I have one 4K video in my entire library. And this naturally the only movie that has always played with 1960's stop motion animation smoothness. It doesn't matter if I am using a Firestick, Vero4k+, or computer (web browser or embytheater) - it's always jerky. I've tried several different versions of the file, ranging from 5 to 14 GB and it's always the same. The network utilization is never saturated. The only client that will play this video smoothly is my LG TV (that was a shocker). I have noticed that if I use the browser or theater in a maximized or fullscreen state, the jerky playback is at it's worse. If I have it restored or at any window size other than fullscreen, the playback is smoother. Technical data Emby Server Version 4.7.11.0 running on QNAP TS-451+ Clients LG-75NANO91ANA (TV) Firestick Firestick 4K Vero4K+ 3 coumputers with 8th generation i5's and minimum 4GB RAM, no dedicated video cards. The only thing I can think that could be the cause is the display on most clients are 1080. However, while troubleshooting this last night, I changed one computer to a outdated Sony Bravia's native resolution (4K) and the problem still persists. I have attached an excerpt from the embyserver log. I removed the subtitle search that it does over night and my wife's binge watching background noise. There were no ffmpeg-transcode log, so I didn't have one to attach. Any help appreciated. embyserver_2023-03-20.txt

1st time user to Emby. Installed Emby "Premier" version com.emby.embyserver_4.5.4.0.apk on my NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro with latest NVIDIA updates. Testing with Avatar 1080p and 1080p 3D in MKV containers or file formats. (My legal ripped content. ) I am getting choppy Video stream or buffering not sure. I noticed in the attached log file that there are "Could not find codec parameters for stream" items. Not sure if this has anything to do with the issue. I ran Emby Server on a standalone windows 10 desktop (AMD Phenom II X6 109T 3.2GHz with 8GB or RAM on the same network and it has a very quick response time. Super fast! Love it! Not sure why I cannot get a smooth stream from the Nvidia Shield TV Pro. Looking for any assistance anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. ffmpeg-transcode-c5befcfc-9d86-401f-9eed-779c55f5426c_1.txt

Hello folks, Need a little help with issues on video playback. I'm running Emby on Windows 10 with the client/server on the same machine. Emby version 3.2.12.0 with the default installation and I run it on Chrome. I'm using the standard Windows paths (not UNC) for file access. I have some videos that were ripped at 29.97fps and they stream fine to my TV (via chromecast) and play fine locally with the Emby client. Unfortunately the quality of the rips are bad so I found some replacements that have good video quality that play at 25fps. Unfortunately these are choppy when I stream them to my TV. They're even worse when I try to play them locally on my laptop with the Emby client. They're fine playing them locally with VLC. I don't have anything else installed at the moment that I can test streaming. I could re-install Plex to test streaming if needed or maybe the VideoCast extension I used to have installed for Chrome. I'm not sure what's going on or what I need to look at in my Emby config. Maybe it's not even the framerate that's the issue but something else? I have attached the media info of both files. I can attach the logs if needed. I read another post that said if the client and server were on the same machine then UNC isn't needed and to be honest I haven't had this issue before so it's not like this is a chronic issue with most of my videos. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, I've been using Emby for quite a while without any issues that would prevent me from watching videos, etc. However, after updating the server to the latest version (4.1.0.26 on armv7 on Debian) there are some issues with video playback. Before the update, I was able to stream videos (H264 in MKV containers) without the need to transcode them. I am running the server on a RaspberryPi 3B, so transcoding would not be an option as it definitely can't happen in realtime (log attached). After the update, the videos somehow need to be transcoded in order to be played back properly. TranscodeReasons=ContainerNotSupported Why is there a flag set for mkv not being supported? Few lines higher: 2019-04-22 11:54:23.059 Info App: Profile: Unnamed, Path:*****.mkv, isEligibleForDirectPlay: True, isEligibleForDirectStream: True This would not be an issue if the transcoding was happening in realtime, but its not. I tried disabling hardware acceleration in the server settings, and yes, it did prevent the transcoding process from executing, the video did start, but it was choppy, it kept buffering after three seconds of playback, which I suppose was playing OK before updating. Note that I obviously tried playing different files, with similar results. I have to note that I am using an app remotely, yes, connections both on the server and client side are an another variable in the process, but I highly doubt it could have such an impact, this wasn't happening before. I'll test it in a few days using local connection and post the result here. Attaching emby and ffmpeg logs (I replaced my IP with some text for safety reasons). Thanks for the help. --Edit: I've found some older logs from previous server version, the transcode flag was still set, but it wasn't transcoding the file but "StreamTranscode". I also attached the old logs. embyLog.txt ffmpegLog.txt oldFfmpegLog.txt oldEmbyLog.txt

I have a Nexus 9 32GB LTE (International Version [use it as wifi only though]). I like to use the tablet on road trips to watch my Emby content. I have the Emby app installed. Whenever trying to stream content on the Nexus 9, I regularly get a green and pink jumbled image or it is very choppy... like a low framerate and the video is way behind the audio. The only temporary solution I found for this is to force the quality to 720p -1mbps. Anything higher than that will cause it to be choppy or green... is anyone else having this issue that can recommend a solution? when setting the quality that low on a 9 inch screen it is definitely noticeable. Seems to be unique to Emby, Netflix and Plex work fine on any quality. Tethered internet bandwidth isnt an issue either, usually getting 10-50mbps

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone's experiencing laggy/choppy emby theater desktop user interface? i've had this issue since day dot of the new theater, across multiple PC's, multiple TV's, and still unable to pinpoint it. Both boxes I've tried it on have been dedicated HTPC's, with nothing but NVidia drivers, emby server, emby theatre, windows 10 and windows 10 with CU, mpchc, lav, madvr. The current hardware it's running on is asus maximus ix rog mobo, i7-7700K, 16gbddr4-3200mhz, m.2 intel ssd, and gtx 1070, displayed on a Samsung KS9000 tv. Surely this hardware is capable of running the UI smoothly? I've also tried changing the increasing the priority on the electron and emby.theatre processes in taskmanager, running as administrator, adjusting NVidia driver settings to run exe's with different quality/performance settings, etc. I've tried reinstalling NVidia drivers, and re-installing emby theatre. I've noticed the emby theatre UI doesn't load up true full screen no matter what, but instead as a full screen sized window. I found in older versions I was able to shrink to a smaller window, and then re-maximize which would go proper full screen, and I'd get slightly better UI performance, but no dice this time around. Has no effect at all. I'll get a few good seconds of buttery smooth UI transitions, and then jitter city like I've gone back into 23hz. What I've just thought of now but haven't tested is wiping out all artwork, and getting it to re-download it all to a single location (cache area of emby theater on the ssd).. if that's possible.. instead of the media folders.. or does emby server grab the artworks from the local media folders and cache them anyway? accessing it from there? another thing to note: emby server is pointing to local drives, ie: G:\Storage\, as opposed to network location \\MEDIA-PC\Storage, as Emby Theater is also running on the same box as the server app. anyone experienced it or know anything else I can try? Cheers

Recently picked up a HD Homerun Extend (Hdtc-2us) and I noticed that when watching Live TV on emby via roku that the HD channels are choppy. The SD channels are clear. Any idea on what could cause this, and how to fix it? I'm a first time poster so I will be happy to forward any additional needed info.
