Hi, Yesterday I got my mom's old iPad (4th gen), since she got a new one. It's on iOS 10 and Emby v1.6.7. I don't see an option anywhere to download content for offline viewing. I'm a premiere user and really like this feature on my other devices (non-Apple), I would like my to view my content offline while I'm travelling by train since internet is spotty then. Is this a known problem, if so why?

Hi, I've just purchased pro version of Emby in trial to see if I could replace Plex with Emby. But my first test was not really a success. I've tried to sync some content on my iPad in original but the transfer never begin (stay at 0%). The same happened on my iPhone. Also I've tried to do it with transcoding and my first impression is that's quite long and after that nothing happen neither. Bot of my devices are in latest version of iOS. Is there something to do in order to make it works ? Thanks.

Hi, The music sync performance never has been the best of the world, but it wasn't bad. It's sadly to say that since the last version the performance is horrible. Sorry devs, but I had to say it. I love Emby, but the main reasons to migrate my Plex Server was the music sync. I have to clarify that Plex Server is a fucking nightmare with offline music and Emby is the better option to do this actually. So, I have a list with the main problems with offline music: Not real sync. When Android App die and start again, songs download several times and is necessary to use third party software to clean duplicate files to save storage. When you try to sync playlist or collection with so many songs (500 or more is enough to start the party xD), server and client (android app) goes crazy/slow. Many times, sync process is blocked by a single song. My workaround is edit sync object, delete the blocked song and wait server refresh that song again to include in sync object. After this, sync process start again in some moment, not immediately. I have to clarify that my devices (server and phone) are very powerful: Phone: OnePlus6 (8GB RAM, 8 cores, 128GB internal storage) Server:Dedicated server (bare-metal) in professional hosting. Debian 9 Intel® Xeon® CPU W3520 @ 2.67GHz 16GB RAM Emby is running using Docker (18.06.1~ce~3-0~debian) Attaching my personal sync objects. As always, thank for your support.

I usually create Playlists on desktop and Sync them to my phone. But, I can't seem to figure out how to set the location of the music anymore. I used to Sync the music and use a different music player like Poweramp to play the music in that folder. If I go to my built in Download Manager, that Emby seems to use for downloading the songs now. I can't get any of the files to play in other apps. Poweramp tries to open them from the Download manager and just tells me it can't find the file. I am using a Pixel 2 XL - On latest update of Pie System reports Emby as being 3.0.21 Attached a screenshot of what happens when I tried to select download location.

Hello, I am trying to have multiple computers running their own emby server and I want to have a singular data source on some things like amazon s3, google drive or dropbox where all the media files will be located. What I plan to do is to update the files in Dropbox and then trigger the update on emby servers remotely so that they can get the newer files and store them locally. Is there a inbuilt way to do this? The only alternative I think is to develop a separate web app that periodically that runs along these emby servers that will copy data from remote(dropbox) to local and then trigger a library rescan. I am fairly new to emby so please forgive me for any mistakes.

Hi! I have some collections (just music) with two different kind of objects, in this case just "Artists" and "Albums". When sync (Android) those objects one by one the sync works great, but if I try sync the collection object don't work properly. Sometimes say "failed" or another times stay in "transfering" state forever. Sync music collections is officially supported? My emby server version: 3.3.1.15 beta Thx a lot!

I have a trip coming this week and wanted to sync a couple of movies on my 2-in-1 Samsung TabPro S and have a few issues I've been seeing in the log. Attempting to sync a DVD of Fifth Element produces the following in the log: Unknown encoder 'mpeg2video' Also, attempting to sync a Blu-Ray rip of The Dark Knight says the same except the encoder is "vc1". My server is Linux Mint (planning to go full Ubuntu Server very soon) which is based on Ubuntu 14.x. I have never had any issues with my server so far, BTW, so this is very out of character. I rip my movies using a paid version of MakeMKV. The movies will stream fine if just playing even from the Windows 10 app. The issue seems to be with sync only. Also, in trying to sync other movies some of them are fine but others have a really, really long duration (like thousands of hours) making seeking impossible. The movie will play fine but the duration is WAY out of whack. Has anyone else experienced this? I didn't attach logs right now because I was just wondering if this is a known issue already (?). Any help would be appreciated.

I would like to have the ability to sync a collection. This could be a collection of movies or shows, but since shows already has this functionality, mostly for movies. It should have the same options as show, such as only unwatched (where it deletes watched) and limit the items.

Hey everyone, first post here, hoping to get some help with this issue. Getting ready to pull the trigger on Emby Premier as I have been way happier with it over Plex aside from a single issue I have ran across (below). So currently for whatever reason my audio is consistently always out of sync with my video on my Emby for Android app. Although when playing back the same files on a PC through the web client it's perfectly in sync. The audio happens just before the video on the Android apps though, it's consistent, doesn't change when paused/unpaused or anything like that, it's almost exactly the same amount of out of sync. I've been browsing this topic for about 3 days now trying to find a solution and can't figure it out. Below is a list of stuff I have tried so far. Also keep in mind I haven't tried any other apps yet (don't easily have the ability too) such as Roku and the like so maybe it's an app thing and not just Android only. -Restart server (both Emby server, and the physical server) -Restart phones -Try other phones -Try local network and 4G LTE -Tried direct playback rather than transcoding Other Details: -Files are all .mp4 -Server is Windows 10 -PC Playback (which works fine) is Windows 10 -Android version is Oreo -Phones are BlackBerry Key2, and Samsung Galaxy S8+ -Files are perfectly in sync when played on the server directly (via VLC) -System specs (that matter) of the server are AMD Threadripper 1950X 16 Cores, 64GB of RAM, and SLI GTX 1080tis, so I don't think lack of power could possible be the issue -LAN is all through Google Wifi, doubt this would matter as one PC plays back through wifi fine so it's not like a wifi issue -Footage is in varying resolutions from 1080p to 4K all with the same issue If anyone here has any other ideas that would be great.

Hi, I'm an Asian and I love to watch Hollywood movies but when I don't understand them most of the time, I download an audio track in my native language and play it with Hollywood and English movies simultaneously to enjoy it. I do not download dual audio movies because I find local encoders having much worse picture quality. There are my websites that provide us with audio tracks of Hollywood movies and many media player are capable of playing external audios like: VLC MPC Kodi (video and external audio file name must be same to be detected and played along) I've used Plex and found it really frustrating because it cannot perform this task, neither it has parental controls (free), so I switched to Kodi but it also has no greater features than EMBY! I installed it today and updated all my libraries, I really loved it and want to use it as my Media Server, its Combo with Kodi is really awesome, I don't like to watch movies in Web Browsers so used its Plugin for Kodi, Now everything is fine except: Emby lacking ability to play an external audio. Please please please introduce this feature. Not only for Web player but it must work with Kodi Add-on so there should be an option in Kodi to play external audio if using Emby Plugin and server in it. I shall be very very thankful too you. I really found Emby best of all but if it your team design an Emby Media Player for desktop PC, it would be really really great. Thank you.

Improvement - Transfer cover images when transcoding offline music
evil_beast666 posted a topic in General/Windows
Hi! This is simple to explain, so when I sync some music keeping the "original" bitrate the cover images show in my favorite android player, but when I need to do transconding changing the bitrate (FLAC size is the reason) the cover images don't keeping into the file sadly :'( Is possible improve this? Thanks in advance. -
Hello dear community, I just finished to sync an audio book to my android device. Both in the server console and on my device it says the download is finished and the data is verifyably on my device in the specified folder. My downloaded music is available under the music tab, but there is no audio book tab and the audio book isn't even to be found under the music category, making it impossible to be accessed. Does anybody have a solution? greetings Hefti

After the latest update to emby, the playstate of episodes and movies are not updated in kodi. After watching a video the sync process runs, but the state of the video are not marked as watched. As far as i figured this started happening after the latest update to emby. The playstate is registred right in Emby itself, and in i run a manual sync from the kodi plugin, the state will be updated. Anyone know what could be the cause of this? Hey all. I'm having a problem with syncing to an android tablet. First, its actually a fire tablet that I've sideloaded the emby app onto. Second, and the biggest problem, is that the server doesn't appear to do any conversion, even though in the interface I choose the 4mbps option. The original file is always copied. I've attached what I think is the relevant portion of the log file. It doesn't seem that anyone else appears to be having this problem, so I wonder if I'm just doing something wrong. Thanks. Hi all, I've been using emby for a while now and one of my use cases was transferring music onto my phone. Since upgrading to 3.4.1.0 some of the files no longer transfer. They just remain "Transferring" in the Sync view and show up in the sync notification on Android in a loop. It's always the same files (some 20 out of 3000) as if the server couldn't read them. The only error I could find: 2018-07-05 09:01:34.049 Error App: Error sending web socket message SyncJobs *** Error Report *** Version: 3.4.1.0 Command line: /opt/emby-server/system/EmbyServer.dll -programdata /var/lib/emby -ffmpeg /opt/emby-server/bin/ffmpeg -ffprobe /opt/emby-server/bin/ffprobe -restartexitcode 3 -updatepackage emby-server-deb_{version}_amd64.deb Operating system: Unix 3.14.1.64 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True User Interactive: True Processor count: 24 Program data path: /var/lib/emby Application directory: /opt/emby-server/system System.FormatException: Guid should contain 32 digits with 4 dashes (xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx). at System.Guid.GuidResult.SetFailure(ParseFailureKind failure, String failureMessageID, Object failureMessageFormatArgument, String failureArgumentName, Exception innerException) at System.Guid.TryParseGuidWithNoStyle(String guidString, GuidResult& result) at System.Guid.TryParseGuid(String g, GuidStyles flags, GuidResult& result) at System.Guid..ctor(String g) at Emby.Server.Implementations.Library.UserManager.GetUserById(String id) at Emby.Server.Sync.SyncRepository.GetJobs(SyncJobQuery query) at Emby.Server.Sync.SyncManager.GetJobs(SyncJobQuery query) at Emby.Server.Sync.Api.SyncJobsWebSocketListener.GetDataToSend(WebSocketListenerState state, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at MediaBrowser.Controller.Net.BasePeriodicWebSocketListener`2.<SendData>d__18.MoveNext() System.FormatException at System.Guid.GuidResult.SetFailure(ParseFailureKind failure, String failureMessageID, Object failureMessageFormatArgument, String failureArgumentName, Exception innerException) at System.Guid.TryParseGuidWithNoStyle(String guidString, GuidResult& result) at System.Guid.TryParseGuid(String g, GuidStyles flags, GuidResult& result) at System.Guid..ctor(String g) at Emby.Server.Implementations.Library.UserManager.GetUserById(String id) at Emby.Server.Sync.SyncRepository.GetJobs(SyncJobQuery query) at Emby.Server.Sync.SyncManager.GetJobs(SyncJobQuery query) at Emby.Server.Sync.Api.SyncJobsWebSocketListener.GetDataToSend(WebSocketListenerState state, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at MediaBrowser.Controller.Net.BasePeriodicWebSocketListener`2.<SendData>d__18.MoveNext() Any idea what could be happening? Good evening I've recently tried Emby having become a little disillusioned with Plex. I've set up Emby to use my Dropbox account for syncing. Emby appears to convert the file into the selected quality but then it becomes stuck with the dashboard showing a running task of 'Cloud & Folder Sync' which goes no further than 3%. At the same time, the sync section of Emby shows the synced item as 'Ready to transfer'. I've tried cancelling the sync task and setting this up again but it doesn't change anything. Thanks for any help!

Are there configurable settings somewhere for the new convert feature? I've been experimenting with that feature for converting my recorded TV shows, and I'm wondering if there are any settings buried anywhere outside of selecting either "Universal Mobile" or "Universal TV" from the options menu. Also, I've tried using both the "Universal Mobile" and "Universal TV" option, and the encodes come out identical, so I'm not sure what this selection is doing. Thanks.

I have 3 issues with syncing: - 1: Syncing movies sometimes fails completely and never moves past 0%. and sometimes it gets to "ready to transfer" but never starts the transfer despite my device being on wifi. - 2: The syncing progress bar does not work correctly. on the server it's always at 0% until it is finished. on the app it's always at 0% as well until it finishes. the drop down menu on the phone however seems to record the progress correctly. - 3: When a Movie is synced the subtitles won't work. I'd like to either download all the subtitle streams or one that I choose. It would also be nice to be able to watch wit any subtitle stream if I can connect to the server. atm I have to delete the synced movie in order to make subtitles work at all. I have no idea of where to start fixing this. any hints are welcome.

I installed the latest beta and it may be a coincidence but emby has been filling a sync folder with 10GB of something. This folder is on my root disk which is not meant to hold data and is only 32GB. I looked through the server management pages and could not find anywhere to set this folder's location. I saw a management section called Download and Sync. It had one strange entry with thousands of something. I deleted that entry and hopefully my problem will go away. What does Download and Sync mean? I do all my downloading myself and put the downloads in my media folders.

Since a couple of weeks I've noticed that Trakt doesn't sync any playback progress between my two devices anymore. It used to work perfectly and having changed nothing it suddenly stopped working. Which makes me think it's plug-in related. Could anyone test and verify this? I've tried everything (updating add-ons, updating Kodi, uninstalling/reinstalling Trakt plug-in, et cetera). I would love to get this to work again so any help would be greatly appreciated! (Edit: the progress does show up in the Emby app itself, it just doesn't seem to load on the devices, restarting the entire video every time instead of resuming).

[FIXED in version 3.4.0.1] Problems with transcoding offline music
evil_beast666 posted a topic in General/Windows
Good afternoon, first of all, congratulate yourself for your good work. Quick context: My library has mp3, flac and some m4a. When I synchronize mp3 I do not use transcoding, but the flac files use a lot of space on my phone and I need to convert them to mp3. Up to here everything is correct. I have the problem when I need to set the bitrate to 320Kbps. I have tried several different test and the maximum bitrate I get is 192Kbps. These are the details of the flac that I used to test: Input #0, flac, from '01 - Lone Digger.flac': Metadata: ALBUM : <I°_°I> ARTIST : Caravan Palace BPM : 122.9 DATE : 2015 GENRE : Electro Swing RATING : 5 TITLE : Lone Digger track : 01 Duration: 00:03:49.50, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 891 kb/s Stream #0:0: Audio: flac, 44100 Hz, stereo, s16 Stream #0:1: Video: mjpeg, yuvj444p(pc, bt470bg/unknown/unknown), 600x600 [SAR 300:300 DAR 1:1], 90k tbr, 90k tbn, 90k tbc Metadata: comment : Cover (front) Test 1 (Quality: Custom, Bitrate: 0.1): 2018-03-25 16:00:09.295 Info App: Bitrate exceeds DirectStream limit: media bitrate: 891336, max bitrate: 100000 2018-03-25 16:00:09.295 Info App: Bitrate exceeds DirectPlay limit: media bitrate: 891336, max bitrate: 100000 2018-03-25 16:00:09.297 Info TaskManager: Queueing task SyncConvertScheduledTask 2018-03-25 16:00:09.297 Info TaskManager: Executing Convert media 2018-03-25 16:00:09.298 Info HttpServer: HTTP Response 200 to x.x.x.x. The movie is .mkv container with internal subtitle tracks (not burned into the movie). Would I be able to "burn" them into the synced copy through Emby sync? If not, would I need to create an external subtitle file for it to be used with the synced copy? Would I need to store it in both the synced location and the original location, or just the original location? Thanks.
