The .reg registry files work exactly as if you were to manually change the 'Default Beep' via the Windows control panel; but obviously much faster! Hello all, I just created an Emby account last night and synced all my movies to it. The problem I am having is that I cannot connect to the server from my phone or my desktop. I created the server on my laptop. I have looked through the forums for people who have encountered this problem before but I was not successful. I tried to create a port forwarding for the 8096 port on my netgear router but I still am unsuccessful on connecting to the server. I can connect and watch the movies I uploaded on the server from my laptop but on any other device, it wont let me connect. I even created a guest account and signed on to that on my laptop. I was able to watch a movie using that but when I log onto my desktop or phone, it will show the server but will not connect. It gives me the Connection Failure message. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Than you

Hi guys, I have come across an anomaly where remote streaming from my nas to a windows 10 laptop is way slower than to my android tablet. Using server 8400.1 on my synology nas (intel pentium g3258, 8 gb ram, 16 tb), the same mkv is direct playing to both, but the upload speeds for the android tablet (TF700T with Emby vers. 2.8.15) are up to 1.1 Mbps, whilst the windows 10 laptop (i5, 8 gb ram) seems to max out at 300 Kbps. I tried with both the web client and Emby theater and same speed limit seems to be in play. This is weird for me as I have just connected to the nbn and was thinking about ditching the laptop for the tablet whilst away on work and remote streaming everything from my nas. But the laptop has intel 7260 adapter (wifi ac) whislt the TF700T has only wifi n at 65 Mbps. I'm new to Emby and trying to get a optimal setup sorted. I have the following: Emby Server running on Windows Server 2012 running on a new Quad Core low end (new) Xeon Processor, 4GB Ram. Storage is traditional spinning rust. Media is all stored on another Server 2012 OS, running on the same hardware (they are two VMs in the same box) Clients include the web app, the Android app, Windows Theatre and the WMC Client (which I hope to replace with the Win 7 Theatre or even the Win 10 UWP App) I initially tried Emby on CentOS and although everything worked as expected I experienced occasional slowdowns where the server would just stop responding for a minute or two. On Windows it's a lot better however sometimes when loading the libraries from a client it will just hang and not display any media. Flicking between libraries usually resolves the issue if it doesn't load itself after 20 seconds or so. I have experienced this on all clients. My guess is that the storage is just not performing well enough and taking too long to load files, causing a slow down. What I'm going to try next is to do one of the following: Move the Emby server onto an SSD, this should speed up the server itself. Move the media into the Emby server and make it a combined Emby and Media server. This in itself shouldn't really make much difference except from moving the media a little closer to the server. My gut is to move the Emby server itself onto an SSD first and see what it does to the performance. Does anyone with more knowledge and experience of Emby have any suggestions for what I should check or anything else that I can try to improve performance? Cheers, Chris

Hi Evaluating Emby and liking what i see. I have a few questions about Photo Libraries I am using version 3.0.6060.0 for windows (on win 10 pro x64) 1) Are photo libraries quite a new feature as there appears to be little or no WIKI/How To entries on them? Have searched the forum but not much info either. 2) When you enter a library and say select/open a photo after a few seconds (5?) the next photo will show - BUT - it is not the next photo by the sort order say file name - it appears random or its using some other order - is this a bug or is there somewhere you can control this? 3) If you have a photo library of just a single folder with no sub folders the "menu" options of select view/sort/filter do not appear - bug or by design? If a folder has a sub directory and you enter the options are available 4) There appears to be no way to resize the slideshow photos to scale to the screen size? 5) Some exif tags appears to be imported is there a list of what tags emby looks for? I have tried on Android (Fire HD6) and windows via chrome and the behaviour is the same Any pointers would be good Thanks

After the most recent updates, I have run into an issue with Emby Server 3.1.6007.33439. Emby Server seems to be binding to the wrong NIC - binding itself to the VMWare VMNet #1 Virtual Network Adapter (a VMWare Host-only Network) rather than to the physical NIC - ASUS PCI-E AC68 WiFi Adapter. This has rendered Emby Server inaccessible to anything on the local network (since VMNet #1 is a Host-only adapter). Disabling the VMWare Adapters forces it to use the WiFi Adapter but this has to be done every single time Emby Server is started. Is there a way to override which adapter is used while this is investigated? The OS is Windows 10 Pro (Insider Preview - Fast Ring but it did it on the Anniversary Release as well which stayed installed up to today) and it's only Emby Server which is binding to the VMWare adapters rather than a physical NIC. Other applications operating on the localhost are binding to the correct network adapter (the ASUS WiFi).

When i Try to play a movie ex: ( Fury ) it plays another movie like Terminator And When Tried to Add A new Library it tells me : There was an error adding the media path. Please ensure the path is valid and the Emby Server process has access to that location. And It adds It Anyway But still The problem presist help please

Experimenting with the photo slideshow option and it behaves a little unexpectedly open a photo wait 5 seconds and a new photo appears as you would expect however the second photo is not the next one you want as its a random photo from within the photo library The library folder is sorted by name so the next photo to display should be the next one via that sort order? Have tried this with multiple different folders and even changing the content type to unset gives the same behaviour. This is on version 3.0.6060.0 - win10 pro 64bit Is this just me or do others see this?

All my libraries had disappeared after this Version 3.1.99.0 update. I hadn't used it for a while, i started emby server, it auto-updated, i restarted it and now there's nothing. None of the libraries are listed in the dashboard. But the library titles are listed on the 'Home' left-hand slide-in menu when you click the 'Home' burger button.

I update my Emby Server to version 3.0.5985.0 recently and my CPU usage while browsing with Edge has more than doubled. Windows 10 x64 10586.494 Phenom x6 @ 4,1 GHZ 16 GB RAM Furthermore, FYI, I use PhenomMsrTweaker. Under average conditions my PC doesn’t use more power then 170 W, now when browsing Emby it jumps to ~260 W. Also, I keep a close eye on Process Explorer. UPDATE: I seem to have the same issue on my ThinkPad T530 (i5 3230). However it occurred during streaming. Previously I used Emby Server with Emby Theather (old version) on my Server. The high CPU usages occurred while clicking trough serie episodes, about 1 episode every 3s. The high CPU usage on my laptop was gone when I closed Edge. After that Emby Server (the server webpage) streamed 720p/4 MBps without any hiccups or glitches. This might indicate that it has something to do with the Windows 10 x.420 update to x.494? Is anybody here on the Windows 10 'fast ring'? If so what is your experience with Edge while comparing the different builds? UPDATE 2: I had an recurring streaming issue. Attempted to uploud the server log however it's 61 MB. I have noticed at random times that I am unable to search or anything through Emby Server web client (mainly using Chrome Version 51.0.2704.84 m but also happens using FireFox). Sometimes it will work fine but others it just does nothing (as in the screenshot). Is there a fix for this or any plans to tweak the search function in the future? After a very long period where I could not use Emby Server on Windows 10 Pro because the server was not registering with the http server as authorized with the OS (see http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/29931-emby-refusing-connections/ for all about that) I decided to give Emby Server on Windows another try primarily because the server needed direct access to my GPU which VMWare Workstation doesn't provide (although vSphere does) so I can stream out H.265 content to an rPi3 running OSMC. Works wonderfully by the way but I did encounter an issue with Emby Server which can easily be rectified. Emby Server, once I reinstalled the latest development build, threw an unhandled exception error so I browsed over to Emby Server's logs and saw that this is the fourth program I encountered which doesn't comply with FIPS validated cryptography and that's a problem in Windows 10 - especially if you have Trusted Platform computing enabled because you need it for one reason or another. However, the fix is easy: In MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe.config the following line needs to be added before the closing of the <runtime> tags: <enforceFIPSPolicy enabled="false"/> This disables the FIPS validation check for this program and allows it to run under Windows 10 on a system using a Trusted Platform Module enforcing FIPS cryptography. You may of course find the article on MSDN. On system not using a TPM, this change makes no difference to how the application is run. The last several weeks I have been experiencing server crashes with the error below. I am using pathsubstitution and have real time monitoring set to Auto. I was looking for a low-cost solution for something that would just run 24/7 with low power consumption and ran into the NEXBOX T10. I don't need any transcoding (i think) as most my devices play media through KODI. Thoughts on the hardware? $87 seems preetty decent for a bare bones box with included hdd and windowsOS. About my current setup: Library is on a NAS, livingroom's got a on-24/7-macMini running KODI; bedroom uses FireTV4K with KODI; main PC runs emby server. Started emby on the PC but thought the macMini would be better since it's lower power consumption so I migraged over low and behold OSX has been a pain in the butt, the latest OSX doesn't refresh network directories without unmounting and remounting anymore so when I add new media to the NAS, emby sees it but OSX does not which results in KODI showing the episode but when played it's "missing" pain in the butt I tell you! I've now since migrated the server back to my main PC and everything seems be fine but I'm still looking for a low-power, low-cost, always-running solution. Related question: when I'm streaming my library through the emby app (either on my android phone, my ipad, what have you) does it transcode?

Would like to try out MediaBrowser server and compare to Plex Media Server, My requirement is that it should run in a non-admin user account,. On Plex I use an admin Account to install but run the service in a non-admin account I have not been able to see how i can make that distinction between install and run for MediaBrowser. From what I have read it appears the service needs to run in an admin account. I did search the forum and read a number of topics and have not been able to find one that showed I could achieve what I want to do Thanks

I have a QNAP TS-451+ being delivered today, and it has 'Virtualization Station' which allows installation of other OS's. I want to install windows, due to some software I want to run on the QNAP, and was wondering which I should install - windows 10 or windows server 2012 (and which edition), or does it not really make any difference Thanks for your help

Emby Theater wasn't behaving.., it does that sometimes. Reinstall usually fixes this however, TADA.. different version and no external player option.. So far!

Hi Guys, How can I remove the upcoming TV folders from each of my folders on my server? I have looked in the settings but can't see anything to uncheck.

I recently reviewed the missing episode report and noticed one of the episodes I ripped quite a while ago is showing "missing." I verified that the episode is still in the folder and plays fine. I also attempted to run the "refresh" option in the season folder and "scan media library" scheduled task on the server, but neither resolve the problem. Is it possible to force a full rescan of a series or season? Server Version: Version 3.0.5572.0 OS: Windows 8.1 If it matters: the media is stored locally on the server, and I use UNC paths for it. I have no idea when this problem first presented, so I included the most recent log which should include when I scanned the library. I am migrating my server from 1 computer to another. I installed the Server Configuration Backup plugin and made a backup that included everything, including user data. When I restored from the backup, I see the backup did contain this info and the checkboxes were selected when I restored from the backup. But when I view my collections, both from the web interface, and from the android app, the play state was not synched. Did I do something incorrect, or is there another step somewhere?

Is it me or did I miss something. With the newest stable release version 3.0.5781.0 I don't have a security tab anymore. Is this correct?
