  1. Hi All, I've recently migrated my installation over to the official Emby docker container on an Unraid server from a previous Windows setup. Settings were migrated across using the backup and restore plugin. Only user data was restored as obviously paths had changed in the migration process. Since the migration, I've found that many services are failing with a "Name or service not known" exception, similar to the below. Failing to retrieve metadata and plugin updates are the most obvious problems. 2020-04-23 19:52:21.760 Error App: Error in TheTVDB *** Error Report *** Version: 4.4.2.0 Command line: /system/EmbyServer.dll -programdata /config -ffdetect /bin/ffdetect -ffmpeg /bin/ffmpeg -ffprobe /bin/ffprobe -restartexitcode 3 Operating system: Unix 4.19.107.0 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True User Interactive: True Runtime: file:///system/System.Private.CoreLib.dll System.Environment.Version: 3.1.2 Processor count: 14 Program data path: /config Application directory: /system System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: Name or service not known ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0xFFFDFFFF): Name or service not known at System.Net.Http.ConnectHelper.ConnectAsync(String host, Int32 port, CancellationToken cancellationToken) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Emby.Server.Implementations.HttpClientManager.CoreHttpClientManager.SendAsyncInternal(HttpRequestOptions options, String httpMethod) at Emby.Server.Implementations.HttpClientManager.CoreHttpClientManager.SendAsync(HttpRequestOptions options, String httpMethod) at Tvdb.TvdbSeriesProvider.DownloadSeriesZip(String seriesId, String idType, String seriesName, Nullable`1 seriesYear, String seriesDataPath, Nullable`1 lastTvDbUpdateTime, String preferredMetadataLanguage, String saveAsMetadataLanguage, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at Tvdb.TvdbSeriesProvider.DownloadSeriesZip(String seriesId, String idType, String seriesName, Nullable`1 seriesYear, String seriesDataPath, Nullable`1 lastTvDbUpdateTime, String preferredMetadataLanguage, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at Tvdb.TvdbSeriesProvider.EnsureSeriesInfo(Dictionary`2 seriesProviderIds, String seriesName, Nullable`1 seriesYear, String preferredMetadataLanguage, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at Tvdb.TvdbEpisodeProvider.GetMetadata(EpisodeInfo searchInfo, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at MediaBrowser.Providers.Manager.MetadataService`2.ExecuteRemoteProviders(MetadataResult`1 temp, String logName, TIdType id, IEnumerable`1 providers, CancellationToken cancellationToken) Source: System.Net.Http TargetSite: Void MoveNext() InnerException: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: Name or service not known Source: System.Private.CoreLib TargetSite: Void Throw() at System.Net.Http.ConnectHelper.ConnectAsync(String host, Int32 port, CancellationToken cancellationToken) IP address of the server has not changed from the Windows installation, and the firewall setup has not changed either. Docker is also new to me, so I couldn't say for certain, but I don't think this is a firewall problem? The server is behind a reverse proxy, which is successfully providing SSL certificates and allows for remote browsing/playback so not sure if this may be a factor. In any case, port 8096 is also forwarded to the server. Also not sure if it may be related or an application-specific issue; Sonarr does not display cover images for shows from the "Add new series" page, however it does successfully retrieve images when the series has been added. Radarr works fine. Full log has been attached, can anyone provide any wisdom or next steps for troubleshooting? Thanks. EDIT: Added docker port mappings, since it's probably relevant. embyserver.txt

    Quicksync docker

I want to know if it is possible to configure quicksync instead of vaapi with your official docker ?
  3. Good Day, I tried searching around but I am having issues after moving my Emby server from my PC to the Synology DS920+. I have a few friends that I allow remote access to my server to stream my content and it worked amazingly when it was set up on my PC. 1080 and 4k worked great. However, after moving everything to from my PC to the Synology, remote play has been extremely slow and buffering all the time. For someone to get uninterrupted stream they have to decrease the playback to 720 at 3Mbps. I am unsure what the issue is and below is all the software and hardware information. (Server streams fine locally on my network, its causing problems with outside networks.) PC (Use to run great on) i9 9900K 3.6 Ghz 32GB 3200Mhz Ram 2070 RTX Nvida GPU External 10TB HDD shucked to internal for storage 7200RPM NAS Synology DS920+ 24GB Ram 2x Seagate IronWolf Pro 16TB NAS Internal Hard Drive HDD 7200RPM (32TB) Internet VerizonFios 1G Speeds with a constant 800mbps Emby v4.7.5.0 Router has a 10Gbps LAN connection in which is what the Synology is hooked up to, I added port forwarding to the Emby Ports on the router to ensure outside connections didn't get blocked. I used Docker to install Emby on the Synology NAS device. As I type this, there are two people on my server trying to watch something and the CPU is sitting at 8% usage and the RAM is at 6%. I am unsure what other information is needed, but I am hopeful in working with the combined knowledge of the Emby form to lead me down the right path. Thank you very much in advance for your time.

    Transcoding Temp Out of Control

+1 I am also having this issue - The amount of space it is using is out of control.
  5. Hi guys, I'm afraid this has probably been asked before as I have tried to follow several of the posts on this forum. Namely: and I haven't setup a ssl cert yet but I am assuming this is not critical if I am testing things on port 80. My default.conf from /etc/nginx/conf.d/ is below. If I add anything above "server {" it stops working. I suspect it's something trivial like a missing } but I am at a loss to what. # Forward everything into Emby server { listen [::]:80; listen 80; server_name video.dyndns.org; proxy_hide_header X-Powered-By; add_header X-Xss-Protection "1; mode=block" always; add_header X-Content-Type-Options "nosniff" always; add_header Strict-Transport-Security "max-age=2592000; includeSubdomains" always; add_header X-Frame-Options "SAMEORIGIN" always; add_header 'Referrer-Policy' 'no-referrer'; add_header Content-Security-Policy "frame-ancestors dyndns.org video.dyndns.org;"; #add your domainname and all subdomains listed on your cert location / { proxy_pass http://192.168.1.83:8096; # Local emby ip and non SSL port proxy_hide_header X-Powered-By; proxy_set_header Range $http_range; proxy_set_header If-Range $http_if_range; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header Host $host; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; #Next three lines allow websockets proxy_http_version 1.1; proxy_set_header Upgrade $http_upgrade; proxy_set_header Connection "upgrade"; } } Any suggestions, as always, welcome

    Synology + Docker + Emby + Metadata

Hi guys, for reasons not worth explaining here I am currently without my dedicated server hardware. So I decided to install Docker to my Synology NAS and install the Emby image. My reasons for using the Docker Emby image and not the native Synology Emby app are various. DSM 6.2.4-25556 Update 2 Docker 20.10.3-0554 Emby latest (4.7.0.9) When I entered my premier key I got an error. After a bit of digging I found that if I turned off my Synology firewall then the key worked fine. Not ideal but to turn off the firewall for a few seconds while my premier key is validated and verified is not a deal breaker. What I found next is that when scanning my video library it doesn't download any metadata unless the firewall is off. I've tried a few different firewall rules but to no avail. Does anyone here have any ideas or the answer? Many thanks in advance! Container Log emby-1.html Container Settings emby.json embyserver.txt
  7. I am changing my home Emby server from an Ubuntu based .deb package installation to a Docker setup. I did not realise that you could keep all the metadata, images and subtitles in each Movie or TV Show folder. Is it possible to wave a magic wand and copy all the current metadata, images and subtitles (gathered over the years!) to each of the Movie or TV Show folders when I install Emby using Docker? I guess this is Docker independant and it would be best to do this operation before the change to Docker? /var/lib/emby/metadata/ --> /srv/storage/Emby/Movies/Movie Name (YEAR)/Movie Name (YEAR).nfo etc I await your magic wand. Transcoding Cache Flush Issue

Hello all! I am using the docker for Emby media Server on unraid. The functionality of the docker is no different than a socker on any other linux distro. The docker I use: https://registry.hub.docker.com/r/emby/embyserver/ I have my Emby and Plex dockers use ram as a transcoding working directory to save SSD life. I have /tmp mapped to the docker and both Plex and Emby are able to utilize the ram. However, Emby does not purge this cache once playback (the transcoding job) is finished. Plex on the other hand does this perfectly. I frequently check on my server, and ram usage will be somewhat high. After inspecting the directories, Emby transcoding is always the culprit, and no playbacks are occurring on the Emby Server. The transcoding directory is full of: Once I delete all of this, ram usage goes back to normal. I have had to do this many times. I am not sure if it is a bug with Emby or a config issue. Any further assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Hi, I have recently upgrade my HTPC with Emby Server to better allow transcoding. I had an older ubuntu server that both hosted both the media and emby server. Now I have an intel based windows PC with an SSD. I initially set this up directly on the PC and connected to the old ubuntu server and use it for all storage (including cache to avoid too many read/write actions and shortening the lifespan). Once I had setup SAMBA on the ubuntu server and signed in I had no issue. However, I decided to install Emby Docker container and run it through a VPN given that I use Emby away from home (with appropriate port forwarding). However, since doing this, any write requirements to the ubuntu server fails (both transcoding and cache) fail. I have tried to redo all the users:groups to make sure that they are all correct and it would seem to be the case. However, everytime I try to stream something that needs a buffer or transcoding the logs show that this fails with 'permission denied'. I have tried a number of things (see the unanswered post on https://stackoverflow.com/questions/71417345/configuring-user-permissions-in-docker-compose for a more extensive summary). Any thoughts? (I can post logs if helpful but there would seem only to be a 'permission denied' error when I see the action failed).
  10. Hi, I run the following command to start Emby docker container: docker run -d --name emby --volume /Emby/data/config:/config --volume /Emby/data/movie:/mnt/share1 --volume /Emby/data/show:/mnt/share2 --net=host --publish 8096:8096 --publish 8920:8920 --env UID=1000 --env GID=100 --env GIDLIST=100 emby/embyserver:4.6.4.0 When I use browser to access it prompts a panel to login with a default user of emby. I created local account named emby with UID 1000, but I still can't login with the password I set locally. Could you help how to login Emby? Thanks, Song

    Emby not running through Portainer

  12. Emby client started a conversion process and I noticed it and stopped the process on the server-side. Now, the client's device tries polling the server on the conversion/sync progress and it appears to make Emby refuse all connections from that source (from my nginx proxy, so basically any connections through my duckdns.org domain) and results in a 502 error. My setup is: Router port forward ports 80, 443 --> nginx-proxy-manager hosted on docker on my Ubuntu (192.168.1.13), which routes to my Emby Server on Docker Nginx logs attached, Emby Server logs attached as well. # EMBY SERVER LOGS 2022-02-08 02:27:26.449 Info Server: http/1.1 GET http://emby.mydomain.duckdns.org/Sync/JobItems/6/File. docker post-recording

Hi, i done a docker -it watch your record directory -extract srt -convert .ts to mkv or mp4 -process comchap or comcut on it. if 2-3 persons can test it and give me feedback, that will be nice. https://hub.docker.com/r/chacawaca/post-recording please use it with a test directory for now, keep DELETE_TS = 1 if you want to keep your .ts file thanks you
  14. Hi, Put this together for my own use - its a bit rough around the edges but figured i'd throw it out here should anyone want to give it a whirl! Docker Hub: https://hub.docker.com/r/matty87a/telemby GitHub: https://github.com/matty87a/telemby
  15. I have an Ubuntu server running the emby server docker container. Just spun it up yesterday. My password worked no problem. Today, I tried to log in through firefox on another linux machine, and my password doesn't seem to be working. So I decided to try resetting my admin/user account password by clicking the "Forgot Password" button. When I clicked the button, it prompts me for a username. When I type the username and then hit "Submit", nothing at all seems to happen. What can I do to troubleshoot this further so I can get access to my media server again?
  16. Hello, For a while now whenever I go to watch something through emby after about 20-25 minutes the session either crashes or is forcefully closed somehow and I am not seeing the reasoning in the logs. I attached a log file to show the behavior I am seeing. Essentially no matter what file I am watching (in this case a TV episode) it will crash or close out after that rough time period. Once I re-open the video or movie and start playback again I won't have any issues at all with the movie or tv show, no matter how long I watch after. I am not sure if this is a plug in issue, but I have removed a ton of plugins to see if that was the cause but so far the issue still persists. I usually am casting through my android phone through the app (Pixel 4A with Android 12 Beta). I have emby running in a docker container (5:20.10.8~3-0~debian-buster) on OpenMediaVault (5.6.14-1) (Kernel: Linux 5.10.0-0.bpo.8-amd64). I have not been able to pinpoint exactly what causes the issue to re-occur as sometimes its overnight, sometimes its a week later. I attached the log from emby, but cannot find any log that might be stored on my phone as well to upload that. Also, I should mention that I saw others having bitrate issues and that was the root cause. I am not 100% sure how to do this in the android emby app, but I have gigabit wired ethernet running to both the chromecast as well as the server running emby, so while it may still be an issue of speed, I would highly doubt that. Log line issue occurred on: [2021-09-06 16:17:26.698 Info SessionManager: Playback stopped reported by app Emby for Chromecast 2.1.0 playing Forgetting Sarick Mortshall. Stopped at 1336684 ms] I know there are some errors in there for the coverart plugin but I know those are centered around HVEC codec and is a known issue that hasn't affected anyones playback that I can find. I also have lifetime emby premier but am seeing a warning in regards to a license, not sure what that's about either. 2021-09-06 15:52:27.982 Error Server: Access token is invalid or expired. Thank you for your time and any help you might have for me! embyserver.txt

    [DOCKER] HTTPS is not working

Been a while since I have had to post so just a quick thank you. I am running EmbyServer in a docker on my unRAID server (emby/embyserver:latest) and I'm trying to get HTTPS to work through my Nginx Proxy. HTTP works no problem. 18. Hello everyone Last Friday I restarted my Docker Emby container on Unraid. I lost all my libraries. I had the "Server Configuration Backup" extension, but no restore worked. I was using this Emby package, so I thought that this one had a problem. So I installed a new package at the end of the day. Everything was working until today when I had no cover image on my libraries. I restarted my container, and I lost all my containers. I also tried a restore but nothing worked. Also, it deleted my old Emby log files... However, I found an error in the little log file : When I look in my system, all the metadatas are deleted... ! Do you know can i fix it and restore my metadas ? Thanks a lot embyserver-63765654731.txt
  19. Hi Everyone, sorry for the long-winded post: I have approximately, 5 remote users that may be transcoding at any given time, plus 3 possible direct streams in my house, then mobile phone/tablet usage, maybe a couple at a time max (but rare, at least for now) I know there are a lot of posts where people are asking what kind of server to use, and if their server is good enough, my question(s) are different. First I will give an idea of my previous servers so you can see where I have been, so we can understand better, where I would like to go: 1.) I started with a Drobo FS (for Media) with single drive redundancy, and a Dell Poweredge R610 running a Plex server (this worked well for a few years), but I did need to rebuild Plex now and again, and setup all my coverart/other metadata a few times. (not fun). 2.) I moved to a Drobo 5N (with a cache drive) I initially tried the Plex server built into the Drobo 5N, but the server was too slow, so I went back to the Dell and used the Drobo just for the Media 3.) I lost all the Drobo files because a second drive failed during a rebuild. rip. So I moved to a Synology DS1815+ (maxed the RAM on it, 2 drive redundancy) I upgraded my Plex server to an HP DL360 G6 with 128 GB RAM and 2x Xeon 5650 (got it for cheap through my work) Eventually I lost all my metadata (not media) on Plex because a SAS drive failed. 4.) I created an iSCSI LUN on my Synology and put Plex on that (so I don't have to worry about losing the VMs/MetaData), tried that for a while, but it was too slow. (At this point I decided to switch from Plex to Emby for features as well) 5.) So FINALLY (sorry for the long post again) I ended up with my DL360 running ESXi, with an Emby VM, and a seperate torrent VM (always behind VPN). Basiclly, The DL360 isn't working anymore, it is currently in my garage, and during the summer, it sounds like a jet taking off, and the fans die often. The only place I can move it is the basement, and that doesn't fit there (it's GIANT), so I need to build a PC, and I figured I would futureproof a bit, and move away from enterprise to avoid the expensive replacement equipment. (Fans, and SAS drives). I am not sure if I should continue on the ESXi route (compatibility with non-enterprise parts seems to be annoying, and the VMWare matrix is a nightmare, at least to me), or maybe run something like FreeNAS or UnRAID (Emby Container). I don't want to go the UnRAID/FreeNAS route, only to find out that I have taken a step-back in performance (like the Drobo and the Synology server application was). However, I do like the idea of getting four M.2 500GB NVMe drives running the OS, so I never have to worry again about losing my VMs(or containers)/metadata. OR just install a linux server OS, then run all my servers as containers on that. I see that I can set a GPU to passthrough to an Emby container in UnRAID, and get GPU transcoding. So that seems like a perk. So, I am curious what everyone thinks about potential hardware setup, and what my best option may be for the OS to take advantage of said hardware. I am putting this post in hardware, because the hardware I am buying is going to change depending on what OS(s) can take advantage of it (give best performance). When it's all said and done, I'll want a full replacement for the Emby Server (currently ESXi VM) and my torrent server (ESXi VM) and a couple other servers (Home assistant, Minecraft, whatever else I am playing with). With the best possible performance. How much RAM do you think? (like 32 or 64 DDR4 will be way faster than the 128GB that I hardly use currently) Intel CPU (probably, right?), Nvdia Video card seems to be a good choice (around 2070 looks fine)...? RAID on SSD or NVMe, at the OS level? Is this just going ridiculously overkill? Can anyone help with some ideas please? I would really appreciate any insight to help me make some decisions before it starts getting too hot in the garage. Thank you!
  20. Hi, And thanks for this software. Right now I'm running emby server (premiere) on synology app (NAS is a 918+) ; client is installed on a first generation nvidia shield . All is connected via ethernet. Sometimes (rarely to be frank, very rarely) I got stuttering, mainly x or h265 files. I get two months ago a second hand elitedesk G4 mini (UHD Graphics 630) and installed linux (ubuntu 20.04 server) to run some valheim, minecraft and conan exiles servers via docker. And I wonder if using an emby container on this linux computer would improve performances. CPU is way better in the G4 than in the NAS. RAM is the same, 32Go. I have several questions, having close to none tech skill. 1- In my current setup (syno server to shield), which is "decoding" the stream ? NAS is decoding, and shield just have to display ? Shield is decoding, NAS being just providing the files for the shield to decode ? 2- In my current setup, is there some tips I should use to improve streaming ? 3- In my current setup, should I check somewhere if some sort of hardware acceleration is activated ? On the NAS ? The Shield ? 4- Would using linux server as a host for an emby container, NAS only for storage and the shield as a client improve the experience ? Once again thanks for the program, and the forum. I have a lot of informations available should I install emby docker on linux... Regards, F.
  21. I am using docker, i have the exact same set up with jellyfin, i just wanted to try emby as they have apps for my lg tv. If i go into my docker containers cli i can see all the films and tv shows, they just don't appear in my movie or tv show library on the emby gui when i have scanned them, the path is exactly the same as my existing jellyfin docker which works without issue. 22. Hello, Still quite new to using Emby with Docker. Below is the line from my container run for the configuration folder. The container creates the folder. I also tested prior by having the folders already created locally. However the container is still creating the folder within itself as far as I know. I also have a Sonarr setup where I'm using a similar line of code to have it put its configuration files in the below successfully. I just wanted to have all of my containers configuration files uniformly accessible in the same location incase I want to check logs outside of the respective services, and create backups without having to backup the entire container. Regards, Vivid
  23. After Recreating my (32bit) Pi4B / OMV / Docker / Portainer image to upgrade to Emby 4.6, the /app/emby/EmbyServer process was constantly restarting, with no access to the Emby Web interface. After a lot of web searching and several blind alleys the solution is here: https://docs.linuxserver.io/faq#my-host-is-incompatible-with-images-based-on-ubuntu-focal Manually installing libseccomp2_2.4.4-1~bpo10+1_armhf.deb (Option 2) worked for me, although I've subsequently added the Buster backports repo (Option 3) Hope this saves time and anxiety for someone....
  24. Hello Community, I was hoping someone else is having a similar problem and perhaps know the reason why after the second to last update of Emby, my collections vanished (both user created, and those generated by the box set plugin). At first I thought it had to be ownership/permissions had become muddled, but all other writes are allowed (updates to metadata, metadata refreshes on intervals, favourites) Here is a breakdown of my formerly working setup: Emby running on Docker - app folder in home directory to utilize the SSD benefit. OS: Fedora 33 - kept up to date daily Docker image is from Linuxserver.io (I chose that image to keep things in line with my other services, and ease of setup Permissions are defined in the docker-compose file for PGID:1000 (logged user) and GUID:973 (docker) however i've also tried chowning the permissions to 1000:1000 in both the .yaml file and filesystem in keeping with linuxserver.io's standard setups.. No joy as of yet.. I'm copying a backup of the emby appdata folder to backup in an attempt to start fresh, if that doesn't work i'll restore and hope that either emby, or the image provider figures it out. One thing worth noting, while I can't make a collection, the Boxset plugin CAN, and I can add and remove from them, if I try to create my own it circles out. I'd really prefer to keep my watched status. not so much for me, but my elderly parents (also my main reason for fighting with collections, so I can narrow down content for them) so I was wondering if the community can : 1) Diagnose what might have happened to either the config or the docker image (last two versions, first time lost all collections, I tried backing up the collections folder and starting new, no joy. or 2) If I create a new instance, which folders to keep so my 2 users keep their watched status. I don't mind rescanning metadata and tailoring the layout again. Any help would be appreciated, I hope I gave the community enough information, so as to not waste your time. Thank You, Ray.

TV Shows by date added wrong order?

My emby docker no longer displays tv shows by date added properly any more. Everything else seems fine. But I get a mix of old and new shows when sorting by date added. Any ideas what might cause this? @Happy2Play please move my posting to a new topic. Thanks.
