Help Needed - Emby Server cant find media folders on NAS
JestersDance posted a topic in General/Windows
Hi All, Just needing a bit of help and not sure where to look. I recently did a reformat and reloaded emby server (version 3.0.5882.0) but when I go to add media locations server cant find my NAS. The NAS is working fine, ive got mapped drives to my PC etc. When I try to input the path location of these mapped drives or even the drive directly emby just resets the screen to a blank form and continues to ask me to input an address. I am at a loss as to what to do. To add to this, I really know flip all about a lot of this stuff so am not sure where to dig a little deeper to find the problem. oh, and prior to my reformat is was all working fine! Any help would be very greatly appreciated. happy to post log files etc.. if someone can tell me where to get them! (thats how unskilled i am!) -
Tried multiple browsers, just get the spinning circle when trying to configure. Was wondering if anyone else is seeing this. Server 3.0.5913.0 Trakt 3.0.5810.33434

I have a QNAP TS-451+, and have installed the 64-bit standard version of emby on it. Everything seems to be fine, until I log into Amazon Fire TV (2 gen). I can select users with no problem, but after 10 mins, I am still left with default images, example, next up tv does not show the image of the show, but instead shows a default tv icon (white tv on blue background). Same with library, and movies (with default backgrounds). I get synopsis for tv shows, but when i select the episode, I just get a blank screen Not sure if the issue is with emby or the amazon fire tv. I'm sure the QNAP is fast enough

I have multiple tv folders, so I have used the option to group content together, which works as expected, but I would like to assign my own image to the grouped content, but do not see an edit option. How do I do this?

Currently running beta with auto-update with auto-install enabled. I'm running Windows 10 and haven't had any issues until last night. Last night The Walking Dead(Series) and The Talking Dead(Series) didn't record. I checked the scheduled recordings this morning and noticed that I only have scheduled recordings for March 17th. I know Tosh.0 is on tomorrow and should be scheduled to record, even checked it in the guide and it shows as new during the time it should record; There's other shows that should be recording as well and aren't scheduled, for sake of ease and to confirm issues I picked only that show. I tried refreshing the guide, cleaning database, all the scheduled tasks, then restarting the server with no change. I then rebooted the PC and re-tried those tasks with no change so that's when I went into the logs. I'm currently on build 3.0.5903.0, while looking through the logs I noticed Emby is installed in the appdata folder: 2016-03-14 05:15:06.5941 Info Main: Emby Command line: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe Operating system: Microsoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0 Processor count: 8 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True Program data path: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server Application Path: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe I understand that Emby installs to this location, but in my experience programs installed in this location will develop odd issues that cannot be replicated nor corrected. I'm wondering if that's the issue here or something with the Emby build. Re-installing stable version, restoring server settings, will report findings. Logs attached. Logs.zip

Forgive me if this answer is locked away somewhere on the forum but I can't seem to find it. I have my server set up and running fine on Windows 10. There's a new release of Emby server. Do I just install over the existing server or any thing that I need to do? Obviously I don't want to mess up my set up. I'm running server as a Windows service. Thank you.

Going buy the download page I chose a server I thought would best meet my needs. You have just updated the server and it does not provide a app update for the Asustor system. The other issue I am having is that it's not loading my movies up so it shows a blank screen. I am wondering if there something different from this and the one I was using on windows?

I have a QNAP TS-451+ being delivered today, and it has 'Virtualization Station' which allows installation of other OS's. I want to install windows, due to some software I want to run on the QNAP, and was wondering which I should install - windows 10 or windows server 2012 (and which edition), or does it not really make any difference Thanks for your help

Hi, As of 3 days ago, my Emby Server for Windows will not start. It crashes with a fault on clr.dll. I have downloaded the latest version and ran the install over my current installation with no joy. I am including 3 log files. Hope they have the data that will help someone figure this out. Thank you in advance! It's time for me to upgrading my old server (readynas nv+) to something that can run emby and has more power. I've seen this one, and was wondering what you guys think of it: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B015CDDIMQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3SBFIH4LPV5YW&coliid=I1TRVCOBXKN3IZ&psc=1 I have a couple questions about it, before I buy it. 1. Is it powerful enough to transcode 2 HD video files? 2. It will also be used for downloading as well, so would need to be able to handle downloading, files moving, as well as transcoding. 3. I have some windows programs I would like to install on it. It say it can run multiple Windows, Linux, UNIX and Android based virtual machines with the Virtualization Station. Would I be able to boot up the server directly into the virtualization station & would I see any serious performance losses by running emby and and a couple of small programs in this way. 3. Is there any other server you would recommend over this. Don't really want to go above the price of this server I want to make sure I get the right server for what I need, so I don't find myself having to upgrade it again in a few years. Thanks for any info/help you can give

I have just got myself a QNAP TS-451+, and have installed emby on it. How do I transfer ibn over to the QNAP. I can't seem to find how to access where emby is installed Thanks for your help

As the title suggests, I'd like to see TMDB added to the list of sources for episode metadata. Some shows actually have better metadata on TMDB. For example, Black sails has no overview for any season 3 episode on thetvdb, but does on tmdb http://thetvdb.com/?tab=episode&seriesid=262407&seasonid=643716&id=5392170&lid=7 https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/47665-black-sails/season/3

Issue: New media is added to my Ubuntu Linux server pretty frequently. I don't want to thrash my storage by consistently kicking off manual scans like I'm doing now. One idea I have is to add a new library source located on SSD to at least speed up the scans, however I only see the option to manually kick off scans for the entire library not just one source. Additionally I don't see an option to schedule scans for a single source. Unfortunately, real-time monitoring of the filesystem doesn't work from what I can see in forum posts. Does anyone have any ideas how I might go about more frequently updating the library without having to manually kick it off or set a scan to automatically happen really frequently?

Whenever we search a title by it's name, I noticed that only the translated name (outside-US cenarios) is found within search, not the original name. As I keep metadata of the original language and my country's too inside media (audio, subtitles...) , I expected to be able to search for a media by both of those, also. Example: Filename : Back to the future Title: De volta para o futuro Today I can only search by words inside "De volta para o futuro", even if the physic filename is in english. Can this be fixed? I don't want to force anyone to search using a specific language if I have info about both. Additionally... I want to remember that issue ( http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/30911-search-bug-with-accented-chars/ ) is opened...hoping that next release will fix this.

In other topic, I guess @@Happy2Play was the one that told that in time of detecting media, info inside square [ ] brackets would be completely ignored by Emby. I went to do some tests and I guess it's not working as it should. Trying to manually identify 3 video concluded in this: - [1985] Back to the Future returned me correct. - [1989] Back to the Future II returned me correct. - [1990] Back to the Future III DIDN'T find anything at all. but after I removed the [1990] it found it normally. So... it's obvious that info inside square brackets aren't being ignored as predicted. Can you take a look at this? To make it really ignored? Additionally, can you "TRIM" the string before sending it to identify ? I've noticed different results when typing "Back to the future III" and " Back to the Future III" (space before name, or after) Thanks!

I've been trying to purge an issue with otherwise inexplicable database errors for the last few days since the last update. I have removed all libraries and isolated the issue to my TV shows. But diagnosing it further is proving troublesome since there is no information on what files were being worked on when the error occurred. 2016-02-20 18:26:13.8343 Error App: Error in Nfo *** Error Report *** Version: 3.0.5871.0 Command line: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe -programdata /var/lib/emby-server -restartpath /usr/lib/emby-server/restart.sh Operating system: Unix 3.13.0.27 Processor count: 8 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True Program data path: /var/lib/emby-server Mono: 4.0.3 (Stable 4.0.3.20/d6946b4 Thu Aug 13 12:46:26 UTC 2015) Application Path: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe Text node cannot appear in this state. It would be awesome that there was a option to connect servers together. Something like a server side sharing. So this way your server stays central and your server connect to an other server to get the content from, or even better the server share a token to directly link the content. That is what I am missing. Other then that it works splendid.

Hi Guys, I am struggling a little with something. Previously I had a catch-all folder for documentaries (movies & series). I would just have a "movie Title (year)" folder for each movie and a "series title" folder for each series in said folder. Suddenly it would not add series anymore, nor recognize episodes in my auto organize folder. This was mixed content. So I tried emptying the folder, removing it from the library, re-scanning and adding all the stuff again. Once again all of the movie-type documentaries were recognised and scraped automatically, but the series were not. In order to remedy this, I have created two separate folders: Documovies/ Movie 1 (year)/ Movie 2 (year)/ etc.. TV Documentaries/ TEDTalks/ BBC Documentaries/ etc.. Instead of using mixed content, I now have each set to the relevant type (Movies/TV). However this is really messing with my OCD as I now have two sections in the emby web frontend containing documentaries. SO, can I group these somehow and only display "Documentaries" as the "folder"? Also another issue I have is that with BBC Documentaries, for instance, I only have a few interesting episodes but the display shows every single season and every single episode. That equates to thousands of episodes clogging up my front-end when I maybe only have 10 or so. For my normal TV series I have set it to show me missing and unaired episodes so that I can keep track of such, but it really isn't necessary for the documentaries. Is there any way that I can enable/disable this at the folder level?

Hard drive constantly under use by server. Idle?
unlessyouhaveherpes posted a topic in General/Windows
Hi! Let me begin by saying I'm apparently not the most skilled server admin! I got my HTPC running smoothly but when something goes wrong, I usually don't know what I'm doing, so pardon my lack of knowledge, if any. As I said, my setup is running smoothly: I'm running Emby Server 3.0.5821.0 and playback is only done locally in Emby Theater on this HTPC hooked up to my TV. The only problem I have is that my secondary hard drive containing my movies and TV shows directories is constantly spinning (and of course making noise). I've run Sysinternals' Process Explorer to see what processes were using my D: drive and shut down every one except Emby Server: I'm guessing my hard drive should go idle at some point when there's no playback happening (no library scanning either) but from what I understand, it's as if the server was constantly accessing the TV show and Movies directories... Is this normal? Also, is this enough info to target the problem? Please let me know if I should run more tests. I've attached my latest log to this post. Thanks for any help! log_09022016.txt -
Hi, I have noticed a few metadata issues within my collection, 1 - Music album artists, I only had one backdrop per artist, I found the setting to increase this and refreshed an artist, hey presto tons of artist backdrops. 2 - Films, missing cast images, once again hit refresh and the images return, and loads of other cast. 3 - TV Series, as above really. the main question here is how to do a full system refresh. I went into metadata manager and refreshed the whole folder doing a full refresh including replace art. This worked good initially but then just stopped, and has seemed to miss a few artists too. Should I leave the browser open until the spinning dingus disappears? The other thing I am getting is this This happens randomly through my music collection, and a refresh doesn't sort it. Any Ideas? Cheers

Well hello guys! long time no see me.. hehe. I've been away form the community and mb /face palm, correction emby! my god things sure have changed. I got a bug yesterday and decided to buy the win 8-10 app and setup emby again. And from that moment forward I've been biting my tongue and fighting this thing to no end. I was basically starting from scratch on my setup so I first installed the server, got it somewhat happy then moved on to the app and 4 1/2 hrs later I still couldn't get it to connect to the server. And had arrived at the deshion that it wasn't meant to be. But then I decided to look into the desktop app, grabbed a copy set it up, fumbled around with it some then accidentally figured out how to correctly type in the ip address and it sprang to life. So now I'm thinking it was me the whole time, but that was a bust. no matter what I did it just wont connect to the server, that is running on the same machine as the client. quick rundown of my current setup: windows 10 insiders build 10547 <-- incase it's important both ports emby uses have been opened in/out on both machines router has been port forward <-- wasn't sure if it was needed, but was running out of ideas. the emby helper is fully configured. and providing server link in app, just refuses to actually do anything lots of error logs to reference, here's 2 that stood out. This fist one ended Fatally (which was actually one of the last ones logged), the second one just errored out, which seemed to be the bulk of the logs collected. So to the awesome emby community I went, hope it pans out oh yeah! almost forgot, a large chunk of my battle last night was connecting network drives to he server. Needless to say I still don't have my network drives connected, got frustrated and moved on the next impossible hurdle. short of it, I need help with that part too! I thought I could handle anything this program could dish out, turns out I don't know one single thing about this program anymore, this is a whole new beast and I came unprepared to fight it.

Hello devs, In another thread I suggested creating a "priority ordert" about foreign metadata download. So choosing several in priority order instead of one, in case it doesn't find as the first choice. Besides that, I think I bumped into a bug here. My global settings are set to download metadata as "Portuguese" language and "Brazil" as country. If I just configure in this screen (global), it doesn't matter if I put Portuguese or Portuguese (Brazil). It just doesn't works. How do I know that it should ever work? When I set those same languages in the MOVIE metadata, not globally, it refreshes and downloads just fine my foreign language. Very strange. Can anyone take a look at this? Thanks

On my setup, the aspect ratio of album covers in the Home view of the Web Interface is not correct, it is 16:10 I guess, while it should be squared, since it shows album covers. I'm on 3.0.5786.0. Can anybody confirm this bug?
