get my library tuned up and moved from Plex and PowerDVD conventions to Emby's.

Hi, I wasn't sure where to post this, as I don't know whether it is a server or client side issue. I've recently replaced a failing SSD in my Windows 8.1 server and reinstalled Windows and Emby Server, along with Media Center Master. For the last few weeks I have been encountering issues with streaming videos to Edge on Xbox One and now Chrome on MacOS 10.11.6. The video will start playing fine for a few minutes then pause, sometimes it will continue, others it will just stay paused indefinitely. Originally, I was only having this issue with playing Friends ripped from Blu-Ray, as the MKV's were a direct stream rip from the Blu-Ray at full bitrate. I started re-ripping them to a maximum bitrate of 8000-9000mbps which solved the problem, but now it is happening from downloaded TV series as well. I have pretty much given up trying to watch anything from the server now as it is too frustrating with the frequent pausing. What can I do to solve this?

Hi, I just sent the following support ticket to OPPO Digital, hoping to find out if Emby could be ported to their Blu-Ray players. Hopefully, I can get a positive response from them. I know there a quite a few people out there that have OPPO Blu-Ray players, that would like to see Emby available on them.

[uPDATE] - additional information and clarifications. I'm having a fairly consistent issue with the last two server betas (including 3.0.5188.21314) Where, when streaming, several blu-ray ISOs play (it seems) whatever the #2 audio stream is and incorrectly states it is playing the primary (English) audio stream when the english stream is an HD audio stream (e.g. DTS-MA). Switching streams seems to have the same issue, and critically, there appears to be no way to actually select the primary English stream either before or during playback. I've tested this in the web interface and XBMB3C (in streaming mode) and behavior happens across a number of BD ISOs with multiple audio streams and an HD primary stream. Note this problem does not appear when directly accessing the file system - MBC and XBMB3C both play the expected English audio track for my BD ISOs. Additionally, DVD ISOs play the expected audio track both locally and when streaming. Happy to provide any additional information upon request!

Hi again. I have many 3D Blu-Ray titles which I've ripped to my NAS as ISO files. I watch these 3D Movies using TMT5 and NVidia 3DTVPlay software and have been doing so for a while now. Alcohol 52% is the ISO mount software I use, and it works a treat. What I haven't been able to do so far is to work out how I set Media Browser to work with these ISO files so I don't have to load this manually (ie, the way I do now). Here is what I do to watch a Blu-Ray 3D ISO today: 1. Start Alcohol 52% and mount the ISO image 2. Start Total Media Theatre 5 and hit play I do these steps from the Windows desktop interface and would like Media Browser to handle this as it does with the other movies. I'm sure there is a simple answer out there, but I haven't found it yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Paul
