Hello everyone, I'm a new emby user since a week or two. But there is a problem that keeps occuring. When a streamed a video to my chromecast it showed subtitles, but this was only the first day. Now when I try to stream the same movie (or other) it doesn't show any subtitles. When I pauze the video on mobile when it shows a subtitle and than stream it, it will show that sentence for a split second and nothing after. Context: - I run my emby server on a synology - I use opensubtitles as automatic source - self added subtitles are having the correct naming (showed at the ? in emby) - I have searched the forum but didn't come across some solution Thanks for helping.

As part of our Tesla Infotainment system, we have a choice of various streaming providers like Spotify Premium. Tesla indicated that more are coming like Amazon Music and Apple Music. Currently it is possible to stream from our emby home server using the Tesla browser however the car must be in park. My feature request is that emby works with Tesla to create a fully integrated solution. A one-time purchase for the emby Tesla streaming solution would be attractive to me.

Merci

When using emby through internet with built-in player, that is ok, but if I use external player it can't stream the video. and I don't know why? (the Chinese in sreenshoot "无法播放位置" means can't play this url.) (ps: the built-in player has many good features, but there are some features i required like [1]fast forward by direct scrabing the screen not press the point in timeline and then drag. [2] multiple speed when i long press the sreen and finished when i remove my finger. both features work on built-in player of bilibili's Android app[Chinese YouTube])

Add configuration option to always transmit HLS without transcoding.
Fabian2101 posted a topic in General/Windows
I want to ask you, if you can please add a configuration option to force my Emby for Windows server to always use HLS streaming. At the moment my only way to force HLS streaming is to enable the "Convert Unsupported Audio" setting in the Android TV client. And I also have to have all the movie and series files with the default audio track with the E-AC3 or DTS codec. This way I force my Emby server to send HLS streams, instead of HTTP. The problem that with this method my Emby server also transcodes the E-AC3 or DTS audio track to AAC. If you add a configuration option in the Emby server to force the server to use HLS streaming, then it doesn't transcode the audio track unnecessarily. HLS transmission in my case solves the problem on my favorite and main television, the problem of constant jumps and jerks in the images. And since the latest version of the client for Android TV has become obsolete due to playback problems with DV and HDR10, and the client for Android 3.2.92 I don't have any option to force the HLS streaming. Thanks, greetings. -
Hi Emby, Are there any plans to support external streaming services via plug-ins coming to Emby. I'm aware that Plex offers these, and I think it would be a boon for us as well. We've got TuneIn for Internet Radio, which is great. But what about Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, YouTube Music or Apple Music? Perhaps one of our more accomplished developers could whip something up. Kind regards, Bill

TVDB Sorting sequence "Streaming" vs. Aired Order, who would help me?
Seger posted a topic in General/Windows
Hello all, I have the following series https://thetvdb.com/series/tangled-the-series as a streaming sort. The problem is that EMBY only offers Aired Order, but now there are a few more episodes under the "Streaming" sort. Can anyone tell me how best to get this displayed and resolved. For example maybe again, I have 23 episodes (streaming) vs 21 episodes (Aired Order) for season 1. For season 2, 24 episodes vs 21 episodes and so on. Many thanks for tips and if necessary the solution. Best regards Seger -
time-based Internet streaming bitrate limit (Mbps)internet band
hooray4me posted a topic in Feature Requests
It would be use to have time-based internet streaming bitrate limits per profile. We've had problems for years with the various ISP's that our family and friends use over-subscribing their networks during prime time. Between the hours of 6-9pm, users have to manually drop their stream rate to 1-2mb to be able to watch anything... (usually AT&T is the culprit). If we could set the time/stream rate from their profile it would be nice. -
I'd like to put in a request for a server-side Equalizer. It would incredible useful if it were applied on a User basis - Ex. I could set up multiple User profiles, point them at their corresponding libraries, and switch between users for the EQ I wanted to apply to the output. I prefer a Parametric EQ if possible. The reason being is, that many people use EQ correct frequency response errors for both Room and Speakers and the precision of a Parametric is essential for proper tuning. I'm aware that this will probably require transcoding on the server in order to apply it. However, that particular task isn't CPU intensive and Emby already does transcoding on occasion anyway. Kind regards, Bill

Hi . Im a emby premium user. Got my keys recently. Thanks to emby good response! I have issues on streaming back on my tab and phones externally. Android application. Tried to connect my tab to my server using 4g, but failed. I wish to stream my movies outside my home network and using 4g to stream my media. My questions is, What are the steps or setup for me to Externally connect to my devices? Could anyone guide me or somehow brief me through the steps? Need some tips and advices! Thanks!

Random question, but is there a way i can play the same movie on all the devices in my house at one time? When I start cleaning or working on projects I bounce from room to room, and it would be nice to be able to have the movie playing on all devices without having to stop the movie, and resume on a different device.

i've been testing emby for playback of 4k/UHD files. when I play and 4k movie, it stops playback and i get a "loading" every couple of minutes. from the server management gui I see the following: The media is compatible with the device regarding resolution and media type (H.264, AC3, etc.), but is in an incompatible file container (.mkv, .avi, .wmv, etc.). The video will be re-packaged on the fly before streaming it to the device. Is MKV really an incompatible container in emby? This would really be bad for me because most of my 4k media is in an MKV format that I can stream directly to the TV with another media server software. any suggestions that don't require conversion to another file container? Thanks

Hey guys. Sorry if this has already been asked before but I have been looking and can not find anything with my current situation. I am finding major problems streaming my films to my friends using the remote connection. I have tested this over two of my friends houses and the same thing is happening for both of them. Emby starts fine and video loads but doesn’t play or if it does play it buffers all the time and very choppy. I have tried playing the video with auto resolution and gone all the way down to 720p and still the same thing I have also tried different types of file containers mp4. And mkv and also films in 4K format all the way down to sd 480p formats and still the same thing. I know it’s not a internet problem on my end not there’s as this is happening with everyone I share my account with. I pay for a monthly subscription so I have hardware acceleration enabled and running of a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. all streams are playing in direct streaming/direct playing unless quality resolution settings have been forced lower. I have also noticed that when a video is transcoding the video playing on the other end will not play even though it has already been transcoded. I am currently out at the moment but I will attach system logs when I am back but any advice now would be brilliant

hey Guys, Would it be possible to set a max limit on the bitrate for streaming music as normally most music files are max of 320kbps i have mine at the studio max of 1715kbps on each music file. i know you have a limiter for streaming on video but would it be possible to have a separate one for music streaming also, so when your playing your music in the car you dont have to worry about it freezing every few seconds. could be something like music streaming limiter - remote access remote access limit for streaming 96kbps 128kbps 196kbps 256kbps 320kbps Custom setting _________

Hi all, Let me start off by saying I am glad to be done with Plex and Emby feels MUCH more consistent if not a little quirky so I bought a lifetime preimer pass, love it. So I'm stoked to be using emby. I started using emby in a VM but noticed my disk ops were bottle-necking emby so I installed Emby on a dedicated machine with the following specs: Intel Core i7-4770K 16GB DDR3 Ram Drives: OS Drive 128GB SSD, DVR Drive 1TB 7200RPM HDD, Media Drive 3TB 7200RPM NAS HDD Operating System: Window 10 Pro Build 1909 Patched all the way up HD Home Run PRIME TV Tuner while up front everything will be on 1 3TB disk I will be going out later today to buy 2 more 3TB Disks so that each library can live on their own disk. My Questions concerns are these: Why is there a considerable lag when loading titles? It takes about 12 seconds for a movie to start playing after I choose play.Full disclosure I'm still copying over media to this server but I don't think that should be an issue. There are gaps in guide. I can see all the channels my HD Home Run is reporting but some channels have no guide info but will stream. I have read on the sub that putting in a 10-series GPU helps? Can anyone explain this or let me know where I can go to read more about this / enable? The android app doesnt seem to be working great. It always gives me the option to sign into connect even though I'm pretty sure I've already done that, It's laggy and I'm not sure if that's my server or the app, other issues I'm not able to articulate quite yet. does the community have any thoughts on my setup and how I can solve the 4 issues above? Thanks!

Have the Emby team considered adding in TVE (TV Everywhere) support? This is a feature where using a online streaming provider(Philo, Sling, YT TV, Hulu etc) or CATV provider login allows access to those network Live TV streams. (they connect and load the streams from the network sites, not the service provider). I have been using Channels DVR and they have this feature in Beta and it works well. Using my familys Xfinity Login, i can connect many channels to the server, watch, record them just as if they were coming from my local HDHDR tuner. They also support unlimited streams since they are web streams. I am soon to drop my CATV package to the minimum basic, (and probably cancel it once 1yr contract left is up) and only use my family share stream account they setup to watch the channels that support TVE, which is most of the ones i want. If the Emby team could look into adding in TVE as a Live TV source, that would really make Emby a good All in One media server solution.

FFMPEG Transcoding of m3u8 fails. No streams available
surprisejedi posted a topic in General/Windows
I have a .m3u8 file that looks something like this: #EXTM3U #EXT-X-VERSION:3 #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:BANDWIDTH=614000,AVERAGE-BANDWIDTH=564000,RESOLUTION=480x270,CODECS="avc1.77.30,mp4a.40.2" https://example.com/270/prog_index.m3u8 #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:BANDWIDTH=1118000,AVERAGE-BANDWIDTH=1028000,RESOLUTION=640x360,CODECS="avc1.77.30,mp4a.40.2" https://example.com/360/prog_index.m3u8 This is a valid streaming file and the servers are responding. Hi All, Would it be possible to add Sonos streaming to the Android app? In my head it would work in the same way as the Chromecast streaming currently works. I've been looking at some public APIs for Sonos https://github.com/SoCo/SoCoand it seems you make a UPNP connection to the device and can then send the track to be played as a URL. This would allow people to play their music at any location that had a Sonos device, regardless of if the server was on the same network. Regards, Llygoden

Theater/Win app/Web Playback - Which is best quality?
speedingcheetah posted a topic in Windows & Xbox
I am wondering what is best for raw quality of the video streams, local files and live tv playback, among the available options to use Emby on PC. Theater (standalone software) uses MPV Theater (Win 10 Store app) uses WMP Web browser (Edge, FireFox, Chrome, Opera) uses http streaming? A long time ago, i was using the stand alone Theater software as it had Madvr, but that was discontinued I would think that a dedicated software app would be "better" than web streaming in browser. In my basic quick "tests", I have noticed that the Win 10 app UI seems to be a tad faster and smoother, but it sometimes has issues playing some file formats at times. It also will obey my Nvidia GPU settings, such as the Edge Enhancement (sharpening) and other color settings i can toggle in the Nvidia Control panel. The standalone MPV based Theater software, has some settings for Hardware Acceleration, and it playback seems smoother than W10 Store app, but, it doe snot obey Nvidia GPU settings, no matter what settings I set for HWacc etc. (i think i need to use DXVA for it to do that?) Web browser streams....i do not know much about how that works, just that it sees to vary with each browser. Some will force transcode, others will do direct. Edge seems to be the "best" for overall media playback compatibility, but that browser I find to be unstable in general. Playback in the other browser....all look the same to me. (For Live TV, i tend to use the stock HDHomeRun app, as the video seems to have a tad better clarity as it is a direct stream from the hardware tuner. I am not sure what player that app uses though...don't think it is MPV. If i had to guess, WMP. It is also much easier/faster to browse and switch channels via its guide sidebar during live playback to view what is on other channels, something Emby does not have.) Anyone want to comment on their experiences or preferences on how they use Emby on PC.- 50 replies

I purchased Emby app for my Fire TV 2nd generation already. From yesterday, I only saw a green screen when I streamed x265 contents from my video server. I have done cleaning the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but they did not work. However, the same videos can be streamed no problem with the Emby app for WebOS on my LG TV. Would anyone know how to fix it?

I was wondering if anyone could me with an issue I've been having for a little while. I seem to have issues with video streams freezing on playback. The client is still completely responsive but the only way to resume the video is to back out of it and resume. The server I'm using shouldn't have any issues with transcoding either because it's an eight core Xeon processor with hyper-threading. Any ideas? embyserver-63662889600.txt embyserver-63663045698.txt
