  1. Hello, I am an Emby user from China. I deployed the Emby Server 4.9.0.15 beta version on Synology NAS (I also tried the 4.8.5.0 stable version), mainly using the client (version 3.3.79) including the following devices: - Redmi TV, Android 11, MediaTek MTK9650 - JMGO Projector, Android 11, MediaTek MT9671 - Regular tablet, Android 7.1.2, Rockchip RK3399 I am sure that the hardware performance of these devices can fully play 4k hevc 60fps or even 4k av1 hdr 60fps encoded video. I can play it normally using the system default player, Cx File Explorer, and VLC player. So I directly disabled the transcoding function on the server, that is, [Server - Users - Playback] unchecked [Allow video transcoding, if necessary, during me Dia playback], but when I use the Emby client, except that Redmi TV can play 4k hevc video, my projector and tablet will trigger client transcoding. In addition, when playing 4k av1 hdr and 4k vp9 videos (if supported by the hardware itself), Emby is also normal.Only the most common movie encoding format 4k hevc will make an error, which makes me very confused. I have tried the latest 3.3.79 and previous versions, but the results were the same. I guess maybe Emby's underlying player ExoPlayer doesn't call the system decoder library correctly? Can you check and fix this bug as soon as possible? After all, the system's default player, CX File Explorer, and VLC are all working fine on the same device, but they can't use emby's beautiful interface and synchronize the playback progress.
  2. When Streaming my 4k UHD rips to the app on my S95B- using the Samsung app- I get this weird corruption throughout the playback. No error messages, It doesn't happen on my phone, but windows PC simply buffers like crazy. Thank you in advance for all that you do. ffmpeg-remux-982ea4be-a6ea-455e-9d5f-7a6dc5b2b09b_1.txt
  3. Hi, (Using Emby Premiere) Im struggling to play UHD titles with PGS graphics because my Emby server appears to be struggling with transcoding. This surprises me at many levels because 1) I have an NVidia Quadro card 2) I have a Dual XEON CPU 16 core proc server with 96GB ram DEDICATED to playing 1 STREAM. Not 100 streams. 1 Stream Whenever I enable subtitles, its GAME OVER. Stuttering occurs every 15 seconds for 15 seconds. Its not even minimal stuttering. User Experience is deplorable. When I looked into the log file, I noticed a couple of seemingly important messages which leave me bewildered. I was hoping someone could help out. Message #1: Warning: Hardware-accelerated subtitle-overlay is disabled due to diagnostic option Message #2: Checking: 'NVDEC Quadro M2000 - H.265 (HEVC)'. NoMatch Bitrate (65 Mbit/s) exceeds maximum supported rate (59 Mbit/s) Decoder does not match. (Then proceeds to use software decoder) What HW and/or SW config changes are needed to get a single stream to play correctly I have enclosed the relevant log snippet for detail / context Thanks in advance. emby_log.txt

    Media Playback Stops Unexpectedly

I can't figure out why this keeps happening but I'm having a lot of issues with playback at the moment. The video will just cut to black all of a sudden and never resume. Changing the quality setting will resume the video from the beginning instead of where it left off. I'm pretty sure the internet connection is not an issue because I'm experiencing this on my LAN as well with both systems connected via ethernet. Would anyone be able to help? I've attached the recent debug logs from my server. ffmpeg-directstream-c51be9f7-420c-49df-89ee-abc09bda6416_1.txt hardware_detection-63792637943.txt unhandled_c540ff9e-9640-423d-97be-9e63eba487ec.txt embyserver 7.5.22.txt
  5. Hello, I am facing Media Playback Issue since last few days, I am unable to play any media smoothly on my Devices and also in PC app or Web. It's Freezing after few mins of playback and auto-pausing/freezing in Mobile Apps. It was working fine since I am using it but this strange things are happening since last few days. I'm a Emby Premiere Users also. I am attaching Server Log. Please help me or Fix it embyserver.txt
  6. Hi all, I have got some problems with the playback of certain files (e.g Friends - S01E18 - The One with All the Poker.mp4): Every 20 to 30 sek the picture freezes/audio stops for a few seconds before it resumes - it looks like some sort of buffering. I use a Raspberry Pi4 with LibreELEC 9.2.0/Kodi 18.5 and the Embycon Add-on as client. Emby server is on a QNAP-NAS (Tvs-672n, Core I3). I checked the local network with iperf3 and get constantly values above 100 Mbit/s. So this shoudn‘t be the issue. Interestingly, if I play the very same file directly through Kodi (via NFS and not via the Embycon add-on) everything plays smoothly. I was hoping that one of the more experienced user could have a look at the attached log file and help me to solve the problem. (The problem occured approximately at 9:47pm). In the end, I would like to use the embycon addon (because it nicely synchronizes all the watch status, etc.). But also avoid transcoding, if possible. (I like to switch audio languages quite often during playback. Unfortunately, when transcoding using the embycon plugin you cannot quickly change languages but have to restart the transcoding with a different language). Kind regards, Squee Logfile sent: 4:20pm (UTC-5) Emby-User: "emby-user"
  7. Hi - I'd be hugely grateful to anyone that can help resolve this issue for me. I have an issue with playback stuttering (buffering?) when accessing certain iPhone-captured videos on my Emby server on my local network NAS. This seems to occur for H264 and HEVC videos captured on my iPhone 8 (iOS 12.4.1). Other videos captured on my GoPro appear to work absolutely fine. When the video starts, it plays for a second or 2 and then stops briefly; and then plays again for a second or 2 and then stops briefly - this cycle continues for the entire video, i.e. 'stuttering' playback. If I pause the video for a few seconds and then continue playback, playback seems to continue fine for a few seconds and then gets back into the above 'stuttering' cycle again. This behaviour occurs irrespective of how many times I repeat playback of the same file. The above issue only occurs when I access my Emby server via: the Emby sever URL on a laptop (via web browser) via the Emby app on AppleTV via the Emby app on my iPhone The issue does NOT occur when I access the video via: VLC on Apple TV (video is in same location as above on the NAS) VLC on iPhone (via Emby server) via other iPhone video/file utils on iPhone (e.g. QNAP file and video viewers). I don't have a network bandwidth issue (and I'm pretty sure it isn't an issue with NAS processor power as this issue doesn't occur when using a non-Emby client, e.g. VLC). My Emby server environment: QNAP NAS TS-251A (16GB RAM) QTS 4.4.1.1117 Emby Server 4.2.1.0 Having read through many articles in this forum, I have already tried the following (none of which have made any difference): disabling/enabling hardware acceleration disabling/enabling subtitle 'burning in' various custom settings for HWA and threading various settings for playback quality and bit rates It does seem that the Apple TV and iOS apps are trying to use direct playback (so my understanding is that transcoding should not even come into the equation?). I've attached: a PDF of screenshots of my Emby server dashboard showing the tests I've run:pg 1 - attempted Apple TV playback pg 2 - screenshot of log page following ATV test pg 3 - attempted browser-based playback (playback for a number of seconds and the ''buffering") pg 4 - screenshot of log page following ATV test pg 5 - attempted playback via iOS Emby app on iPhone Emby server logs (each of them coincides with the tests I've run as described above - the PDF has an orange 'label' on pages 1, 3 and 5 that 'tags' the test being run and the timestamp) transcoding logs Much appreciation in advance for any help! 8. My issue is inconsistency with playback, sometimes it's fine for a whole episode playing flawlessly, others for 15-20mins playing how it should then it hangs up and other times it hangs up immediately before playing then stopping and playing repeatedly. This is understandably frustrating as I just switched over from Plex and purchased the Lifetime membership for Emby. (I'm all in!) All my testing has been done on a series of episodes and a movie with the originating format being MKV. Local testing has been done using an X-Box and remote testing has been done using the Nvidia Shield. My first thought was that it had to do with transcoding but as the Emby dash board says it's all Direct Playing, I have no idea why it's having such issues. The testing was done on the x-box attempting to play Angry Birds which is an MKV also tested on Nvidia shield with the same stopping issues. The primary remote testing was done on Brooklyn 99 with the same inconsistent results. I even used the convert feature in Emby and converted the Brooklyn 99 episodes all to MP4 and it still has the exact same issues. First off my server stats are as follows; Gigabyte MW50-SVO Intel Xeon E5 v3 3.5Ghz Nvidia Quadro P2000 (for hardware accelerated transcoding) 32GB RAM Server Raids 2x Intel Hardware RAID 5s both 4x 8TB Firewolfs (one for TV shows and one for Movies) Internet up and download are over FIOS getting 500mbps up and down The server is located remotely. I'm using an Nvidia Shield as my playback device. Here are all of the logs, I apologize for my ignorance in not knowing how to tell which logs are relevant but I thought I would attach them all for the relevant time period just in case... embyserver.txt embyserver-63689414400.txt embyserver-63689450608.txt embyserver-63689461604.txt embyserver-63689461681.txt embyserver-63689464367.txt embyserver-63689500802.txt embyserver-63689539161.txt embyserver-63689587200.txt embyserver-63689619670.txt embyserver-63689620488.txt Any help is greatly appreciated!!
  9. Hi, does anyone else have this issue - the Emby Theater client plays SD content only at 480P My Xbox is set to 1080p and all video source files for this example are 720 x 576 or 720 x 480 and in either m4v or mkv container format. I am not able to capture any screen shots but what I can share is that any film which I play via the app on my Xbox plays at a lower resolution - i.e. grainy, lossy, etc. I can play the same film on an Nvidia Shield, or even my smart phone (also a Linux box via the browser) or any one of a number of Windows boxes using Kodi ... and the files play as expected. ONLY when using the Emby Theater client on my Xbox does this issue exist. Any thoughts?
  10. Its the strangest thing, but one TV show on my system always transcodes when launched thru Emby for WMC on any of my systems. I see the following in the logs when this happens: 2016-11-10 20:30:18.1159 Error ServerManager: SessionWebSocketListener failed processing WebSocket message Context *** Error Report *** Version: 3.1.215.0 Command line: C:\Users\svcs\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe Operating system: Microsoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True Processor count: 4 Program data path: C:\Users\svcs\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server Application Path: C:\Users\svcs\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe Value cannot be null. Other shows in the same HDD/share play back correctly, so its not a path issue, and other MKV files play back properly. It just seems to happen on any of the video files in my season 01 folder of a show on my NAS. Any ideas? Emby Server Version 3.1.215.0 beta Emby for WMC Version 3.0.307.0

    WMC Playback

I have a playback issue of very bad quality. Most of my video's are MP4 as of this one with the bad quality. I am currently with Emby Server Version 3.0.7100.0. With the latest WMC edition. My server is a HP xw4400 Workstation Core2Duo 8 gigs of memory. Running WHS 2011. Task Manager shows using 2.5 gigs of memory and pushing CPU at 80% with ffmpeg using majority of the process. While showing the movies the transcoding stays ahead of the movie at 57 fps. WMC is a Dell 7040 i5 4 gigs of memory with 128 m2 ssd. Which it does not buffer. As well as the fast forwarding to differ scenes only restarts the movie, cannot advance. This only happens on certain movies this is one. Is MP4 native? If So why the transcoding? Path Substitution is set correctly within the Server. FFMPEG Log 9.18.16 2.25.txt Server log.txt
