Hi All, I'm sure I've seen this brought up some time ago, but I couldn't find a topic in here. I was wondering if in the future it will be possible to use the Auto-Organize feature on movies, as well as television. I love being able to add television shows to my watched folder and have MBS take care of the renaming and organizing. Having a similar feature for movies would be great as well (as some other users agree, from what I remember of it being discussed in the past). I don't remember what the developer response was to the possibility of this feature, this is why I'm making a new thread for it. Thanks, Patrick

Hi guys! Just bought some philips hue lights (still waiting for them to arrive), and then I got this thing in my head: What if MB3 could controll these lights and make them change color based on the backdrops (picks 2-4 points in the picture to reproduce that color, like the philips app does) Automatically dims the lights off when a movie start, and turn them back on when the movie is finished. (when externalplayer closes / when MBT stops playing). This would be super cool, and would fit MB3 very good! There is also alot more we could do with this, with pre defined scenes etc.. What do you guys think?

I had to rebuild my media server. So I started this Emby build on a new login through Windows 8. I have it installed and have mapped out some media libraries. But it won't scan. And when I mean won't scan, I mean it fails 0 seconds. It never even tries. I was used to this working slow before or only getting 23% usually, but eventually getting done, but now it doesn't see any folders because it actually never scanned. Any thoughts? 10-20-15-1429 log.rtf

The trouble I am having is with MB Server, currently on Version 3.0.5070.20258 (but this has happened on at least the last 5 updates of the server and It just happened this morning while updating from 3.0.4936.24198) When I "restart the server to apply the update" from the web interface it hangs the webpage and when I reload it throws the "cannot find page error" I am doing this from my laptop via firefox, but the same thing occurs when going to the configuration page and restarting from the configure mediabrowser server link... I then go into the actual profile that runs the server and I see the following errors: -These Happen before I get to the server to manually restart and clear popups- "Unhandled Exception: Only One Usage of Socket Address (protocal/network address/port) is normally permitted" -This comes up in 4 separate boxes at each update and restart "Error Attempting to Update Application FileNotFoundException could not find file: 'C:\Users\MediaCenter\AppData\Roaming\Mediabrowser-Server\system\ionic.zip.dll' Then I clear those boxes, the splash creen comes up then disappears, and throws the following popup box "There was an error launching Media Browser:Could not load type 'MediaBrowser.Controller.Drawing.IImageProcessor' from assembly 'MediaBrowser.Controller, Version=3.0.4936.24198, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'." at the same time it throws the popup: "Unhandled exception:The calling thread cannot access this object because a different thread owns it." -After this I hit ok, then it appears as though MB3 Server closes as the process is gone and the try icon disappears, -I start the server from the start menu and it loads without an issue... Hi! I'm running the server on a Core i3-3.2GHz with 4MB RAM. It has been running fine until recently. Now, the MBT, MB Classic, Win8 App all fail to load the images of the movies. Interestingly, only the images of the newly added movies and TV Shows are not loading, and the old ones are loading. Also, all the clients have become slow, and frequently give error messages. BTW, the Windows Phone app seems to be working fine! Could this be because my library has become too big to handle for the server with 4MB RAM? Please help!

I searched around and couldn't find anything on this issue, so hopefully I'm not repeating something. I am running a i7 machine with WMC, MB3, ServerWMC, Hauppauge Colossus, and using ROKU3. I just downloaded the new MB3 BETA, after dealing with the Norton Security issue, but still have this issue where when I try to change channels via my ROKU3, it reverts back to the home screen. When I check the Servers, the previous channel is still streaming. I don't have logs right now, but can add them later. I was hoping, though that someone knows how to deal with this. If I reset the tuner via MB3 and WMCServer, it becomes available again. After this, I can then choose any available channel. The log basically shows that the tuner is not available. Hi there, I am using kodi and am using the most recent release of mb3. All of my movies can be played from file on kodi, but if I try and play them from the add on for mb3, it says that it is unable to connect to server, but the movie will start and then time out. All of the information in the configuration is correct, ie. the server name, ip and password. I can not figure out why it is timing out. I also have the files set up as per the instructions \\servername\movies\moviename.

I desperately need an .exe or RAR of 3.0.100.0 ASAP. Without going into great detail, it's the most stable I've seen. I've now lost use of MediaBrowser3 on all but 1 pc and luckily it never updated. The rest have issues such as NOT finding the server and NOT playing the content, pointing to a read error on the part of Windows. It's not my codec, I checked. It's not my network, I checked. The weakest link is MB3 post 3.0.100.0 in my specific circumstance. Any chance I can get a copy or download some place?

Please post a tutorial or link for setting up the android app to stream outside your local network. The app asks for the dhcp address of 192.xxx.x.xxx and I assume port forwarding on a home router for forward on that internal ip / port number or is it external ip / port number. -Looking to stream over cell network to android phone but not sure the port forwarding and ip settings for the app and home router port forwarding basically. Any assistance is much appreciated.

Hello all, I am yet another new member to the community - I read about MB3 for about 5 minutes and immediately became a lifetime member - I think it's a great tool and I can't wait to see where things go! In the interest of a brief background, here's my environment: - Windows 7 x64 running Windows Media Server (using Ceton cards on Verizon FIOS) - sending live and recorded TV to several XBox 360s around the house (works great) - large movie collection sitting on network-attached storage device (mapped as drive M: on server) - 99% of the movies are in .vob format (due to size of collection I have no interest in any sort of conversion) - no music or photos to worry about - just installed MB3 a little while ago (installed Cover Art and Rotten Tomatoes plugins) My use cases are as follows: 1. Use MB3 to present movie collection to a viewer that's sitting in front of the media server and big TV - once a movie is selected, have VLC take over and actually perform playback 2. From other PCs located around the house, use MB3 to browse movie collection and once again have VLC take over once the play option is selected 3. Transcode movies from MB3 to XBox 360s I have been all over the forums, but I'm still a little unclear on feasibility as well as procedures to try and set up my use cases. From what I've been able to discern, folks are using VLC on PCs for playback, but I can't get it to work to save my life. I have the VLC option enabled under options in my browser, and even when I click on "Play" - I get the option to play from VLC, but it just won't start. I have created the direct mapping, but I'm stuck. I have VLC open when I try this as well. Am I missing something? Is it possible to launch VLC from the web client or is that a non-starter? My search results for watching movies on the 360 are all over the place. Some threads give the impression that it works for some (with a few caveats), others suggest that I should set fire to all of my 360s and buy Rokus. I know the 360 is a million years old, but it's sitting there serving up live and recorded HD programming brilliantly as well as playing oldie but goodie games, so I'd love to pursue the holy grail of getting my movie collection on them. I've done my best to search FAQs, Wikis, and other areas, and I fashion myself as a competent user, but any guidance would really be appreciated! After I get any of this figured out, I'd be happy to submit a write up for the appropriate section. Thanks (and apologies - ha) in advance! -
MB Server incorrectly parses titles for shows based on dates that also have 720p in the title

Hi, I couldn't find this issue when searching so I hope it's not a duplicate. Scenario: I have some shows that make more sense to organize by date than by season/episode numbers. My formatting rules also append the quality to the end of the show title. For example: Some Daily Show - (2014-09-14) - Show Title Here - 720p Expected: MB Server determines what episode this is using the date Observed: MB Server uses the 720p at the end to determine that this is episode 720 of the show and therefore shows the wrong information (usually none), places it in the wrong order (it's usually all jumbled and at the top) and is generally confusing. I've been using MB since MB2 and shows processed by that have metadata from that time frame show up correctly, it just seems that MB3 is parsing the titles incorrectly. Is this a known issue? Is there either [a] some way to fix this or have MB Server ignore the 720p at the end? I remember that MB2 would ignore text in square brackets [], is there a way to add values to this list of text to omit (assuming MB3 does the same thing)? Does it do this omission before parsing the titles for episode information? Assuming this is still a feature, it might be helpful to have this functionality surfaced in the Server configuration. I have followed the instructions on github and from the plugin catalog I click on the desired plugin and the screen indicated in github never appears. It just sits there and never loads selected theme. Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

Hi all, So I think I am going to be in the market for a new system. Ultimately I want to go full on dual-processor server with at least 24 bays for media drives and all, for way more than just media browser, but the cost point for that server puts it out of reach at this moment so I am thinking of a new desktop box that will initially serve as only an mb3 server with 2 MediaSonic 8 bay towers attached to it for the media (already have those). Since it will be sitting in the basement on my server rack and serving out media only over GB LAN I am thinking the focus should be on a good processor and lots of RAM. My question is what processor and how much RAM. Media access is through an HTPC (direct), Samsung BD player (direct), Samsung TV with app (direct), 2 tablets (direct and transcoding), 4 smart phones (transcoding), and a partridge in a pear tree My real intention is in about a year I would buy a real server, retire my current desktop, and move this new machine up to replace my old desktop so I would be putting a good video card and whatnot in it then and would only want to buy what is necessary for use as a media server right now. Thoughts would be appreciated Thanks CrashKelly

I predominantly use MBT for all of my media now, and I've noticed for a while that it seems to be missing a small feature that I found useful back when I used MB2/MBC: "End Time" I liked the fact that the details screen for a given title would tell you the length of the title, as well as what time it would be over if you started it now. I know it's just a small feature, but it was one of those little things that I noticed I was missing when I switched to MBT. I know MBT is going through a major re-write right now, but I just thought I'd throw the idea in there, to see if there's a possibility of this feature being added to the current incarnation of MBT, or into the future release. Enviroment: Windows 7 box = running MB3 Xbox 360 = Windows Media Center + MB3 Classic Plugin. Issue: Size is off when viewing content. Not sure how to resize? Currently can Full Size the frame but it cuts off the edges. Not sure where adjustments are at? MB3 Classic Configuration or is it in the MB3 Server configuration? Many advance "thank you's" for replies.

After an update awhile back my MB3 on my ROKU 3 no longer will list movies with the .mkv extension. I was wondering if there is an easy fix I'm missing or if someone else has had a similar issue with a solution.

I have a few categories for MB3 that I use and have been able to configure them with the same settings as I had in MB2. One problem. After I set lets say "Movies by Name" with the configuration tool, Index and set it to Year. It puts the files in folders by year. Exactly what I want it to do. Once I close out of media browser due to server restart, pc restart.. and go back into that category. I get the default view again. This also happens with movies with the Genre category. Any ideas on how to make these changes stick? Best Regards, Kab

My GENRES work with my Movies, but not with my TV Shows

Why do my Genres work with my "Movies" folder, but not with my "TV Shows" folder? This was working perfectly for me with "MB2", but unfortunately I had to upgrade to "MB3" because my "MB2" software was corrupted. My setup is listed below: I use "Media Center Master" (MCM) to fetch my metadata, images, and subtitles for my Movies and for my TV Shows (so I have turned off all downloads for "MB3" in "Configure Media Browser"). I have added two media folders to my "Media Library" in MB3. My folder "M:\Movies" has the Folder type = "Movies". My other folder "T:\TV Shows" has the Folder type = "TV shows". These two folders are on two different mechanical hard drives (HDDs). I made my own custom Genre names, and I added my own choices for the Genre images. Each Genre name is in its own folder with the selected Genre image file named "folder.jpg". These Genre name folders are sub-folders under [C: > Users > PaulD > AppData > Roaming > MediaBrowser-Server > ImagesByName > Genre]. I use "MB3" as a plug-in for "Windows Media Center" (WMC). WMC correctly shows all 32 of my Genre names and images for my "Movies", as shown in my attached file "Movie Genres.pdf". Movie Genres.pdf But, WMC incorrectly shows only "GlowGaze.Com", "Sports", and "Thriller", as shown in my attached file "TV Show Genres.pdf". TV Show Genres.pdf MB3 correctly shows all 32 of my Genre images for my "Movies", as shown in my attached file "Movies Genres in Media Browser.pdf". Movies Genres in Media Browser.pdf But, MB3 incorrectly shows zero Genre images for my "TV Shows". -
I have was wondering a way to easily access the MB3 server from the web without a <ip wan address>:8096/mediabrowser I could do a no-ip or register a domain or something. Just wondering what works for others or if the server could help generate a url for users, etc.... Looking for advice?

I had a thought, the new updates to the configuration interface are great but maybe someone with extra time on their hands could create a dashboard thats not tied to an internet browser for viewing, editing and configuring. Then link that view to "ctrl M" as a shortcut, otherwise it remains hidden in the notification area of the taskbar much like it does currently. Also I would think repeated button presses of "ctrl M" should do nothing outside of bringing the window to the top, as opposed to opening multiple windows of the same configuration. Again its just a thought.

I am new to Eventghost but would like to try setting it up to when I press play in MB, as the movie starts the lights also dim or turn off. I have a SmartLinc which currently controls the lights in my HT. Has anyone tried this and care to share their setup. Or any help with a start in the right direction. I note that there is lots of help on the net for another popular media center. Thanks for any suggestions.
