I've seen this discussed in another conversation thread, but there was no solution. This is a new install of Emby on 2 separate Qnap systems. Both do not work when I open the web interface. I'm getting: This site can’t be reached 192.168.1.21 refused to connect. full url is 192.168.1.21:8920 (also tried http and https) I rebooted both servers but get the same issues (refused to connect). I have also installed Emby on a Synology server (last night) without any issues, although the web interface port opening in Chrome from that NAS is 8096 ... I've also tried that with the two Qnap addresses without success. Note: The exclamation mark in the QNAP screenshot is due to the absence of a digital signature.

I have been using EMBY as media server for a long time. it runs on a Qnap ts-453be 8GB ram I use it for my DVD and Blue rays, which I watch on Apple devices Lately I started buying 4K Blue rays, and ripping them with makeMKV. But here is where the problem starts. So I have premium Subs and run playback from EMBY client apps or MRMC (KODI for Apple). 99.8% of content in 4K starts buffering or stop playback after some sec. in any EMBY player. AppleTV, Ipad or Iphone. I have tried with or without transcoding, By setting the user up to no transcoding. I have also setting EMBY server into MRMC, and here playback has no problem. All 4K ripped movies playback fine. Why does MRMC playback fine, but the EMBY client stutters and buffers? EMBY vs MRMC(KODI).pdf

I was wondering if there's a way to keep track of all ip addresses that connect to the emby server remotely or otherwise. Is there something I can use from the QNAP store or is there a plugin of sorts for emby? Ideally, I'd love to flag new IP addresses but that's not a must.

Looking for help running python/bash scripts on QNAP (maybe the same process on other Linux based NAS's) I have Emby running pretty much perfectly on my NAS, but my IPTV provider, provides VOD (in M3U file) which I want converted to STRM within their own library. I have seen several python/bash scripts for doing this, by my knowledge is this area is non existent. Just looking for information on the following: Where to put the script How to run the script How to run the script at preset times How to run at startup of NAS Many thanks for any help you can give me

hello, i've been using emby for a little while on my QNAP TS-251B, but recently noticed that my devices (browsers, an nvidia shield) only connect via unsecured http on the default port 8096. when trying to bring up the page (from within my lan) on the default https port of 8920, chrome gives me ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED. in Emby Configuration > Server > Network, i do see that the port number is indeed set to 8920. however, when i run nmap against the device to scan for open ports, 8920 appears closed. i'm using Emby server version 4.5.4.0

Hi Guys, Just looking for a little assistance if possible. Just want to see if anyone is using the above (title) setup and if transcoding works fine. It will probably be for a max transcode of two streams at once and the rest will be direct play. Most transcodes will be 1080p but in the future maybe 1 x 4k transcode at any given time - all over local lan. I've been told it will work but always nice to ask the community for real world usage and potential issues.

TS-831x - Installation works but Emby seems to be not running / Can't access through browser
Razzi posted a topic in QNAP
Hello, I have alot of trouble with the installation, googled alot but since development seem to be very fast most information is outdated. Emby is not in my QNAP App Store so I used the package on the Website https://emby.media/nas-server.html for the QNAP , only the x41 variant seemed to work, although I never found an Info which x I need. What I have tried: - After installation I click on the app to open and it tries to connect to https://<server>:8920/ Chrome says ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED Since on the QNAP Installation page they write a different port I also tried 8096. Same Problem - A curl directly on the NAS curl -v http://localhost:8096 (or other port) outputs connection refused. - The Emby Log under the installation folder has 0 bytes - so it is empty as never touched... - ps -ef | grep emby shows no result - ./emby-server.sh start => outputs ./emby-server.sh: line 20: kill: (12025) - No such process, after removing the PID File it shows no message but is still not really started, PID File is recreated Versions Used : 4.0.2.0 and Beta 4.1.0.8. I dont want to switch to Plex since Emby seems to be just nicer for me But Plex has an App directly in the App store :/ Can I provide any more Infos ? What else can I try? Thanks in advance Razzi -
Hi, I downloaded the latest server available for QNAP i.e. 4.1.1.0 from https://emby.media/nas-server.html , but when I check the dashboard it shows I only installed 4.1.0.26 and a newer version is available. Can someone help me get the latest server? The package is named 4.1.1.0 but the server is still 4.1.0.26 I guess someone needs to fix the package file.

So I have another thread I was commenting in, but replies seem slow. So I'm posting here for part of the question. My NAS (TS-451+) CPU doesn't support HW HVEC/10bit transcoding, so it does them in software. Sometime in the last 2-4 months, I believe an Emby update resulted in 1080p HVEC/10bit playback being less efficient. In the past playback was around 70-80% on average high, followed by up/downs that gave the processor some breathing room. Now, with the stable release, its maxing the whole time. I went to the newest beta 4.5.0.13 to see if some of the new changes might help, but it was minimal. I even downgraded the QNAP to an older version that I don't think had issues. I've been searching for a while trying to find an old QNAP package of Emby to try downgrading for testing, but having difficulty finding them. Anyone know where I can get one from early this year or late last year?

Hi there, I've installed Emby server on my QNAP TS-231P2, it worked well. However, recently due to the internet blockage, when Emby tried to pull metadata from TMDB, it always got a time-out. So I'm thinking of using a proxy to solve the problem. Unfortunately, I didn't find any HTTP proxy settings in Emby control panel. Therefore I decided to install shadowsocks and privoxy to turn Socks5 proxy into a HTTP one. Too bad the privoxy rules just didn't work. Even after I added HTTP_proxy and HTTPS_proxy into the environment variables, and the command like curl or wget worked fine for api.themoviedb.org, the traffic from Emby seemed not to pass through the proxy and got time-out again. I wonder if there is any other means to solve the problem, either from a system level or software level. Also, I'd like to know if you are adding proxy settings in the future versions of Emby. Thanks for your help in advance. Any suggestions are welcome. Hi all, I am having an issue whereby I am unable to connect to my Emby Server remotely when using a domain. I have a SSL certificate that is correctly associated with the domain and works as it should. I have port forward setup on my router, and as a test I have used the external IP of my router as the external domain and this worked correctly and allowed me to access remotely. I've taken a log to show that it accepts the connection via the external IP as the external domain. If you require any further information please let me know. Thanks, Michael

Hi, I try now for some days already to reach my (in my eyes: simple) goal and I would like to have some advice: I have my music on a QNAP TS-453Be and would like to plug my sound system to the analog audio output jack of the NAS and then control via a desktoppc/laptop or mobile what is played on the NAS to the sound system. After some other tools tried out I am now friend of emby. I installed it on the NAS and I can log in from various PCs and play locally music and can even play music on other PCs if I allow the user to do so ("Allow remote control of other users"). Now, this is nice and the UI is how I imagined, but it is not fullfilling my wish above to have the NAS play the music and in fact I do not want to allow every user I want to allow to play sound on my sound system to also remote control my mobile musicwise. So I see three options: A) I find some way to play to the QNAP Audio output jacket and I can configure users that they can do that but not remote control the other users. I install Linux Station (as it can send sound to the audio output jacket) on the QNAP and open within there a browser to connect to emby and then I can remotecontrol it from everybody else. I then would like to limit other users to only be able to remote control this Linux-Station-User and not everybody else. C) I install Linux Station and install some kind of daemon that emby can stream to. This daeomn then plays the music over the audio output jacket and I can configure users that they can do that but not remote control the other users. I do not know if any of these options do work at all and whether it has something to do with DLNA. My understanding of DLNA is that you can provide music files to other devices, but these devices need the active player part that starts music etc. Of course I would prefer A) as I do not need to have a linux station running only because of that setup. Plan sounds hacky and I do not have the feeling that I can limit which user can be remote controlled only none or all. Plan C) sound ok, but I have no idea at all what I need to install on my linux station ubuntu 18. Do I need some kind of DLNA receiver/player? What software do I need and how do I configure it in the emby server? I am very confused why this whole setup is so difficult as I thought this would be something everybody wants, but it seems that most people wnat to decide on their DLNA TV what should be played and use the NAS only as a storage but not for generating analog sound. I'd be very glad if somebody could bring some light into my situation and could just point me into the right direction. I am very capable of digging into manuals how to do something if I know what I want, but I seem not to have a good enough understandings of the standard DNLA and the QNAP NAS to know what to goole for ... Or maybe I am totally wrong expecting to solve some wish like this with such a setup? Thankx for your time in advance Lukas

Afternoon all, I have an unusual issue that just surfaced in the last couple days. Everything on my server was working fine, but all of a sudden this morning the Emby HTTPS port is showing as being tcpwrapped, and is blocking all connection attempts. This is occurring on the internal network, and only for the Emby service. No other services on the underlying QNAP are being affected. No changes to the underlying QNAP TS-451 unit were made, and no changes to the Emby server were made within the last two weeks. The problem persists only on the Emby HTTPS port, and the issue moves to any new HTTPS port that is designated, and persists full reboots of the server and the QNAP. I even rolled the QNAP firmware back to the prior release that was confirmed working, and the issue is persisting. This leads me to believe it may be an issue within the Emby server itself. Were any form of Access Control or tcpwrapping features recently integrated on the back end, and if so is there a way to whitelist? I see in the server logs over the HTTP interface that Dlna, StudioImages, and Port Mapper were updated over the last couple of days, but the problem has remained even after rooming these plugins. So I'm scratching my head here. Any thoughts?

Previously Posted in Wrong Forum: I love the functionality of Auto Organize, but I'm running into an issue with shows that contain a period in the name. I've tried looking into the forum, but my searching has come up empty. When Auto-Organize moves an episode for a show with a period in the name, the folder name for the series gets screwy. For example, I am trying to sort through an episode for Mythbusters Jr. It tells me it has successfully sorted the episodes, but the series folder name is wrong. Instead of ending up in a series folder named "Mythbusters Jr." or even "Mythbusters Jr", it ends up in a folder named "M16HM6~T". See the screenshot (EmbyScreenshotNamingIssue.png) to see that Auto Organize doesn't even mention "M16HM6~T" as the name of the folder it ended up in. I've even deleted the folder, but now, Auto-Organize seems to permanently contain the series listing as an option when you try to manually specify a series (EmbyPeriodNameIssue.png). In the past, if a series folder is deleted, Auto-Organize does not show the option, but not even clearing the emby cache gets rid of these options. Is there anyway for me to clear the Auto Organize cache or change how auto-organize deals with periods? For reference, I am running Emby Server on QNAP TVS-871.

Hello, here are a few issues with Emby and QNAP, which I have had for several versions: 1. Qnap's App Center displays the wrong logo. 2. If you stop Emby sometimes ffmpeg will not quit. 3. When I search for something in the browser with the magnifying glass, Emby almost always hangs up. I used Emby version beta 4.3.0.4 and QNAP TS-453Bmini firmware: 4.3.6.0993 greeting

Hi There, So Emby has been running sweet as a nut for some time. I was really happy when the PVR functions found their way into the Fire App. Might have known that something would go wrong though. Today the Qnap had a new firmware update that turned out to be 4.3.3. Great thought I as I have been meaning to look at VPNs etc and this version sounded useful. I ran the firmware through thinking I'll have a play with the VPNs tonight. Alas I am actually playing with Emby which now totally refuses to connect. I suspect that something in the new firmware is disagreeing with it, I just can't figure out what. I can't look at the logs as I cannot figure out where they are without being able to go into the system to do it. Please can someone point me in the right direction as to what to do next. Trevor

Hi, I'm running latest version on Emby on a QNAP 451+ (not the fastest, but best I could afford at the time). I am going to be working away from home for a few months, and would love to be able to access my media via Emby remotely. I have tested this with default transcoding settings, but get a lot of buffering. My home network has good download speed, but only 1mbps unload. I know there will probably be some files I won't be able to play (because of the format), but wanted to know if I can watch my content with such a low upload speed (I know the files will probably need transcoding). Some files are SD and some are HD (720p and 1080p). If it is possible, what would you recommend for best transcoding settings/any other settings? Many thanks for any help

I'm an emby newbie so be kind to my dumb questions. First my emby server is running on a Linux based server in a Docker container. The Emby server is up and running just fine. I can access it well with my browse on my Ubuntu base desktop machine. I also have a QNAP NAS that I have had running for several years now. I currently contains photos, documents and music. No video or movies. I want to move all my music from the QNAP music library to the new EMBY server in bulk. Freeeing up a ton of space and repurposing the QNAP for other things than media serving. I have somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 songs in the QNAP music library. So as you can see it is not a task that is manually realistic to do. For that reason I am looking for suggestions, procedures, or ideas on how best to accomplish this feet. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. One thing to bear in mind, I do not have any library structure set up on the Emby server yet. So this is very much a 'green field' installation. Thanks. Glenn.
