  1. Hello, first, thanks for the greats efforts you guys have spend to build such nice media center! I have moved from XBMC to MB recently hand found myself left with some unanswered questions. DVD rips means for me to copy the DVD main movie only with two audio tracks and related subtitles into VIDEO_TS folder structure. This has been done for hundreds of DVD and VLC and other can play such flawless. If I do now the same thing in MBT the main movie starts, but compared to XBMC the following issues are occurring: · No time code / runtime · No fast forward or any kind of such · No way to pick a different audio track nor subtitle * * I know that 'i' shortcut will bring a menu. And this is of course working fine on my m2ts Blu-ray rips in term of changing the audio stream. But with the DVD rips, the menu point for Audio is gone. Transcoding the same DVD rips (via Android device) let me choose the correct audio track. Of course, in LAV and on the server side I have set the default language, but its still picking the wrong audio track in MBT However, since it depends on my current moot to listen to native or English language is there an easy way I might have overseen to change the audio track during the runtime? Thanks & Regards, Klapetste

    Audio Volume

I have run into a bizarre problem, I've been using Emby for a few months now, the standard version currently, and in the last few days I've started having issues with the audio being extremely quiet when I'm streaming to my Roku. I've tested the same files on my PC and they're audio levels are normal when I play them on the computer, but when I stream them I am having to crank the volume on the TV almost to the max for it to sound like it is at the normal level. I have searched the forums and tried changing the Transcoding from 2 to 1, but that had no effect. This has happened with both mp4 and mkv files. I'm not really sure what the issue is, it was working normal until the last couple of days, I haven't changed anything in Emby or on my computer, so I'm not sure what is causing the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nick
  3. I don't know about other containers, but with MKV you can set a track label/title. This is useful with subtitles because you might have 3 english subtitles. Forced, SDH, and full subtitles. If Emby could parse that out and store it, then make that available to clients (and the API) it would really help when choosing a subtitle.
  4. Hello, I am finding that files with an audio track encoded EAC3 are not playing on my receiver in 5.1, but only in stereo. In the display in Emby Theater for the show, it says the audio is 5.1 EAC3. In the Audio Settings area, I have EAC3 pass through checked. When inspecting the mkv file using MediaInfo, it shows the Format as E-AC-3, Codec ID: A_EAC3, with 6 channels. When I play the same file using the windows Movie Player app, it plays in full 5.1 surround. Other types, such as regular AC3 work fine in Emby Theater. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you, Danny
  5. Hi, I've seen, that you can add an audio delay in the directshowplayer.xml file. This seems to work, as long, as it is an positive value. But I would need an negative value, so I put -200 into it, but this doesn't seem to work, it's the same as if it was zero. I tried higher values (-700) and this also had no effect, but positive values do work. How can I make this work? Thanks & Ciao, Alfred
  6. So though I'm currently still planning to keep most of my Movies in the old VIDEO_TS format, I am persuaded as the benefits of (slowly) converting my TV shows to MKV. In one recent conversion I noticed that MakeMKV defaulted to un-selecting (ie, not including in the outputted MKV file) DD Stereo, while retaining DD Surround 5.1. I'm definitely interested in retaining the best quality audio options in my files, but I'm wondering if there is anything I should be aware of regarding stripping out "lower" audio options like MakeMKV appears to default to? My current setup is a 2.1 system, but am thinking about upgrading at some point (possibly to a 5.1 type of setup). I guess I just wonder in part if I might run into issues because of not having the more basic audio options in my files, or if Emby (and apps in general these days) should do fine with downmixing (is that the right term?) as needed? All thoughts and opinions welcome -- thanks!
  7. Ember stutters when playing MKV files. Also, Audio seems to get out of sync and several MKV file stop playing altogether. However, those that stutter and stop playing work fine when playing them with MPC-HC, VLC and Movies and TV across the network in my own home. I'm running Ember version: 4.1.160 on Win 10 Home ver 1607 with Intel i7-3720QM CPU w/ 8GB Ram. Please advise.
  8. Hi folks, Yesterday I unpacked a nice new AVR and connected a spiffy little Windows 10 set top box to it. In short order I had configured Windows to output up to 7.1 channels to the AVR over HDMI, and clicking the test button from the windows audio test utility for each speaker was rewarded with test tones coming from the correct speaker. The AVR was confirming it as receiving 7.1 audio. Hooray. That was easy. However, no matter which video player I use (Emby Theater, Kodi, MP-CHC), the AVR still reports 7.1 channels instead of switching to directly match the audio format in the movie file. It does recognize other formats instantly, such as if I switch over to my Smart TV as an input source and play something from Netflix, it switches to DD for example. So, my suspicion is either I've configured something in Windows that is overriding the player settings and forcing the computer to remap whatever audio stream is playing, to a 7.1 configuration. In Emby Theater, for example, I've told it to use the Denon AVR as the output device and that my speaker configuration is 7.1. I've done similar configurations for my other players. I think I've probably done something silly, but this is the first time I've done audio over anything other than SPDIF, and even that I configured years ago. Any ideas to help me troubleshoot this would be appreciated!! Marc
  9. Hi, I accidentally misposted this in the Android TV forum - apparently it is supposed to be in the android mobile forum. I am SO looking forward to having a functional Emby experience... (after many, many frustrations) and appreciate advice/assistance. I recently posted a string of problems related to an AsusStor NAS running server. Most were solved by dropping the hope of running Emby on this device. Now I have it running on Windows and have a great experience with android apps and web apps - except on ONE problematic android set top box! The errors are very repeatable - but I cant grasp what might be the problem. GOOD: Old Set Top Box (AcRyan Veolo 4k) connected via HDMI to Old HD samsung TV 1. Go to youtube - play random video: Result: Video + sound 2. Go to emby (latest via play store)- play SD PCM video: Result video + sound 3. Go back to youtube or any other app and play stuff: Result: Video but NO SOUND *** Only way to get sound back is to reboot android box. *Tried disconnecting/reconnecting HDMI (incase a handshaking issue) - no effect *Tried setting sound output to HDMI (vs Auto) in android tv settings - no effect *Tried playback via Kodi (using Emby plugin) of 1080p+AAC results in video not playing back Veolo Specs: working 4k version problematic 4KPlus version Processor 1.8Ghz ARM A17 2Ghz ARM A53 Ram 2GB DDR3 2GB DDR3 Android 4.4 KitKat 5.1 Lollipop Resolution 1080p 2160P@30hz I tried a factory reset of the box - then fresh install of emby. Same result. The device techs are willing to help but need something they can reproduce - so playback from my emby server is not an option from their service centre. NB - when exploring issues with the AsusStor NAS I installed Plex server/app of this set top box. Plex could stream the same file without issues, and I can view the same files on other emby android apps without issue... so I'm assuming its something Emby App Related... Since other android devices work, I assume it is not likely to be server related. NEW: It looks like Emby uses VLC to playback videos - I can REPRODUCE the crash/sound issue in VLC player as well! But in VLC I can SOLVE the problem: Changing a VLC audio setting however allows everything to playback just FINE in VLC - NO crash, no sound outages. I Need to change the Audio Output setting from 'AudioTrack' (which crashed or kills all further sound on the device until a reboot) to 'Open SL ES' (See attached photo of VLC settings) I cannot find a way to make this change in Emby though - so still playback in Emby effectively kills the device. I downloaded one of the sample MKV files and I can play back the MKV file (with sound, without crashes) in both of the other media players installed on the device! (Stock, and something else that came preinstalled (MX player if I recall) NEW: LOGS Of SERVER and of APP are uploaded - App logs show everything from startup to playing SD file to playing HD AAC file and CRASH. Server logs contain all sorts of other stuff - but rather than try to filter to save somebody time - and then have no meaningful response because I filtered something important - I am uploading the full days' log up to the above mentioned crash. To be clear - the uploaded logs are of the PROBLEMATIC device/server. If my non-technical descriptions are unclear please use the information in the LOGS to clarify. Any suggestions or detailed recommendations very welcome. Its been a few weeks now that I keep trying different combinations of ostensibly supported platforms and run into endless problems. I am about to give up on Emby completely - No home theatre solution should be this difficult to get working Especially not something paid. Thanks! X ServerLog.txt Android5.5MBApp.log
  10. My emby has stopped playing audio from movies that have a MP3 Codec. I am running the latest version of emby and trying to play it from the online web app. I have tried playing the file on a windows 10.1 Chrome browser and a macbook chrome browser. In both situations the audio didn't play but the video did.

    Audio Passthrough doesn't work properly

Hello, so first here is my configuration : Emby 3.0.8300.0 myKodi 17 Krypton Beta 3 Emby for Kodi Beta 1.0.5 All that on a QNAP 253A to HDMI amp. I understand that my problem maybe comes from the Beta combo Kodi 17 x Emby for Kodi but maybe it's something else I'm missing. First of all I started by installing Kodi 17 without Emby, with my library on the same server and everything was working perfectly with audio passthrough enabled, the 5.1 sounds was working well either in AC3, DTS or AAC5.1 (I installed the last beta Kodi version because I have a lot of film in H265 and it's the only one that supports it perfectly for the moment). And so I decided to centralize all my library through Emby to manage it more easily from my laptop. I've installed the last version of Emby on my QNAP server who works nicely, and the last beta Emby for Kodi add-on finally (cause it's the only one that works on Kodi 17). I didn't have any issue to sync everything, all my films appear great in Kodi. I configured the playback in the Emby add-on options in native path and with no transcode option activated. And there my problem comes: I can play all the video really fine (H.264, H.265) with the audio passthrough in AAC 2.0 but when I play a AAC 5.1 file the back speakers have the same sound coming from the front speakers. And when I try to play AC3 or DTS file it's worst and no sound comes out at all. I tried to deactivate the audio passthrough and the sound is back but with no proper decoding of the 5.1 obviously. I don't know what to do, I only know that the problem comes from the sync with the Emby library because it was working well before I decided to use the Emby add-on, when I had my files directly linked to Kodi. Anyone can help me ? Thanks so much!
  12. After updating the Emby Theater App on the Xbox One I have zero audio (Live TV, all of my Library's or the Trailers plugin). I have re-downloaded and uninstalled Emby from the Xbox store and tried several restarts but get the same results. I can confirm that everything works on Firefox, Windows 10 Theater App, and the iPhone Emby App. Log
  13. Apologies if this has been brought up before, but I'd like to request that a new media type be created for audio files (.mp3 or whatever) that are not considered music. These could be Talk Shows, Audio books, Stand-Up Comedy, etc. For example, I download a show called Mysterious Universe via an RSS downloader. I would use the Podcasts plugin, but it doesn't support usernames and passwords. Anyway, I download these into a folder that is part of collection in Media Browser. Everything gets added correctly, except these mp3's are considered Music by Media Browser. So now these files are displayed when I browse through my music. I'd like to have them separated as a media type, but a better type doesn't seem to exist. Thanks for reading!
  14. Hi, I'm trying to add some random audio files that are not music (downloaded podcasts, etc.) to my library. I've placed them in file structure that logically groups them and tried to add top level folder to the library. I've tried to add it as Video content, as Music content, as "Mixed" content - same issue. No matter how I do it - they will not show up. It looks something like this: ...\AudioContent\ ...\AudioContent\Group1\ <a bunch of .MP3 files here> ...\AudioContent\Group2\ <a bunch of .MP3 files here> etc.. I'm trying to add ...\AudioContent\ to my library. What am I doing wrong? Thank you!
  15. Hey, I want to sync my newest movies/seasons to a folder to copy them onto my iPad (with infuse 4). Setting this up was pretty easy but I only got one audio channel (the wrong one). How can I tell what language the transcoded version should have? Is there an option to have both channels? Can I set subtitles as well? I used "General-High". Besides how do you get your movies on your iPad. Streaming over the internet to the Emby-App isn't an option. Thanks, charmaex
  16. Not sure if this is just happening to my device or if its applicable to other peoples too. I've found a few things I think are related to what I'm experiencing. https://www.amazon.com/forum/fire?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx2L8EBNTOXFSA7&cdThread=Tx2F9AEX67KT6RT https://www.reddit.com/r/fireTV/comments/497zhl/amazon_fire_tv_2nd_gen_audio_issues/ http://www.aftvnews.com/dolby-surround-sound-issues-on-2nd-gen-fire-tv-amazon-working-on-a-fix/ I've been noticing an issue with pretty much any content being streamed to my second generation fire tv box. It dose not seem to be just Emby but also on Netflix, BBC news and a few other media applications. When ever a video is played either the audio dose not work at all or has an odd issue where it'll play normally for around 20 seconds then it'll drop out for a few seconds then come back and repeat the cycle. Its happening with all the containers and codecs I've tried so far including MP4 / MKV -ACC -AC3 -MP3 -Dolby surround Is anyone else having similar issues with it?

    Audio Sync Issue

I'm running the latest beta (v1.2.20a dated 02 July 2016) on my Amazon Fire TV Stick and I have an issue All my Movies have their audio sync out by 3100 (milli seconds I assume). I can resync the audio because there is an option in the player :-) however it is a bit of a bind having to change the delay every time I play a film. As an aside the option to sync the audio is missing from the player when playing TV shows which seems inconsistent at least. Can we have this option whatever is playing? Once I have amended the audio delay for the film that is playing then the audio remains in sync with the video with no problems which suggests the stick has enough power to decode etc. Same movies work fine on the PC either played in media player via the samba mount or using the web client. Also I seem to remember that previously there was an option to set the size of the buffer (in seconds). I wonder if increasing the buffer would help with this issue. Any thought and assistance gladly received F
  18. Emby team, You were able to do this in Emby for WMC, was hoping you could in Emby Theater, also. Right now Emby Theater shows the first audio track when you pull up the info page for a movie (in my case the 2-ch AAC track). Would prefer it to display the track that is marked as default (in my case the second 6-ch AC3 or third 6-ch DTS audio track). Thanks!
  19. Would it be possible to sort reports by audio or video codec, etc

    Chromecast Audio support?

Would it be possible to add support for chromecast audio with local video? Where only the audio is streamed and the video continues to play locally. Currently, if you try to send the audio through, you can't view locally anymore.
  21. I have a ton of FLAC that I'd like Emby to stream to my Android device and it's unclear how it's transcoding it. I'd like to be able to: Specify the audio codec used to stream audio to my device. E.g. if I have a tablet with a beefy battery, I'd like to stream Opus, which is a more efficient codec but unsupported by my device's hardware codec. If I'm on my phone I'd like to stick to a safe codec supported by my hardware like AAC or MP3. Specify the bitrate. E.g. if I'm on WiFi, send me the original. If I'm not, cut it down to 128kbps.
  22. If I'm watching a video and pause it for more than a minute, when I try to resume it the audio restarts but the video never resumes. The only way I can get video working again is to stop the video and fast forward to the point where I paused it. The server is a dual proc Xeon X5660 @ 2.80GHz with 96GB RAM on a RAID 6 array, so I don't think it's a resource issue. The client is an Nvidia Shield. My only guess is that there is something going on with trans-coding on the server end. From what I can tell unfortunately everything is being transcoded on the server end despite the fact that the shield can handle it. How can I troubleshoot this issue or what info can I provide to obtain assistance?
  23. I'm new to Emby Live TV feature and loving it so far. Sorry if this was asked before but after a search nothing came up. I'm in Spain using a HDHR tuner (HDHR4-2DT) connected to the antenna to tune free to air channels in the DVB-T system. With digital TV we now have the option to choose different audio tracks (ie: spanish, english) and also subtitles (I think is similar to close caption in the US but not exactly the same). Question is: does Emby support to select different audio tracks from a live tv stream (I couldn't see any option) and also to enable subtitles? If yes, does Emby need to have guide data available to support it or it should work without it? Thanks
  24. Hi, When I try watching a tv show from my collection on emby's web client, I only get speech audio from the right speaker, but the laugh tracks and background music play through both speakers. The audio is also noticeably softer (lower volume). When I try watching the same show through emby's windows client (emby theatre), the audio sounds just fine. This makes me think that transcoding is doing something to the audio which it shouldn't, but I can't figure out how to resolve this issue. Is there a way to fix the audio issues perhaps by changing the transcoding options somewhere? I couldn't find any way to change transcoding parameters neither would I know how they should be changed to fix this audio issue. Chromecast Audio Question

Hi, Rather than replace my car head unit with an android one, I was thinking of fitting my old one with a Chromecast audio and hotspotting it with my phone. Would this work? If it does would it play synced audio or would it default to playing a server copy? Would be great to be able to play flac directly in the car.
