I am on Emby Server 3.0.6400.0. Upgraded today and this problem existed before the upgrade. I upgraded thinking it might have been related, but I guess not. Essentially, during playback the video pauses itself every 10 - 20 seconds. It's not just a freeze. If I look at the video status it is truly paused. Then it plays itself again. I have tried wireless and over Ethernet. Same result. I don't notice any difference between playback client (AndroidTV via Nexus Player / Nvidia Shield, Android, or PC Browser) I have included the logs but i'm not seeing anything very telling. Please let me know if there is anything else I can pull to investigate. I have included several logs. The only error I'm identifying regularly is pasted below. I've noticed an odd occurence with my emby server. Which is running on Ubuntu server 16.10. It seems fine for days, then suddenly you can't connect to it remotely via the app or web. It says server may be offline. Well, if I log into the server from home, it shows as being active for a week or two weeks, for example. If I try to select the remote link in the manager server window however, it won't come up. But, of course, the service shows up locally no problem. I've tried finding anything in the logs, but nothing seems out of place. I've been into my router and nothing is seemingly blocking those ports. I just am at a loss as to why the remote access decides to drop every so often. I could be watching it on break at work for days, then suddenly, it's unavailable. Any ideas where I can go with this? It seems restarting the service fixes it.

Hello, I have been eyeing emby server for some time but did not have time to really get into it much. however, I just got my hands on zotac zbox nano vd01 with 8Gb ram and want to build a new HTPC on it. so here is my needs and wants. 1. the base OS should be Linux, I have nothing against windows but not sure if I want to shell out $150 for it, especially since win7 will be off support soon, and win10 have too much issues being HTPC for me. 2. I want to have a desktop use if needed. most time an TV interface will be used, but if I need to I want to be able to get to a real desktop.. 3. that said, if a TV UI is used I need/want to have a web browsing capability. my current htpc is running Kodi 16.0 but I ma having some issues with it and not sure if I want to keep it. can emby replace my Kodi setup? I do have an OMV based File server and VM server. my media is on that. can I run emby as client on the htpc as described? thanks

I am not sure how to recreate the issue, but for a couple months now my emby-server has just crashed maybe once or twice a day, and I need to restart the service. I kept hoping the next update would resolve it, but it hasn't happened yet... I'm running v3.0.5972 on Arch Linux 64 bit, with an Intel i7 processor and 32GB of RAM. [root@potatofarm]# mono --version Mono JIT compiler version 4.2.2 (Stable 4.2.2.30/996df3c Sun Jan 31 11:58:08 UTC 2016) Copyright (C) 2002-2014 Novell, Inc, Xamarin Inc and Contributors. www.mono-project.com TLS: __thread SIGSEGV: altstack Notifications: epoll Architecture: amd64 Disabled: none Misc: softdebug LLVM: supported, not enabled. GC: sgen When emby is performing normally, I connect to it regularly with my android device and my Kodi device running the Emby plugin for library sync (the server is also running the relevant library sync helper). I don't see anything in the logs that indicates it's related to the library sync helper, but I can't really make heads or tails of these logs anyway. I've disabled all DLNA features of the server because I don't use it, and I saw other people with mysterious crashing issues that were resolved by avoiding DLNA. This doesn't seem to have helped anything. I have lots and lots and lots of small log files which appear to indicate unhandled exceptions, which i'm including the most recent ones of here, along with the last couple of server log files. This is difficult for me to pin down the exact log entries and times specifically because it seems to happen when we're not paying attention to it... we just go over to Kodi and it can't connect, or it already has a warning that the sync thread has failed (presumably because it can't connect). Please let me know if there are any other datapoints i should try to hit. emby_logs.tar.gz

Emby has gotten progressively worse for me over the last few updates. It seems whenever I connect via the Emby android app over 4G the server quits responding for everyone, and the logs show nothing. Now, however, the Emby server will not start and throws some nasty errors! InnerException: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException Address already in use at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Bind (System.Net.EndPoint local_end) <0x41b9ba20 + 0x000ef> in <filename unknown>:0 at SocketHttpListener.Net.EndPointListener.CreateSocket () <0x41b996a0 + 0x000bf> in <filename unknown>:0 at SocketHttpListener.Net.EndPointListener..ctor (SocketHttpListener.Net.HttpListener listener, System.Net.IPAddress addr, Int32 port, Boolean se cure, System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates.X509Certificate cert, ILogger logger) <0x41b992f0 + 0x00227> in <filename unknown>:0 at SocketHttpListener.Net.EndPointManager.GetEPListener (ILogger logger, System.String host, Int32 port, SocketHttpListener.Net.HttpListener list ener, Boolean secure) <0x41b98db0 + 0x0035b> in <filename unknown>:0 at SocketHttpListener.Net.EndPointManager.AddPrefixInternal (ILogger logger, System.String p, SocketHttpListener.Net.HttpListener listener) <0x41 b98810 + 0x000bb> in <filename unknown>:0 at SocketHttpListener.Net.EndPointManager.AddListener (ILogger logger, SocketHttpListener.Net.HttpListener listener) <0x41b98310 + 0x00153> in <f ilename unknown>:0 This happens regardless of the fact that I've rebooted the system. Any assistance would be appreciated. Just became a lifetime supporter and love the product so I would like to see this working Also I would like a good way to roll back updates in the event that you guys break things again Any suggestions on where/how to get .debs for the previous versions?

Hi Been using Emby for a while now with out any problems or issues - which is nice! So this is my first post. Want to say that it's a cracking bit of software which really works for our family - a few kids, a few device and less arguments!! Running Emby on OpenMediaVault NAS and upgraded through the web ui after shutdown the service first. Current version server is 3.0.5985.0 OpenMediaVault version: 2.2.5 Stone Burner Also run a system upgrade at the same time and I believe this updated Mono to 4.4.1.0. After the playback issues presented I backup the installation using the Backup plugin then uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled. Attached both Server and Transcode Log as ZIP files. Tested video playback on Web UI, Samsung TV (2015 model) via DLNA, Samsung Tablet via App and playback is smooth for 15 seconds and then jumps or the image gets corrupted then freeze. I have SAMBA providing path substitution on the single library that been added, I can access and play media from it with no issues - used VLC Music file seems unaffected Hope that's enough information and sorry if I posted in the wrong bit of the forum. Thanks Kentish Log - Transcode.zip Log.zip

Hi, over the last couple of weeks I have been receiving regular freezes/lagging whilst watching several TV Shows in a row with the "Play next video automatically" option enabled in the Settings -> Video -> Playback on Kodi. I have always had this setting enabled as it is useful for my kids to automatically watch a few shows in a row without needing to manually start a new episode after the previous one concluded. Up until recently this setting has worked well and as intended without any issues for months. Now randomly (albeit most of the time) after watching an episode or two, Kodi will freeze/become unrepsonsive. This occurs at the end of an episode as it tries to commence playing the next episode. Through trial and error I determined if you leave it long enough ie ~ 15 mins Kodi will eventually display an error on screen stating it failed to open the source file. Obviously this is not preferable and the only way to continue is forcefully close the frozen Kodi app, re-open and start play the next episode manually. My setup: Emby Linux Mono Version 3.1.47.0 Beta (running on Asustor AS 7010T x64 running latest v2.6.2 linux firmware) Emby for Kodi Sync Queue on Emby Server version 1.0.6020.14567 (although I disabled this on the client for testing and the freezing seems to occur both with/without Fast Sync enabled) Emby for Kodi Beta 2.2.12 SPMC Jarvis 16.3.0 (based on Kodi 16.1 for Android) (running on Nvidia Shield Android TV v3.2) Vanilla SPMC install, running standard Confluence skin with only a couple of simple other addins: Oz Weather, HD Homerun & Multicam (view security cameras) plugins Wired 1Gb ethernet network (I have just tested and the problem occurs also occurs on the standard clean install of the App store version of Kodi 16.1 for Android on the same Nvidia Shield. So I am deducing that it is not a SPMC specific problem) In the below log file, the episode I watched concluded around the 21:43:31 mark. Kodi then Lagged/froze/became unresponsive for ~ 15 mins and at the 22:01:17 mark Kodi finally displayed an error onscreen saying failed to open source for next episode. Kodi/SPMC Log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5mwpokt5vaw856v/spmc.log?dl=0 Thanks for your help and please let me know if you require any additional information.

OpenSubtitleDownloader cannot save file, still attempts download
EruIluvatar posted a topic in General/Windows
Hi there Tl;dr: OpenSubtitleDownloader downloads the subtitles anyway, even though there are no permissions to write them to the filesystem. I found a potential misbehavior of the OpenSubtitleDownloader worker. The case is the following: - repeatedly got notifications about failed subtitle downloads - day after day the same, though there were not many new subtitles to download - thought I got an IP ban (my ISP barely changes IPs because of VDSL, no way to easily renew it but call the hotline...) - e-mailed the admin of opensubtitles.org, asking to lift the ban - turns out there is no ban, but instead I find that my account downloaded more than 22000 subtitles although there way less than 1000 unique titles on my server (hence very few subtitles actually needed) So I started digging a bit deeper and found the following: - First, there are many reports because of "Access to the path ... is denied. System.Unauthorized.AccessException". (There are exactly 200 of those log entries every day, which matches the daily limit by opensubtitles.org.) - After those messages, numberless other entries exist because of "OpenSubtitles rate limit reached, System.ApplicationException". I found the problem being wrong ownership/permission of the folders (my mistake / samba problem, should have known that sooner). My guess is that the OpenSubtitleDownloader downloads the subtitles anyway, even though there are no permissions to write them to the filesystem. This kind of behavior could be fixed, if the permissions were checked first and download initiated later on. It would sure lower the traffic for all parties. Also could help debugging for fellow users, as the download limit is not the actual problem. So, maybe this could be adjusted in the next release? --- Example log entries:- 1 reply

When in the web interface I change the image for a movie. It changes and refreshing the page shows the new image. Then, I presume on the library rescan it reverts back to the original that is stored in the nfo as a url. Is there a setting to stop emby doing this?

Issue: New media is added to my Ubuntu Linux server pretty frequently. I don't want to thrash my storage by consistently kicking off manual scans like I'm doing now. One idea I have is to add a new library source located on SSD to at least speed up the scans, however I only see the option to manually kick off scans for the entire library not just one source. Additionally I don't see an option to schedule scans for a single source. Unfortunately, real-time monitoring of the filesystem doesn't work from what I can see in forum posts. Does anyone have any ideas how I might go about more frequently updating the library without having to manually kick it off or set a scan to automatically happen really frequently?

Hi, i would like to share with this amazing community my project about the perfect low power media center i am trying to build. Some background first : I am a XBMC user since the begining when i was using it on my Xbox. At this time, HD content was just emerging and the Xbox did not have enough power to decode them. Then i moved to a jailbroken AppleTV version 1 (the big white model) with Linux and a Broadcom Chrystal HD card. I was perfectly fine with this solution capable for HD contents (both 720p and 1080p). My only concern was only the power consumption of initial AppleTV, as it could not be turned off or even go to sleep. Moreover i wanted to benefit from my videos when i was away from home on mobile devices (phone or tablet). So i started to use DS Video (a nice solution by the way, provided with my Synology NAS). The problem was that i had to maintain two different libraries (one for XBMC and another one for DS Video). Then i discovered the Cubox-i. It seemed to me that it could replace my old AppleTV as the perfect media center device : really tiny form factor totally silent able to run linux distributions capable of hardware accelerated video decompression XBMC has been ported to the IMX6 Soc used in Cubox-i I pre-ordered one last year immediately. The thing is this little box has so much horsepower (my i4Pro has 4 cores and 2 GB of RAM : around 4 times more than a Raspberry Pi) that it opens to a world of possibilities. Like hosting a centralized media server solution on top of delivering HD content to my video projector using XBMC. If that media server would be capable of transcoding video content on the fly when delivered to mobile devices, my goal would be achieved. This is how i discovered MediaBrowser. Looking for the most appropriate Media server for my needs : fully compatible with XBMC having a linux version having a version running on ARM devices (a big thank to DaBungalow who is maintaining the Archlinux package for MediaBrowser) capable of transcoding and maybe the most important : with a nice / reactive / efficient community (i have been following the forum for a while, i just started posting lately) For people interested, here are the progress i did already : i installed Archlinux on my Cubox-i4Pro i installed MediaBrowser last stable version i struggled to solve the "image not showing in the web client / libGL dependency" issue i installed XBMC (Gotham 13.2 only for the moment, waiting for a release of Helix compatible with Cubox-i) i struggled with XBMC to get the remote app working via editing config files via SSH (my cubox-i has no keyboard or mouse connected to it) and my plan for the future : i have to get XBMC and MediaBrowser work together i have to ensure that MediaBrowser does not transcode video content when it is not necessary i have to update my library with MediaBrowser scrapper i have to talk with MediaBrowser developers about hardware accelerated transcoding possibilities (i have seen one or two threads discussed already in the forum but the most advanced is focused on windows/Intel) In case anybody would be interested in having more details about the steps I already achieved, don't hesitate to ask. But you should keep in mind that we are still at a really early stage with all the different pieces i mentioned : Cubox-i is one year old only. This is young compared to Raspberry Pi for example. And even if the community is active, it is much smaller. Linux on Cubox-i is not as much advanced as on Intel based computer or even Raspberry Pi. Linux kernel is older. MediaBrowser has not support for ARM based device and Linux support is quite new XBMC Helix, the first official version supporting IMX6 Soc, has been released a couple of weeks ago. The package in the main linux distributions is not available yet. We are far from a plug and play solution. Every steps requires quite a bit of knowledge with Linux. You should not be afraid with getting your hand dirty. But the result may be worth the efforts. Thanks again to all the persons working in the shadow on building those awesome pieces of software (MediaBrowser and XBMC). You are really doing an amazing work. esseki

Hi everyone, I just installed emby-server 3.0.5821.1 on Antergos and it's running. I've done the config setup but I can't add any folder to my library. When I go to library/Folders, all I got is a loading circle (can't get it on the screenshot but it's there and spinning) and no option to add any folders : I've waited and tried many times without success. I've joined the log to this post. Thanks. Log.txt

Hello, I'm running Emby in a Docker image, on Unraid. So far very happy with the system, as I am considering moving from Plex to Emby. However, one of the features I do rely on from Plex, is the automatic downloading of Subtitles. I have it configured in Emby, double-verified user / pass was right, and I'm getting nothing but a ton of "Subtitles Failed To Download" My library scan is not complete yet, any help here on why they are failing. Hopefully things start working once the scan for my libraries are done. Maybe it can't tell what subtitle to grab if it hasn't identified the movies yet - what I'm thinking. Can anyone confirm?

Specs: Emby server version: 3.0.5782.0 on a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B (OSMC, Debian Jessie) Music is stored on a Synology NAS My Emby server runs the whole day at 100% CPU, even when it's idle. After rebooting the CPU runs after some minutes back at 100%. There are 2 plugins installed in Emby (Auto Box Sets & Trakt). When I look to the running processes then I see that mono-sgen takes all te CPU and a lot of memory (see attchement CPU.jpg). When I open Emby by the web client then my home screen doesn't load fully, the pointer keeps turning (See attachement Home.jpg). I can go to the server management and some other menuitems but everything is of course very slow due to the CPU utilization of mono. What could generate this problem? I have added my log. I have disabled the library scans some days ago so that shouldn't be to problem. Regards Bernd server-63587697200.txt

Completed Library no longer auto/background updating with alway on Kodi on beta 1.1.72
kryptonyte posted a topic in Kodi
Hi, it seems with the last couple of betas of Emby for Kodi my Kodi library now no longer auto/background updates/syncs. My Nvidia Shield is always left on with Kodi running (sleep/shutdown disabled). My NAS is also always on and media files are regularly auto copied to the monitored Library folders within Emby. It was previously working in the past with the Kodi library updating almost instantly when Emby was updated with new content. The Emby web interface does appear to update in real time whenever new files are added, but Kodi now no longer auto/background updates/syncs the library - unless a user initiated manual sync or Kodi itself is manually restarted. Whenever a new Beta version of Emby for Kodi is updated, I always do a manual entire library reset on Kodi to ensure the local database has the newest updates. As this issue recently started happening, I just performed a complete uninstall of Kodi on my Nvidia Shield and re-installed and re-setup Emby for Kodi Beta on Kodi Jarvis 16.0 Beta 5 (in case something was corrupted on my setup). Unfortunately this did not resolve the issue as auto/background library updates/syncing still are not occurring. Emby Docker image for ARM (armhf arch) mini computers (Raspeberry Pi2, Cubietruck, Odroid, etc.)
kayrus posted a topic in Linux
I didn't find any correct Dockerfile or instructions on how to install Emby on top of armhf architecture so I had to combine some of them and as a result here is working Emby Docker image - https://hub.docker.com/r/kayrus/emby/ I've tested it on my Cubietruck with Debian Wheezy and Linux kernel which supports Docker (>=3.6). For example Armbian for Cubietruck has Linux kernel v4.2.3. In any case even if you don't have Docker you can try to install Emby just following Dockerfile manually. What doesn't work: direct play for all my h.264 MKV videos using web browser (for example direct play of the same videos works perfectly on Plex - https://hub.docker.com/r/kayrus/plex/). I don't know how can I force Emby to disable transcoding for MKV, but it works and it is really slow. Direct play of the h.264 inside the MP4 container works fine. Details on this image: I had to cross-compile ffmpeg, libvidstab1.0 and libx265-59 packages from this PPA repo: https://launchpad.net/~mc3man/+archive/ubuntu/trusty-media/+packages. These packages are available inside the image in /tmp/deb directory. You can compile them yourself using armv7/armhf-ubuntu:14.04.3 Docker image if you wish. Hello. Running build 3.0.5781.4 on Debian 7. I'm able to play music I've uploaded to my library, but the "Scan Library" process doesn't find any new files in my music library; I have to refresh the page before they show up. And when they DO show up, there's no image art. When I go to "Identify" the item, I never get anything back but a bunch of magnifying glass icons. Server log of my latest attempt is here.

Hi, I am in the process of setting up my first Emby server, on Linux Mint 17.2. I don't know if my problem is Linux related or what. The thing is, I have some serious trouble setting up my media libraries. I have my media stored locally on the system's main user, called "hpb". 3 main folders; "Musikk", "Bilder" and "Videoklipp". These are the normal Music, Pictures and Videos folders made by Mint. Within the Videos folder I have subfolders for movies, music videos, home videos and TV series. The TV series folder is so far empty. All folders and subfolders have 777 permissions. I have managed to make libraries for music, pictures and music videos, but I am not able to make any more. When I try to make the movie library f ex, I choose the content type and name, navigate to the Movies folder and click OK, the popup disappears, but no new library is made. This is making me kind of crazy. Also, it took several attempts to make the other libraries. Neither of them worked on first try. Any ideas? Edit: Out of desperation I tried to delete the empty TV series folder. And by some strange reason that seemed to help! I don't know why an empty folder should be a problem...

Hello Emby community, I recently install Emby along side Kodi on our living room raspi running ArchARM. We have a nas with a good 3TB of media on it that we were previously using kodi to browse. However I want to have more power than that so in put Emby along side it. it APPEARS to work beautify Emby and Kodi get along very well and playback is near instant and smooth. the problem is that I can; not for the life of me get the library scan to finish. I finally broke down and cleared the database enabled debug logging and let it run. about 18 hours in it broke again at 46.4% completion (actually the farthest it's ever gotten) Here is the relavent part of the log 2015-12-07 08:19:10.8521 Debug - App: Running FFProbeProvider for /mnt/treebrary_public/Storage/Videos/TV Shows/MLP ISOs/Season 1/MLP_DISC_4.ISO0.8529 Debug - App: Creating mount point /tmp/mediabrowser/783bf595-70a0-4eb1-87c2-bf028558efd7 2015-12-07 08:19:10.8538 Info - App: Mounting /mnt/treebrary_public/Storage/Videos/TV Shows/MLP ISOs/Season 1/MLP_DISC_4.ISO...015-12-07 08:19:15.7975 Debug - App: Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue: User: pinkie - 45f29f45-00ed-4643-ba3a-318d48166790 2015-12-07 08:19:15.7978 Debug - App: Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue: Items Added: 0 2015-12-07 08:19:15.7978 Debug - App: Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue: Items Updated: 10 2015-12-07 08:19:15.7978 Debug - App: Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue: Items Removed: 0 2015-12-07 08:19:15.7978 Debug - App: Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue: Folders Added To: 0 2015-12-07 08:19:15.7978 Debug - App: Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue: Folders Removed From: 0 2015-12-07 08:19:15.8058 Info - App: Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue: Updating ItemId: 'df3fec8de9ee3adbbb7208f23a0a2018' for UserId: '45f29f4500ed4643ba3a318d48166790' in table: 'ItemsUpdatedQueue' 2015-12-07 08:19:15.8058 Debug - App: Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue: Using SQL Statement: 'UPDATE ItemsUpdatedQueue SET lastModified = '2015-12-07T15:19:15Z' WHERE itemId = 'df3fec8de9ee3adbbb7208f23a0a2018' and userId = '45f29f4500ed4643ba3a318d48166790'' 64-Bit Process: False Program data path: /var/lib/emby Mono: 4.2.1 (Stable 4.2.1.102/6dd2d0d Sun Nov 29 12:05:19 MST 2015) Application Path: /usr/lib/emby-server/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe The process must exit before getting the requested information.
