I would like to suggest a new feature, or to get some insight on how to achieve something similar if possible already. I schedule a few series, and would like to only sync sone of them selectively and automatically to individual targets. The only thing I found so far it's the ability to sync ALL new content, or individual show only when they complete recording. Ideally, I wish I could schedule a new series recording and decide upfront which subscribers will get synchronized, and at what quality. I also liked for tagging a show so it would be sent to a different category which will be setup for syncing new items, but no luck there either. Thank you for the help!

Duplicate Play Music/Media on mobile, auto-sync to phone
BloodyIron posted a topic in Feature Requests
When I go to play an album on my phone, it gets pretty jittering since it's streaming it, without much of a buffer. It also doesn't buffer/sync ahead, so this makes it very internet-sensitive. I would really love it, if that when I play an album it syncs the whole album, or whole "scope" of what I told it to play. Syncs it to the phone. This way as my internet fluctuates, it buffers a-head. If there is some way we can set (on the client/phone) how far a-head it syncs based on Wifi/Cellular I think that would be rad too. Say X number of songs if you're on Cellular, Y if you're on wifi (with the option for unlimited for either). As for other forms of multimedia, this may be helpful, but I'm not 100% sure how that would translate to video content... Thoughts? -
Hi everyone. Firstly I was to say a big thank you for getting offline working in ET. This is a feature I've been hope to use for a long long time. It always seemed to be 'sort of working', but always too much trouble, or never quite syncing correctly. I do a lot of travelling for my job, with frequent 5 hour flights. I normally just copy a bunch of videos on my SP4, but recently I decided to try offline again. I was really impressed how simply everything downloaded and played correctly. Thank you so much! This has made my long flights so much nicer, and I actually even got comments from people sitting next to me asking me what I was using. They were also really impressed when I spoke about Emby. Having said that... there are still a few things that are missing for offline mode to be feature complete. The biggest one is playstates. When I'm offline, there is no way to track playstates and watched status. This also means that when returning home I have to manually check what I watched when I was away. Missing images. Some of the show covers and poster images didn't save. Crashing when playing next episode. Every time I tried to play the next episode in a playlist the app would crash. The 'Downloaded Media" UI could use a bit of love. It seems that it the home screen hasn't really been thought out. I'm happy to do mock up of something if you like, but it just needs to be a simple with some nice collection images. Recent items needs to be limited and probably stacked. Update the download list when manually checking a watch status. Example: I set 'Vikings' to download the most recent 10 episodes. After they all copied over, I realised that I hadn't watched the most recent episode that was checked. I unchecked it in the Emby web client, but for the life of me I couldn't get that episode to download offline. The only way to do I was to cancel the sync (which deleted all 10 episodes) and download them all again. I think that was everything. This is such an amazing feature. Thank you all again. Cheers, Scott

Hi guys, so I've started trying to use sync more, hoping it would work a little better than last time I tried. Unfortunately I'm still struggling I currently I have 3 sync jobs I'm testing with 2 different devices, Android on a Pixel, and Windows UWP app on a Win10 HP Tablet. The Pixel synced ok the first few times, but now it won't automatically update once I watched the items. The Windows App will crash when I click the 'Download' button, so I added a sync job from the Web UI. That seems to work, but unfortunately it's just stuck at "Ready to Transfer" Server Log

Duplicate Offloading transcode/sync tasks to other machines
andrew0404 posted a topic in Feature Requests
Some server targets, such as the synology emby server are by design hosted on low powered hardware. Even if your server is running on decent hardware, there are use cases for this. I would like to have a way to offload and load balance transcoding tasks to other hardware. Building a transcoding client would allow this. load balancing could be done across the transcoding clients, and one or more could be co-hosted with the server to handle some transcoding there. It would allow availability of the server and clients needing transcoding. I saw a thread briefly discussing this from 2015, but can't find anything more recent, so I wanted to bring it up again. -
Has anyone else had the issue of Emby downloads on Android never fully completing successfully? I've been troubleshooting this on and off for almost a year now and would love to get to the bottom of it. On any 4G/LTE network or WiFi that is not my home network, Emby will constantly reset a download, never fully completing most of the time. At home, so long as I'm on my WiFi, it works like a charm. Halp!

Does any one have a clue why a initial sync is not performed to Trakt.TV it does not give me an error. Collection is exported to Trakt fine btw, but the watch status is the problem here. But if you see movie now it updates the watch status as i noticed. in the log it only says: 2017-07-09 16:39:08.4527 Debug Trakt: TraktResponse Added Movies: 0 2017-07-09 16:39:08.4527 Debug Trakt: TraktResponse Added Shows: 0 log.txt

I've started having a problem with my Emby 3.2.26.0 - I can't say 100% it started in 3.2.26.0 but that the version I have installed when when I first noticed I can no longer get my python sync script (source is available on GitHub) to register with Emby as a sync destination. I don't get any error messages, but when I try and use the WebUI to sync any media I just get told I have no sync providers installed and am directed to install FolderSync. Set up sync with Google Drive. Worked fine with a TV show and AppleTV so I synced a movie but the movie won't load in the AppleTV app. I select the thumbnail and get a white screen and spinning disc. For movies not sync'd the movie information page comes up immediately. Looking at the log it appears that the movie's file on Google Drive is not found (see below). I tried it with a different movie, only I checked to see if it worked on AppleTV before the sync. It did. Then I sync'd and now I just get the white screen with title and spinning disc. Any ideas? 2017-10-20 04:24:26.298 Error HttpServer: Error processing request *** Error Report *** Version: 3.2.33.0 Command line: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe -programdata Good Day All, I took a look around and didn't see anything that was specific so I thought I would ask. The most recent release of Emby includes folder and cloud sync options and I have seen things indicate that the client will stream from the cloud service (if a version is available there) however I was wondering if the server will serve from a folder sync the same way if a direct stream compatible version is available in a sync folder. Additionally I was just wondering how the decision is made to select one file over another (eg if the folder sync has a file that can be played by the web client however its bit rate is 4mbit/s however the client is set to 3mbit/s will the server still transcode the original file to match the 3mbit/s?) I also was wondering if the folder sync option clears out the oldest items after the limit is exceeded? My thought was that I could store the most recent 25 (ish) televisions shows in a format that is web client/chromecast friendly (since that is what most of my users employ) so that individuals that want to watch content that is recent wont have to deal with transcoding and I wont have to transcode the same file over and over if a few people watch the same new episode of something over the course of the first week. Thanks!

It would be great if it was possible to create custom profiles for Sync, with options like bitrate, output format, subtitle handling (keep them as they are, mux them into a container or hardsub selected one), audio streams (transcode all of them, not only default one). I am writing this, because syncing files with multiple audio/subtitle tracks could really use some improvement.

Evening all, I'm having audio sync problems when playing through ET's internal player (v2.5.16). I have 2 groups of media; Movies (MKVs from bluray rips) TV (MP4s from bluray/dvd rips) So far all movies have played perfectly. However every time i try to watch one of my TV shows I get 1 of a few different audio sync problems. For example; 1. when playing a Big Bang ep (mp4 from bluray) the audio either starts off perfectly or ever so slightly out but by the time the episode has finished the audio is completely out of sync. (I also had a video issue where movement was ghosting on screen but that seems to have gone after playing with the settings) 2. when playing a futurama ep (mp4 from dvd) the video instantly starts twice the speed to of the audio and continues throughout. If i play these through the web browser there is no problem. I have tried playing with all the ET audio and video settings but nothing seems to solve the problem. Currently running windows 7, my Media Centre is connected to my Onkyo AV reciever via hdmi and then to the tv. I know there are settings within the AV that can help with audio/video sync but seeing as the problem isn't consistent throughout all my media i can only leave these settings as they are. Before i go through and rebuild the whole PC from scratch can anyone shed some light if they have been able to fix this problem. Seems to be mp4 specific. Thanks Chris Before i go through and rebuild the whole PC from scratch can anyone shed some light if they have been able to fix this problem. Seems to be mp4 specific.

It looks like you don't currently have any apps that support offline downloading.

Hi, I get this message when attempting to click Sync on either my Emby for Android Mobile device or from a web browser on a PC. Here is the message & the list of devices. Is this feature not yet implemented or does it have a pre-requisite I am missing? -
Hi, since a few week I noticed my library is not syncing anymore: when new movies or episodes get added I have to perform a manual refresh to get the changes pushed through. I tried reinstalling after doing a library purge (erasing all emby addon settings) and also tried on a completely differnt system. Kodi is OSMC (latest build) Any help is appreciated !

I'm going to be going away without internet access next month, so I thought I'd try out the sync feature on my Windows tablet (proper Windows 10, not RT) and get a few tv shows and movies synced to it in lower quality (to save space on the small 32gb MicroSD card) than I could get by just copying the files directly. Plus, I'd rather use an Emby GUI as an interface while watching media. I've tried both "Sync" and "Download" in the dashboard web app, Emby Theater, and Ember; all with the same problems: Titles seem to get stuck on either queued, or ready to transfer. I've removed and restarted them multiple times, to no avail. the few times I had a notification telling me something completed downloading, when I went offline on my tablet, the files either weren't there, or wouldn't play (black screen). I've tried setting the sync/download folders to my tablets internal storage, as well as an external MicroSD card (preferable, as I don't have much internal storage). Also, I'm a little confused as to the difference between "Sync" and "Download". Which would be preferable in my case, where I'd like to conserve disk space for offline viewing? I don't care which app I use, whether it's Emby Theater, or Ember; as long as I can get it working by next month. Let me know if there's any more information that might help. I've removed all of my sync jobs, so I can start from a clean slate; hopefully with some guidance. Thanks, Patrick

Hi! I'm trying to sync some TV shows to my phone, but the sync jobs are always stuck at 50%. I've attached the android logs (11 of them?) and the server log. Skimming through the forums suggests its maybe an issue with write permissions - I've tried to change the download path a few times to random places, and have set it now back to the default Android/data/com.mb.android/Emby Sync Any help would be appreciated! Title pretty much says it all. If I select to sync an album it works fine till it hits a track that has an & in the filename, then it hangs for a long time on that and tries to resume the entire sync job till it hits the file again entering a endless loop. Server Version 3.2.13.0 Android 2.8.89 https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mqzw48mb0gsc4z9/AACH-hVQUPFpswgNxDshNA2Ka?dl=0 Hi, I have been enjoying sync for a while, in the last few days it has got stuck. I do have a massive flac playlist. I tried a few things myself i.e. clearing all data on the android app and rebooting the server. It then re-synced most of the playlist again but got stuck in the same place. A little help??

Hello, I just returned from a 2 month business trip and all my syncing was done on my smaller tablet. I was curious if sync for Android TV could be implemented since these newer TV devices are pretty easy to take along and connect in rooms while traveling. My use case: I have a Shield TV and it supports SD cards and external drive attachments. During my stay the hotel wifi was great for syncing (daytime and late night) but was too slow for real time streaming. As a "road warrior" these devices can be setup and left to sync while working or sleeping but also easily connected to TV's in hotels or friends houses etc. Syncing was a great way to keep up with shows and series that my wife and I watch and discuss but it would of been great to do this with the TV and not a smaller tablet screen. I know its not a common request but for those of us that travel and stay for work, these devices, coupled with sync would be a great companion. Thanks for any feedback!

I'm trying to sync a file to one of my devices, this one happens to be my iphone 6s. It doesn't show up under the device list. Only one device shows up, which is a for a different user on the system. I'm the admin on the system so not sure if that is why i can see it. Under devices on manage server section there's around a dozen or so devices, 5 of which are cell phones, but none show up as an option to sync media to. How do I add a device to be able to sync media to it? Can I limit who can sync to which device?

Emby Server - Playlist Video Channel (sync play like cytube)
lhops posted a topic in Feature Requests
I would like to see like to see TV channel type functionality similar to cytube. Where you can create a 'TV station' playlist from videos in your library and people can join in to watch the same stuff that everyone else is watching. Like cytube it doesn't have to be 100% in sync. On the surface it seems pretty simple, keep track of the current video in the playlist and where it would be in relationship to the start time. When a client connects start the client at that spot. When the video is done start the next one. If we could get that it would be great. I looked through the developer api's and I got pretty lost on how you could even start something like this. So it might not be as simple as the description. I think this would be a very good feature especially for premiere members since no other streaming platform I have seen has this kind of functionality. -
