  1. Hello As stated in the title the playlist function in the Roku app gives no indication whether the item is played or not, unlike the web, windows theatre or android versions. Please could this be included when the app is next updated?
  2. I restored my emby backup that was created via the server configuration backup plugin. Playlists are there, but empty which was not the case when it was backed up (first image). I'm also getting two different sets of playlists. One set are .m3u files that exist on my server and appear when ai click Home > Music > Playlists (Second image). These are properly populated. The second set (empty as described in the problem above) is reached from the Home Screen > Playlists. (First and second image) . Does anyone know what is going on?

    Playlist and Users

I have Emby installed from Standalone and setup to run as a Service, that's all working fine. Emby is installed on a D: drive because I didn't want to fill my SSD with emby stuffs, not knowing how big it could get. I live with Me and Two housemates, and have 4 users setup, an Admin user, My user, and my two mate's users. Now, I am referring to Emby users, NOT windows users. The issue I am having is when I create a playlist under my user all the users see it and can edit it. All google shows me are posts on how to actually share playlists, when in actually, I don't want to do this. What I am trying to do is have each of us (on our own Emby user) have our own private playlists. How do I do this? Thanks.
  4. Hi, I have two questions about playlists; 1. Is it possible to block playlist creation by regular user but keep admin powers for the feature? 2. Is it possible to make the playlist only visible to the creator user? Thank tou so much.
  5. So - a search turning up old threads seems to suggest this did not used to be possible unless I go through and start merging files - which would be highly impractical to do across an entire pre-existing video collection. I figured I would ask if there's a good way to do this now that isn't editing a ton of files. Setup: I have a (largely old TV) media collection It's not uncomon for me to do rerun-shuffling Many shows have "Part 1" "Part 2" "Part 3" or even "Part 4" continuations. I would really like to set it up so that when I shuffle a TV show (or a library, or a genre, or whatever), if it hits one of the multi-part episodes, it plays through all the parts sequentially like it was one long video - always starting with Part 1, without me needing to go through and edit every multi-episode plot in my collection to merge the files. I'm good with renaming some files or manually editing my NFO files after scraping the normal episode data to make it happen. But while I don't mind renaming a few hundred files to make it happen across my library as I could do that on a couple days I'm not busy, drawing it out to one every hour or something while my computer processes videos for months would be an insurmountable barrier to doing it. So like: https://thetvdb.com/series/stargate-atlantis/seasons/official/1 If I go to shuffle Stargate Atlantis, as I often do - Emby would ideally treat "Rising" 1 & 2 as just "Rising" (in playlists, in playback, in season view), and then I could just use the metadata from "Rising (1)". Is there a way to do that through Emby in 2022, or is that still unsupported?
  6. Maybe this is a bug, maybe it's a setting that's causing me problems. I don't know. Hopefully someone can lend me a hand. So - often when I am going to be gone for several hours, I turn the Android TV on for my dog. He stays more calm if I leave the TV running. I've got several playlists that should each take several days to complete, full of reruns, or movies, or what have you. But sometimes, (like today) I come home, and everything is just *off*. I have no idea when it suddenly shut off, or how long he was sitting here agitated and the like - but it does explain why when I checked in on the pet camera while I was in the maternity ward with my son a few hours ago, it looked like he had gone to sulk by the door or something rather than relaxing on the bed like he usually does when the TV is on while I'm out. He may have also howled bothering the neighbors, that's been a thing that happens when I dont run the TV when I'm gone for a while in the past. Hopefully not this time - but in other houses I've had neighbors complain about him howling when I leave him alone without the TV on. I tried to access the android logs per the instructions, but I hit an access denied when I went into Android/data. So I don't have any logs at the moment. If it's a bug and you need the logs to help figure out why it's happening... I dunno. I guess I'll have to get an old laptop hooked up to the TV and set up a network share and use VLC or something for the rest of the week and try to fix it before the next time I need the TV to work when I'm not home I guess. But I would prefer to not have the dog panicking in the house while I'm at the hospital. So if there's a way for me to fix whatever is going on and make it stop happening on my end and you know the cause (like if it's some sort of Netflix style awful-shutdown-timer - but one I can disable) - please let me know how to fix it. Thanks

    Emby Playlist Maker

Hey guys, Adding and creating playlists in Emby is a long and nerve-wrecking process, but with this tool you can add m3u8 playlists made with other media players (e.g. VLC) to Emby. I'm not a good coder and this tool is in an early state, if you could give me feedback, that would be great. To get the tool working, read the Readme and if it still doesn't work, you can ask me here and I try to answer. I hope someone will find a good usage in this. Playlist Maker.zip
  8. I have a playlist with a lot of video music in it, and from time to time new video music is added to the playlist. Now I want to start playing from the end of the playlist and then play the second to last. Hope to add reverse order play to the playlist.

  10. Can we lock the movie order in a playlist? I want to make a MCU movie sequence, but anyone can change the order in it and i need it to be always the same order.
  11. I have created some playlists of music and downloaded them to my android phone for when I am not at home. When outside of the server"s network the music is there, but the playlist is not accessible. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks
  12. Hi, In order to find easily an item in our large librairies, it could be great to have the possibility to import a playlist from imdb/trakt. This way we could easily create playlists like 10001 movies to see before you die or Academy Award for Best Picture for our current movies in our libraries. Bonus : List all missing movies for a specific playlist I found a script doing this for Plex but can't find how to adapt it for Emby or a way to import Plex playlists to Emby I hope someone will find this useful and want to help implementing this.
  13. I have just started using the Emby apps installed both on the Chromecast with Google TV and 4K Fire Sticks and am loving not having to cast from my iPad anymore! However, I'm still trying to figure the best way to organize all my various content. Upon reading through the forums about collections within collections and how it seems like that may never happen (no idea WHY that would be so hard....), I found some other users that were assigning Playlists to Collections as an alternative and have done that a LOT. Unfortunately, when I browse the Collections and pull up a Playlist --- the playlist has no content -- there is nothing there to select/play. If I go directly to the Playlists tab to open the playlist it works just fine. This totally defeats the point of using the playlists as sub-collections and, thus, puts me back at square one. Is this expected behavior? Is there any chance it would ever be fixed? Thanks!

    Video playlist limit

I created a video playlist with 1,552 episodes. I want to be able to shuffle through all of the shows on the playlist, but on my fire tv it only shuffles the first 1,000 episodes on the list. Can I do anything to make it so I can shuffle through all of my shows?
  15. So I have a couple of playlist downloaded but if I do disconnect and go to downloads the playlist doesn’t show up. It just downloads the songs, but it would be nice if we could just have the playlist ready to be played and not have to go through all the albums to the songs just to add them up next
  16. Hello, I'm new to emby and very pleased to have found it. But on Android TV there is an issue when adding item to playlist. The buttons to validate the add or cancel are hidden. After test I know that add button is at left side. Nice to correct this. Thank you, Arsounet

Track sync in Playlist - Chrome app

When I use the Chrome app to play music via a playlist on the remote server, the music played has become out of sync with the track selected. In other words, if I select track n°10 in the playlist, it actually plays N°11 or 12. I didn't see anything in the database about that but appreciate that i might be using the wrong tags. Can anybody suggest a work around? Thanks, Steve
  18. Emby for Android Mobile 3.1.20: Wenn starting an audiobook with lot's of files in a playlist, the tracks don't start at the beginning. So, after fininshing one track, the next track start somewhere but not at beginning. I can reproduce it as follows: Start an audio playlist and listen. Stop somewhere - end emby app start emby app Mainscreen "continue listening". Here, only the last file of the audiobook-playlist is shown unforunately but with progress bar. That's why I open this file, click "more-show album and here I start a new playback with the file i stopped. Automaticaly a new playlist is generated. And when playing this playlist, the tracks don't start at the beginning. I don't notice the bug within the webapp. Here everything seems to be fine.

    Photo Playlists

Hello, I'm brand new to Emby. My use case is to provide a way for my parents to view family photos and videos on their TV that exist on their home network. I'm planning on going down the Roku path. I've looked at Plex, Emby and Roku's own Media Player app. Nothing I have found will allow the photos to play as a screensaver (unless on a USB drive plugged right into the Roku), which would be ideal, to turn the TV into a digital picture frame. For now, it seems I'll need to settle for slideshow capability, where the users need to go into an app and actively start displaying images. From my brief testing, Emby seems to be the best option for this, but I have some questions. I started by creating a photo and video library in Emby. The library consists of a parent folder that has subfolders with YYYYMM naming format and photos from each year and month directly in the subfolder. I also added a simple "videos" folder at the same level as the YYYYMM folders for testing purposes and put a handful of videos in there. The first thing I noticed was that I couldn't play all on the library. I got an error. I could pick play all on a folder, but that would obviously only play a slideshow of the photos in that folder. There was no shuffle option either. I see in the basic web client that there is no shuffle option showing when I am inside the library view either. There is a play all and that does play all the photos in the library. In the basic web client, I just found that the ... for a given library object in the library screen does allow a shuffle slideshow of all photos, but I either can't find that in the Roku app or it doesn't exist. As an aside, I just now created a "Mixed content" type library and gave it the same parent folder as the photo and video library. When I navigate inside that library in the web client, it does show a shuffle option. I am not at the Roku right now, so I can't test that library type to see if the Roku app will display the shuffle option. As another aside, the "Play All" function for a "Home videos & photos" type library honors the sort order set for the library. The "Play All" function for a "Mixed content" type library does not. It always starts from the same photo and I'm not sure how it picks that photo to start from. Another side... The "Play All" function when within a folder in a "Home videos & photos" type library subfolder does not honor the sort order set for the folder like it does if you are back at the first level in the library. I set it to sort on Name (assuming this is the filename or title, both of which are the filename for my test cases) and even though the display shows them sorted by name ascending or descending, the Play all starts with the same file every time. Without shuffle being available for the library on the Roku, I figured my next option would be playlists. I thought I could create various playlists of subsets of photos and see if there was a shuffle option for the playlists. If there was no shuffle option for the playlists, I thought I could automate something on the server that would shuffle the order of the files in the playlist file periodically as a work-around. I've hit a dead end with photo playlists, hence this post. I have tried to create playlists through the library browser in the web client and the metadata manger. In both screens, I am able to pick "add to playlist" from the ... menu if I select a photo folder. There is no "add to playlist" option when a photo file is selected, only if the folder it is in is selected. However, the resulting playlist isn't created properly. Here is what it looks like: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <Item> <Added>1/23/2019 12:00:00 AM</Added> <LockData>false</LockData> <LocalTitle>Photos from 2000</LocalTitle> <RunningTime>0</RunningTime> <Shares> <Share> <UserId>1</UserId> <CanEdit>true</CanEdit> </Share> </Shares> <PlaylistMediaType>Audio</PlaylistMediaType> </Item> It is creating an Audio playlist and none of the folders/photos are included. Questions: 1) Does Emby support creating playlists for photos (or videos)? 2) If it doesn't, if I bring in an outside playlist file with the photos listed in it, will that work properly? 3) Where is the metadata stored for the files in a library and is it possible to modify it externally (a script on the server)? This isn't critical, but I do see it has the option to include People information and other tags. I'm not even sure if the UI uses those for anything, but I am just curious. If photo playlist aren't supported either by creating in Emby or by importing external playlists, it seems my only other option is to create multiple folders instead of playlists and: a ) Either hope that the Roku app shows the shuffle option if the library type is "Mixed content" like the web client does or b ) Somehow shuffle the files inside the folders through a scheduled script that runs in the background on the server, and then use the Play all function in the UI, as a work-around. I'm not sure how Emby decides which file to play first with the "Play All", but if I can determine that, I can modify that attribute (filename, etc.). By using folders instead of playlists, I'll have duplicate files various folders are meant to show some of the same files. I can get around the storage implications by creating symlinks to the files in the various folders. I'd need to automate this for it to be practical. I guess I'd end up with my own "playlist" files that my script would use to create the folders and symlinks to the real files. Thanks for any help you can provide. David

    m3u_plus playlist...Newbie

Hi All, Emby Version 4.3.1.0 Using Firefox & Chrome As I mentioned, I'm a newbie to this so apologies in advance for lack of knowledge etc. Here's my playlist... hxxp://mbm.watch:8085/get.php?username=xxxxxxxxxx@@Xxxxx.com&password=xxxxxx&type=m3u_plus The screenshots below shows what I did. As is obvious, I have no clue what I'm doing. When I click the save button I get an error message saying, "There was an error saving the TV provider, please ensure it is accessible and try again." If I hit the search button in the screenshot above I get the screenshot below. I have no idea what to do with that part or if I need to be using that part? Playlist does not play in Emby. If anyone can tell me how to complete the process of putting my m3u_plus playlist into Emby successfully I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any assistance offered. Cheers, Hugh.
  21. When a video file is clicked to display the information (media info) about it, it would be handy to have it also show any playlist it is a part of. There are currently buttons for Play, Played, Favorite, and More, but perhaps a Playlist link can be there. Thank you.
  22. Just like the subject says. All of my albums are listed under Playlists. I did not mean for this to happen and am not sure how to avoid it in the future. I have only created one custom playlist. I would like to delete all the others, but Emby doesn't have the rights to delete the file. The message I get is: Deleting this item will delete it from both the file system and your media library. Are you sure you wish to continue? It then fails stating it doesn't have write access to that directory.
  23. Hey, is hit somehow possible to also use the import feature of playlists for non-music libraries, e. g. for Movies? Thanks!

    Where to find created playlist?

Hey, I created a playlist in a Movie library type. Nowhere except in the Metadata Manager I can find this playlist, making it basically useless because I can't play the playlist e. g. on the Android TV app. Am I just too stupid to find created playlists for my user or aren't those available for Movie type libraries? Thanks!
  25. Hi, To begin, I must say that I am very impressed with Emby so far. I have been a Plex user for years, and just got tired of the lack of flexibility when it comes to music collections. I stumbled on Emby, and it does exactly what it should do. It gives you a simple way to access large libraries of music without making any assumptions about how you have it organized, or forcing you to completely rearrange it. My collection of music is all MP3s, and is organized by genre. I like to have playlists for each genre and listen to them randomly. Emby handles that in spades. It works flawlessly in the web interface and on the Roku. I have run into a small issue that I'm hoping you can easily fix. This happens on both the web interface and Roku 3 (Emby shows it as SG 3.0.193). On the web interface when I'm viewing playlists and select "Instant Mix" option, nothing happens. On the Roku when I open a music playlist, then select the "Instant Mix" button, it pops a "Playback error". This happens on all 5 of my playlists. My workaround is to use Shuffle for now, which is perfectly fine when on the web interface. It just takes a few more steps on the Roku since I have to play the playlist first, then shuffle it. I am running the latest release of Emby Server (4.3.0.30) on Windows Server 2019. Let me know if you need anything else. Dan.
