HI, In the Emby App on NVidia Shield, I have noticed that I now cannot delete TV recordings by holding down the select button (on the main poster) on the remote, the subsequent list only displays, Play first unwatched, Play All etc, but no delete media option. I can drill down to each playable media entry (show) and delete individually, but this leaves the poster under recordings which I cannot delete. If however I log into the server via a web page, using the same account, I can select 'Delete Media' as an option on the main poster, which deletes everything under it too. Anyone else experience this? bug with the Emby app on Android TV ?

i have been having trouble with anime series in particular like Naruto, dragon ball z and now black clover. upon reaching the 100th episode, emby no longer detected the episode, it appeared as some random serial number. so i changed the folder structure as it appears in IMDB, season 1 with 51 episodes, season 2 with 51 episodes, and season 3 empty since no episodes have aired for that folder yet. In emby i created a folder called ANIME SERIES with a tv category, then the folder structure for this series was ANIME SERIES_ Black Clover_ Season 1_ Black Clover S01E01 Which gave me this in emby- it shows episode 106 and 107 unaired in season 1 which is wrong. also season two looked like this- it shows the title of each episode from season 1 and attached it to season 2. originally the folder structure was just the episode numbers starting with 1 and it detected and properly idendified all the way to episode 99, but when it got to 100 emby did not recognize it. i have also have episode 101 and 102 but emby doesn't even recognize that its there and i cant even play it on emby. i need help please.

Is Emby currently able to set up backups for M3U streams? For example, if I'm streaming Fox from link A thru Emby and all of a sudden link A goes down, is there a way for Emby to automatically start streaming from link A's backup Link B. If Emby is not currently capable of doing this then is there something already in the works or does anyone know of a third party plugin able to achieve this?

Hi All, I'm sure I've seen this brought up some time ago, but I couldn't find a topic in here. I was wondering if in the future it will be possible to use the Auto-Organize feature on movies, as well as television. I love being able to add television shows to my watched folder and have MBS take care of the renaming and organizing. Having a similar feature for movies would be great as well (as some other users agree, from what I remember of it being discussed in the past). I don't remember what the developer response was to the possibility of this feature, this is why I'm making a new thread for it. Thanks, Patrick

Continue Watching from DVR Starting From Beginning While Recording
darjonase posted a topic in Live TV
Steps to repeat the issue: 1. Start recording a show (I was recording an NFL game that lasts quite a while) 2. Start watching the show while the recording is still in progress 3. Close the browser while watching the show with the recording still in progress 4. Go back into Embry and you should now see the show in Continue Watching under the Live TV Section This shows where you left off as a green status bar, indicating that you are not at the beginning of the recording5. Click on Continue Watching and you will be sent back to the beginning of the recording 6. Closing the stream and going back to the TV menu will no longer show the Continue Watching option The Continue Watching process appears to be working correctly once the recording is completed, it only appears to be an issue while the recording is in process Expected Results If the recording knows the timestamp that I stopped the video, it should start back up at that timestamp not back at the beginning of the recording- 1 reply

I got rid of Plex because my Samsung Series 6 Smart TV couldn't recognize the server on my PC (Windows 10)) after the latest Plex upgrade. installed Emby and love it .... however. It worked briefly, but now it cant find the Emby server. My tablet (Samsung) can, but not my TV. I've tried different IP addresses, but nothing. I've removed the Emby app from my TV and reinstalled. Nothing. I turned the TV off and back on. Nothing. I've got a lot invested in content that I need to play on my Smart TV. HELP!

Old MediaBrowser with WMC user before i switched to Kodi I always used a shared Mysql for managing my library's till someone suggested me to use Emby. i'm trying to manage to separate my kids movies with my own movies. i was following the tips from the following topic https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/62048-separating-tv-movies-adult-kids/ but it seems that it takes a long time to load the kids nodes and that every time i'm accessing the kids nodes. the normal movie entry created by Emby works instant. Then i thought i might use the so called automatic created playlist that Emby makes. but i don't see any automatic created playlist when i want to add something. Also when i'm in Kodi and in the Emby settings where you can manage your library it only shows Movies and TV Shows and not the Kids Library

Hello Community, I wanna ask, is there any way, to ONLY tunnel the M3U Connections through a Socks proxy witch is running? I don't want to proxy all Connections on this Server, only the Connections to the Stream-Servers! Thanks, Nice to Hear from you Guys. And BTW: I Use Emby on Debian!

Great job bringing built-in TV without plugins! The "Channels" tab allows filtering (favorites, likes, dislikes). That is very useful. It would be even more useful to have such filters on the "Guide" tab. I hope that is possible, even simply implemented. Thanks for the continued great work!

Is TV naming case-sensitive for season and episode 'S' and 'E'?
Woola posted a topic in General/Windows
Hi, can anyone say whether TV episode numbering is case sensitive please? I've recently switched from OS X and Plex to Windows 10 and Emby (such a relief!) but all my current TV episodes are named in the following way: Show - s01e01 - Name of 1st Episode Show - s01e02 - Name of 2nd Episode ...etc. I've named them this way for trivial reasons I guess; that being I prefer how the lowercase 's' and 'e' look for season and episode, over the uppercase 'S' and 'E'. I've read the official wiki which explains how to go about naming TV shows and the only example of this way of naming shows the uppercase version only, before season and episode numbers. Will my shows still be searched and catalogued properly by Emby if I leave the 's' and 'e' lowercase? Many thanks.- 4 replies

Hi, I have tried a couple of tools to set the Metadata on my TV shows and looking through the Release and Added dates correspond to their air date. However on the Home screen 'Latest Shows' they are not in order of release or added date. For example looking through the first six shows I have shows from 2017-Present/2019-Present/2018-Present/2008-2014/1973-1978/2014-2016/2001. I have removed and re-added the library but no change, all my Movie sections are correct. Any suggestions ?

So I've been using Emby off and on for a while now on my Android TV, for the past several months I've been using it as my only source after finally abandoning Plex. The problem is, recently my anime (mkv files) no longer have time controls, like skipping ahead, rewind, resume from xx:xx, etc. My regular movies and TV recordings (mp4,avi,etc) have no issues. I've tested these same anime episodes on my phone app (Android) and via the browser and the time controls all work without issue, it's only the TV. On the TV I switched it to using external player (VLC) and I can skip, pause, resume, rewind etc without issue as well. What happened to the TV app? The server and TV both update automatically to the newest build/apps when available; is the TV build broken or something? How can I fix this?

Just updated to 4.0.2 on my Nvidia Shield box and now Live TV channels will not tune-in. The Shield just shows a spinning blue circle and if I try via a browser, I get the message 'No compatible streams are currently available' Tried removing and re-adding my HD Homerun, no change. All channels seems to be detected and are listed. Guide is populated. Anyone else experiencing this or any ideas please.

HOW TO: Configure Steam Big Picture & YouTube TV with Emby Theater
Aussiedroid posted a topic in Windows & Xbox
I have a fairly simple setup on my lounge room media center PC. Emby Theater primarily with Steam Big Picture for games & occasionally use YouTube via a browser for streaming content. I've been looking for a while to find a way to better integrate these separate programs with Emby Theater to avoid falling back to using the dreaded mouse or keyboard & found the below solution works well for me. Firstly, this process assumes that you have a controller connected to your media center PC. If you use Steam in your lounge room already then that is likely not an issue, but if you were only looking to add YouTube then you may need to include one, or find another option via a programmable remote or something similar. Emby supports controller inputs natively so your controller can be used to navigate your media too when not playing games! The setup instructions below will cover installing & setting up both Steam Big Picture & YouTube TV together. Feel free to skip what you do not want. If you do not want one or the other simply remove them from the Emby controller profile below. In theory, this should also work with any other 3rd party app or web based sites like Netflix you may wish to call from within Emby Theater. How does it work? Basically, this will setup a small batch file script that will run on your PC & will trigger on a button press mapped to your controller. When triggered, the batch file will close Emby, then load up Steam Big Picture (or YouTube TV), then when you finish & exit/close, it will re-open Emby again seamlessly. It uses a program called Controller Companion to integrate the switching between apps, with an improved profile for both Emby & YouTube TV to give you full control when these apps are active. No profile is needed for Steam Big Picture as this has full controller support already (just exit as normal to switch back to Emby). What will you need? - 10-20mins of time to configure & test. - Text file editor (such as Notepad or Notepad++). - Web Browser (such as Google Chrome). - Controller Companion software (this is available direct via Steam for a few $$$ or can be purchased here: http://controllercompanion.com/ ). - Free command line utility called NirCmd (available here: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html ). Choose 32bit or 64bit depending on your OS. - Download ZIP attached to this post (below). *There are alternatives to Controller Companion, such as XPadder, which may also work with this setup. I like Controller Companion though as it is simple/automatic, allows control of Windows via the controller when nothing is running & crucially can map running a batch file to a button press.* A - Preliminary Setup: 1) Extract the download zip file to C:\Emby App Switcher\ (you can change this to any location but will need to update the batch files to align) 2) Install & Set Steam into Big Picture mode (When you exit make sure you exit Steam and not exit Big Picture mode). 3) Set Steam to remember your password so it will log in automatically. 4) Install Controller Companion (Steam is not required to be running for CC to run in background). 5) Open Controller Companion Settings -> set it to run on Start Up, Disable Show Balloon Tool-Tips & Disable Play Sounds on Disable. 6) Go to Profiles tab & Import from file, the two profiles from the downloaded zip (one for Emby [Electron] & one for Chrome). 7) Install Google Chrome (as needed). 8) In Chrome, load up the link (www.youtube.com/tv) & follow the instructions to register the web app with your Google account. Authorise & Exit. 9) Go to the link & download NirCmd. Extract this to the same location as your .bat files. (If not in the same folder it will not work!) B - Configuring the Batch files: There are 2 bat files for each program (total of 4 bat files) which contains the code to perform the application switch. Loading the file in Notepad will present you with this: EmbySteamSwitch.bat: @[member="Echo"] off taskkill /f /im electron.exe call "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" start /d"C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater\system" Emby.Theater.exe goto :eof EmbyYouTubeSwitch.bat: @[member="Echo"] off taskkill /f /im electron.exe call "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" -kiosk http://www.youtube.com/tv start /d"C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater\system" Emby.Theater.exe goto :eof - Edit the application paths for Steam & Chrome to your local installation folders. - Update the Emby Theater path to include your local username (ie replace <user>) - Save all files & close. Note: Chrome is forced to run in 'Kiosk' mode. This will prevent the browser from exiting full screen mode. You can also change -kiosk parameter to --start-fullscreen which will start the browser in full screen mode but still allow you to switch out of it while its running via F11 key (say if you wanted it to be used as a standard browser function too). You may need to modify your Controller Companion profile to expand the browser controls if you want this. The other two bat files named SteamLauncher.bat & YouTubeLauncher.bat are the files you will run linked into the controller profiles to call on the above bat files. These utilise the NirCmd utility downloaded earlier. NirCmd has one function only, and that is to hide the DOSBox/Command window from running in the background during the switch. nircmd.exe exec hide EmbySteamSwitch.bat Gives the whole process a cleaner transition. You should not have to edit these bat files unless you have renamed the other bat files above. C - The Controller Companion Profiles: The Emby CC Profile has two main buttons to perform the switching. This is the Guide button & the Start button as seen in the image below. I have also enhanced the standard controller mappings in Emby to add button controls for Volume, Skip Forward/Back, Next/Prev Track & direct Play/Pause. The default keys remain unmapped in the profile to ensure it works with the built in controller support in Emby. Note: If you have moved the install folder location from C:\Emby App Switcher\ you will also need to update this in the Emby CC profile at this point to map the Guide/Start buttons accordingly. The YouTube CC Profile contains all the keyboard mappings available for the TV app. It also includes Windows Media Controls for Next/Prev video, volume controls & allows for integration of the Virtual Keyboard wheel that is part of Controller Companion for quicker text input. To exit out of YouTube TV, press the Start button on the controller (same button you used to enter YouTube TV). I've been testing this out for the last week & the solution seems solid, but if you encounter any issues please let me know. Hope you find this helpful! EmbyAppSwitcher1.0.zip- 3 replies

I have the "LOST" series; 120 eps. but only about 40 are actually showing in Emby. In 3.x it seemed okay. Alot of the IMDB info is wrong, but previously I fixed those manually, but now seasons and eps are just not displayed. They are not visible in the metadata library either. I've removed and put back the series but have the same results. Emby should read any usable video file and add it even if metadata is invalid or missing from other sources. Similar issue with STNG season 1---- 1 ep/but all eps show in metadata as ep 1 (manually fixable). Please advise, Thanks.

Was just trying out a little live TV on the main PC, watching via Chrome, were it transcodes, and ET, where it direct plays, and in both (and I think on other devices like Fire TV) picture and audio are out of sync. This is on Windows using Nextpvr plus plugin. Would logs help with any possible diagnosis ?

Live TV no longer showing up in paid/unlocked Android TV app
darrenledermann posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Hi, Some time ago I paid to unlock the Live TV functionality of Emby's Android TV app. After the switch to version 3.6 and then 4.0 of the server, the Live TV functionality has been disabled in the app. I understand that the model changed and now we can't get Live TV through the web app (or any other way) if not using an Emby Premiere subscription, which I'm upset about, but can comprehend. TV guides are not available in my country, I provide the guide data through NextPVR and don't care about DVR, so the old model used to fit me fine (it just never made sense to me to subscribe to Premiere due to these limitations, and were the reason I chose Emby over Plex when implementing my tuners in Chile). However, I did pay for the unlock specifically for the Live TV functionality and now that feature has been removed. Given the above: is there a way to enable just Live TV (no DVR or guide or stuff) for use on the Android TV app, or can I ask a refund for my app purchase? I'm aware that it was a small fee and I'm not getting any richer if I got a refund, but I am upset about specifically paying for a feature as promised, that has later been removed arbitrarily. Also, are there plans for a "lite" Premiere subscription for users that cannot access the full fledged features (such as TV guide)? Thanks and regards, Darren -
Nvidia Shield w/ Samsung TV (2016 model) and HDR = too dark?
jblaze12 posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Synology 1618+ on Emby 3.6.0.84-1-beta TV is mid-level 2016 Samsung (sorry don't have the model # on hand) Nvidia Shield (latest updates etc) So far all non-4k-hdr bluray rips I've created work very well. I have the hdmi 1 set to accept uhd color, the shield set to auto passthrough (I believe) the correct settings and in emby auto everything, plus the tv picture settings set to the uhd (but turned off the "hdr mode" which I read was just like an emulation of the hdr, it appears more washed out with it enabled). I think I read my tv doesn't do the 2020 color space and the result is a darker image. I try and lower contrast and increase brightness but it appears a bit washed out. I have a feeling purchasing a new tv that is fully hdr ready will solve this issue instantly but that is about a year away. I am collecting 4k movies now not even so much for the bumped resolution but the beautifully-rich color enhancements (for some not all transfers). Is there anything to be done in emby or the shield to help mitigate this issue until I can buy a new tv? I don't have many 4k hdr movies and don't plan on collecting a ton (just a select few I rewatch, dark knight, infinity war etc) but it'd be nice to enjoy them right now instead of the (still good) blu-ray rips I've already done. -
Hi, happy new year to everybody I was just wondering, how do you guys manage shared universes/series cross overs in your library? For example DCs Arrow-Universe. I've all the shows in my library, but currently I've to manually look up in which order I've to watch them. Is there a feature in emby that can help me with that? Can I merge these shows together in a set like I can with movies? Can I create a smart playlist based on the air date of the episodes? Is there any other way to watch spin-offs/crossovers in the correct order? How do you do it in your private library? Has anybody developed a system/workflow for this?

Hi, couldn't find find this question anywhere, so here goes. For several months now, I've had this weird navigation problem. Unfortunately I don't know exactly anymore, when this was introduced. Currently the App reports itself as: AndroidTv 1.6.62g Running on: Sony KD-65XD7504 The Problem is as follows: 1. Navigate to any TV show episode overview page (the one with chapters and actors and so on). 2. Visit any sub page like going to an actors page or starting the episode. 3. Upon pressing back, or having the episode finish playing, the overview page is displayed again. However, I can no longer navigate using the Arrow keys. Only after returning to the main menu or the "Season N - Episodes List" navigation Focus is restored. I work around this, by using the episode list view in seasons so i'll only have to go back 2 steps to select the next episode. My NVshield does not exhibit the same behaviour. Unfortunately i have no idea where to begin debugging this, so any help would be very much appreciated. greetings

Was wondering if there was a way to enable the channel numbers in the Live TV Channel guide on android? I have a lot of channels, searching them hangs up the server and scrolling through them I can easily get lost as to where I am in the lineup.

Just wondering if anyone can spot a reason my scheduled TV guide update isn't happening. Am still using NextPVR plugin. NextPVR app updates at 21:40 and Emby (should) update at 22:00, but it seems to be taking approx 0.009 sec and not getting very much... Pretty sure this said 'Last ran 1 hour ago, taking 0 seconds' like 10 minutes ago (see logs) - and Could possibly be a one off, will have to see... embyserver.txt

Don't think this feature exists, if it does can someone please tell me how to go about doing it? I would like to limit Live TV channel availability to specific users. For example if I have 10 channels, user 1 can access channels 1-4 while user 2 can access all 10. I know I can manually select available channels for all via the HDHomeRun but its an all or nothing solution.
