  1. Hi. New version of Emby Server problem in user registration. Everything works fine, except when trying to edit the user profile. It leads to the login screen and does not allow the administrator to change anything in the profile.

  3. Running QNAP Version 3.0.6070.0. In episode view randomly some actors have the default actor image (when there is no image available). If I then click on that actor and go to the actor bio screen, it loads up the actor image and bio (if it exists). If I then press the back button in chrome to return to the episode screen, the actor image appears This may be happening in movie view as well, but have not tested

No open option for 'My Media'

I am running QNAP version 3.0.6070.0, but do not not if this is an issue with the QNAP version of the server software in general. In the dashboard, under my media, in previous versions I was able to click the 3 dots and select open, but this option is now missing. Clicking the icon does nothing. This is happening under all icons, not just tv (as shown in the pic)

    Library sync, not completed

Hi! I have a problem where I have all my network path added to emby server. The schedule task runs without any error, but into my music folder, there is missing albums. I have one folder at least I found so far. Can't find why. Any tip? Thanks!
  6. Hello Again. When trying to use the BIND TO IP feature I'm having trouble connecting to it via external networks. - Internal connections seem fine. - If I disable the bind, both internal ad external work fine. The message that appears in browser is only: "Bad Request (Invalid host)" Nothing shows up in logs.. even with debugging mode ON. Funny fact: My laptop (used only as client) has in it's HOST files an entry telling my local emby server IP when looking for the external address. I do that to avoid NAT loopback here at home. "What's so fun?" - When I use the local IP in browser and https port... it lets me connect (with just a ssl warning). If I write the external domin name (that should do the same result), it throws me that error, too. It's almost as if when Emby has IP BIND, it won't like being connected via domain name UPDATE: Using http port with domain name also throws that error. Really not related to HTTP/HTTPS, but instead connecting via domain name.
  7. I did some access to test Emby security and worked OK, as connections should precede a access token given in authentication. That below was made without that token. The problem is: I believe Errors Reports in log should be restricted to software errors... not access denied and such. So Emby should treat exceptions like that one (and related) with more elegance, not with a error full report. 2016-08-17 08:51:12.3663 Info HttpServer: HTTP GET https://server.domain.com:8920/emby/System/Info. Problems with manual organize.

Hello I'm running server build Version 3.0.6060.0. I am not sure why but when a file fails to to auto organize I can't seem to do it manually like in the past. I push the the folder button, and nothing happens. I thought I might have the beta version so I uninstalled the server and re-downloaded the stable release from the website. No luck. Any ideas? Thanks guys.
  10. All my libraries had disappeared after this Version 3.1.99.0 update. I hadn't used it for a while, i started emby server, it auto-updated, i restarted it and now there's nothing. None of the libraries are listed in the dashboard. But the library titles are listed on the 'Home' left-hand slide-in menu when you click the 'Home' burger button.

    server crashes during sync

As the topic says, when I sync music, emby server crashes. Log File attached. emby-crash.log
  12. When we configure sync, it could be nice to have something estimating how much diskspace the first sync will require (and with "Item Limit" and "Media Quality" in mind, too). This way... we can be prepared and see if a sync will be possible or not. My case: I'm preparing a playlist , and a want to sync it to my mobile device... but I don't know if it will have the needed diskspace... The only way I can do this today is going inside my media server storage (via SSH, FTP or SMB), and see how much those items (handpicking each one) will cost my device's disk.
  13. Looking at server today I see one bad thing.... the people pictures takes TOO MUCH diskspace. Thinking about this, I suggest some new features: - Ability to fix a max width/height of any people image (and make ffmpeg reduce it proportionally, if needed) - Ability to fix a max Kb size of any people image (and make ffmpeg reduce it proportionally, if needed) - Ability to fix a max Nº of people for each item... most of times people don't want to know the photo of the truck driver that appeared at 1h03m07s in the movie... usually we only see the 10 first... something like this. For what I can see... lots of images are bigger than 80 or 100Kb, which I guess is already too much for a simple small face in the screen.
  14. I wasn't sure if I should start a new topic for this, as I experiencing pretty much the same issues that Swynol and Daedalus experienced HERE: I originally posted this on that thread simply because it seemed directly related, but between worrying over whether that constituted thread-jacking, and the topic now having been marked 'Answered', I thought it might be better to start fresh (I will edit my post there to reflect this). I'm running Emby Server Beta on Windows 8.1. The main symptom is that all my supporter plugins are showing as "Trial expired", and when I go to their pages in the catalog, I just get a never-ending 'Loading' Circle. Emby Connect also seems wonky, as I can't link local users with their online Emby accounts; Users already linked can still use Connect to access the server over cellular (My only other internet connection), although when I try to log in through Connect in Chrome on the machine itself, my credentials aren't recognized. The logs show errors on every attempt to connect to verify plugin authorization, to the Emby Connect service and so on, in each case the log states "The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.". It seems to be throwing A LOT of these errors, too, as I've had several 100MB+ logs over the past few days (The attached log from a fresh boot yesterday afternoon has since grown to 50MB overnight). The odd thing is that, despite the connection issues for plugin and Connect authorization, Emby Server updated both itself and the plugins just fine, and, as mentioned, I can use Connect to access the server from my cell on 4G. The "Thank you for supporting Emby" badge shows up properly on the Dashboard too (Not sure if that's relevant, but the last time I had a connection problem it disappeared). This is all happening as I finally have my server (the machine, that is) up and running again, after the motherboard and processor died a couple months ago, forcing me to use my laptop as a temporary server. I know from the fact that I didn't have these issues on the laptop that the cause should be located within the server, I've temporarily disabled my firewall entirely and placed the server in my router's DMZ just to eliminate that part of the equation, and I am fairly certain the issue isn't with my Emby configuration, as I've performed a series of fresh installs (both Release and Beta), and the issue was still present, but all I've discovered so far is what's NOT causing the problem, leaving me with no more of a clue as to what actually IS :-/ If anyone could help shed light on this, I would be seriously grateful, as while I do have a certain small amount of pride in my technical skills, I'm also pretty sure that I've come about as far as those skills will take me. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope. server-63605748225.txt
  15. For some weird reason, almost every time I try to stream something recently from any app (android, PC), it is crashing the PC running the server. Anyone else having this issue? Any help would be appreciated...
  16. Devs, is it possible to make Emby support folders where it doesn't have write access? As of today... My emby's got VERY slow (probably exploding with errors inside logs) when I tried that. I needed it once and I can point some utilities for it: 1. Beta/Dev Emby test installations pointing to official libraries without risks of breaking or updating anything done in stable 2. Reading of folders that are ultra-critic aren't worth the risk of tampering with metadata or images generation/download (ex: family, personal...) 3. Creation of immutable libraries where metadata, pics and subtitles will never be updated, guaranteed by filesystem #1 reason above was what I needed for.

    Server 3.0.6000 - Slowness?

Anyone that installed latest stable 3.0.6000 noticed slowness using Interface? It's hard to use because at every screen change I get a "loading" of 3-5 seconds Anyone or is it just me?
  18. When browsing all movies, all "view" options in "Select View" work except "List." Attempting to view the movies in a list results first in a return to the "Suggestions" landing for the Movies folder, and then if attempted again quickly, in a webpage error ("This page is having a problem loading"). All other view types (Banner, Poster, Thumb, etc.) work perfectly.
  19. Hello everybody! Since a long time ago I wanted to share my server setup in this awesome forum, sorry for my english in advance . In my university residence some years ago everybody was constantly asking for external HDD's to share movies and tv shows, so one day I wondered what could I do to make this sharing simpler. After using Plex for several years I switched to Emby cause Plex added a 100 users limit share and we were +-120 users. I rented a SoYouStart Opteron Server with 6Tb of storage in order to make Emby accesible outside the residence's LAN. Everything was perfect but we were (all the users) paying 45€ a month for the server, in addition I hadn't control of the hardware and if I wanted to change something or add more disk space was impossible. So with the installation of 300/300 fiber in my house, I decided to setup a home server and migrate all the stuff from the cloud server to my home server. That way we'll only have to pay for the electricity and the initial hardware cost. So, went to amazon and started looking for a nice budget setup for my server, the key of the purchase was the energy saving. The home server specs are the following: - Intel i5-6600 Processor - Asus B150M-A Motherboard - 2x4Tb HGST Desktar NAS HDD's (installed in Software RAID 0), for storing the media files - Kingston SSDNow V300 120Gb for the OS and Emby metadata, etc. - 16 Gb DDR4 HyperX Fury Kingston RAM - Corsair Series CX430 PSU The system is running under Ubuntu 16.04 after trying to do it under Debian 8.5, but the system due to the recent processor and the Linux Kernel in Debian 8.5 (I suppose) wasn't very stable with Emby. In order to do the migration transparently for the users I downloaded all my library (1300 SD Movies, 500 1080p 5Mbps Movies and 130 SD TV Shows) from the cloud server to my 8Tb /home partition in RAID 0, after this I installed and configured Emby and letting it scan the library and download all the metadata (notice that I didn't back up the library from the cloud server, just the users and their play status). With this completed, I configured my TP-Link wr1043nd router with OpenWRT installed to forward the necessary ports to the server, and setted up a dynamic DNS with NOIP as my ISP IP is dynamic. Everything almost ready, users backed up in the cloud server and restored in the home server I switch my Domain to point to my home ddns instead of the cloud server and watch the users loging in. Everything was fine and nobody noticed the change (correction, somebody had dns issues but after erasing history and cookies in their browser the problem was solved). The average number of users connected at the same time is 5-10, with 20-30 in peak hours (siesta time 3-4pm, after dinner 11pm, before luch 1-2pm, you know spanish regime ), almost everybody uses the server through the Web interface (some tablets or chromecast but it's 5-10% of the users) so what I do to deal with transcoding, or better said, how do I do to AVOID transcoding without losing quality. It's very simple, the solution was to convert all the media to h264/AAC/mp4 with a daily script which executes ffmpeg at 2am, looks for .avi or .mkv files and converts them to h264/AAC/mp4. The script is veeeery veeery simple (i'm not a scripting or programming boss) and this is the conversions it does: (quality/video_codec/audio_codec/file_extension) Input --> Process --> Output ------------------------------------ - Movies and episodes in sd/mpeg/mp3-AC3/avi: sd/mpeg/mp3/avi --> x264 CRF 20, audio_bitrate aac 128kbps, web_optimized --> sd/h264/aac/mp4 -Movies in sd/h264/DTS-AC3/mkv sd/h264/DTS-AC3/mkv --> video stream copy, audio_bitrate aac 128kbps, web_optimized --> sd/h264/aac/mp4 -Movies in hd/h264/DTS-AC3/mkv with video bitrate around 5mbps hd/h264/DTS-AC3/mkv --> video stream copy, audio_bitrate aac 192kbps, web_optimized --> hd/h264/aac/mp4 For movies with bitrate over 5mbps I use another script to do a 2-pass conversion cause it takes time for each file. In addition the scripts removes all subtitles and conserves only one audio track in spanish. The question now is, why I do this? Well mainly because all my users don't care about DTS, surround or having a 20mbps full hd bluray. The only thing they want is that the movie plays well, fast, and good quality if possible, so this is a way of optimizing resources and disk space. The SSD gives an amazing speed charging the menus and all the web frontend I really recommend it, the server is now running perfectly and growing little by little. Oh! important, I have one directory for SD movies and another for HD movies, and for TV shows the structure is like this --> /home/shows/show_name/season/episodexx.avi Hope you like it! and if you have questions I'll be pleased to answer them. (converting script attached and modified for understanding, the script is named wololo , if you played Age of Empires you should know why ). wololo.txt

    Question about my library setup

Hi I am just started to notice that my web client is showing everyhting as offline, I can select items and there is metadata but cannot play anything. The server is running and I can access my media on my local network through Emby Theatre. I have been having trouble with the server on start up and there has been absolutley no fanart showing. I can however play media. I have attached the screen shot of the web client and also the log I found for server startup. There seem to bbe multiple problems so not exactly which section this should be posted in. The whole system is completely unusable, this is all just 10 days after I dropped win 8 and Emby and changed to win 10 and Emby Theatre. Please help Nickserver-63603653753.txt
  21. Hey all. So I've been having this issue for quite a while now and it's happening over multiple apps. The server doesn't remember watched episodes. This happens on the web, Roku and Emby for Kodi. I've researched this and tried multiple fixes I've found in the forums to no avail. Their are 2 users accessing the account. The NFO is set to my name in the metadata settings and the NFO is checked under the services tab for Series, Seasons and Episodes. I will go through and mark episodes as watched (I've done this on every platform to see if one would work and none did), then after watching an episode and going back to the main screen random episodes will come back as unwatched, sometimes the entire season shows back up. Here's the logs from 07/06, any and all help is appreciated! https://paste2.org/GU8x1M2Z
  22. Hi there, I recently bought a Synology DS416play. Plex works well but I wanted to explore all my options, and so I am trying to install Emby too. Following the instructions on the forums I've installed Mono and Mediainfo with no issues. I've also unpacked Imagemagick to the @appstore directory with no issues, however not sure if there's more to do there. I start running into issues installing ffmpeg & emby from cytec. When doing a manual install for either spk files it gives the error "This package is not supported on the platform of DiskStation." (see attached screenshot) running 'uname -a' returns "x86_64 GNU/Linux synology_braswell_416play" so I'm using the x64 spk files for ffmpeg and emby. I've tried all the other ones and no success either, though. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
  23. I am not sure how to recreate the issue, but for a couple months now my emby-server has just crashed maybe once or twice a day, and I need to restart the service. I kept hoping the next update would resolve it, but it hasn't happened yet... I'm running v3.0.5972 on Arch Linux 64 bit, with an Intel i7 processor and 32GB of RAM. [root@potatofarm]# mono --version Mono JIT compiler version 4.2.2 (Stable 4.2.2.30/996df3c Sun Jan 31 11:58:08 UTC 2016) Copyright (C) 2002-2014 Novell, Inc, Xamarin Inc and Contributors. www.mono-project.com TLS: __thread SIGSEGV: altstack Notifications: epoll Architecture: amd64 Disabled: none Misc: softdebug LLVM: supported, not enabled. GC: sgen When emby is performing normally, I connect to it regularly with my android device and my Kodi device running the Emby plugin for library sync (the server is also running the relevant library sync helper). I don't see anything in the logs that indicates it's related to the library sync helper, but I can't really make heads or tails of these logs anyway. I've disabled all DLNA features of the server because I don't use it, and I saw other people with mysterious crashing issues that were resolved by avoiding DLNA. This doesn't seem to have helped anything. I have lots and lots and lots of small log files which appear to indicate unhandled exceptions, which i'm including the most recent ones of here, along with the last couple of server log files. This is difficult for me to pin down the exact log entries and times specifically because it seems to happen when we're not paying attention to it... we just go over to Kodi and it can't connect, or it already has a warning that the sync thread has failed (presumably because it can't connect). Please let me know if there are any other datapoints i should try to hit. emby_logs.tar.gz
  24. As seen in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP/2 and lot of other IT sites.... it is known that HTTP/2 is coming as upgrade to HTTP/1.1 and has tons of benefits over the 1999's deprecated 1.1 version. Some sites already implement it (Akamai, Cloudfare...) and benefits on speed are remarkable. Probably is too soon to implement it on Emby... but I'd like to suggest it to be something to be studied, because soon we will be hearing more about it.
  25. Hi all! First of all, let me just say, I love Emby. As soon as I switched from Plex, I fell in love. Not just with the Kodi integration, but everything about the server and controls seem better for me. Seriously, awesome work to the devs and everyone involved. I went premium as soon as I could and recently just changed from a monthly to a yearly subscription. Which is why this next part is so hard... when I read the news about Plex getting a server app for Nvidia Shield TV, I was excited and disappointed. Excited because this could mean I can finally turn off my PC and only wake it for things like games. But I was disappointed that the news said Plex and not Emby. I really don't want to move back to Plex. I'm definitely going to give it some time to see how the server even works out. And regardless, I've still got 10-11 months on my year at Emby left. So it got me wondering if something like this is in the works, on the radar, or even possible with Emby. I don't know how closely Plex had to work with Nvidia to get this to work and I don't know if there is any kind of exclusivity deal with them. I mean, after all, Plex comes preloaded on the Shield TV. So I just thought I'd start a discussion to see if this is possible or planned, if anyone is interested/cares, or basically any of your feelings on this matter. Also, I apologize if this isn't the best place to post this. It's meant to be a discussion and not really a request for help or support. Also, I tried searching and didn't find anyone mention anything like this (but my search skills are often under par). Anyway... discuss?
