Sometime in the past week playing video files that are transcoded stopped working in the Android app for me. I was using the Beta, but have also uninstalled and tried the release version, both behave the same. If I direct stream, it plays, but when I changed the bitrate, it will just stay paused with a black screen. Everything seems fine on the server side (it transcodes the entire video, don't see any issues there) but it will not play. I have tried a few different devices with the same result. Using the chrome browser on those devices or on a PC works as expected. I have attached the logs from the Android client, server, and transcode logs. I replaced the server external IP with {SERVER_EXTERNAL_IP). One thing that was interesting to me was that the Android client seemed to try using the server's external IP even though it is connected via WiFi. I am guessing that is the problem, but don't know why it is doing it. Android_App_Log.log Server_Log.txt Transcode_Log.txt

I'm running Emby 3.2.7 and I'm not able to playback Live TV using Firefox as a client. In the server logs I see that transcoding start correctly but the browser will only display a black screen with no playback controls at all (just a scroll bar on the right that you can use to scroll only to see the same black screen all along). I have a HDHR and a TVH server. In Emby I configured both sources, the HDHR directly and also TVH, for testing. Playback of TV channels using TVH or HDHR will never work but I discovered that playback of radio channels using HDHR directly as the source will work, while using TVH will not. I think everything was working fine with 3.2.4 but I cannot confirm that 100%. I tried Firefox from both, Linux and Windows with the same results. Live TV playback using the iOS app works flawlessly for both sources (TVH and HDHR) so this seems to be a Firefox specific issue. Any ideas? System details: Emby: 3.2.7 Mono: 4.6.2.7 OS: CentOS 7.3 Client details: Firefox 51 and 52 on Linux and Windows.

Some files are are not playing in Emby for Android (Windows server)
andersen posted a topic in Android
Hi, the problem is the same as described here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/44223-some-files-not-playing-in-emby-for-android/ I've updated to the latest ffmpeg, made no difference... These files were played fine a few weeks ago, but since then no android device can play them (except with external player). Server log attached, You can see the error near the end. Thanks! Log.txt -
I've been using Emby for at least 2 yrs and on the whole it's great. But for some time now, I've been noticing an increase in the number of times playback suddenly ends. I'm not positive but I think this may be more related to playing ISO files. Everything is perfectly fine and then all of a sudden the movie ends and it's back to the Roku menu. Yes I'm using the Emby app through Roku. It's a hassle to get back to where video crashed (due to buffer delay) and sometimes it will resume and other times not. But the crash frequency is definitely rising. Any suggestions (and thanks in advance)?

As 3D playback still requires external programs: Would it be possible to use the App to display only one half of the HSBS/HTOB content so that we at least could watch it in 2D, and use external players only if we actually want to watch 3D? Regards

Server = linux debian install Client = Win 10 theater app I can schedule recordings, and I see .ts files created, but playback only results in a cover-art displaying and no sound. Live TV works and can play, pause, rewind and fast forward. Recording shows do not show in the "recorded" category until after they are complete. Once completed, they display in the recorded category, and they can be selected to play - however at that point, only the coverart shows up on the screen and there is no sound.

Hello, I haven't found anything relevant but if something similar has been posted before, I am sorry in advance. I am having a long time now an issue when streaming my music library through the iPhone EMBY app. I haven't mentioned it before as I wasn't using that feature often but lately I like listening to my music too through EMBY. So, the problem is when I stream music through my iPhone EMBY app (playlist, songs in queue, shuffle mode etc.), after a while, always (if not immediately) I have to unlock my phone for the next song to continue playing on the list. This is most inconvenient especially when I am in the car driving and always have to press the iPhone button (sometime that alone only works) or even having to unlock so the next song in the queue can play. Even through the Samsung TV app it hangs from time to time but it’s not as bad as the iPhone app. I know EMBY is mainly for movies, and for that it works extremely well, but it would be handy to be able to use it smoothly for mp3's as well. I would expect it to work on the background but it doesn’t seem to like it when the device locks. Anyone having similar problems? Thanks in advance, George

Hey all and @@ebr... I have a pretty debilitating but difficult to diagnose issue and i'm just curious if anyone has any ideas. I have an Ubuntu 16.04 Dell r710 server running Emby. My TV is stored locally on (snapRaid 5). Movies are stored on a Qnap NAS (cifs share). Sometimes when I go to play a movie the playback is choppy to the point it's unwatchable. I never have this issue with TV Shows. Just movies. Then, if I fully reboot my server playback speeds up and everything is fine. If I go a couple of days and then try to watch a movie again, same thing happens. I realize this could be about a thousand things, but honestly I'm not sure where to begin. I don't think this is an emby issue, but it might be. I thought this might be a good place to start asking. Log.txt

I have recently ripped a Blu-Ray, We're the Millers, to mkv. The videos and trailers are unwatchable due to stuttering. I have tried adjusting the streaming bitrate, to no avail. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm having a problem when playing back video on my Roku 3. For the 1st 10-15 seconds the video will stop at least once (sometimes several times) and display the message "Loading, Please Wait" along with a loading status bar. I'm new to Emby. I tried messing with some settings but nothing seemed to change this. It almost seems like it is not buffering enough somewhere. My network is 300Mbps N. I haven't had this problem using other services but I don't think those services were transcoding to H.264.... I'm not sure though. I am using a new Synology DS916. Emby Version 3.0.8500.0-1. Log

Increase size of playback bar / increase number of increments
Thatgeodude posted a topic in General/Windows
Does anyone have any idea how to increase the size of the playback bar, and/or increase the number of increments (to allow skipping to more portions of the video)? I assume this is done via CSS, but if there's another way that'd be preferable (as I usually import my CSS). Thanks! -
Not sure if this would be hard to implement but it would be great if when one episode of a show finishes it stays in full screen mode when the next episode starts. Just a little thing but would be nice to have in the web browser.

I had posted about a similar issue prior and the thread was merged into another thread that really did not cover the same issue and there was never really a clear solution. I currently run an Emby server via HTTPS for secure WAN connections. Through the android app only I can only fast forward, rewind, and seek on random media playback. Sometimes it will only work for a short while until it decides it does not want to work anymore. When it does not work I can attempt to seek anywhere in the playback and it will not move to that spot but continue playing from where it currently is. If I pause and play it jumps back to its current location. If I pause and attempt to seek and hit play it jumps back to its current location. This happens on most of my media but not all, as some of my media I can seek freely through the playback. This has been a problem on my Nexus 5X, my Nexus 7, and now my Google Pixel. Also chromecast playback outside of my LAN does not work, it just says Emby on the chromecast screen, when the media is selected and said to be playing through the phone or web browser, it is not playing on the chromecast. This same problem occurs 50% of the time inside my LAN connected to the unencrypted connection. All certificates are stock to the Emby server. The problem is limited to the android app. I have not tested the iPhone app with the problem. (Side but far less important question that I am curious about is that I have the server running on a virtual machine with Windows Server 2012 installed with 16 cores dedicated to it. I see the server side settings that allows up to 8 cores selected or maximum, can the emby server take full advantage of the 16 cores I dedicated to the VM?)

The last week or so, I've been unable to play any videos in Emby on my NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV. It actually happened started about a month ago when I was using the beta app. But I didn't have time to report the issue, so I just left the beta to get back on "stable" and the issue was solved. However, now it seems that the beta version I had issues with, has made it into stable, and now I had time to report the issue. When starting a video, I just get black screen with the player UI, and a toast saying "Player error encountered. Will re-try..." (see attached picture). I cannot see anything odd in the remux logs on the server, but I attached one anyway for your expert eyes. I tried to find a log file for the app on my shield, but was not able to find any. Please let me know where to find it if you need it. I can play the videos when playing to an external player like VLC, but it's not really optimal for me. EDIT: I've tried in 1.2.77g (stable), and I found the button to send logs, so I've sent those. I've rejoined the beta program, but the app hasn't updated yet. I'll post my results here once it does. ffmpeg-remux-b2a5a98a-d133-495c-9ed3-ff14bf021fce.txt

I posted about this issues before, but the forum seem to have been deleted. I have been unable to stream Live Tv to any device. I get " No compatible streams....error". I have refreshed the guide, restarted both sever and host computer. Problem started occurring 2 days ago. I use mainly Chrome to aces Emby. When I don't get the error message, it loads the payer box as if it was going to stream the channel or file, but its is just a black screen, sometimes, only the audio will start playing, the controls on the bottom of the player are dashes likes nothing is loaded. It seems local media files that do not require transcoding play fine, but nothing else will. The guide is accurate and recording works fine. I have recorded a few shows and was able to play back the recorded file with VLC just fine. But it will not play in Emby. I attached what logs i could find. Loga.txt Log2.txt

playback location resets to beginning after waking phone up from sleep
serkan5000 posted a topic in Android
Hi, I am using the Emby Android app on a Moto X Pure, stock Android 6. Everything works great but while playing a movie if I pause, my phone will eventually lock the display. Upon unlocking the time at which I had paused resets to 0. If I go back to the information page, i see that the server has also reset the time to 0. Please let me know what other info logs etc I can provide to help debug this. -
I'm trying to play back 10 bit hevc content to a number of devices. I have tried using the web app on my phone and laptop. A raspberry pi 2 with the Kodi app. The same app on my phone and the server where Emby is installed. All content not transcoded plays perfectly well via the addon option in the kodi app or via direct play. I never have any quality issues or buffering problems. Whenever I try and transcode the videos they play for just over a minute and then stop. There is no quality problems or buffering during this time. In task manager on the server ffmpeg starts with playback and then goes to 0% just before the video freezes as if it thinks it has finished. I have tried toggling throttling, quality settings, thread settings and hardware acceleration but all have the same result. I have also tried updating to the beta server but to no avail. Does anyone have any advice? server log.txt ffmpeg log.txt

The last couple days I noticed the Chapter skip behavior which used to skip to the next TV episode, now just skips a percentage of the show you're watching. Is this intentional? If it is can we get full episode skipping tied to the channel buttons or something? The wife is sweating me on this one.

First being the settings area for users. Once you pick say general and start to navigate around you will notice the options changing, for example my english language changed to french by moving down to the next option i wanted to change on that page. The workaround I found for now to set my preferences was to hit the menu button and disable gamepad mode, thus allowing me a cursor to navigate thru these options. Quitting the app and relaunching reengages gamepad mode. Now the big one, the UI doesnt seem to be consuming my entire TV screen even when changing the display mode. Hitting play on media it becomes even more evident as the same size restriction is enforced there as well... i tried to take a horrible screenshot to show you the border size im seeing. What content I attempted to play so far appeared to direct play but didnt get much farther then seeing this huge border around playback and UI. The app reports as logged in as Edge 14.14393 2.0.1 for version number i guess.

Hi, I've noticed that since latest stable I can't play anything in Firefox normally. Subtitles doesn't appear with movie (even if chosen in list), resuming or changing position causes error in A/V sync... Anyone seeing that?

Doesn't the android client keeps some kind of buffer? If I replay the song, it still takes a while, cause it wants to start streaming from the server again; is it not already buffered? Also, if I skip back to beginning, shouldn't it just start playing. It seems it's contacting the server again to get data, something it already played. The track is like 3 minutes long. It doesn't buffer anything at all?

Hi guys. This will be my first post in this forum, as I am "evaluating" Emby (so far so good, very good in deed). I read up on how to post an issue, I hope this will be in line of what is expected. I believe that Emby Server is set up correctly, since I have my library present in Kodi after the addon installation. Many movies have been working just great, however, some don't. It seems that the playback started, but I still see the library in front of me. The playback is actually started in the background, but the movie is not playing. It is just a backdrop of the actual movie, like this: I am running Emby Server 3.0.6000.0 and Emby Addon 2.2.18 Kodi version is OpenELEC 6.0.3 (based on Kodi 15.2 Isengard) Here is a Kodi log file: http://sprunge.us/fbOQ, and Emby log file is provided via an attachment I hope that someone of you are able to pinpoint the problem with ease, anyway, I will be very grateful with any kind of suggestion on how to handle this! Best Regards!! //Henrik EDIT: When testing more movies, I found out that some more movies don't play. But these don't start at all, I receive an error message that says: Playlist Can't find the next item to play That is quite strange, because I have not created a playlist. But this is maybe related to the other issue?! Emby 3.0.6000.0 logfile.txt

Luke, Videos do not play if logging into Web Client, or ET web version (tv.emby.media) via external IP address. This issue just recently popped up since installing v3.0.6000. I only use external IP at work, so I just found this out. Theme songs work fine, but if I press play, or resume... nothing happens. Will send you a log via PM. Hope you can find the issue, watching YouTube sucks!

Playback issues when changing res&bitrate under direct play, no transcoding
jayw654 posted a topic in General/Windows
When playing a movie in some browsers (mainly Chrome) if res/bitrate menu is pulled up and the account is set to absolutely no transcoding the movie will stall or crash if the bitrate/resolution is changed. Initially it will show "Direct Play" but once change "Direct Play option disappears. The next picture will show that "Direct Play" disappears once it has initially changed to anothe Bitrate/Res. Granted sometime depending on browser you are able select a bitrate/res higher then the file and it will go back to "Direct Play" but lots of times it will just crash until transcoding is turn on and changed during playback. Proposed solution: Simply add an option under "Users>Profiles" called "Direct Play Only" which will disable the menu to change bitrate/res and should disable/ grey out the following option under "User/Profile" when enabled: 1. Media Playback > "Allow Audio Playback that Requires Transcoding" and "Allow Video Playback that Requires Transcoding" 2. Sync > Allow Syncing that Requires Transcoding for the log the log that has the issue is 7/12/2016 URL: https://fileserver.jpwservices.net Username: emby Password: 12345- 4 replies

Recently I have had massive issues with emby, all my devices are having issues. Fire tv is the worst. Everything is playing back in extremely low quality, low bitrate and the resolution must be around 240p. Everything else just refuses. Chromecast plays 1 minute properly then gives up, emby theatre for windows just refuses and the html5 player in chrome is the only one that will work. Any ideas.
