Hi All. I think I mentioned this a while ago, but it's still an issue. When looking at the music video library, if I select the artist tab and click on an artist play button, it plays a music track not a music video. If I select the genre tab and press play on a genre icon, it may play a video or a music track. Is there a way of making it only play music videos when in the music video library?

Hey Emby Team, I hope this message finds you well. I've been encountering a peculiar issue with audio playback in the Emby app on my primary device, an Android phone (SM-J600G, Android 10). This problem has persisted for about a year, and I thought it's high time to bring it to your attention. Description: The issue manifests when attempting to play songs from my music library. Occasionally, the selected song takes an unusually long time to play, and I notice that the media playback notification doesn't display the image of the selected song. Subsequently, any subsequent attempts to play songs from my music library fail. Strangely enough, the tracks, albums, or playlists that I attempted to play during this issue spontaneously start playing later when I'm not using the app, or when watching movies or shows. Observations: Selected song takes longer to play. No image of the selected song in the media playback notification. Behavior: Unable to play any song from the music library when the issue occurs. Version Information: Emby Server Version: 4.8.0.63 beta Emby Android App Version: 3.3.56 (latest pre-release) Device Information: Model: SM-J600G Android Version: 10 Steps to Reproduce: Launch Emby app. Select a song from the music library. Observe the two signs mentioned above. Additional Notes: I haven't had the opportunity to test this on other devices as my current setup revolves around this primary device. This issue has been persistent since I started using Emby, and its intermittent nature makes it challenging to pinpoint the root cause. I'm reaching out to the community and the Emby team for insights and assistance in resolving this matter. Thanks for your time and support! Best, Dinesh Shrestha

Hello all, Disclaimer: This may be very specific to the way I have tagged my music. In my library, I differentiate between "film score" and "film soundtrack" in my genre metadata as a way of avoiding songs if I just want to hear the instrumental score. This means with releases that have a title song performed by an artist and the remainder of the album being instrumental, they'd be tagged respectively, soundtrack and score within the same album. It's worked great for me so far on various platforms like MusicBee and Plex but I've noticed Emby simplifies how it displays releases by genre. On Emby, if an album has both genre tags in it (caused by perhaps only one song being "film soundtrack") then the entire album appears in both genres. Request: Would it be possible for only the songs on the album with that specific genre tag to appear under that genre in the genre filter view? So it's filtering at a song level rather than an album one? Let me know if that needs explaining differently! I appreciate its quite a niche request. Look forward to your thoughts.

I am no longer to select Folder view when accessing Emby Music Library on LG WebOS. Is it due to the latest update or something I can fix in Emby settings? Please advise...

View Music Videos When Browsing Artists In The Music Library
skidmarks posted a topic in General/Windows
I've been wanting to see music videos when viewing artists in the music library for quite some time. Tried the Music Video plug-in a while ago. It was a train wreck. Mostly because i do not have my music video library structure set up the correct way for it. Emby: "To add music videos, setup a library with the type "Music Videos". The naming conventions for music videos are identical to movies." Translation to me means: One video per folder. With PLEX its one artist and then ALL videos in same folder for said artist. Easy! So with my folder structure being set up Artist/music videos the plug-in failed MISERABLY! IF your music library is set up like mine: Artist/Artist Music Videos i found how to quickly fix the metadata to allow emby to recognize and add the music videos to the correct artist when viewing artists in the music library. At the end of the day i don't care what record, what year, or any of that other information about said music videos. I just want to see what i have while browsing in the Music section. I realized that "all" you need to do is add the "Artist" tag to the music video. Now that sounds simple enough (depending on how big your music video library is), but the meta editor in emby server (as we all know) is not capable of bulk renaming / editing. I found a program called "TagScanner". With this nifty little gem i was able to add the %artist% tag to all my music videos by using the %Foldername%! I did my entire library in about 45 minutes. Depending on how big the library is, i got the "This Application Is Not responding" message. But it was working and finished the task at hand without issues. I would suggest NOT having emby running while you are doing this. It will want to read the changes as they are happening. And as always re-scan your library when you are finished. Anyway, if all you want to do is see music videos displayed with the artist in the music library... this may be for you. -
Hi, Even I mentionned the issue in an another topic, I decided to open a separate topic as this issue is becoming more annoying to me. With Plex the same library, same albums are recognizing OK as it should. I am running the server on Debian, latest stable version 4.4.2.0. All id3 tags are OK, "album" id3 tag is correctly assigned per CD or per multi CDs. If many CDs in an album, each disk is numbered as 1/3, 2/3, etc... Something is not working right with emby scanning, so decided to ask for help and report this issue as possible bug. File structure (in some cases) is as following: artist/ album1/ track_1 track_2 ..................... track_n album2/ CD1/ track_1 track_2 ........................... track_z CD2/ track_1 track_2 ........................... track_x CD3/ track_1 track_2 .......................... track_w .................... CD100/ track_1 track_2 .......................... track_y For artists with such file structure, only album 1 is correctly recognized. In case of album 2, there are non-sense results, different results with no logical for me behind. For ex the name of album 2 is randomly assigned as the name as CD4 (or name other number) and all tracks inside, after first scan have several track1, several track2, etc. What is annoying, after several scans I see the results are "improved" - and this happened at least in one case: all tracks inside that crazy named album, are renumbered from 1 to what ever is the last number, keeping of course the initial, ridiculous order of 1,1,1, - 2,2,2, etc... I see this in case of Bach 171 CD complete works. I give here a very simple example, to understand better the issue. Artist: ABBA Album: \ABBA\The Albums [2008] (9 discs!) Please see bellow the name of the album emby "think" it is about and how all tracks, saved in their respective folders are all put together under this wrong album name - "The Album (2006, CD 5 of 9)". Please find check bellow the album name for two of "track1": And I have many other similar examples. What is even more annoying (as this is an exception), if there is only one and only one subdirector (as album box set name for ex) with several subdirectors (albums) emby get them right. BUT, if there are many subdirectories under an artist, and if an album have more CDs, the scan is going totally wrong... If this is not a bug, please advise if there is a faulty setting, i.e my fault, and how to fix it? Thanks

Hi Folks... what I am about to say will upset few people I am sure, but my goal is to give honest feedback, and it is not meant to be criticism directed at people responsible for the Emby Theater, as I am sure they are doing the best they can, but may be need direction from actual users. So, you can consider me as a die hard Windows Media Center users from the days it was Called MCE (Media Center Edition) of Windows XP... this must take me back to 2003.. OMG OK. We all know that Emby Server is the BEST, and Emby Classic is (was) the best way to watch movies... that's a given.. So, I am not going to talk about that part of Emby Theater. I will focus on the activities that every WMC user engages in when not watching movies in order of importance... First: Music. Most of my use is Music.. I am sure everyone feels the same.. when having friends round, when doing things, when reading, when just pottering about.. we listen to music... So, I started Emby Theater on Windows 10 and server 4.3.1.0 with WMC remote control. (no mouse or keyboard insight.) So, I click on Green button... nothing happens... ( i was hoping Emby Theater would come up...) never mind, i dig out the mouse and click Emby Theater icon.. and it starts. I choose my music library, and I have around 2500 albums.. it starts smoothly... nice. I choose album view, and immediately think... why are they wasting all the screen real-estate... only two rows of albums with all that empty space in between... they should copy WMC and make it slide from side to side... it makes a lot more since as it will go in a circle when you hit the end. I selected an album, and chose song no.3 from that album... it started fine. I then moved into another album to choose a different song and add it to play now Que.. I could not find a way to do that using the remote. (on the mouse, you can right click, but the mouse is on another side of the room) OK... then i though i will forget about this, and view by year and play all songs from that year... No way to do that... in the meanwhile, i got phone call, so i pressed pause on my remote, after the call ended.. i pressed pause again to play... nothing happened... i had to press play which started the whole thing again from scratch.. What the What... OK... so, i played through the songs, picking from my library, and thats when it started skipping songs, jumping between songs, etc etc.. my frustration level hit 10, and I did a Control Alt Delete and got rid of the damn thing. Also I should mention, during this very basic testing.. it froze once with the circle in middle and I had to restart, and I lost the sound couple of time, even when the progress bar was still working... Generally.. I got the feeling that the Music part of the software is still in early beta, with the most important functionality still missing... I have a feeling i will be scared if i try the Photo and Video option, which is the most important when people come round... I am hoping by writing this, i can improve the software, as currently, I can only stay with WMC, and if Emby stops supporting it, then I have to find another Media Browser.. Best of luck.

Would be nice if both Libraries match with artist name. I tried to link them with Collections but I had to add music albums one by one, if I grab the music artist to Collections nothing happens... Automatic join by album artist name please.

I recently installed FreeNAS emby plugin 4.2.x.x and defined existing Movie, TV and Music library's. Everything scanned in as expected with all media showing on my Home screen as 'Latest Movies/TV/Music>'. I marked all media content in the Movie, TV and Music library's as played and all the Latest... categories except for the Music category were removed from the Home screen. Even though I have marked all the music content as 'Mark as Played', in multiple ways, the Latest Music category still shows on the Home screen. My expectation is that this category would behave as the other categories and only show the latest 'un-played' content for that library. Please confirm that the expected behavior is as stated and if so are there any fixes for this bug. Thanks...

So I'm a new user for emby and I loved it right from the start. It's easier to use than all other media servers. However, I noticed a couple problems 1.With reading music tags I have a vast collection of music files, and I arrange them in folders. I have complete albums in a single folder, and singles in another folder. However, when i added the files to Emby, it was a mess. (See screenshot to understand). It was super frustrating. Note that Kodi and Plex read the tags just as they are. 2. Emby on Kodi I love Kodi. As a result, I always connect Kodi with my Media servers (and if they fail I use Kodi as is.) However, it's drag to get emby to work well. For instance, I have episodes which have VTT subtitles. Since no player apart from VLC can be able to show VTT subtitles, I have added it as an external player. The problem is that after I'm done playing the episode, the watched status changes back to unwatched and if I visit Emby on a browser, the episode is unwatched (mark you i already watched it). Those two are the most pressing.

Hi, An annoying one this.... For some reason Emby downloads the TV Show theme songs (can't see anywhere to disable this, just stop playing via the web UI). What I don't understand is that the theme songs for TV shows are appearing in my music library so occasionally it'll play 30 seconds of some awful programme my wife watches (e.g. real housewives of New York etc!). My music library and my tv show library are in completely separate folders (first thing I checked) so I can't see why any theme songs downloaded would make it into my music library too. When I go to recently added music albums, loads of theme songs appear there. Either removing the theme songs from appearing in my music library or better yet, turning off theme songs from downloading will suffice! Thanks in advance, Kurosh

Virtually ALL of my music is available through my Emby server, including all my songs that were purchased through Amazon Music. I also have hundreds of other music albums on my Emby server. Amazon just announced that at the end of April, 2018, they will no long permit future uploads of personal songs (not purchased through Amazon Music). Therefore, none of my personal songs will be available through Alexa except those that I have already uploaded. I've enabled the Alexa Emby skill and I've used it successfully to play songs through the default Emby player, which happens to be a Roku 3 connected to my TV speakers. The sound quality is not great for music listening, but that's the fault of the speakers – not the Emby server/player. My Echo Dot is connected by bluetooth to a very high-quality stereo speaker system. Unfortunately, the Echo is not available as an Emby media player. It would be great if Emby could play my personal collection by sending it directly to the Echo Dot. I'm guessing that there are technical issues that would make this difficult if not impossible, or it would have already been done.

I removed audiobook and my library doesnt return even after Refresh Emby playlist/Video nodes Perform manual sync Repair local database (force update all content) Perform local database reset & all above Now theres only 53 song files... I have checked Kodi logs and theres huge file with syncing all files Some info on beggining Ending of file

Hi there My music library sync fails every time during the sync of specific album. Since the sync fails to complete it starts all over again with the 2200 movies 100 shows. (I have cleaned up my database lately) This is with the SMPC 16.4-2 and problem started with the add-on version 2.2.36. Or may be this related with the server since I am on dev branch.
