  1. Hey guys I almost never share my icons, posters or images I create for my emby server, but this something I've working on today. I was wondering what others think. I kinda like, but I am not sure yet. I was going for kinda the movie theater poster frame look. The other is more of what I have now. I am open to constructive criticism and any thoughts you guys might have. -Smitty018210
  2. Hey there. Up until today I quite enjoyed my first steps with emby as a replacement of my former MediaPortal based media center. What I especially love is that my media center, a regular PC, can now stream to my chromecast, thus freeing up an HDMI port on the TV and allowing me to move the PC away from said TV. However, I can't figure out how to play DVDs I put into the emby server's DVD drive. No luck searching the forums, either. It seems people generally assume DVD to mean either DVD file structures or ISOs (or starting to talk about BluRay which is'n my concern) instead of... you know... the round physical discs. I don't want to rip all of those. I tried making a library "DVD" of type "Movies" and added the optical drives to that. However, opening that from either the web app or the Android app just shows two VIDEO_TS "folders" with a play button that only leads to an error. The app even says that playback of a DVD folder structure is experimental - while I was hoping for a behaviour more akin to VLC and such (letting me open the drive as a medium). So... what's the way to get DVDs to be played and streamed? Maybe I should add that I also bought emby premiere today to see if there were any more apps that might accomplish this but it seems that only allows actual usage of the apps I can browse. None of which, to be honest, are of any interest to me. Neither are the download options or basically anything Premiere provides ^^ And I don't mean that as criticism, I can see why others are interested in those things. All I care for is a list of stuff I can play and being able to browse and play it. I don't need preview pics, scene images, ... I'd be fine with lists. Also it's nice I can do this from anywhere when I'm out and about. And, well, I'd like to play my DVDs (locally) But I'd be happy to have premiere even if it's just to support the devs. Thanks for listening and to anybody who can help me out! Best reagrds Floutsch PS: Also maybe, Let's Encrypt should maybe be integrated directly. I really don't want to have IIS running just for that. But that's more of a suggestion
  3. I realise this isn't really an Emby thing, but while I've been trying to replace my DVDs with Blurays, there's still quite a few to go, and some will no doubt be staying put. So, in the meantime and in order to save a bit of space, does anyone know of a program that'll remove surplus audio and video tracks from something like this... ...without actually going to the trouble of compressing / handbraking the file ? Thanks.
  4. I had an idea since I know passing blue ray and DVD menus is not an option. What about when we click a movie Emby first presents users with a menu of available options to select from. Like available audio and subtitle options it sees within the file and srt files. And possibly the subfolders listed extras. This would present a menu style look and could use the background for the menu from the background image scraped from tmdb. Just a thought. I see this topic a lot and thought hell maybe people would like this. Myself I usually only put what I want in the encodes but figured I'd share.
  5. Hello, first, thanks for the greats efforts you guys have spend to build such nice media center! I have moved from XBMC to MB recently hand found myself left with some unanswered questions. DVD rips means for me to copy the DVD main movie only with two audio tracks and related subtitles into VIDEO_TS folder structure. This has been done for hundreds of DVD and VLC and other can play such flawless. If I do now the same thing in MBT the main movie starts, but compared to XBMC the following issues are occurring: · No time code / runtime · No fast forward or any kind of such · No way to pick a different audio track nor subtitle * * I know that 'i' shortcut will bring a menu. And this is of course working fine on my m2ts Blu-ray rips in term of changing the audio stream. But with the DVD rips, the menu point for Audio is gone. Transcoding the same DVD rips (via Android device) let me choose the correct audio track. Of course, in LAV and on the server side I have set the default language, but its still picking the wrong audio track in MBT However, since it depends on my current moot to listen to native or English language is there an easy way I might have overseen to change the audio track during the runtime? Thanks & Regards, Klapetste

    Deinterlace of NTSC DVD content?

Is there a way to enable automatic deinterlacing for MKVs extract from NTSC DVD files? Playing back DVD content I see strong interlacing artifiacts (offset horizontal lines, particularly around edges). (A quick check with VLC, turning on its deinterlacing feature eliminates that artifact, showing it's deinterlacing that's needed.) Not sure if this is a Server or Application-specific question. Thanks.

  9. Hi ebr, The last week or so I have being ripping my DVD's and Blu-Ray's to my my library, and have been using the 'Treat image as...' field as such. I have found though, when I apply the treatment, then go back and refresh the page, the treatment sometimes applies in the Suggestions view, but not the Movies view. I have found that if I edit the primary image and select a different image, or even the same one... then go back and refresh the page, it works. Is this intended, or a bug?
  10. @@babgvant I have found an issue in the v2.0 emby theater where Anamorphic DVDs converted to mkv format are not displayed properly. Emby seems to follow the video pixel width parameter (720) in the mkv header, but not the display width parameter (853). This results in the video being player back in 4:3 (720x480) instead of 1.78 ratio (853x480). All other players seem to follow the display width including Emby server. Has anyone else had this issue?
  11. Folks - Apologies if I am asking a question that has already been answered.. I've done a lot of searching and can't find the answer, or I've found it and totally not understood... I've been creating Stub files for all of my DVD's (not interested in converting them - I just want Emby to gather all the meta-data) - holding off on the TV Series DVD's, and that went beautifully... I'm now trying to do the same for TV Series on DVD such as Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, and such. I created the folder for the DVD Season, then the dvd.disc stub file - for example: American Horror Story - Hotel (2016) > American Horror Story - Hotel (2016).dvd.disc I've waited for the scheduled processes to run through for gathering all the meta-data, and Emby doesn't seem to know what to do with these TV Series on DVD - as it is not gathering any meta-data with this setup. Do I have to treat "TV Series" DVD's differently than "Movie" DVD's? As in, creating the structure described here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/TV%20naming I had hoped/thought that at least the high level meta-data for the season would be pulled (artwork, actors, and so forth) - as I am not too concerned about data for the individual detail of episodes on/per DVD... Could someone enlighten me on what I am doing wrong or point me to where it is already explained? Thanks!

    DVD Menu Navigation

Howdy all! Usually I rip my DVDs as main movies only, but I have a few discs that I needed to rip with full menus. My question, which I have searched for an answer to and surprised I haven't found more on the topic one way or the other, is how are people handling playback for these? I use Media Browser Classic's built-in play back normally and would prefer to use that if possible. I can't use the direction buttons on my remote or even the mouse to manually pick the menus. Is there a way to do this from Media Browser? Thanks for any leads!
  13. Hi, Just recently, the last few BDs that I have added to my media library in ISO format are showing up with DVD covers instead of Bluray covers in MBT. When I try and play them, TMT 6 is launched but the ISOs will not mount or play (presumably because it is looking for a VIDEO_TS folder?). If I quit MBT and double-click one of the new the ISO files in Explorer to have Daemon Tools mount it, TMT 6 then launches and plays the disc without any problems. Any ideas why these recent ISOs are being seen as DVDs? They have folder names in the format <Film Name><space>[bD], just like all the others that work. The folder contents have the usual graphic files and a movie.xml file. I have compared the movie.xml files with films that work and can see no significant differences. MBS version 3.0.5818.0 MBT version 3.05859.23399 Thanks

Xbox One raw MKV from DVD

I apparently had addressed this locally on some/most of my devices in the past. However, we received an Xbox One for Christmas and have been playing with that quite a bit. It was great to see out of the box 80% direct play for our library on the Xbox One. Then I ran across the following: No direct play profiles found for Path:...mkv It turns out the something like the following needed to be added to our DLNA profile for the Xbox One: <DirectPlayProfile container="mkv" audioCodec="ac3,aac" videoCodec="mpeg2video" type="Video" /> The current system DLNA system profile for the Xbox One contains: <DirectPlayProfile container="mp4,mov,mkv" audioCodec="aac,ac3" videoCodec="h264,mpeg4" type="Video" /> This can be handled in a number of ways. The important thing for our case was to ensure mpeg2video codec, which was coming from our raw MKV from DVD, was listed as a valid video codec for direct play with the mkv container. I essentially changed the above to : <DirectPlayProfile container="mp4,mov,mkv" audioCodec="aac,ac3" videoCodec="h264,mpeg4,mpeg2video" type="Video" /> and now our raw dvd/mkv rips play back via Xbox One media player just fine.

Hi, I've been experimenting with Emby (and comparing plex/kodi) over the past couple of days for my existing ~500 movie collection of mixed formats including about half in ripped-dvd MovieName>VIDEO_TS>MovieFiles structure. Would you please be able to help me with the following final problem which I have: • movies structured as "moviename > VIDEO_TS > VOBfiles" show up in library yet do not play (tested on web client and android app) [screenshots attached] • movies structured as "moviename > VOBfiles" show up in library and DO play just fine • I would like to figure out how to use the first hierarchy since that's dvd standard and how my files currently exist What I've tried: • I deleted that xml file visible in the screenshot • the emby naming guidelines suggest that a video_ts folder or a video_ts.ifo file will work, however I have not been able to make the folder route work. • searching google and the forums, I've only found people having the reverse problem • a similar problem in Kodi was solved by editing the regex; however, I have not been able to locate that in emby Thanks! -Adrik my testing setup: emby server 3 downloaded yesterday mac mini 2014 model; 2.6ghz intel core i5; 8gb ram; osx 10.10.2 viewing in android app and web client on chrome Version 46.0.2490.86 (64-bit) after i get everything working, putting emby on my freeNAS
  16. Hello, Please refer to https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/TV%20naming I have box sets of TV shows on DVD and Blu-Ray. Ripped to folders (Video_TS and BDMV). Take for Example: Dungeons and Dragons @ TVDB http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=77129&lid=7 Dungeons and Dragons Disc 1: Season 1 episodes 1 - 9 Dungeons and Dragons Disc 2: Season 1 episodes 10 - 13 and Season 2 episodes 1 - 5 Dungeons and Dragons Disc 3: Season 2 episodes 6 - 8 and Season 3 episodes 1 - 6 I tried the following, the closest variation I could think of from the Wiki wondering if it would work, but of course it doesn't work quite right \\Server\TV Shows\Dungeons & Dragons\Dungeons & Dragons S1E01-09\Video_TS \\Server\TV Shows\Dungeons & Dragons\Dungeons & Dragons S1E10-S2E05\Video_TS \\Server\TV Shows\Dungeons & Dragons\Dungeons & Dragons S2E06-S3E06\Video_TS What is shown in Kodi is Dungeons and Dragons\Season 1\ Episode 1 'and then lists the titles of ep 1 - ep 9' Dungeons and Dragons\Season 1\ Episode 10 The Garden of Zen Dungeons and Dragons\Season 2\ Episode 6 The Last Illusion I can tidy some of this up by editing metadata, but not all of this. Is there a different variation for this scenario? Or a different recommendation (other than ripping individual episodes to video files of course) --------------------------- Related question: What if a special episode is on the same disc? Kinda the same situation as above. Extra credit question: I'm still searching on this. Apparently, Emby doesn't 'link' individual episodes to episode chapters within the disk? Just does what the first line shows above which lists all title names on one line for the one disc? -------------------------- Emby Server Windows v3.0.5724.6 Emby on Kodi 1.02 Kodi 15.2 Windows 10 Pro ------------------------ Thanks!

    DVD VOB Playback Order

I have been running media browser in general for about 3 years now and upgraded to media browser 3 maybe 4 months ago. Right now its running the latest version. Its an awesome product but something started happening this week that I haven't been able to find a solution for. I don't know if its server or client related. When playing DVD rips through the web client often the .VOB files are played in the wrong order. It always starts the movie in the right order but once the first file is done it seems to randomly pick a next file. Its weird to start watching only for it to jump to the credits after 10-15 minutes. This doesn't seem to happen when using the WMC Client. It only happens when using a browser both local and remote for playback. I haven't been able to verify if this is happening on all the DVD rips but what I have seen is that when it does play out of order for a movie it maintains that same order for that movie. If I play that movie in the WMC client it plays just fine. All the DVDs were ripped using DVDFab 9 using the main movie option. Origional format was maintained so both the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders are intact. On the server the movies are stored using the following format: /media1/Movies/Movie Title (YYYY)/VIDEO_TS/* --For DVD or /media1/Movies/Movie Title (YYYY)/Movie Title (YYYY).mkv --For blu-ray The root path of /media/Movies is was was added to the library. I have multiple /mediaX folders spanning different drives but all are in the same format. Everything was detected without any issues after the initial LONG scan and all metatdata updated. Again great product! If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

    DVD rips

Just wondering if DVD rip playback is available in MBT yet ? For me, that means can I play DVDs ripped into video_ts folders, as mentioned in MBC forum item 'Black screen when playing .vob files inside VIDEO_TS folder'. Thanks.

  21. Hello, I don't know if this is possible, but I would really like if the chapter extraction could follow the chapters that are in a DVD if the source is actualy a DVD (physical, .iso or video_ts) This would be very usefull for music DVD's as it would enable selecting a song instead of the current steps of 5 minutes. Thanks.
  22. @@Tikuf asked to report any issues we may see when playing full DVD rips but let me start by saying that I'm very happy with the new server build and want to thank all devs involved. I've tried playback of 10 DVD's (Only music DVD's as all my movies are mp4's) and I must say I'm very happy with the result! While playing the DVD's on my ipad or with Google Chrome the menus are skipped and playback is started at chapter 1 while in MBT the menus are started, just the way I want it, great! (Now if this: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/4958-fr-server-dvd-chapter-extraction/ is possible I would be extremely happy because I can then start the song I'd like to see and hear) I did find two minor issues; - When I stop a dvd on my ipad I get an error after 5 seconds saying: Movie can not be loaded (not sure if it's the exact words, translated from Dutch it has to be something like that) - The DVDsubs languages are not recognized: Thanks! (Maybe a mod can move this post to the server section, after posting I realized I was in the wrong place)
