Emby post-processing dvr script for linux

I thought I'd post my emby post-processing dvr script. Tested and working on Debian Linux 8.9 Files processed end up being named *originalvideoname*.ts.mkv so i can search by that and make sure recordings have no issues. After I look at them, I manually rename to just .mkv. I do not have automatically convert recordings checked or the two preserve boxes checked under live tv --> settings. Script flow: see if lockfile exists. if so wait 60 sec create lockfile commerical scan and commerical cutting ccextractor to pull out closed captions and convert to srt file Encode to h264 using ffmpeg
  2. I have been using the Emby DVR for a few months and have been pretty happy with the results recording and watching general TV programs. Recently the Rugby World Cup started showing on TV here in New Zealand and these recordings are significantly longer than the usual programs I had been recording. Watching the first game for NZ in the competition (on my Android Smart TV client) it played fine until about 40 minutes into the game (about 1:40 into the recording) when it started pixelating and glitching for 5-10 seconds. It then came right for a few minutes and then glitched again and repeated ra

    Play to End of File

An option to label a library so that files in that library are played to end-of-file rather than up to the time-code captured in the most recent library scan would make the Live TV & DVR capability far more useful.
  4. Tablo would be a great Plugin for Emby. Tablo capabilities (I'm no shill) Tablo is a whole home quad station tuner DVR for cord cutters. It has (in Beta) the ability to remove advertisements from "recorded" content. It allows you to watch and record up to 4 HD channels at the same time. DVR - Recordings Folder Issue

Greetings. Recently noticed that recording Live TV was no longer functioning. I changed the file path from a network name to a mapped drive name, and it started working again, same folder as before just different path. However. Now I have 2 recording folders on the home screen. One has a random file in it that cannot be deleted, and the other contains all the new recordings. As the admin, I am the only account who can see both folders. All users who have access to this feature can only see the now useless original folder. I have reset the DVR path to blank and saved, ma

Record failing at random times/closed connection

I have having recording failures. Sometimes its 40 min, sometimes 15min. The server reports stream server closed connection. and it retries, but gets 403 error. and quits after 435ms. I need this to be much longer and have it try more.... From the log, i gather my iptv service is dropping connection, and it take several seconds for it to accept a new connection. here is what log says, removed the iptv url. 2020-07-13 16:15:53.562 Info SharedHttpPipelineSource: Remote server closed stream http:// 2020-07-13 16:15:53.563 Info SharedHttpPipelineSource: Retry opening st

    DVR/Live TV Subtitles?

Got my Emby server connected to a HDHomeRun Connect Duo and it's happily recording all the things. However, subtitles are not available when playing back my DVR recordings. If I play the .ts files in VLC, it will detect and show the embedded subtitles. VLC actually picks up 4 different sets of subtitles, but only the first one does anything. I know I can configure OpenSubtitles and have it download the subtitles. Or, I could set MCEBuddy to extract them to a .srt file. Though both of these options seem unnecessary since the subtitles are embedded in the .ts files. Am I doing something
  8. Does anyone know the cause or a fix for this ugly line on the left side of the screen that i always have with my Emby IPTV? The line is only there when using IPTV and is not present when using just OTA channels. Also line is present when IPTV is recorded too. Ive had the line for like a year, all the time, never goes away, im learning to simply ignore it but i want to fix this now. But this ugly Line is baked right in. So line is visible even when opening the .ts files that Emby's DVR record in VLC player or any other. How do i get rid of this line? Emby is served from windows 10,

    Recording of IPTV VOD

I am a complete newbie at this so I would very much appreciate some guidance. I have an interest in recording IPTV, specifically their VOD channels. My reasoning behind this is that I live in South Africa and my international internet connection speed is limited during peak viewing times, hence the desire to record during the off-peak period so I can watch in the evenings. I have installed the Emby server and client and have a suitable M3U file list and have configured LiveTV. The problem I am having is how do I record as I don’t have any EPG. Are I correct in assuming that I must
  10. Hello, I have been using Emby for several years and absolutely love the platform. One thing that I believe would be a nice feature would be to allow users to record to different library's. Thanks for your attention, John
  11. I use a Nvidia Shield TV and I am considering a move from Plex and wondered if someone could answer a few questions regarding DVR and Live TV: Can the Emby app on the Shield TV display DVB and Teletext subtitles for Live TV, and can they be toggled on and off? DVR related, does Emby capture DVB and Teletext subtitles in a recorded stream? I ask because plex (PMS 1.8 does not). For both Live TV and recorded TV, will files Direct Play with DVB and Teletext subtitles selected or will the Emby server have to transcode? I hope I do not cause to much bother; I'm considering a move to Emby, so I

DVR Recording 1st Few Minutes Only

I'm not sure if there's a solution to this that doesn't involve extensive manual editing of XML files to keep channel/guide info current, but just in case there is an easier workaround, I wanted to post what I've been experiencing when trying to use the DVR. It's not the behavior I notice every time, but recording shows with the DVR works so infrequently that I rarely try. This is the most common result, where only a few minutes of a show will be recorded (attached screenshot of 'info' screen). I included the log file, though it does seem to have a TON of extra info, much of it pertaining
  13. Now that windows 7 is no longer supported I am attempting to move away from wmc and use Emby exclusively for my DVR. One main feature I am really going to miss is fast forward 1 with pitch correct audio. This is wonderful for getting through sports and the like quickly. Windows media center and TiVo have this feature. Is this something that can be done in Emby?

    Disable DVR

Hi If i set up two tuners, can i disable one form recording and just use it for live tv while allowing the other tuner to record?

    multiple tuner designations

Hello I couldn't find anything about this and wanted to ask. Is there a way to designation tuners to do specific things, for example: HDHomerun extend to just do recordings HDHomerun Duo to just tune liveTV This is my dream...i already have an amplified antenna and amplified splitter installed (thanks dish). Thank you
  16. Hi I'm new to emby. My main emby client is a nvidia shield. On the Shield, I can start watching an ongoing recording and skip through commercials perfectly. But that doesn't seem the case with emby theater on Windows. I can start watching an ongoing recording, but the player has a lot of difficulties tracking time. It's really difficult to skip through commercials. i tried the webapp player with the same results. On the android app (not tv), the player shows a length of 0 min and It's not possible to skip through commercials at all. Is it the expected behavior? Or there is some
  17. I would like to have the ability to check if a movie is already in my library before scheduling a recording in the DVR. The only way to do it now is to make a search. This mean going from on screen to another. It is already possible to not record an episode of a serie that already exist in the library. A similar option should be available for movie, One suggestion is to have a seach display on screen when scheduling the recording of a movie, in order to inform if the movie is already in the library or not. Hope this help!
  18. Hi, So I have a question about the Emby Live TV and DVR with HD Homerun Prime and cable card using Spectrum. I had PLEX and it would not play/record most of the Spectrum Cable Channels as they were DRM protected, they were fine on the HDHomerun Prime but not on the PLeX server. So I checked and everyone kept saying Emby but after spending an hour reading threads here I am still unsure if Emby Premiere will play or record DRM channels. I am not talking about encrypted channels like HBO, I know the difference. Can someone just answer the basic question. With my current setup wi
  19. Hello, Whenever I try to use Auto-organize to organize recorded TV episodes, Auto-organize fails to move the episodes and the log file shows a message that the episode cannot be sorted because it is already part of an Emby library. This is true, but it is because Emby automatically adds the Recorded TV folder as an Emby library. Hence, I have to remove the Recorded TV folder from my libraries, and then Auto-organize will sort and move the recorded episodes as expected. But then Emby adds the Recorded TV folder back as a library item and Auto-organize fails again. This has been an
  20. I have a series recording scheduled. When clicking on the show from the guide while it is currently recording, does not play the recording. It goes straight to live. Once there, you cannot even scrub back to the beginning. It doesn't show up under "Recordings" or "Schedule". Am I doing something wrong? How do I watch a series while it is recording?
  21. I'm sure there are scripts or maybe an add-on someone can point me to in the meantime? Has it ever been considered to put in a feature to transcode recordings as they are recording? For example if I record a 1HR HD program, recordings can get upwards of 6GB. If I could set a bitrate to have my server transcode the recording on the fly to say 1080p 5mbps? To keep file sizes down and reduce time spent cleaning up libraries
  22. I just installed Emby yesterday after having stability issues with Plex liveTV. Setup is with a Hauppauge dual channel USB tuner connected to a Microsoft Surface. Everything was working great with liveTV so setup the DVR to record some shows. At 8pm both Chicago Med and Survivor started recording. When I checked the status of the recordings around 10:20pm I found that Chicago Med was only a partial recording of a minute 47 seconds. I looked at the log file and didn't see any errors, just that the recording stopped. Not sure what other logs to look at. From the server log the recordin
  23. Trying to get Emby set up to work as cable provider replacement. The issue I am having is that I have a HDHR Quattro and an IPTV (M3U) source. Works extremely well; however, the behavior when tuners are in use has been frustrating me. At a minimum, I would like to limit the number of tuners that can be used for recording vs. live streaming. Alternatively, if attempting to tune when all tuners are is use, I could be given the choice to interrupt. Presently, I have 5 streams available from M3U and 4 tuners, so if there are items in a series, the server can theoretically recor

    DVR: List of Known Issues

I'm still struggling to get the DVR to work reliably. The recordings are either of the wrong show, or the playback skips around and even seems to switch channels at times. While all of these recordings were all set up on channels/programs that appeared correctly in the guide at the time, there are quite a number of missing spots in my EPG, and I've tried Emby, Schedules Direct, and XMLTV.. from what I've read in some of these threads, mapping all of the channels through some other 3rd party service sounds like a ton of work & a production-ready integrated Emby live TV/DVR solution with IPT
  25. Currently when I'm playing back a live recording on the Roku, I seem to only be able to seek as far as Emby has transcoded in the background. This can be frustrating if I want to seek through the first half-hour or hour of a recording. Would it be possible to change the way Emby handles seeking in ongoing recordings such that it's possible to seek to the middle of the recording and then begin transcoding from there? Thanks!
