    Server not starting

Hi I have been using Emby for a while but yesterday the server refused to start. I uninstalled then reinstalled Emby server. However I am still experiencing the same issue. The web dashboard comes up with the following error : Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:8096. Log File shows errors in the server application. Any help/comments would be appreciated! 2015-09-16 21:01:26.7519 Info - Main: Emby Command line: C:\Users\RAKESH\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe Operating Emby on QNAP TS-131

Hello, I am new to NAS devices and just setup a QNAP TS-131 at home. I would like to install Emby in order to use the device with my Roku box. From the Emby download instructions, I need to first install Mono 3.1 or 4.0. This is not available as an add-on through the interface of the device. Moreover, the only version of Mono I see ready for use from QNAP is version 2.1 and compiled for x86. My device has an ARM processor. I would appreciate any pointers as to how to proceed. Thank you. -david
  3. hi all, in emby as admin user i can add directories to my server to shared via emby, e.g. Folder-Picture /home/user/Pictures/ and every user can access this folder if I set the user to have access to it in emby of course, however let's say in pictures i have 2 subfolders: /home/user/Pictures/Family /home/user/Pictures/Friends so let's say I added another user to emby called "family" now I want "family" to have access to /home/user/Pictures/Family but not to /home/user/Pictures/Friends so i thought let's add /home/user/Pictures/Friends as another share in emby and restrict the access of user "family" to it. However when you do it this way you get the message that there is a duplicate folder and the share /home/user/Pictures/Friends remains empty for any user. The only way to still have this work is to remove the folder /home/user/Pictures/ from the shares and add each sub-directory as a share in emby and then i could restrict its any subfolder accordingly. This is very cumbersome if you have a lot of subdirectories, so why not make it possible to add subdirectories in the emby shares as well?
  4. I am having a minor issue with EMBY Server displaying episodes yet to be aired in the 'Upcoming' tab. If i am using the android app it shows all unaired episodes perfect but when using server from any browser, it only shows one show (Ballers). Just wondering how to get all episodes showing. Not sure if a log file is needed as it isn't a particular date. EMBY SERVER version 3.0.5675.1 EMBY FOR ANDROID version 2.3.53
  5. It's quite useful to be able to quickly add/remove items as Favorites with the context menu while in the Emby app (via WMC or elsewhere). I use this to keep, for example, a handy list of TV shows I'm currently watching, so that I can go to that selection rather than wading through all the shows I have. My son uses a list of Favorites in his movies. In many cases, like the TV shows example, it would be nice to have a per-user checkbox configuration option in the Emby server's User settings to toggle the Favorites view option to be enabled when the user logs in. Currently, it's disabled by default and the user must navigate to the Favorites option on the settings bar (MBC on WMC) which, while not a lot of extra work, gets wearisome when it's pretty much my default first action for any given view. I'm aware there might be sort order issues as per the comment in http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/21749-favorites-on-ehs-chocolate/ but perhaps the setting could be implemented in such a way as to toggle the Favorites view after the user has entered the category view, when the option is checked in User config? Thanks for taking the time to read through this! I've been a supporter for about a year now and I'm generally very happy with Emby
  6. Hello and thanks in advance for your assistance, I have tried to access my server from three locations upon install: (1) localhost browser, (2) LAN browser and (3) remote browser (I haven't installed any clients yet, still getting things fine tuned). For some reason, even though everything appears fine on the server PC's browser, some images/GUI is not appearing on my laptop which is accessing the app through the same LAN. Even more strangely, I have used TeamViewer to view the interface from a remote PC at my work and there are no problems there--only on the laptop using the app on the same local network as the Server P.C. I cannot understand this behavior because I am using the same Chrome browser with identical extensions across the board. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The first image is what I see on both the Emby Server P.C. and the remote access work P.C. The second image is what appears on my laptop which is on the same network as the Emby Server P.C.

    Google Drive Playback 'Please Help'

Hi All, I am really hoping that somebody can help me out. I have a VPS set up and tbh the spec is pretty low so i wanted to upload my media to my VPS and then sync to google drive. Once synced to google drive, 'The Plan' was to get emby to only allow playback of google drive links. I have managed to get everything set up and whilst at work today i was testing everything from the office and everything was working perfectly. For those that dont know how i achieved this i done the following: 1. synced all my media to google drive with the following criteria. a. Set profile to baseline b. quality to custom c. MBps set to 30mbps 2. I then set the playback setting under User Settings > Playback to 30MBps 3. I set the maximum bitrate Dashboard > Playback > Streaming to 100MBps 4. Disabled playback of media that requires transcoding in the user account settings. (I think that was everything) Now with this setup i managed to play back the media in a Google chrome browser and every time it played perfectly from Google Drive. I came home two hours later and now it wont play from Google Drive :/ I am also using the Kodi Addon (Wrong place to mention it i know) and that wint play a stream full stop. I know plenty of people have mentioned streaming from google and stuff like that but i am really keen to get this to work, there doesn't seem to be a lot of talk about it and if anyone can help me i would greatly appreciate it. Starting to feel like i am going around in circles. Any help. from anyone would be a lifeline. Thanks Mike

    Installation

I have been using Emby for a while and love it. Earlier today, I installed the server version 3.0.5724.3 to a new Windows 8.1 box. The installation appeared to be OK. When I went to start the server (not as a service) I got an error stating the item 'MediaBrowser.Server.Apllication.exe' that this shortcut refers has been changed or moved. I simply did an install. Looking in C:\Users\<profile>\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\System I could not find MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe. But I did find MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe.config. I went to my existing (and working) configuration and updated to the same version. Same issue. How can this be fixed? Appears to be a bad install package.
  9. @@ebr @@Luke Today when I updated the Server to the above version, all my Collections started to look like the attached Screenshot on all of my HTML based Clients (Android, WebClient on Chrome, Firefox). Before, the Covers were fitting in the designated field. On Samsung TV, everything looks as it needs to be. Curiously, this occured just on the first collection page (1-100), when I switched to page 2 (101-X), the covers are normal... Now to the funny thing: When I change the order from ascending to descending, the different covers on Page 2 are also not cropped even they were cropped on Page 1 before changing the order. When changing to sorting by added Date, suddenly all Covers are well sized on Page 1 and cropped on Page 2, so the behaviour is the other way around than described above. The oversizing occurs on all types of Coverart Options (Stacked, SideCase, ClearCase etc...), even they look fine in Metadata Manager. Refreshing does not help. Activate of keeping original aspect ratio does totally screw up the sizes. It seems that Covers from Fanart.tv (1000x1426) are treated right after changing it to the preferred Picture Downloader. But themoviedb Posters (1000x1500) or greater resolutions are sized to big. When manually upload 1000x1426 resized pic to Metadata Manager, it's also not working. Something is really wrong (at least just on my machine?) with the first page of collections in realtions to the different calls for sorting.
  10. Hi there, I'm running latest emby on my linux server, everything (more or less) seems to work fine, but my logs show some erros, see below and attachment, what can I do, what is going wrong? thx emby1.log

Need help setting up Live TV

Hi, I just updated to the new server update (v3.0.5713.0) and I am trying to set up Live TV. When trying to set it up it asks for either HD HomeRun or M3U. I am a bit of a noob at this but I am not using HD HomeRun and I am unsure what M3U is. I am currently using a Kaiser Baas Digital Radio TVStick. I am unsure how to set this up to work with Emby Live TV. Any instructions or a nod to an article with the instructions would be much appreciated. Also I notice that the 'Upcoming' TV episodes tab still only shows particular shows and not others. Is this something that's going to take a bit to correct on my side due to meta files? (Like the actors issue recently)

    Parental Ratings (Foreign)

Anyone seeing foreign parental rating being fetched. Happen to look at Parental Rating filter in Movies and didn't expect to see ratings for different countries. So I chose one Ironclad 2: Battle for Blood it initially showed "15" so I performed a refresh and it changed to "GB-15". There is not US rating listed on TMDB so why would one be listed? api return from TMDB OMDB returns Metadata downloaders set TMDB then OMDB Version 3.0.5713.6

    Emby Web Wizard Never Finishes

I managed to get the FreeBSD version of Emby installed in a jail on a 9.3 version of NAS4Free. However, once I got it started and ran the web-based wizard it gets to the Configure Settings screen and no matter what options I choose it never goes any further. Clicking the 'Next' button on this screen just puts a little spinney icon on the screen for a few seconds and then nothing.Trying to go to the /web/index.html page just starts the wizard over again. I have the server logs attached below, there are several errors but nothing that I understand. I am unable to do anything myself past this point, I'm afraid my FreeBSD troubleshooting skills end here, so I'm hoping one of you can point me in the right direction, otherwise I will have to abandon all the work I have done. Thanks for your help! server-63574765213.txt
  14. Hi. I am just only a week with Ember and I have lots of questions... Let's make one: I have the "save metadata and images into the media folder" and "Download artwork and metadata from the internet" options checked. Sometimes, landscape, poster and logo images are not saved into the movie folders. For example, if the server does not have internet connection during the library scan or it is aborted somehow (restart/shutdown the server), some of the images are not downloaded. Then, when there is again internet connection or a library scan is forced, the missing images are downloaded. They can be correctly seen in the Metadata Manager and in the Movies Library, but, however, they are not saved into the movie folder, whatever I do afterwards. In order to make them be saved, I have to delete the whole library, restart the server, add again the media folders, let them be scanned without any interruption and, then, everything is correctly saved in their place. Is there any possibility to force these images to be saved into the movie folders without having to delete the whole library and start the library scan from zero? Thanks!
  15. Hello, I have Emby server running on a Windows desktop at home. Family members access the server primarily through a Roku 3 device. I've reviewed the media organization and file naming conventions in the wiki. I'd like to better understand how best to apply those conventions in the context of family-generated media. We have 2 cell phones (iphone & android), a digital camera, and also receive photos and videos from relatives. All members of the family would like access to each others' media. Is there any benefit to creating a user account on Windows named "Emby" and logging-in as that user when downloading media from all devices and sources? Possibly an additional complication is that the iPhone pairs best with iTunes to manage its media. The organization guidelines suggest placing media of the same type together. Our Canon camera stores photos and video together in folders named by the date. When creating an Emby library, is it possible to use wildcards to index only JPG files in a directory and then only MOV files? Is it possible to ignore RAW image files, which are very large? Thank you, -david

    Building A New Server

Hi, I'm sort of new to Emby but I've tried out the software on my old desktop server and i really like it, but my current server solution is very slow at trans coding and its just a really bad server. So I've decided to build a new one that will be primarily a media server running Emby but it will also be my back up server too so I'm just asking for recommendations on what type of server I should look for preferably under £300 - £400. I've looked at the recommended specs and all that type of stuff just wondering if you lot have any recommendations or anything that could help me decide what server to buy i don't mind if its pre built or a project server. Many thanks - David
  18. I recently had to replace one of my hard drives, and restore a backup. The backup wasn't up-to-date, so had to rip some of the tv shows. Some of my shows are multi-episodes, and are named 7x09-x10 for example. Metadata manager and the xml file both have the correct info, but under reports>missing episodes, it is showing the 2nd episode as missing. How do i fix this?

    Connection Failure

Hi, Since the Android update a few days ago with the new VLC player thing I have been unable to access Emby outside my network either via Android app or app.emby.media. I can log in, but when I select my server it comes up with the message: "Connection Failure" "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please Ensure it is Running and try again." I have no antivirus or defender blocking it as it usually works fine, I can still remote into my PC via TeamViewer so internet is no issue. EMBY SERVER v3.0.5675.1 EMBY FOR ANDROID v2.3.80 Also as a side note, I still need help with another topic I posted about a few days ago. http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/23539-transcoding-issue/ Thanks SERVER 25-07-15 .txt

server update breaks live tv icons

HI, Just want to know if I am the only one who has tv icons manually adjusted for live tv (Channel 7, Win, Network 10 etc), but every server update breaks them and I have to manually edit the metadata images for them? This is a little time consuming (not really too bad, but a PITA), anybody notice similair behaviour. This happens across all machines (win 7 pc and win 7 htpc, all clients - android, moto x and tf700 tablet, with server 3.0.5675.1). Thanks
  22. Hi, Looking for some help Emby Server Version 3.0.5675.1 O/S WinServer 2012 R2 E Issue : playback stalls after a while (say 10 minutes) you get to watch 5-10 second clips, then a pause, then the next clip. Everything had been fine, until I shut the system down for a couple of weeks at the beginning of July, and it hasn't worked since Specifically, it stutters on Android and Web on windows PC, and the new Kodi addon just says 'opening stream', but never plays anything (previously it used to directly play the file). I suspect multiple problems At this point, I'm supposed to attach a server log file, but the one for today is already >10MB, so will need to cut and paste lines. Looking at it, the bulk of it is two lines repeated 2015-07-23 13:11:09.8799 Info - App: HttpClientManager POST: http://192.168.1.102:1400/MediaRenderer/RenderingControl/Control 2015-07-23 13:11:12.2548 Info - App: HttpClientManager POST: http://192.168.1.72:1400/MediaRenderer/RenderingControl/Control the two IP address are two Sonos Zone players (there are five in total, the other three never appear in the list). I'm not sure if this is a red herring (as far the suttering / transcoding issue goes) but I think it indicates something that needs fixing Less often, you get the following error 2015-07-23 11:13:29.7802 Error - UpnpContentDirectory: Error processing control request *** Error Report *** Version: 3.0.5675.1 Command line: C:\Users\NetAdmin\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\system\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe -service Operating system: Microsoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0 Processor count: 8 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: False Program data path: C:\Users\NetAdmin\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server Application Path: C:\Users\NetAdmin\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\system\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe One or more errors occurred. 23. Hi, The problem i'm describing is happening on the android app, but started happening with the latest server update. When I use the voice command "Shuffle my favorite songs" (very cool, it works well) it seems to be shuffling the same few songs every time, as if it was doing an instant mix. I just checked it on the web interface and it is doing the same. Would love it if it was as before.

    Sort within collections

Is there a way to sort videos within collections alphabetically in the server? I have some collections that have a mix of movies and tv series e.g. Star Trek. MB3 shows the contents separated into movies and TV shows (which is good) but the movies and the tv shows are then in a more or less random sorting. Is it possible to add the sort button that you have at the top level items inside collections as well?
  25. Hi, I logged on to my server last night for the first time in a few weeks, and can no longer access the dashboard, unless I go to app.emby.media. I see the following page. It might pay for me to note that, I'm hosting the dashboard-ui from \\SERVER\Emby\dashboard-ui
