Hello everyone, first post here so if anything should be edited just tell me. Anyway, I am running emby on a Manjaro linux machine, everything has been working out of the box until now. I am watching an episode of a series I already watched tons of episodes on emby without any problem, and suddenly the media reproduction stops towards the end. If I reload the episode it will keep stopping around the same time. Other episodes seem to be fine for now. I attach the log embyserver.txt, it seems to be an error with starting ffmpeg, but I don't really see the reason as everything has been working ok until now. I have seen some other older posts with similar issue and I tried reloading the whole series, rescanning the library each time, but nothing changed. Hope you can help, thanks in advance! UPDATE I managed to watch some other episodes and also some films, the problem happens suddenly towards the end of some apparently random episodes of just this series. It might have something to do with the files themselves but I cannot understand what since they all come from the same source. Log log-ffmpeg.txt

I just installed Emby yesterday after having stability issues with Plex liveTV. Setup is with a Hauppauge dual channel USB tuner connected to a Microsoft Surface. Everything was working great with liveTV so setup the DVR to record some shows. At 8pm both Chicago Med and Survivor started recording. When I checked the status of the recordings around 10:20pm I found that Chicago Med was only a partial recording of a minute 47 seconds. I looked at the log file and didn't see any errors, just that the recording stopped. Not sure what other logs to look at. From the server log the recording was started with the correct length, set it to record 1 minute additional after show end: 2019-11-20 20:00:07.507 Info LiveTV: Will record to E:\Emby\Chicago Med (2015)\Season 5\Chicago Med S05E09 I Can't Imagine the Future.ts for 60.874883375 minutes. Here is where is stops, but no errors that I can see. 2019-11-20 20:01:56.690 Info LiveTV: Recording completed to file E:\Emby\Chicago Med (2015)\Season 5\Chicago Med S05E09 I Can't Imagine the Future.ts 2019-11-20 20:01:56.690 Info LiveTV: Recording completed: E:\Emby\Chicago Med (2015)\Season 5\Chicago Med S05E09 I Can't Imagine the Future.ts 2019-11-20 20:01:56.690 Info MediaSourceManager: Live stream native_d8f0e8fc2bd98bf03584443fee3c1cc0_0f257e7cb95191e9932ee3294d0bfcdf consumer count is now 0 2019-11-20 20:01:56.690 Info MediaSourceManager: Closing live stream I checked the transcode file, attached, and didn't see any errors there either. Any help/guidance on what additional log files to look at?

OK. This is darn odd. Since the most recent update I am unable to connect to Emby from anywhere but on the server. I have an IOS app, multiple PCs with web browsers and two rokus. None of them can connect to the server, and we are all on the same network. I have tried by direct IP address http://192.168.2.160:8096 and I have tried it by remote DDNS names too. I can ping and connect to the server. I have rebooted every machine in the house, including network switches and routers. I can ping the server, map drives to the server, copy files to the server, even map a drive to the server and play the media file through another app, like Windows Media Player or VNC, but I cannot connect to the Emby service. Also, I can even play Emby through the web client (192.168.2.160) on the server, not the remote ddns address. I have verified the IP address, and as I said before I can map drives and play files and even can play files through Servio. Any ideas?

Hi all. I know this same question has been asked a number of times, but I have so far been unable to find a fix for my situation/setup. I recently purchased a lifetime membership for Emby based on using the software to watch movies/shows locally (through my chromecast) at home. My 'server' is a PC running Windows 10 and I have my media located on an external hdd. I am using a TP-Link Archer C3200 router. I have been trying for the last week or so to figure out how to access my library remotely with no luck. I have tried via the iOS app (sign in with Emby Connect and no dice) as well as on a couple different laptops. So far I have tried/looked into the following: - confirmed uPnP is enabled on my router - confirmed automatic port mapping is enabled on Emby - created inbound rules for Windows Firewall to allow ports 8096 and 8920 on my server - assigned Reserved IP address for my server - set up 'port forwarding' via virtual servers (external port = 8096; internal IP = 'Reserved IP address from above'; Internal Port = 8096; Protocol = TCP) (also did the same for 8920) - confirmed that 'allow remote connections to this Emby Server' is enabled - canyouseeme.org CANNOT see my service at ports 8096 or 8920 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have a problem with web interfaces, both in firefox and chrome on windows. In particular when I open emby from browser it often shows an older cached session, meaning that the next episodes to play and the one to be resumed are older. If I clean the cache, things get back to normal. Still, it happens all the time and I cannot keep clearing the cache every time, is there a way to prevent this from happening? Thanks, Alberto

Could we please have a mini player option for the Windows Theater Emby Theater app so that the app can have a much smaller mode (footprint), but still show the most important items, much like the iTunes MiniPlayer: Normal ... Track Title, Album Title, Album Artist, Play Progress Bar, Track Time, Track Time Left, Album Cover thumbnail, etc. When moused over ... Play/Pause, Next Track, Previous Track, Volume Control, Play List/History, Play Progress Bar interactive, etc. Thank you! James

So weird little issue. Chrome on Windows (maybe others but haven't tested) sometimes no audio. Quality set to auto emby will play the stream with no audio. A work around is to change the quality from auto to anything else then back to auto and it works. My thoughts are if emby in chrome could detect somehow that no audio is playing and then transcode the audio from the begining as opposed to having to change from auto to something else then back to auto to get the audio to fix itself? I may be wrong so any advice or solution would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mobile app doesnt work all the time hosted on Emby for Windows
Graxo posted a topic in General/Windows
Hi there, I dont know if this is the right sub-forum to post it.. but i couldnt find a 'Mobile App' category. If its wrong, im sorry, please dont close it, but move it.. So, the problem i have at the moment When the iOS App or Android App is used some content just doest play. When i check the logging it looks like it getting played, but the app just shows the loading icon for ever. I tryed to find it in the logging, but it looks like its playing. I am kinda out of options why this happens, it weird part is that it doesnt happens with every video file. Just some. Besides the content also taking a while to load, like 30-60 seconds at some point. What i find very weird. The locations of my video content is added through a network path, \\server\movies\ Attached on this post are the logs. I have Transcoding turned on Yes and all the my users are allowed to transcode. Here is how my setup looks like. Server: OS: Windows Server 2016 RAM: 16GB DDR4-2400Mhz CPU: 2x Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2620 v3 @ 2.40GHz GPU: Nvidia Quadro P2000 VM on a VMWare ESxi 6.7 Update host, this VM has 24 vCPU's. Storage: QNAP TS-419U CPU: Marvell 1.2GHz RAM: 512MB DDRII Disks: 12 TB HDDs (4 Disks,Raid-5) Network: 2Gbps (Trunking/LACP 2x 1gbps) Network: Switch: Netgear GS108Ev3 Cables: I only use CAT-5e. The only think i could think of is my out-dated NAS. Its the slowest device of my setup, but it should be fast enough. When i was running Plex there other issues ofcource, but not the issues i mentioned. I hope someone has some advice or recommendations i could try. Kind regards, Graxo- 5 replies

I have read as many of the related topics I could find but the answers did not help. A short time ago, all of my X265 encoded videos stopped casting to Chromecast. After selecting the Chromecast, and pressing play, it appears to start, then goes back to "Ready to Cast". I have tried Android app, iOS app, and browser app. I tried reducing the quality in the app settings (Playback>>Chromecast Streaming Quality) to no avail. I have tried several movies and the only ones that cannot play are X265. These videos were playing fine until recently (was there an upgrade to the server?). Have others experienced this? Emby Server: Version 4.0.3.0 Chromecast, 1st Generation Chromecast firmware: 1.32.144770 Emby for Chromecast 2.1.0 Emby for Android Mobile 3.0.42 I do not mind upgrading my Chromecast, but was hoping we could troubleshoot and understand the issue, as it just started happening recently. I have attached the video specs of one of the movies I have been trying to play (tried 10+ this morning to troubleshoot). I have also attached the transcoding log of one of the failures. I did edit the file for "THE NAME WAS CHANGED TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT". Any help? ffmpeg-transcode-8009045a-52ca-43d3-bb7f-ffc476c922e3_1.txt

Was doing some maintenance and found that the Vera plugin is constantly generating errors in the event handler. I only noticed this when looking at the log, as my system performance hasn't been degraded by it and the Vera plugin still appears to work normally for me. I've attached the logfile to see if @@chef or @@Luke had any ideas. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin, and can confirm that these errors disappeared when the plugin was removed, and reappeared upon reinstallation. embyserver-20190806-1142.txt

Good Morning, Last night I had multiple crashes in a very short period of time. I have sanitized and uploaded (5) different server logs from that period of time. Please let me know if there is any additional information that you would like. Essentially this would take place when trying to access content via kodi on an nvidia shield. the server would completely lock up and become unresponsive. even though the service would show that it was running and the icon is present the website is inaccessible. thank you for taking the time to review. bry

Hi everyone, I use only .strm files and everything works fine, so the files that are in the cloud are all .mp4 with AAC 2ch audio. Nothing to complain about. Among the files, I have since DVDScreen, 480p, 702p and 1080p and all of them play on clients. Now I intend to also have a 4K file and would like to know if the .strm will be played on the clients, stating that I turn off all transcoding options while keeping direct playback on. Thanks for any info.

Manually creating a boxset (or how to deal with the Animatrix)
psubsee2002 posted a topic in General/Windows
For my boxsets, I used to have everything organized the old MB2 way, with boxset folders and movies within the folders. For example: \Movies\Matrix Collection\The Animatrix (2003)\A Detective Story (2003)\A Detective Story.mkv \Movies\Matrix Collection\The Animatrix (2003)\Final Flight of the Osiris (2003)\Final Flight of the Osiris.mkv . . . \Movies\Matrix Collection\The Matrix (1999)\The Matrix.mkv \Movies\Matrix Collection\The Matrix Reloaded (2003)\The Matrix Reloaded.mkv \Movies\Matrix Collection\The Matrix Revolutions (2003)\The Matrix Revolutions.mkv This served my purposes, but obviously didn't work as well with MB3/Emby since the Movie view had all of the movies without the collection folders. This morning, I decided to remove all of the boxset folders, and use the "group into collections" feature to better organize my Movies folder (I was tired of looking at 12 consecutive Land Before Time movies when scrolling through my movie view). So far the results are exactly what I wanted to see but I have a couple of new problems. My main issue is more of a general problem - can you create custom collections of movies that don't necessarily have the same TMDB collection id (or any collection id)? I don't really see anything in the metadata manager to accomplish this, but I assume it is possible. For example, how do you organize the Animatrix when you have all 9 stories as individual media files? TMDB treats this as a single anthology movie, but they do have the individual stories as separate movie entries as well. The problem is TMDB doesn't include the individual stories it as part of a collection anymore, either as a standalone "Animatrix" collection or a part of the Matrix collection, so I just have 9 random movies spread out across my movie collections in no particular order. Ideally, I'd like to have an Animatrix boxset as a nested boxset within the Matrix collection, but I will settle for standalone Animatrix collection. I know I can create an "Animatrix [boxset]" folder and put the individual movies in there. That will create an entry in the collection view for the Animatrix movies, but they still show up in my "Movie" view as individual movies. I cannot figure a way to group them in the movie view as well, and I haven't figured out how to nest it inside of the Matrix collection either. A secondary issue (somewhat related) is adding a movie to an existing collection. For example, TMDB doesn't include the new "Minions" movie as part of the Despicable Me collection, and is inconsistent with the various shorts and mini-movies that are part of that franchise (some are part of the collection, some aren't). If I manually edited the TMDB collection id in the metadata manager so they were included in the Despicable Me collection, would it group everything together? And would it get overwritten the next time it refreshes the meta data (I don't see an option to lock the id fields). -
Emby Server for Windows was connecting to FireTV 4K Stick, but now it doesn't!!!
cyntrifical posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Okay, so before I used to use a Roku Ultimate TV box, which the Emby App and the windows Emby Server worked flawlessly, and emby server connects easily with both the iOS and Android smartphone apps, but recently we purchased an Amazon 4K FireTV Stick because they were on sale, and despite it having obvious advantages over Roku, the first time I tried connecting emby server to emby for firetv it drove me mad. I don't have enough know how to install root and ca certificates onto the FireTV, so after what seemed like 50 times of trying to use Emby Connect and manually typing the IP and port in, somehow it connected, and it stayed connected up until the last time I used it 3 nights ago. Then today I tried to start the emby app and once again "Error connecting to server", I've saved the most recent emby log of the connection event, so if anyone could help me figure this out I'd be forever in your debt! FireTV would be perfect if not for the issues connecting to emby server, because I use emby very often! Thanks in advance everybody! P.S. I attached the log as a txt below -
I made the installation of the emby server and tested it in my house, after some accesses I noticed that the system asks me for a single payment or a fixed payment for monthly payments. I wonder if with just such a single payment, the system lets me create multiple users on my local network and if there is any limitation on the number of users to be registered.

Hi, I have been using emby now for almost a year with no issue, this morning when i went to load content on my Roku showed: connection failed: Connection refused So i logged into the windows machine running the server and attempted to load the server GUI from the tray and received the following error localhost refused to connect. ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED I have attempted multiple server reboots and restarting the emby server. I have also tried removing the system.dll from the emby folder and then restarting the server, this actually brings up the gui with the start up wizard but as soon as i drop the old file back in it will not work. I have attached the log file. Cheers embyserver.txt

Anyone using any CCTV NVR software on Windows (10) ?? If so, what software do you use please. I have a couple of IP (PoE) cameras and I have been looking at iSpyConnect and Blue Iris, but I'm sure there are others. Doesn't have to be free software, as long as it is being kept up to date. Thanks.

I have Emby Server (version 3.3.1.0) running on a Windows 10 PC 64 bit (Previously running Windows 7 had same issues) and use Emby for Kodi (version 3.0.22) on a Fire TV and two Fire Sticks. The problem I have been having is the server goes to sleep while streaming a video but then prevents the server from sleeping after I shut down Kodi and put the Fire TV or Fire Sticks to sleep. The problem seemed to start happening sometime after version 3.2.35.0. I found some reported this problem but it was a few years ago so I figured I would start a new thread. Maybe it's just me and I am doing something wrong???

Emby Server 4.1.1.0 Update causing issues transcoding
AnomalousTech posted a topic in General/Windows
I have update from 4.0 and now I am having major issues with transcoding videos for playback to a Roku. Nothing in my setup changed other than the emby server update. I have tried to look at the logs but am unable to make heads or tails of them as I am not use to looking at these sorts of logs. Information about my Emby setup Base is Windows 2012 Server R2 1 x 1TB Hard drive 1x 5TB Hard Drive Cache is currently set to a USB3.0 Flash drive (this is a trial item. Was set to a folder on the 1TB hard drive prior.) Transcoding cache is set to a RAM disk. As the transcoding space is temporary and should be quick access I created a RAM disk on my server for the purpose of this. Any logs that would be needed please let me know. If others are experiencing this as well I would like to know. If there is anyway I can rollback my Emby Server version that would be helpful as well.- 7 replies

During troubleshooting, I returned the "system" directory back to 4.1.0.26 and restarted Emby. That is my current state with the problems reported above. ffmpeg-transcode-ac14525d-74ce-4093-b3b0-f2fadb2528f5_1.txt

My experience with Emby on Windows desktop. UWP Emby Theater: 1. Doesn't support client side rendering of graphical subtitles formats hence forces transcoding; 2. Playback of HEVC 8 bit encoded files doesn't start on my Windows 10 PC running Skylake processor with Intel HD Graphics that supports HEVC 8 bit hardware accelerated decoding; 3. I've yet to test it but I'm afraid it might not have full codec support, I'm not sure if this is due to any limitations applied to UWP applications. Emby Theater downloaded from website: 1. Playback of HEVC 8 bit encoded files doesn't start on my Windows 10 PC running Intel Skylake i3-6098p processor with Intel HD510 Graphics that supports HEVC 8 bit hardware accelerated decoding, have to set using external player in Emby Theater; however plays H.264 files fine; 2. When tested on two legacy AMD integrated graphics (pre GCN arch) Windows 10 machines, playback control overlay doesn't show; 3. Works perfectly on my Coffee Lake powered Windows 10 machine with Nvidia graphics that supports HEVC 10 bit hardware accelerated decoding. Web app: codec/container support vary from browser to browser, and doesn't support graphical subtitle formats, although this is expected behavior. Kodi with Embycon plugin: doesn't list custom video library at all i.e. "downloads", "home video", etc. So, the overall experience on the desktop is not quite what I expected. And no, I'm not providing server logs, client logs, file samples since these issues are more than what I feel like dealing with, I'm writing this so that maybe the developers can re-think the desktop app design.

I have been an Emby user since MediaBrowser. I loved and still love how it works with Windows Media Center on Windows 7. My current media server is set up on Windows 7, and I use WMC on my main TV that's hooked to the sever, and a few other TVs in the house. I guess I'm just looking for some advise on what to do now that support for Windows 7 is ending. I'm just so used to the layout of Windows Media Center, and the flawless execution between it and my Windows 7 server set up, that I'm anxious about how to make sure things work for me once Windows 7 is no longer a good solution. Does anyone else on here still use 7 and WMC? Did you used to use it and have moved on to something new and you still like it? I love the LiveTV of WMC. I know Emby now has LiveTV options...but I think I need to buy a specific tuner for that? Is Windows 10 my only option with Theater? What about Linux server? So...yeah...bit of a ramble. I guess I'm just looking for any suggestions or advise for someone who has used a Windows 7 setup through Windows Media Center since original Mediabrowser. The future and change is scary...please hold my hand and help me through it!

Hi, Is it possible to use CSS code to change the background color and the length of time the text message sent to the user's device is logged in? I understand that the time is too short for longer messages and the background is confused with the caption. I would like to have a lighter background color, maybe in red or yellow color. Thanks for any tip.

Hi all, I hope there is someone that can help me. I just installed Emby Server 3.5.3 on a Windows 2012 server. All seems to work fine except streaming to a Chromecast. When selecting a Chromecast on my iPhone it just displays "Ready to cast" and then nothing happens. In the attached EmbyServer log file I started to stream to my Chromecast 20:44 (see also below). For further info, I have also attached two ffmpeg log files. 2018-12-20 20:44:40.496 Info HttpServer: HTTP Response 204 to 10.0.0.63.
