    Login Session won't expire

Hi, Emby-server: docker on Linux, Version 3.2.60.0 Client: Chromium Browser This is sort of weird. I was unable to remove some LiveTV test channel data, so I did the folowing: - stopped server - removed the .emby-server directory - all runntime data - cleared all browser history data incl cookies, shift-reload the emby page - re-start server as per https://hub.docker.com/r/emby/embyserver/ docker run -it --rm -v /usr/local/bin:/target emby/embyserver instl - start the emby-server with: emby-server - as expected I'm asked for a media directory on the host .. entered. - parts of the login page seem to blink, but I'm still forwarded to the home page (???) - if I sign-out, I'm redirected to the server config page. - from the server page I can return to the Home page without login. Unsurprisingly I then start seeing these messages in the log: MediaBrowser.Controller.Net.SecurityException: Access token is invalid or expired. I do not seem to be able to force a fresh login & session ... Adding log extract: 2018-01-07 01:49:26.907 Info HttpServer: HTTP POST http://192.168.43.8:8096/emby/Sessions/Logout. ANSWERED NFS Unable to add

Hi, I have read almost all NFS threads but no one has managed to help me. Do I need to install anything extra on Linux for NFS? I need to make this work until Christmas.
  3. Big user of Emby here, but about 2 months ago I've came across a problem that really screwed me over. I installed Emby via the third party repository (now you get Emby with a .deb file), and after a failed Emby upgrade, Emby's repository messed with my dependencies, deleting core system packages in the process. My system was a Debian server on version 9.1. Luckily I had backups, so I reinstalled, but I did not install Emby because I was scared of losing my dependencies again. Now I'm Emby-less. So devs, can you please consider getting Emby into the official repositories for major distributions? This will make installing Emby a lot less of a hassle and ensure a more stable system. Thank you.
  4. I apologize if this is not in the correct forum. I also apologize if this is already answered. I have two Linux Mint computers connected via Ethernet cable. A Cisco Linksys E1500 is the router between them. On Linux Mint 17.3 I installed, setup, and am running embyserver. The IP is x.x.x.1 (not the real address.) On the router, I set a Single Port Forwarding named emby as External Port 8096, Internal Port 8096, Protocol Both, IP Address x.x.x.1 (where that is the IP address of the server computer). On Linux Mint 18.3 I installed kodi (from the ppa:team-xbmc/ppa repository) following directions from http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_Kodi_for_Linux This computer is IP x.x.x.2 (again, not the real address) In the kodi client I installed the EmbyCon add on. In the EmbyCon settings I set the Server Address to x.x.x.1 and the Server Port to 8096. Use HTTPS is off and Verify Certificate is OFF. When I click Detect Server it reports No Servers Detected. User name is set to "john" and the password is left blank. Device name is set to EmbyCon. On the server I added a user named "john" and left the password empty. (Actually I tried with and without passwords etc.) So... help, how do I broadcast from the server so that I can see the files (movies in this case) on the client? thank you

    Error while Library scan

Hello, I have since a few days issues with scanning my library. Prior upgrading to the beta, this happened: After upgrading to the beta, this happens: I checked the folders, the data is available, i can read it, move it, but emby is not able to scan it. EDIT: I should also state, this error happens not immediatly, it happens after maybe 60% Library Scan, its always an random percent number. I add the logs later, as im at work. Greetings cyberplay

    Raspberry Pi Emby Server

Yesterday I was looking at Plex, trying to see if I could set up a server running on my raspberry pi. So I thought I would try it out first on my windows computer. I really liked it but soon realized the free version that I using required me to still pay £3 something to 'activate' it otherwise I could only watch 1 min of video. I started looking for free alternatives to Plex and quickly found Emby, It looked really nice, had a free version that I could actually watch something with and had a Linux server. When I tried this out on my windows computer and watched some videos from my NAS (its an old WD sharespace and I don't think you can run the emby severs straight off that but it would be nice if I could). I then got downloading raspbian and loading it up onto my pi, just a warning I have pretty much no programming or linux knowledge except from setting up XBMC (that I didn't really like) and writing a very simple program in python. I kept getting errors on my pi so i tried arch Linux, more errors, raspbian again, more errors and i think another distribution and even more errors. Even after googling the errors, it never worked. Later that night I gave up and looked into new synololgy NASes that support Emby server and then move my WD greens across but the cheapest ones where about £175 i think. So then this morning i was looking at a small cheap mini pc then have the server and maybe even a proxy server (just for when i go on holiday so i can watch bbc) and i found the Intel compute stick and i could just have it hanging there, not plugged into a tv but there was so ethernet and i defiantly didn't want to use WiFi. I ended up coming back here and looking at the raspberry pi. If anyone can find or make either a simple install method, an installer or even better an ISO with a working linux version on it (im not really expecting that but maybe it would be nice for the emby team to include that on their downloads page for other confused people. Thanks, Max
  10. I have messed with the stable emby, and the two most recent beta releases. My server is running Unraid and im using the official Emby docker. The server specs are Core i7 4790 with 32GB ram with a 5Gb/s network connection, allot of my media is stored on a separate Synology server that has a 2Gb/s network connection. Just as a reference I have Plex running using the exact same configuration and it is lightning fast. So the issue I am having is that 99% of the time I open the Emby web app, Windows 10 App, or iPhone app, it is excruciatingly slow. I'm talking 5-10min just to load the main screen, another 5-10 min to load any libraries as well as the TV Guide. Everything is just incredibly slow, or never loads at all. However some times it loads almost instantly, but this seems to be rare. Actually playing media, LiveTV, Movies, Shows, Music, is fast, no problems there at all, no buffering, no stuttering, and silky smooth. My libraries are tiny in comparison to the amount of movies many other users have on these forums, I talking maybe 100 movies IF THAT. The only plugins I am using are the Cover Art, and Collections plugin, but I was having this issue before installing them too. I have attached the two most recent logs. server-63639216000.txt server-63639262214.txt

    File permissions again

Failure setting up Emby (my first time) I have a hard drive in my 'server' that contains all my media. It is formatted as NTFS. I have it mounted from the fstab. listing of files/directories show as ... -rwxr-xr-x 1 bric bric 110914782 Jun 16 21:11 Finding Dory-trailer.mov drwxr-xr-x 1 bric bric 4096 Jul 30 15:09 Home Video I added emby to the group owning the files on that drive. So the groups command returns: emby: emby bric When I try to add the media library (in the web interface) either with /path/to/mounted/drive/Movies or //192.168.0.10/Movies or //MyServer/Movies I get this error: More info needed? Suggestions about what to try next?
  13. Hello, i run Sabayon linux which is based off of Gentoo linux. I just had to redo my system and i went to redownload the emby server .tar files only to find the manual install option in the downloads section of emby's website is gone. Does anyone know of a alternative location to obtain the server installation files?

    Automatic authentification

Hi everyone! I'm using the Emby Server on Linux with more than 5 users. Iis it normal if I always, at a constant interval, request for authentification. After the user authentification, no activities is done. I seem like a automatic authentification for the client application. If this is normal, is it possible to mask the authentifications from the manager? Thanks you.
  15. Hi I could do with some help on this as I'm confused. Installed Open Media Vault version 3 on my NAS, then installed the docker plugin and downloaded the Emby image and set up some shares to the media library. Emby starts fine, can scrap the media and the UI is super responsive however it won't play anything - tried via the web app / dlna and xbox one app - which is confusing as I've had all the working before and I believe I've set things up the same way and everything worked fine. Attached the docker and server logs. The server is using MergeFS with all libraries owned by root / user and set to 777, Docker is in Host mode with the /config folder sitting on a SSD again controlled by a OMV Share. I'm controlling the docker image via the OMV plugin UI Not sure what i'm missing. Hope some can shed some light on what I'm doing / have done wrong. Kentish DockerLog.txt EmbyServerLog.txt

    ANSWERED Linux build scripts removed

Hi As I like to learn stuff and build packages of my own I compiled every new version of Emby in a docker container. Since the update to 3.2.19 my script broke. I checked it and found that the folder Linux_Build_Scripts that was in the Tools folder before, is now gone along with MediaBrowser.Mono.Build.sh I looked on the github page a bit and couldn't find any documentation how I should build Emby now. Is there any documentation on how to build/compile Emby from source available? Greetings toneman77

API key changes every time I update

I'm on the beta, and every time I apt-get upgrade the api changes. This is a huge annoyance as I use the Ombi requests system that relys on the api. any idea why this is?

    Can't download Emby Linux Server

Hi, I just wanted to ask if there is a problem with the download servers since i get a "503 Site is on maintenance" message and if there is a alternative download link well thank you for your time.

Debian Beta is no longer updating from repo

I recall this happened a few months ago, and I'm running into again now. Emby Dashboard shows I'm running 3.2.15.1 and that 3.2.15.5 is currently available. Yet when I run apt-get update & apt-get dist-upgrade, nothing is found. It's done this on all the incremental updates from *.1 to now. If anyone else is having this issue, I'd love to know it's not just on my end.
  20. Hello I've been stuck trying to add my library to Emby since installing two days ago. I used to use the app a few years ago without issue on a Fedora install and now it only ever loads locally-stored media. I have an NFS share on 192.168.1.254:/srv/media. Initially I tried mounting it and then pointing Emby to the local mountpoint. When I add 192.168.1.254:/srv/media to my fstab, the directory mounts on boot correctly and members of the :media group (of which the emby user is one) can write to the folder. Then I start emby and the share may as well have never been mounted because Emby sees nothing and processes nothing at all in that folder. So then I remove the share from my fstab and proceed to let Emby handle whatever mounting needs to be done by supplying the Network Path in the Library setup, at which point it complains about every path format I give it. These are the paths that do not work: nfs://192.168.1.254 nfs://192.168.1.254:/srv/media nfs://192.168.1.254/srv/media And all of them throw the "There was an error adding the media path." error Apparently Emby can't access my media on its own unless its on a local block device, so now I'm totally confused. Do i need another piece of software installed on 192.168.1.254 just to get the share to work with Emby? Running multiple "helper apps" across multiple machines on top of NFS is complete overkill. Any insight would be helpful, I feel like I'm wasting my time and would just like a straight answer as to whether Emby supports NFS without extra utilities or setup.
  21. Hello there, I've been using multiple Emby server instances for quite a while now and I tried my luck with Amazon Cloud Drive (later referred as ACD). Basically I've tried everything I could, but it seems like that Emby is (currently?) not in a state, that it can be used with ACD without issues. First, let me show you my current setup. I try to provide as many details as possible. Hardware: CPU: Intel® Xeon® CPU E31275 @ 3.40GHz RAM: 32GB ECC Disk: 2x Seagate Cheetah 15K.7 300GB, SAS 6Gb/s (ST3300657SS) - running as RAID 1 on a LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-4i with 512MB RAM. OS and application versions: OS: Debian Jessie Stable - Debian 3.16.36-1+deb8u2 (2016-10-19) x86_64 GNU/Linux Emby: emby-server - 3.1.2-12.1 embymagick:amd64 - 6.9.6+6-7.1 libembysqlite3-0:amd64 - 3.15.0+1-7.1 libsqlite3-0:amd64 - 3.15.2-1 (acd_cli is using it, that's why I'm providing information to it) nginx (used as reverse proxy to provide a SSL encrypted connection to the Emby server without the need to create a pfx file): nginx - 1.6.2-5+deb8u4 nginx-common - 1.6.2-5+deb8u4 nginx-full - 1.6.2-5+deb8u4 That was the basic information - now let me show you, how I actually mount my ACD: Using acd_cli (https://github.com/bgemmill/acd_cli): acd_cli -nl mount --modules="subdir,subdir=/Storage" /mnt/acd/ --allow-other --umask 000 --interval 0 After running this command I have everything located in the storage folder on ACD in /mnt/acd This looks like (output of ls -l /mnt/acd): drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 29 07:38 animatic drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 10 20:31 anime drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 10 20:31 audiobooks drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Jan 1 16:11 documentary-series drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 31 23:02 documentary-single drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 10 20:31 podcasts drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 29 16:12 series drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 10 20:31 series-en While having it mounted, I'm using rar2fs (https://github.com/hasse69/rar2fs) to make the media files in the RAR folders readable for emby: rar2fs --flat-only --no-expand-cbr --seek-length=1 --hist-size=40 --iob-size=32 -o max_readahead=4096M -o allow_other -o umask=000 /mnt/acd/animatic /mnt/rar2fs/animatic rar2fs --flat-only --no-expand-cbr --seek-length=1 --hist-size=40 --iob-size=32 -o max_readahead=4096M -o allow_other -o umask=000 /mnt/acd/anime /mnt/rar2fs/anime rar2fs --flat-only --no-expand-cbr --seek-length=1 --hist-size=40 --iob-size=32 -o max_readahead=4096M -o allow_other -o umask=000 /mnt/acd/documentary-single /mnt/rar2fs/documentary-single rar2fs --flat-only --no-expand-cbr --seek-length=1 --hist-size=40 --iob-size=32 -o max_readahead=4096M -o allow_other -o umask=000 /mnt/acd/documentary-series /mnt/rar2fs/documentary-series rar2fs --flat-only --no-expand-cbr --seek-length=1 --hist-size=40 --iob-size=32 -o max_readahead=4096M -o allow_other -o umask=000 /mnt/acd/series /mnt/rar2fs/series rar2fs --flat-only --no-expand-cbr --seek-length=1 --hist-size=40 --iob-size=32 -o max_readahead=4096M -o allow_other -o umask=000 /mnt/acd/series-en /mnt/rar2fs/series-en This results in the following structure (output of ls -l /mnt/rar2fs): drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 29 07:38 animatic drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 10 20:31 anime drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Jan 1 16:11 documentary-series drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 31 23:02 documentary-single drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 29 16:12 series drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 10 20:31 series-en So far for the media files. Also I made some RAM partitions to maximize the performance of Emby and ACD. ACD stores it's cache (the node info and so on) in a folder called .cache, located in /root. For Emby itself I have changed some paths to fit my needs: Cache: /opt/emby/cache Logs: /var/lib/emby-server/logs Metadata: /opt/emby/metadata Transcoding temporary files: /opt/emby/transcoding-temp So, I created three RAM "drives" with tmpfs, which are used as following: acd_cli db: tmpfs 1.5G 198M 1.4G 13% /root/.cache emby folders: tmpfs 12G 2.3G 9.8G 19% /opt/emby tmpfs 3.0G 301M 2.8G 10% /var/lib/emby-server As you can see, there is still plenty of free space available. Just for the sense of completeness: I sync these folder every three minutes to disk. Also I adjusted the mounts to increase I/O performance (output of /etc/fstab) - I removed the UUIDs: UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx / ext4 noatime,errors=remount-ro 0 1 UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx /boot ext4 noatime,errors=remount-ro 0 1 UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx /tmp ext4 relatime,rw,nosuid, nodev 0 2 UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx /var ext4 relatime,rw 0 2 UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx /home ext4 noatime,rw,nosuid, nodev 0 2 UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx /opt ext4 noatime, defaults 0 0 UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx none swap sw 0 0 tmpfs /var/lib/emby-server tmpfs noatime,defaults,size=3072M 0 0 tmpfs /opt/emby/ tmpfs noatime,defaults,size=12288M 0 0 tmpfs /root/.cache/ tmpfs noatime,defaults,size=1536M 0 0 For ACD I have no possibility to specify additional parameters such as noatime or relatime to increase the performance. Next is my nginx config for Emby (output of /etc/nginx/sites-available/emby) - I removed the real URL as I want to keep them private: server { server_name mydomain; listen 80; rewrite ^ https://mydomain$request_uri? permanent; } server { server_name mydomain; listen 443 ssl spdy; ssl_certificate /etc/letsencrypt/live/mydomain/cert.pem; ssl_certificate_key /etc/letsencrypt/live/mydomain/privkey.pem; ssl_prefer_server_ciphers On; ssl_protocols TLSv1 TLSv1.1 TLSv1.2; ssl_ciphers 'AES256+EECDH:AES256+EDH:!aNULL'; ssl_stapling on; resolver 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 valid=300s; resolver_timeout 5s; ssl_stapling_verify on; keepalive_timeout 180; # This is for strict transport security HSTS # add_header Strict-Transport-Security max-age=31536000; client_max_body_size 1024M; location / { # Send traffic to the backend proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8096; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-for $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_set_header Host $host; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto $remote_addr; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Protocol $scheme; proxy_redirect off; # Send websocket data to the backend aswell proxy_http_version 1.1; proxy_set_header Upgrade $http_upgrade; proxy_set_header Connection "upgrade"; } } Additional I made some kernel improvements to increase the TCP performance (output of /etc/sysctl.conf): net.core.rmem_max = 33554432 net.core.wmem_max = 33554432 net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 4096 87380 33554432 net.ipv4.tcp_wmem = 4096 65536 33554432 net.ipv4.tcp_no_metrics_save = 1 net.core.netdev_max_backlog = 5000 net.ipv4.tcp_congestion_control = cubic Last but not least I modified the mono environment variables: MONO_THREADS_PER_CPU=2048 MONO_GC_PARAMS=nursery-size=2048m Currently I don't use any 3rd party plugins for Emby. My media collection is currently 6.8TB, which are mostly SD files and only series, no movies (I run another Emby server for that, which runs perfectly fine, as everything is stored locally ). I disabled realtime monitoring and extraction of chapter images on all folders in Emby. The only options I enabled in the library scan options are: - Download artwork and metadata from the internet - Download images in advance I disabled everything completly for documentary-single as there is no metadata to find on almost all episodes anyway. --------- I think that is all I can do to increase the perfomance from my side, however I experience a lot of issues using Emby in combination with ACD. I expected the first media scan to take quite a while, which is quite usual I asume. But upon the second scan it should be way faster - I think - which wasn't the case at all. Everytime I add new content - and if it's only one single episode - it takes several hours to a few days to complete the scan. The scheduled task Clean Database stucks at 45% for quite a few hours now. My questions are now as follows: - How does Emby actually determine new content? Is it going through each folder, even if it is already known, and checks if there is new content available? - Does it rely in anyway of a modification, access or create date to determine new content? - Is there anyway on my side, how I can increase the performance? - Would it might be possible to experiment with Amazon Cloud Drive at all, to get it working for everybody? I would be happy to help testing and collect ideas. Thanks for reading that far, if anything is needed, please let me know. I did not write this as an actual "please help me community" post, more like "hey @@Luke can you help me?" post All others: If you are not experienced with Linux, please don't try this setup, as it takes advanced Linux knowledge to run and maintain such a system. Oh and @@Luke: I can provide logfiles for you via PM, if you need them or anything - just let me know. Also I'd be more than happy to have a realtime chat or similar with you to exchange information! Thanks for all the good work on that project from everybody, who contributed! Regards, Steffen
  22. Hi all. So I've posted about this before, and didn't really receive support at that time unfortunately. Now that various versions have been released (which I've updated at various times), and I've tried a variety of things with the hardware (it's a VM). Nothing has fixed this issue, so I'm coming to the forums again for support. In case the title is unclear, playback of absolutely anything I watch in Emby will freeze at random times, and coincides with the service restarts that occur in the logs below. I'm including a code snippet with logs from before, during, and after a freeze that just happened today. I've also attached a complete copy/paste of today's logs. 2017-04-16 15:14:45.7666 Info HttpServer: HTTP GET http://13.37.42.50:8096/emby/videos/69bbf104e5f1842ebd8aad368bdc5f35/hls1/main/186.ts?DeviceId=4435ba0faf072cdd87c4f644d8c7e0faede72f06&MediaSourceId=69bbf104e5f1842ebd8aad368bdc5f35&VideoCodec=h264&AudioCodec=aac&AudioStreamIndex=1&VideoBitrate=1599616000&AudioBitrate=384000&Level=51&Profile=high&PlaySessionId=d0c65cfc23984b28b484e00813eb0946&CopyTimestamps=false&TranscodingMaxAudioChannels=6&EnableSubtitlesInManifest=false&Tag=e7a7db17ce0baad65181b3ebc045f716&RequireAvc=true&RequireNonAnamorphic=false&DeInterlace=false&SegmentContainer=ts&MinSegments=2&BreakOnNonKeyFrames=False. Question about RAM usage

Hello all, I'am running emby-server on an old netbook I had laying arround with an atom N450 processor and Ubuntu Server 14.04 32bit, as I have no need for transcoding atm it is perfect for my needs right now. Been running it for a couple of months as a backend for Kodi and working great. However, yesterday I upgraded the 1GB stick of RAM with a 2GB stick, the max the processor/mobo is capable. So because I upgraded the RAM I had a question, would I benefit from upgrading to a 64bit os, seeing as the processor is capable of it, but I was running 32bit ubuntu because of the low RAM. To find out, I decided to install a spare hard drive so I could install 32bit ubuntu, install emby-server, see cpu/ram consumption, then do the same with 64bit ubuntu and compare. However, as I was doing that with 32bit ubuntu I encountered something peculiar that I don't know if it's normal. I installed emby-server but haven't set up anything on the web ui just to see how the process acts with htop and discovered that after it starts it begins to consume more and more RAM till it's about 900MB, and then kinda restarts the process and begins doing it again. Because of that, I haven't tested 64bit ubuntu. So my question is, is that normal behavior for emby-server, maybe mono on linux, or maybe there's something wrong with my setup altought it's a fresh installation. I attached what I think it's the latest log at this moment, and I think it's showing an error but I don't really know. Thanks. Edit: What would you recommend, use 64bit ubuntu or stick with the 32bit? server-63593298069.txt
  24. I changed the local access port of the emby and lost the access, already tried everything to access and nothing, how do I go back to the original port?
  25. Hello, I'm using Emby 3.1.2.0 installed on a Linux distribution. My Media folder (video files only) live on a NAS unit being shared via cifs as read only to the Emby server. I ensured that in the Library settings, the option to not store Metadata in the same folder as the media was selected. I have configured the Subtitles function w/ my opensubtitle login info and have validated it works (via searching). The issue I'm having, however, is that it wants to download the .srt file to the Media path (my cifs share). I don't want that, the only data I want on that filesystem is the raw movie files themselves. I also don't want to expose write capabilities to the cifs share for security reasons (accidental deletion for example). All the metadata gets downloaded and stored somewhere in the app when I choose that above mentioned option in Library creation, however, I can't seem to find anywhere to override the location of where subtitles are stored. How may I go about, assuming it's currently possible, changing or providing a download path suitable to my configuration? Thanks in advance!
