  1. I wasn't sure if I should start a new topic for this, as I experiencing pretty much the same issues that Swynol and Daedalus experienced HERE: I originally posted this on that thread simply because it seemed directly related, but between worrying over whether that constituted thread-jacking, and the topic now having been marked 'Answered', I thought it might be better to start fresh (I will edit my post there to reflect this). I'm running Emby Server Beta on Windows 8.1. The main symptom is that all my supporter plugins are showing as "Trial expired", and when I go to their pages in the catalog, I just get a never-ending 'Loading' Circle. Emby Connect also seems wonky, as I can't link local users with their online Emby accounts; Users already linked can still use Connect to access the server over cellular (My only other internet connection), although when I try to log in through Connect in Chrome on the machine itself, my credentials aren't recognized. The logs show errors on every attempt to connect to verify plugin authorization, to the Emby Connect service and so on, in each case the log states "The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.". It seems to be throwing A LOT of these errors, too, as I've had several 100MB+ logs over the past few days (The attached log from a fresh boot yesterday afternoon has since grown to 50MB overnight). The odd thing is that, despite the connection issues for plugin and Connect authorization, Emby Server updated both itself and the plugins just fine, and, as mentioned, I can use Connect to access the server from my cell on 4G. The "Thank you for supporting Emby" badge shows up properly on the Dashboard too (Not sure if that's relevant, but the last time I had a connection problem it disappeared). This is all happening as I finally have my server (the machine, that is) up and running again, after the motherboard and processor died a couple months ago, forcing me to use my laptop as a temporary server. I know from the fact that I didn't have these issues on the laptop that the cause should be located within the server, I've temporarily disabled my firewall entirely and placed the server in my router's DMZ just to eliminate that part of the equation, and I am fairly certain the issue isn't with my Emby configuration, as I've performed a series of fresh installs (both Release and Beta), and the issue was still present, but all I've discovered so far is what's NOT causing the problem, leaving me with no more of a clue as to what actually IS :-/ If anyone could help shed light on this, I would be seriously grateful, as while I do have a certain small amount of pride in my technical skills, I'm also pretty sure that I've come about as far as those skills will take me. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope. server-63605748225.txt

    MediaBrowserWS error

I am having an error pop up each time I start Emby from Windows Media Center in Windows 8.1 I get the error that MediaBrowserWS is not working and it asks me if I want to disable it? I believe that this is or was the Web Service service. My question is twofold. Is this the web service? And do I need it? Or has the service been updated to reflect Emby? And this is extraneous? If I do need it, and I may because the web client is not working consistently. Sometimes I can get to it and see Emby, and sometimes I get a web client timeout, how do I fix it? Do I just download and install a new version of Emby over top of the existing? Or if it needs to be removed? Do I have to dig to remove the MediaBrowserWS call, so that I don't have a duplicate?
  3. Is anyone else having an issue with the "Main Menu" buttons on the Windows 8.1 app? My 2 Libraries are shown, but when i click on "(My Name) Movies" or "(My Name) TV Shows" Nothing happens. The "Live TV" button in this menu works perfectly and directs me to the correct screen, just the libraries are broken. I can see the "New Movies" and "New Episodes" on the home page and can navigate them perfectly and watch the media listed there, but I cannot browse my entire library. Please let me know if there is a fix for this! Also, When i rename the media folders to just "Movies" and "TV Shows" they work, but the separate names don't allow the buttons to work correctly!
  4. I am trying to get live tv working and am running into trouble: The channel guide loads fine (see channel guide.jpg below) When I click on play to play a live tv stream absolutely nothing happens. (see Play.jpg below) I would appreciate any help you can give me. Getting frustrated spent way to much time on this. I like mediabrowser a lot just need to get it working properly. Previously used Mediabrowser theater and classic on a Windows 8 machine. Trying to down size to a lower power consumption box and a firetv box. Serverwmc is a new for me previously used Media Center when I wanted to watch tv. Setup: ZBOX-BI320-B/E/U/J/TW-W2 Intel Celeron 2957U (dual-core, 1.4 GHz) WD My Book 4 TB external hard drive MediaBrowser server Version 3.0.5518.7 ServerWMC Server version 1.0.0.52, build: 1175 Clients: 1) local MediaBrowser Theater 2) Firetv KODI Helix (future client will try to get this working after I can play live tv locally in the browser) 3) MediaBrowser Browser Player serverwmc current log http://paste2.org/D2Fm5p3p Additional Information: 1) Tuners work fine in Windows Media Center 2) Media Library seems to work okay (See library structure.jpg used below) 3) Shared folders as shown below (Recorded TV permissions.jpg) 4) ServerWMC structure should be okay (see serverwmc structure folders.jpg below)
  5. This might be a dumb question but I don't seem to be able to find how to play an entire season of a TV series when using the Windows 8.1 store app on my surface pro 3 or on my windows phone, is there way to do this? Same goes for playing random episodes of a season. I can easily do this in MB Classic by simply hitting play on a season folder, then selecting either play all or play random. I have ensured all my mediabrowser installs are updated to the latest release. Any help would be great.
  6. Hello: I installed the trial version of Media Browser on my son's Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet (Windows 8.1). After setup, I noticed Recorded TV wasn't listed, so I went to my main PC (server) and added Recorded TV to the library. I then went back to his tablet, restarted MB and Recorded TV was listed, albeit in the Folders section. I went back to my PC and, in the MB dashboard, selected the hamburger icon in the upper left. I found my way around to where I was able to place and then reorder the Recorded TV to the main menu. I thought maybe that would help (but not really, because how could a simple reorder make the files appear?) but it didn't, the recorded shows were nowhere to be found. Does someone have an answer as to why the show don't appear in the Recorded TV folder in MB on a Windows 8.1 tablet? I'm sure I'm missing a setting somewhere, but so far haven't been able to locate what that something is. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Joe
  7. First, I want to give big kudo's to the developers. This thing is friggin beautiful!!! I love it There are a couple things though that need some work (or maybe I need to do something different) When I run a playlist, it bombs. Just locks up after the first video has played. Is anyone else experiencing this? Second, on the main page you have the main menu on the left which has my various collections. On the right side of the page there are two panes for new movies and new episodes. If I click the new movies it shows ALL movies, not just the recently added ones. Same thing with new episodes, when I click it, it shows ALL of them. Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Question, will the app gain the ability to browse genre's, studio's and people like the web client does? Thanks all !
  8. Help. I have been using media center and media browser for awhile now, but since I have upgraded to windows 8.1, I have nothing but problems. I have researched as much as I can and have tried every suggestion I can find, nothing seems to help. When I run MB3, it runs for awhile, then it no longer responds. None of the player buttons work. Then I get the infamous "Media Browser 3 has stopped responding. You will be returned to media center", or words to that effect. Many times it even freezes the computer (i.e. ctrl + alt + del) works, but I can't even open my task manager. I have to sign out so it forces the program to cIose. I have reloaded both media server and MB3 client. Yes, I am running the released version, not the beta. I have ensured my windows is up to date. Love the program, worked great with windows 7. I upgraded from the browser to the server, no issues. Windows 8, it has been nothing but problems. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  9. I am loving the development around Media Browser 3 having used Media Browser for a number of years. I have MB Server running on Windows 8.1 and three client machines around the house running Media Browser Theatre also on Windows 8.1 all running seamlessly. I have been following the MBKinect project for a little while and finally decided to jump in with the release of the latest 'stable' version released at the beginning of the month. I purchased a Kinect off eBay and have set everything up correctly as far as I can see. I installed the v1.7 SDK and the Developer's Kit on one of my client machines, and then plugged in the Kinect. It was recognised in Windows as the various Kinect devices, Mic Array, Camera etc. I have then downloaded the latest version of MBKinect from this thread (http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/850-media-browser-nui-natural-user-interface-kinect/), unzipped it to my desktop and ran the 'Media Browser Kinect.exe' It prompts for administrative rights (I am logged in as a standard user) briefly displays the splash screen and prompts for allowance of a Windows Firewall exception (presumably to contact the MB Server machine), but then immediately crashes. I tried this logged in as the admin user on the client machine also as thought might be a permissions issue but the same outcome everytime. Looking in the Windows Application Log get the following two errors every time I start it - can anybody point me in the right direction? Faulting application name: Media Browser Kinect.exe, version: 2.0.0.4, time stamp: 0x531261b7 Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.3.9600.16408, time stamp: 0x523d4548 Exception code: 0xe0434352 Fault offset: 0x00012eec Faulting process id: 0xfb8 Faulting application start time: 0x01cf3d249b16858b Faulting application path: C:\Users\Security\Desktop\MBKinect Release 01-03-2014\Media Browser Kinect.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\KERNELBASE.dll Report Id: d8f5acab-a917-11e3-8253-90b11c67b0ef Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Application: Media Browser Kinect.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. MB3 in WMC Win8.1

Posted this question to AVS and was referred here. I have a few noobie questions as I've just been introduced to MB3. As I am trying to get things touched up on Win8.1 WMC, in the meantime I have installed MB3 theater. Ideally, I would like to utilize WMC for all my media but I have ran into a few problems with MB3 classic via WMC. Everytime I replace an MKV file, WMC fails to play. What I mean by replace an MKV file is, I've ripped a few movies and discovered they were DD instead of DTS-HD. I deleted the DD file, re-ripped the BD with the DTS-HD, but now the new DTS-HD MKV rip doesn't play in WMC. With that said here are a few questions: For WMC MB3, does anyone use an external player? I added PowerDVD as an external player but when I play a movie it opens PowerDVD in desktop mode (doesn't seem seamless). I guess I could have it open PowerDVD maximized and one wouldn't really be able to tell that it is running in desktop mode. This does, however, make it so that I cannot just press the "back" button on my remote and get back to the MB3 menu. Unless I'm missing something. This question might not be totally unapplicable to MB3 but I'll post anyway. When I rip movies (I have done with DVDfab - mkv passthrough and makemkv) I'm assuming that these ripping processes will rip the movies in their native frame rates and resolution? When I play a BD with PowerDVD 13 Ultra, my Samsung TV adjusts its input and momentarily displays 1080p@60 then the screen goes black and immediately comes back with and momentarily displays 1080p@24. With ripped movies though, playing through MB3 or even PowerDVD the screen doesn't do this. So is the movie playing at 60hz then? Thanks for all the help I'm really new to the HTPC world and especially the ripping movie world.
  11. Hi all, Random question here, but I've been trying to decide recently if I should make the jump to Windows 8.1 or not. I don't really have a good reason to, but I've been thinking about giving it a try. After doing some research on the subject, I haven't really found any compelling reason whether I should, or should not switch, so I thought I'd ask some fellow MediaBrowser's what their take was on the subject. I don't want the cost of a new operating system to sway people's opinions either, this is just subject to people's preferences on the two OS's, and not whether it's worth the money to upgrade or not. I only really want to hear from people with experience with both 7 and 8.1, and what their opinion is on why they like either one better. - Currently I'm running WIndows 7 Home Premium x64 All I want to know is: Are there really any advantages I'll get from switching to 8.1? Are there advantages to me staying with Windows 7? Are there any trade-offs to switching from 7 to 8.1 and vise versa? Which do you prefer, and why? The computer in question is my main PC, which runs MBServer and MBT. It's connected to the 65" TV in my living room, and is also used for 95% of my web-browsing, gaming, word processing, etc. ...Basically, pretend it's my only computer, and used for everything. It's main use, however (+/-65% of the time); is for an HTPC What I'd like to get from this thread is the majority of you telling me either: Yes, go to Windows 8.1, it's totally worth it! or NO! You're better off with Windows 7! and why you think this way. Thanks! and sorry for the relatively long post, but I just can't decide on my own! haha. Patrick
  12. When entering a media folder it still says "media folders" at the top instead of the name of the media folder. In the example below I went into the "anime" media folder. Can the media folder header at the top reflect what media folder the user is currently in? Media Folders Media Folders > Anime
  13. I've been happily accessing my media collection from my Windows 7 HTPC using Media Browser 2 for some time now. I had occasional issues with it, but all in all it was reliable and did exactly what I wanted it to do. Due to the hard drive in my HTPC crashing I've had to rebuild it, so I now have a clean install of Windows 8.1 with Media Browser 3 Classic on the HTPC, and I've installed Media Browser 3 Server on a clean install of Windows Server 2008 R2. There's plenty to love in Media Browser 3. I love that there's now a single point of administration for my collection. I love that there's a variety of clients that can connect to the server (including multiple smartphones, not just Apple or Android). I love that the server is separate, and allows my HTPC to just be a client, without any extra overhead. I love the way the Server downloads the metadata, cover art, etc, etc which I used to have another plugin to do. However, a big problem with Media Browser 3 is that it seems to be a lot less stable that it's predecessor. The Media browser service never starts automatically on the server after I reboot it, I always have to go into it and start it up manually, which sort of defeats the object of running it as a service. This is a manageable problem though, as I know I have to go in and start up the service - not ideal, but not a showstopper. The big problems I have are on the client end. I have no end of trouble starting it in the first place from Media Center. When I choose the Media Browser icon from the Media Center Homepage, more often than not I'll get a short delay followed by "The media browser 3 program has stopped responding and you will be returned to Windows Media Center." I get this when launching Media Center straight away after a clean boot of the HTPC, and opening Media Browser straight up; when Media Centre has been running and doing other things for a while; when launching Media Browser straight from it's desktop icon. I can be trying to get in for ages and ages, getting the error and then re-launching, and suddenly out of the blue it will launch and I can get in. Once I'm into it, it's a joy to navigate and find what I want to watch. I'm sure it's not the biggest in the world, but I don't exactly have a small collection, and it's quick to zip through it to find what I'm looking for, even with a very rich user interface. The next problem I get is when I'm playing a video file. Any button I press on the remote will cause Media Browser to crach, playback to stop, and I get dumped back into Media Center again (I'm trying to get the exact error message, but I can't get MB3 to launch at the moment!). When I say any button, I mean things like Pause and Stop. This is obviously a major problem for an HTPC, and makes Media Browser pretty unusable on it. Has anyone else experienced these problems? Can anyone point me in the right direction to start troubleshooting? Many thanks
  14. The subtitle selection of the W8.1 app shows the language of the subtitle selected, can this same behavior be applied with audio selection? W8.1 Audio Selection - No language shown Web Client Audio Selection
  15. My media folder tiles are in 16x9 aspect ratio and it does not appear to be the case when navigating to the media folders section. As shown in the image they are squashed together. The windows phone app, android app and MBC show them in the correct ratio.
  16. When trying to use the play to function to play to MBC nothing happens. I'm not sure what logs you need, I'm assuming that you need the app logs (Which once I'm at home I'll send). As a side note doing the same thing from the web client on my laptop sending to MBC works as it should.
  17. LAV filters worked great with Windows media center 8 however I have upgraded to windows 8.1 and can no longer get LAV filters to work with Windows Media Center. Most of my movies are in ts file format so Media Browser Theater is not yet a solution for me (hopefully ts files will be fully supported soon). Currently DVD menu's, skip to scene, fast forward, etc. don't seem to work with ts files. I can play the movie and pause and that is about it. MKV's however seem to work quite well with Media Browser Theater. I would like to continue to use Media Browser Classic with windows media center. Has anyone been successfull at getting LAV filters to work with Windows Media Center 8.1? If you did how did you do it? I already reinstalled my OS 2 times to see if I could get this to work, it however failed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  18. I am using Media Browser Theatre in the living room right now. I thought I would try the Windows 8.1 App version this weekend. Congratulations on the great work on the Windows 8.1 App. It is the way forward and the design is one of the best I have seen amongst the many platforms you are supporting. Unfortunately navigating with the windows remote control sometimes does nothing and no panels appear to have the focus. I have to reach for the mouse and can sometimes switch back to the remote but not for long. Are other users having issues? My remote is the standard MS one for MC. A related issue for me is that I am on a trial which will expire fairly quickly so I will have no idea when the issue is resolved as I wont be eligible for another trial. Unfortunately I can't use it as it is at the moment.
  19. I have an xbox music pass for my music needs at the moment. Their app is sorely lacking in functionality and I would rather use MB. Can MB retrieve the drm usage rights to allow playback of tracks downloaded using xbox music pass? - This may apply to spotify users etc... Would also like this to work using remote play options. So browse music collection using tablet and then play drm music on htpc (hooked up to proper stereo).
  20. Thought I start a thread to consolidate Windows 8.1 upgrade issues. Issue 1: Windows store not starting: Basically, the store starts, shows the green screen and then immediately exits. There are many discussions for this on the web, but for me the only one that worked was running a powershell script to re-register the the store app: Type Win key +r and paste the following to powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml
  21. I am at work now, so please forgive me for not posting the logs at the moment..... I did a full rebuild yesterday on the HTPC/gaming system. Nice clean win 8.1 pro, TMT 6.5 which finally has Nvidia refresh rate switching. Everything working great except MBC. I will state that MBS works perfect. Streaming to my android perfectly. Symptom: Media browser classic will not launch, giving the error, unable to launch Mediabrowser3, returning you to Media centre. Findings: 1. While the library is being indexed, can't launch at all. Even after the library had finished, for some reason I couldn't actually lunch until this morning (6 hours later). 2. If Media browser classic is the first thing launch, it works just fine. 3. If live tv is launched first, then go to MBC, it will crash. I will try to provide the log tonight, but from my brief over view of it, it reported login in, making a connection, then nothing further. Are there logs just for MBC? I could only find them for MBS MBC and MBS, both versions are what were available as beta from yesterday.
