Hello, My Emby server has been running smoothly for about a month now and I have had no problems. Yesterday evening, for no apparant reason, I stopped being able to stream any TV shows or Movies. I first noticed this on the server itself when I tried to play a show while working at another computer. The show page loaded, then when I clicked 'play' on the episode Emby loaded the playback screen with the loading wheel. After a few seconds, I got an error stating "No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details." I am not sure what this means. I have confirmed that the bitrate limit field in the settings is blank. There was no one else streaming anything at that time. I replicated the problem on my phone (over LAN and then WAN). I restarted the emby server, same error. I restarted my windows PC and applied windows updates and same error. I have tried to use a couple of different accounts on a couple of devices and have not been able to play anything back. Error logs from my last attempt attached. Hello, I'm attempting to listen to my audiobooks on my server via the Android app, and there doesn't seem to be a "resume from..." playback option? When I load the file in a web browser it has the resume playback as the first option, but when I select it on the Emby android app the only options available are Play, which starts from the beginning each time. How do I get it to resume playback from where I left off on the app?

Hi, it would be very nice if you could change 1-2 things 1. when a video is playing and OSD is shown pressing the Back-Button should make the OSD disappear but actually the whole video stops playing and I fall back to the menu screen. same behavior as netflix, amazon prime video or maxdome would very nice ;-) This should not be a big thing I think. 2. actually it's not possible to access the progress bar of a movie with a normal remote. it's only possible to click on the progress bar and jump to a special timestamp of the movie if you have a "magic remote" with some kind of mouse integrated. It would be very nice to get the possibillity to access the progress bar by pressing the up-button once the osd is visible and then jump within the movie by pressing left or right buttons on the remote (maybe in 5 or 10 min steps) because again... same behavior as netflix, amazon prime video or maxdome would very nice ;-) thanx and keep on doing your great work! :-)

I'm honestly not sure how to set up the technical specs so its possibly I just don't have something set up correctly but I constantly experience lag issues with larger file movies. This usually only happens with large (20G+) files. Most of these are 4K so I'm thinking thats the issue but I have no idea how to fix this. Any help is appreciated. Hi @@Luke, I have a problem with subtitles which can't be show anymore after to pause the episode, leave the tab (2 hours after) and try to open it again just after in chrome. I already try with and without encode subtitles on the fly. I uncheck for the moment this option and it's always bug so it's not the problem. I tried to turn off subtitle. Leave and open again the emby tab, start an episode, select my subtitles but same problem Every users on my emby server get the same issue. We're using Chrome browser. With Kodi (emby plugin) no issue. If you need info, I will try to send you even if I don't see anything wrong in the logs... I will try to give you the way to reproduce it: 1) Open chrome, embyweb and load a 1080p Multi file in mkv (it's my case, but I don't think the quality is really important). 2) look it for example, half of the episode. Click on pause. Lets the episode and the tab open on chrome. 2 hours in my case. (I think THIS is important, and let's the episode in the browser will create the issue after) BTW: I don't know if it's normal and link but when I look the admin dashboard, I can see during this 2 hours, the red line (throttle) increases little by little like 0.1% every 10 seconds, so after 1h30, the line is complete ... Not sure it's a normal behavior, anyway. 3) You click on play button, everything is fine, I look 5min like that, I get my subtitles, I'm happy 4) I close the emby tab, in other words, the episode that i watched 5) THE PROBLEM I open again embyweb, try to click on "continue" the episode. It starts from 27min. It's perfect BUT no subtitle at all. If I try to start again from the begin, I get subtitles on the first seconds, if I skip 2min, 30min ect, no subtitle ever . So I try to look 5min without skip anything from the begin and after 2min36, subtitles desapears... and I don't get it anymore. It's crazy I never get this problem with old version. I am new to Emby, and I am having a reoccurring issue where my playback of a show (nightly local news) is pixilating and freezing. This has happened 2 nights in a row at nearly the same time during the recording. It is still currently recording while I am watching, and I have not gotten to live yet (35 minute show and freezing around 20 minutes). This also has happened at least 3 times in the week and half I have been using Emby (switched from Plex due to problems they have not fixed to playback during recording that has been going on for months). I have had a few successful playbacks during recording, but the wife gets quite frustrated when we cannot get through the news, hopefully you can feel my pain. We are using FireTv. However, I just tried to play last nights recording on my computer and it freezes in the same place. I am pasting a snippet of the log below, the errors just keep going. Could I have a setting wrong, or??? I am not even sure what to try. I can't really seem to find a definitive guide on configuring my system. Which is a Synology DS918+ and is up to date, I have tons of storage (only using 10%), but I have not added any m.2 cache to the system (it is stock other than expanded hd space). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (I have searched and can't find any topics that seem to relate, so I hope it is something I can adjust on my end to fix it). Hi With some episodes like this one: https://gofile.io/?c=NoX0w9 - It's really slow to read it, take 30 secondes before to start and if you move inside the movie, again, the timing take 15 / 30 secondes. Is it possible to avoid this waiting time ? Thank you in advance Regards

Bit of a strange thing happening. Specials are organized in season 0 or season 00 folders. I don't know when the issue started but I have specials that play after each season is finished playing, even though they are set to display/play only in the season aired. For example: Stargate SG-1 The Ark of Truth(S00E07) and Continuum(S00E08) are both displayed in Season 10 as Episodes 21 and 22 (correctly) and not in any of the other seasons. Yet they play after the end of each of the 10 seasons. I had "old" nfo files for each and deleted/refreshed the metadata, completed a full scan of the libraries without any change. Checked a couple of other series, same problem. Have I got a setting wrong? or am I missing something? Is this a bug? This used to work as I would expect - Which is the special would play during the correct season and between the correct episodes. Hello, I just started ripping my Blue-Ray discs and I tested one of the two I ripped but it freezes a minute into playing in the browser at the same place every time and about 30 minutes into playing on the Apple TV (this was after a reboot of the server). The file is .MKV and is 26.6 GB and after a reboot and a fresh install of EMBY server I was able to play it all the way through, however another movie that is ~36 GB I press play and it will play for a few seconds and then stop and say "Opps, something when wrong. Document not found on stack." Although, when it is on the video menu the sound will start to play through the movie with no video. When I play that same video in the browser it will play for a few seconds longer. I am running EMBY Server 4.1.1.0 on FreeNAS-11.2-U5 and I have 64 GB of ECC Ram. I don't have any problem playing the ripped DVDs. Thanks in advance for any help. Chad

I just purchased Gran Torino (2008) on blu ray, and ripped the movie to my server as a .mkv file using MakeMKV. The file plays without issue on VLC media player. When I try to play the movie on Emby, however, the server freezes up. I originally tried playing the movie on the Roku app (beta version and regular), and the Retrieving purple bar would fill about 1/3 of the way and then just hang forever (I let it go about 5 minutes). So I thought it might be the Emby Roku app, so I tried again with the Chrome browser web app, and the say thing happened. Only instead of the purple bar, the web app has a spinning circle that just goes on and on. I thought there might be something wrong with the file, so I deleted the entire folder, emptied the recycle bin, and rebooted the computer. Then ripped the file again. No difference. Hello folks, Need a little help with issues on video playback. I'm running Emby on Windows 10 with the client/server on the same machine. Emby version 3.2.12.0 with the default installation and I run it on Chrome. I'm using the standard Windows paths (not UNC) for file access. I have some videos that were ripped at 29.97fps and they stream fine to my TV (via chromecast) and play fine locally with the Emby client. Unfortunately the quality of the rips are bad so I found some replacements that have good video quality that play at 25fps. Unfortunately these are choppy when I stream them to my TV. They're even worse when I try to play them locally on my laptop with the Emby client. They're fine playing them locally with VLC. I don't have anything else installed at the moment that I can test streaming. I could re-install Plex to test streaming if needed or maybe the VideoCast extension I used to have installed for Chrome. I'm not sure what's going on or what I need to look at in my Emby config. Maybe it's not even the framerate that's the issue but something else? I have attached the media info of both files. I can attach the logs if needed. I read another post that said if the client and server were on the same machine then UNC isn't needed and to be honest I haven't had this issue before so it's not like this is a chronic issue with most of my videos. HI Long time user, first time poster. First off I love Emby and have been using it for many years but I've had one bug that I just can't figure out. Whenever we use the shuffle feature for a TV series the first episode will play perfect and the remaining episodes will be faded. It looks as though the next episode overlay is always on. I've turned off themes and the next episode info option but still the issue remains. Ever since updating to version 4 (on 4.0.3.0 currently), I've been having some playback issues (freezing) on almost everything I play. This happens on two separate servers in two separate locations streaming to different types of devices. One server runs on Windows 7 and streams to a Roku+ streaming stick. The other runs on Windows 10 and streams to a Shield TV. Both servers have been experiencing the problem only since version 4 and have worked flawlessly for 2 years prior without a single freeze. I currently only have logs saved for one of the servers which I've uploaded below. In the first log while watching Jaws, there was one freeze which I was able to get past by simply pressing pause and then un-pause on the remote. In the second log while watching Slumdog Millionaire, it froze about 20-30 mins into the movie. I tried pause/un-pause again which resumed the movie. However, it froze again shortly after and would continue to do so until I just got frustrated and stopped watching the movie. In the third log while watching Skyfall, playback froze about 1 hour and 30 mins in. I was able to resolve by pausing/unpausing and it didn't freeze again. It's at the point now where I don't even want to watch something because I'm constantly thinking that it will freeze (which it does 80% of the time it seems) and it takes away from the enjoyment of watching. Hey, in the past i had my emby server on a NUC, now its switched back on my DS218+. For some reason i miss the feature "resume playback" of my audiobooks or music. i had this working on my NUC and i got single file audiobooks (length about 8hrs xD) so resume playback is essential to use emby for that. how can i enable this? i dont see any option right away, but could be blindness Ok, i found the actual problem. first of all, for whatever reason i needed to rearrange the librarys to get the feature working.i got audiobooks with files that go something like 8-14hrs ... there must be a minimum % of playback before the file is listed to make resume possible or something, if i move forward to the middle of the file, its listed. if its played like 13min its not listed. can somebody tell me more about this? wouldbe great to change that because if i start listening to a file and just drive to work (10minutes away) i cant resume . thanks in advance using latest Server for Synology

Hello all, Has anyone else run into issues with playback when off your local network? I have had users reporting this recently (I believe only since updating to server v4.x) and have not had any luck in resolving it, I have tried adjusting the transcoding options, and even turning it off. I have also had the users try using much lower quality settings on their end. It all made no difference. Users are trying to playback files using various methods and it is always them same. While on my LAN, everything runs smooth as butter though. Would love to get some help trying to troubleshoot this. Thanks! N

My issue is inconsistency with playback, sometimes it's fine for a whole episode playing flawlessly, others for 15-20mins playing how it should then it hangs up and other times it hangs up immediately before playing then stopping and playing repeatedly. This is understandably frustrating as I just switched over from Plex and purchased the Lifetime membership for Emby. (I'm all in!) All my testing has been done on a series of episodes and a movie with the originating format being MKV. Local testing has been done using an X-Box and remote testing has been done using the Nvidia Shield. My first thought was that it had to do with transcoding but as the Emby dash board says it's all Direct Playing, I have no idea why it's having such issues. The testing was done on the x-box attempting to play Angry Birds which is an MKV also tested on Nvidia shield with the same stopping issues. The primary remote testing was done on Brooklyn 99 with the same inconsistent results. I even used the convert feature in Emby and converted the Brooklyn 99 episodes all to MP4 and it still has the exact same issues. First off my server stats are as follows; Gigabyte MW50-SVO Intel Xeon E5 v3 3.5Ghz Nvidia Quadro P2000 (for hardware accelerated transcoding) 32GB RAM Server Raids 2x Intel Hardware RAID 5s both 4x 8TB Firewolfs (one for TV shows and one for Movies) Internet up and download are over FIOS getting 500mbps up and down The server is located remotely. I'm using an Nvidia Shield as my playback device. Hey, Since the intermediate "emby-loading.mp4" switch all my video playback seems to be looping without me asking for it. The same item will play over and over again. "Play next" is disabled, if I go to the play queue it shows repeat being disabled, it seems the plugin is just looping the playback around. Please find attached a plugin debug log. A few days ago, I uninstalled and then reinstalled Emby Server because of some minor problems. Since then, I cannot playback or record from the dashboard. I can use the guide and do all server functions, but cannot playback. When I choose a live program, I get a black screen with "circling." Playback and recordingworks fine from Emby Theater. So I've been using Emby off and on for a while now on my Android TV, for the past several months I've been using it as my only source after finally abandoning Plex. The problem is, recently my anime (mkv files) no longer have time controls, like skipping ahead, rewind, resume from xx:xx, etc. My regular movies and TV recordings (mp4,avi,etc) have no issues. I've tested these same anime episodes on my phone app (Android) and via the browser and the time controls all work without issue, it's only the TV. On the TV I switched it to using external player (VLC) and I can skip, pause, resume, rewind etc without issue as well. What happened to the TV app? The server and TV both update automatically to the newest build/apps when available; is the TV build broken or something? How can I fix this?

Hi, I am running Roku Emby version 3.0.134. I am running Emby Server version 4.0.2.0. I am running the Emby app on iOS version 1.7.4. I am a premiere member. When I try to watch a video via Roku or iOS, I either get a blank screen with sound or I get the video replaying a 1 second portion over and over again. This was happening before I upgraded the server and clients. And it continues after upgrading all to latest versions. Interestingly, when I play the video via web browser on a laptop it works perfectly. I have attached the ffmpegtranscode and EmbyServer log files for reference. Hello everyone, I am testing Emby to see if I could use it to replace my previous media server installation, and so far everything seems fine, except for one issue I am having with one specific tablet. This is an old low-spec tablet (LG V490) that I occasionally use to watch TV shows, and I am only getting audio, and a black screen. The OSD displays fine, and the screen displays the beginning of the video for a fraction of a second when playback starts, but after that it's pitch black. I have tried with different videos and quality profiles, but it's always the same. If I use an external player (e.g. VLC), the stream plays fine, but I don't have seek functionality and resuming from where I left off seems to be hit & miss (mostly miss). I have tried disabling HW acceleration from the developer options as suggested in other threads, but the result is the same. The Emby Theater app from the Windows Store has the overlay come up when you use the media keys, which is supposed to show the name of the song and then the album artist. The theater app is making it show the artist(s), and then the album artist. This happens with all of my songs, all of which have proper names/titles. I do notice that the windows store app is quite a bit slower at starting songs, compared to the web UI or Emby Theater from the website. It's particularly slow when starting a song after playing nothing, such as first starting the app or after clicking the stop button on previous media.. If you shuffle your library, an artist, or an album, it usually starts way faster and will skip songs much quicker. Hope this is in the right section. If not, please move it for me. Thanks!
