Hello, I didn't see a post about this, so I thought I would ask. I'm pretty sure this has something to do with fedora, because the webplayer works fine at home on chrome/firefix/qutebrowser on arch (client side), however I'm currently on a fresh install of fedora (client side) and when I try to play a move in chrome or firefox, it hangs and in the js console I get a message about websocket problems. I added a few things to my apache config to try and fix this, but I went from a 404, to a 500 and then to a "Invalid Socket response" message. I'm wondering if I just forgot to install some library on the client side that is causing the browsers not to run the web player correctly. I checked the emby server logs and everything on the server end seems to be in order, emby even thinks the transaction was successful and shows the movie currently being played even though the web player stalled out in the browser. Nothing is showing up in the apache logs ether, so the proxypass I have set up is working fine. So my question is, could I be missing some libraries that chrome/firefox needs in order to properly talk over a webshell? I will be happy to provide the logs I mentions if you would like, but I don't know that it will be necessary as both (emby server and apache error logs) are clean.

Recently, I have been unable to play many of my video files (movies and TV shows). Once I press play on my Roku remote, it seems to get stuck on a blank screen with the name of the video and "Retrieving" showing, with the green progress bar 1/3 of the way through. I've attached my log file. I've searched and read through many trouble shooting techniques (including lowering the bitrate, deselecting hardware acceleration throttling, etc) but nothing seems to help. It is a wired system (not wireless). Any suggestions? Log.txt

Hello, My TV model is: UE32H6400 and I have been running the community app version 2.2.2 for couple months now with no issue at all. First of all I was excited to read that now the app is available in the official samsung store for users in UK and I am now running version 0.109 at the same time. Its very handy that I didn't had to delete the community app and have them both installed, as some problems I have with version 0.109 are non existent on 2.2.2 Those in detail: 1) I have noticed when I am running version 0.109, from time to time when I am browsing through my library, the server app on my dedicated windows pc crashes and I have to manually re-start it (only the app, not the PC). Maybe that's a server issue as I have also noticed that it happens after upgrading to 3.2.36.0. 2) Version 2.2.2 starts 3D movies just fine as long as you have configured each movie properly through the metadata manager menu -in my case it's the HSBS option- so you don't have to manually choose this with your remote control. I can't seem to be able to run any 3D movie with version 0.109 3) In version 0.109, when a movie is playing I don't seem to be able to view the progress bar when I pause the movie. I also can't choose a specific chapter or use the playback bar to move further ahead onto another segment of the movie. Fast forward buttons on the remote seem to be ok. 4) I would love to have an option in version 0.109 to increase the subtitles size if possible. All my movies are MP4 with AAC 5.1 audio, 2000 to 2500 bitrate H264 encoding so direct play works flawless on both TV apps and on my iPhone app as well. Another really nice thing I have noticed is that the video playback looks crispier and sharper through the 0.109 app comparing it to the 2.2.2 version. Now that I am thinking of it, the only thing differently I did when I have installed the new 0.109 app, is that I've used the PIN option to connect to my EMBY server. I can also try disconnect and connect manually with my local IP just to see if that makes any difference for the above issues although I don't think it would be related. All those are minor problems of course. I am happy having both apps installed, I just thought to share my testing results with you guys for future improvements. Thanks again for all your hard work, EMBY as always is awesome!!

I have some problem with the playback of Multi-resolution movies. It seems Emby is not selecting the correct version. I thought Emby clients where capable to select the correct version? I have tested this with Emby Theater (Xbox One, Windows Store & Desktop) and the webapp. All of them are using the highest quality version instead of selecting the one with the correct resolution. On my Xbox One S this is a big problem because it selects the 4K version of a movie instead of the 1080P version. I don't have a 4K screen, so I get a green screen.

Hi, I'm having a fairly recent problem (not sure which version of Emby this has started from). When I try to stream a Live TV channel it doesn't play, I just get the spinning circle of death but when I refresh the page and try to play again it works fine. I have attached the server log and the two ffmpeg logs. I'm running the latest stable version of Emby 3.2.33 on Windows 10 with a DVBLink backend. Any help is greatly appreciated! Hello all, ever since the new Roku layout and all came out when you hit the okay button on the Roku remote you don't get the same info you use to get. One of the nice things to know is if a video is direct playing or transcoding. This helps to know if that may be a reason for buffering or not. I know not many users would probably need or want to know this unless they are a "power" user. I would like to see this tiny piece of information added back.

I've ripped some old cartoon series several years ago by extracting the videoTS folders straight from the DVDs but when I attempt to play them, I get unspecified errors (not timeout related) after about half way through the first episode of a multi episode videoTS folder. Later I found that it would start playing a different vob file or would play the vob file out of sequence which would cause playback to error out. About two years ago, I started transmuxing DVDs to MKVs for compatibility sake but i've been avoiding trying to do that with the videoTS folders as i have about 80-100 of those for a total of 5-8 cartoon series. Is a feature like this possible in the least?

I've been testing the playback quality and consistency for Recorded Media through my HDHOMERUN Connect. My roku 2 can play my local dvds and bluray files without any issues. However, I recently recorded a "Track and Field" sports program and it constantly buffers/loads every 1-3 minutes when I try to play it back on my roku 2. Emby is set to: -Convert to MP4 on the fly -Preserve original video & audio -Transcoding is set to "Auto" for the thread count -"Throttling" is enabled for Transcoding Roku is set to: -30 Mbps UHD for the Video Quality Stream (i changed this to 20 Mbps but with no effect) S7 Edge is set to -20 Mbps HD for the Video Quality Stream (also successfully tested this as 30 Mbps for the stream) Connection -I have a 50 Mbps connection and my roku 2 is wired to a gigabit Ethernet port on my Router. -S7 Edge was on a Wireless AC connection with a link rate of 400 Mbps plus Now I tried playing back the same "Track & Field" recording on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge through the Emby Android App and I had no problems whatsoever. I was reading on similar issues reported and i'm thinking the issue might be because the roku 2 can't play back the native framerate so its still transcoding even though its in a streaming-friendly format but if that is the case, I want to know how to go about fixing it. The 1057pm file should be the roku playback log while the 1054pm file should be the S7 Edge playback log. 7-11-17 @ 1054pm.txt 7-11-17 @ 1057pm.txt

[Solved] Video playback is jerky or stops immediately on specific videos
the_57th_bob posted a topic in General/Windows
I have a bizarre problem with playback of some videos. It consistently occurs with the same videos, but the symptoms are different depending on the video. When one video has the problem, the others do to. The problems only appear on some client apps, but which clients the problems appear on is also consistent. Here are two videos that exhibit the two problems. The first is the video starting, then stopping immediately, or playing the sound only. The server log for this problem is server-63635241600_hobbit.txt. server-63635241600_hobbit.txt ffmpeg-remux-8f75321d-20d6-4e36-9e66-4b6d5c93f046.txt is transcoding for Safari on iOS 10, where playback stops immediately without playing any of the video or sound, and the interface returns to the video information page, as if the video had finished playing to the end normally. I see the same behaviour in the Emby iPad app. The relevant lines in the server log are 1 to 40. ffmpeg-remux-8f75321d-20d6-4e36-9e66-4b6d5c93f046.txt ffmpeg-remux-788b2900-4fd1-4e8c-8e21-8698a1a222b4.txt is transcoding for Safari on MacOS, where the sound plays but there is no video, just a black screen with the interface showing when clicked. The relevant lines in the server log are 41 to 141. ffmpeg-remux-788b2900-4fd1-4e8c-8e21-8698a1a222b4.txt ffmpeg-remux-d022bd9f-0502-46dd-9782-2de4cdeaafda.txt is transcoding for Firefox on Linux, where playback works without a problem. The relevant lines in the server log are 142 to the end. ffmpeg-remux-d022bd9f-0502-46dd-9782-2de4cdeaafda.txt The above behaviour is highly consistent (there are very rare occassions when it works, but I don't know what triggers them), and always happens on this video. The second problem, which happens on a different video, is the playback being jerky. The sound continues normally without stopping, while the video plays for half a second or so, then stops for a second or so, then jumps to catch up with where it should be. When the video jumps there is sometimes blockiness, which suggests to me missing data in the video stream. The server log for this problem is server-63635241600_avatar.txt. server-63635241600_avatar.txt ffmpeg-remux-d15fda75-1e56-4590-8810-cdf1724e7127.txt is transcoding for Safari on iOS 10, where the video is jerky. The relevant lines in the server log are 79 to 174. ffmpeg-remux-88a52558-8b56-404b-98ff-2f9cad9adf47.txt ffmpeg-remux-86a924fb-aa6c-496d-8737-27fa10fe879f.txt is transcoding for Firefox on Linux, where playback works without a problem. The relevant lines in the server log are 175 to the end. ffmpeg-remux-86a924fb-aa6c-496d-8737-27fa10fe879f.txt As with the first problem, the above behaviour is highly consistent, and always happens on this video. Both the iPad and MacOS are streaming over wifi, through the same access point (but not at the same time) while Firefox is running on a desktop with a wired connection. Is this perhaps a problem with available codecs on the server? The server is running on Debian Linux 9. I don't think it's a hardware problem because I have other videos which are also HD with DTS audio that play fine on all clients, and the transcoding logs show that transcoding is well ahead of the playback rate. The hardware is a Xeon D-1521 at 2.4GHz. -
Greetings, I've really been enjoying running Emby on an old Mac Pro that was given to me; generally with the two Xenons I figured it'd do alright and for the most part I've been correct - across a vast range of media it plays things back flawlessly. However, I watch a lot of Anime (which is an understatement) and a lot of it features subtitles of the ASS variety. Usually when I watch them with VLC on a computer just like the one I have Emby running on, they move fluidly with all the crazy animations that the subbers have added; but in Emby when streaming to any other client that apparently isn't the case. They are often just a little slow, even in shows that have really minimal subbing and in the ones that have crazy stuff going on I've actually seen it pause the video intermittently and take a break during heavy sections like the openings and endings. If you wanna see what a log looks like of me watching an entire episode of something you can find it attached Log.txt . Basically, is there anything I can do to improve playback and prevent this from happening? I really don't want to bake these in to my files, but maybe I'd experience more uniform experiences if I shelled out for a GTX 950 with NVENC or something. What's your opinion? Anyone else have this happen to them? Thanks -Kb

Would be great if we could optimize the time to tune to make this closer to real-time. I've been using the IPTV plugin to view my cam streams and there is usually a 10-15 sec delay. In contrast, when I use VLC player to view the stream there is ~2 sec delay.

@@ebr -- Have you received reports of playback regressions on v2.9.07? I've been watching Emby videos on my phone for many months so I think this bug was introduced recently. Example: 1) I'm watching a video and I'm 15min in and I want to rewind a few minutes so I show the seek bar and then I tap earlier on the timeline 2) The video pauses for about 15 seconds 3) The video resumes playing at like 23min in (so it went to a different time than I clicked, in this case it even went forward instead of backwards) I also tried pausing the video, changing the seek location, and hitting play -- at which point it began playing from the beginning of the video. Thanks! EDIT: The situation I described about pausing the video and it restarting the video at the beginning -- actually it was starting at the beginning of NEXT episode. So by trying to seek it bailed on the episode altogether and started playing the next episode.

Playback problems when direct streaming on Roku ("Loading..." shown every few minutes)
auujay posted a topic in Roku
When watching rips of Blu-Ray TV shows on my Roku2 I am getting frequent "Loading..." messages when the videos are direct streaming (allowing or forcing transcoding works resolves the problem). The server is running Version 3.2.17.0 on unRaid, though I have noticed the issue for a few days now and it still occurred with at least 3.2.15.0. The server log is attached and shows some exceptions that seem to align with playback. Using the beta Roku app tries to direct stream the content and has the issue. I sent the logs from this app via built-in log submission at 22:18 EDT (GMT-4) on 2017-5-16 (the logged in user is 'Andrew'). Using the Blue Neon Night v4.16 app has the issue when in "auto-detect" or "direct" modes but when forced to transcode it works OK. The "official" Emby app v2.25 works fine as it transcodes the content (the transcode log is attached below). In the server log there seem to be errors that align with the times when playing the video has errors that look like: Error HttpServer: Error processing request *** Error Report *** Version: 3.2.17.0 Command line: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe -programdata /config -restartpath /usr/lib/emby-server/restart.sh Operating system: Unix 4.9.19.0 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True Mono: 4.8.1 (Stable 4.8.1.0/22a39d7 Mon May 15 22:31:44 UTC 2017) Processor count: 2 Program data path: /config Application directory: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin System.IO.IOException: Unable to write data to the transport connection: Connection reset by peer. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: Connection reset by peer at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.EndSend (System.IAsyncResult result) [0x00033] in <5641e4edad4f4464ba58c620a7b8ea48>:0 at System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream.EndWrite (System.IAsyncResult asyncResult) [0x0005f] in <5641e4edad4f4464ba58c620a7b8ea48>:0 --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream.EndWrite (System.IAsyncResult asyncResult) [0x000af] in <5641e4edad4f4464ba58c620a7b8ea48>:0 at System.IO.Stream.<BeginEndWriteAsync>m__8 (System.IO.Stream stream, System.IAsyncResult asyncResult) [0x00000] in <dbb16e0bacdc4a0f87478e401bc29b6c>:0 at (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.Func`3[System.IO.Stream,System.IAsyncResult,System.Threading.Tasks.VoidTaskResult]:invoke_TResult_T1_T2 (System.IO.Stream,System.IAsyncResult) at System.Threading.Tasks.TaskFactory`1+FromAsyncTrimPromise`1[TResult,TInstance].Complete (TInstance thisRef, System.Func`3[T1,T2,TResult] endMethod, System.IAsyncResult asyncResult, System.Boolean requiresSynchronization) [0x00002] in <dbb16e0bacdc4a0f87478e401bc29b6c>:0 --- End of stack trace from previous location where exception was thrown --- Does this indicate a network problem on my end? "System.IO.IOException: Unable to write data to the transport connection: Connection reset by peer. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: Connection reset by peer" seems like something bad but I don't think I ever had this problem in the past. I try to encode my Blu-Rays in a way that the Roku app can direct steam them so my server is not forced to transcode. I don't know if this is a case where I accidentally changed my encoding settings so these files are actually different from what I used to do in the past or if Emby changed (server side or in the Roku apps) that is now causing the issue. Going back to older episodes that I am pretty sure used to direct steam just fine now show the problem so I think this is related to an Emby change and not a change in the files I am using. Recent problem since 3.2.14, remote clients running in addon mode cannot play any files with subtitles "playlist cant find next item to play" or " see log for details" if I increase the playback quality to default 100mb it will play and kodi boxes with direct path will play. The only thing that will play on any kodi box is media without subtitle files ( and all my media has subtitle files ) seems to be a combination of Subtitles weather they are enabled or not and transcoding. emby theater works fine remotely 1mb transcoding with or without subtitles, just an issue with kodi both krypton and Jarvis. I've attached kodi logs and server logs. I've uninstalled and reinstalled kodi and re scanned the library and restored user account and settings, reset databases on kodi multiple times with various settings oddly enough it started working while it was doing the first server library scan but once it completed back to not letting things play. Thanks in advance for any help. server-63629884800.zip kodi.log

Really appreciate the effort for multiple versions so far. I have following scenario I have one movie in 2 versions. Once with DTS audio and 1080p x265-10bit video and once with DTS audio and 720p x264-8bit video. If I want to play this file with native support for DTS everything works fine. If I play this file e.g. in chrome it is trying to transcode the x265 file automatically which is very heavy on my cpu as it does not have hardware support for x265. It would be great I were able to choose which specific version I want to play for this reason. Furthermore: It would be great if there was a naming scheme for multiple versions for tvshows. So far I have to manually select them and "group versions" which is okay but it would be great if there would be a way for emby to automatically register them. Maybe if they have the same series+season+ep group them by default or something like that. ~Cheers

Hi, recently I have had some issues with madVR and ET. When i press play on some movies (1080p mkv) my cinema intro plays okay, then when the movie is about to begin, it starts playing 1 frame per second with no sound. The movies plays, but super slow. I have tried to install the newer madVR, but it did not help. Also updated my AMD drivers without any difference. Windows 10 x64, creator update, madVR. Has anyone had this problem before?

Hello folks, Need a little help with issues on video playback. I'm running Emby on Windows 10 with the client/server on the same machine. Emby version 3.2.12.0 with the default installation and I run it on Chrome. I'm using the standard Windows paths (not UNC) for file access. I have some videos that were ripped at 29.97fps and they stream fine to my TV (via chromecast) and play fine locally with the Emby client. Unfortunately the quality of the rips are bad so I found some replacements that have good video quality that play at 25fps. Unfortunately these are choppy when I stream them to my TV. They're even worse when I try to play them locally on my laptop with the Emby client. They're fine playing them locally with VLC. I don't have anything else installed at the moment that I can test streaming. I could re-install Plex to test streaming if needed or maybe the VideoCast extension I used to have installed for Chrome. I'm not sure what's going on or what I need to look at in my Emby config. Maybe it's not even the framerate that's the issue but something else? I have attached the media info of both files. I can attach the logs if needed. I read another post that said if the client and server were on the same machine then UNC isn't needed and to be honest I haven't had this issue before so it's not like this is a chronic issue with most of my videos. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have never been able to get Emby Theater (software not Win store app)to play on my desktop. It has 3 monitor setup. I hadn't gotten around to making a post about it. Emby theater will just play audio of live tv, but just show a black screen. Same black screen with audio plays with local H264 files. When i try to playback my live TV recordings (mpeg2) it just loads it for a sec(black screen) then stops going back to the video description page. Doesn't matter what monitor I load it up on. No change if I toggle the Video rendered form Madvr to EVR etc. I disable my 2 other monitors via the Nvidia control panel and only use my primary monitor, Emby Theater plays all media fine. Currently using Emby Theater 2.5.40. But this issue I noted even back when it first came out. I did it on my GTX 970 and still does it on my GTX 1080. Nvidia drivers made no differance but are current. Still using the same monitors. Windows 10. Not sure on how to get any logs or more info from the software itself. Nothing seems to be reported on the server or transcode logs on the server itself that would indicate an issue. They look the same each time i test it, multi monitor enabled or not.

Hi, I am having a couple of playback issues on Xbox One. 1. Remote users are having issues playing some movies. Trailers play fine, but as soon as the movie starts, is pauses and stutters. 2. Local user (me). Watching tv shows, I have the same issues as remote users with movies, the first episode will play fine, but after the following episode stutters. I have attached the logs. server-63626256000.txt ffmpeg-transcode-78826040-b2df-47d0-92ae-b540314ce645.txt ffmpeg-transcode-b2af8472-5f6a-42b1-8aba-3bbd5d0fb2fb.txt ffmpeg-transcode-e9288225-4cce-49ba-8273-2b0e5f660971.txt server-63626215162.txt ffmpeg-transcode-967cfbe1-a16b-466b-993b-9164af1b6483.txt ffmpeg-remux-aae6faa7-e958-4fe3-bd66-a97f93b51960.txt ffmpeg-remux-e92f4e20-0896-4e89-825c-859eb71b3c02.txt ffmpeg-transcode-c8cf8c17-5135-4c46-a672-6e4b7f138f28.txt ffmpeg-transcode-e53d6eb9-2354-4841-869b-27d7f916f103.txt ffmpeg-transcode-b9443812-6f94-4e3d-99ef-ef8512d46fcd.txt ffmpeg-transcode-cab539ac-7156-4e4f-920a-52114c7142e9.txt ffmpeg-remux-4505b659-7594-41bd-bc1a-46a73c6192a6.txt ffmpeg-transcode-955ee7da-0afc-4038-a1cb-1752b3fb78d4.txt ffmpeg-transcode-878161c9-90c7-4d9f-980b-a1361cf5b3a2.txt ffmpeg-transcode-b282c271-3dce-4839-8375-b6245b322edc.txt ffmpeg-transcode-a5bdf132-5913-4f32-83c8-a068020f6e03.txt ffmpeg-transcode-83bc11fe-b0be-41b0-b397-bbf44dc2134e.txt ffmpeg-transcode-111fe852-e274-4983-810b-70db4e8589df.txt ffmpeg-transcode-63087841-b0c7-413a-a949-a72be0449b1c.txt ffmpeg-transcode-fc254cd6-a688-4347-a968-fff5d1a42c6f.txt ffmpeg-transcode-3a4632e5-d89f-4091-a94d-d2b72fcfe86f.txt ffmpeg-transcode-17128f8e-9634-4d12-ae62-748bbe141026.txt ffmpeg-transcode-d588a594-71df-410b-ae6a-9b0a840c2d7e.txt ffmpeg-transcode-1e97a083-6432-49ff-a90c-e7618ac195b8.txt ffmpeg-transcode-3f20e3c5-12fc-4218-89bd-11e92ae105a2.txt ffmpeg-transcode-32d8775a-2a87-4afb-b282-16be695b6a6f.txt ffmpeg-transcode-41e4aab0-ea2e-4c50-9680-ca74e63d7b8a.txt ffmpeg-transcode-48d23ffb-fb95-41d5-8216-72247459869f.txt ffmpeg-transcode-054577c8-91f9-444d-8048-aaf3ca21bde9.txt

While watching movies / episodes on iOS/AppleTV the play back works great till the last 2 - 8 minutes of playing, Once this happens the item that is playing no longer plays, if i move back and hit the Resume playback at time it still freeze and does not play the video, nor does it show any thing as "loading". It will also fail if i stop the episode and try to scrub through to the point it needs to play. Logs are attached for the latest attempt, Web Player seems to work but I'll have to test when able to watch through while it encodes the video and see if its a FFMPEG.exe issue or something else. ffmpeg-remux-37ce2371-4efc-41eb-9757-924e729debf3.txt server-63625957714.txt Server System Info.txt

EVERY time I startup KODI and try to play a movie, it tells me that one or more of the items failed to play, see log. I dont know what I am looking at in the log. I always have to go to my computer, and manually restart the server. There are even times that I have to complete shutdown the server and restart it. Sunday it happened twice, and I never even closed KODI. I just had it in idle for about an hour. I have attached both logs from that day. Thank you for you help.
