  1. Hi Team, I would like to be able to force all my content to refresh its metadata regularly, I was unable to find a way to schedule this task. I was also unable to find a way to force refresh entire libraries, attempting to refresh folders that contained local metadata did nothing. The only way I have found to force a refresh successfully is to refresh each title individually, and with a library of over ten thousand titles this is undesirable. If this functionality is already available, please aid me in finding it as I was unsuccessful. If not could this be added? Perhaps a task that can be scheduled to do a forced overriding refresh on the entire library? Many thanks for any help. Cheers.
  2. I detected this several weeks ago but I only had time to report it now. I'm running Emby 5930 (latest stable). Can't remember the exact Emby version when the problem started but since some time now (maybe two months) my library scans went from around 2:30mins to around 12-14 mins. Today I was checking the logs and I saw tons of exceptions while contacting musicbrainz.org since the site is returning a 503 error for many requests from Emby: 2016-04-19 21:32:01.4539 Info HttpClient: HttpClientManager GET: http://www.musicbrainz.org/ws/2/release/?query="(2001)+Just+Push+Play" AND arid:3d2b98e5-556f-4451-a3ff-c50ea18d57cb 2016-04-19 21:32:01.6613 Error HttpClient: Error getting response from http://www.musicbrainz.org/ws/2/release/?query="(2001)+Just+Push+Play" AND arid:3d2b98e5-556f-4451-a3ff-c50ea18d57cb *** Error Report *** Version: 3.0.5930.0 Command line: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe -programdata /var/lib/emby-server -restartpath /usr/lib/emby-server/restart.sh Operating system: Unix 3.10.0.327 Processor count: 4 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True Program data path: /var/lib/emby-server Mono: 4.2.1 (Stable 4.2.1.102/6dd2d0d Wed Jan 13 16:44:34 UTC 2016) Application Path: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe One or more errors occurred. I try to disable MusicBrainz as a metadata source and the library scans are back to "normal", taking just 2:30mins. Is anyone else also seeing this behavior or is just me? I'm not familiar with MusicBrainz, is it like opensubtitles that requires to have a user account to query the site? Cheers.
  3. Hi everyone, first post here so I hope this is in the right area. I just wanted to share a bit of an idea to gauge interest and opinions from the Emby community. Myself and a few friends are all loyal Emby Server users but have always had the problem of having to manually manage metadata for content we like to have available on our media centers, but is not indexed on The TVDB. This is content along the lines of: Sport (WWE, NBA, UFC) Adult films Training and course videos (CBT Nuggets, Linda, Khan Academy) Youtube videos / channels Music Videos Unfortunately with the TVDB's policy on some of the above, we have had to manually produce the metadata and generate our NFO files. To remedy this, I had thrown together a database / API and developed a quick and nasty scraper that would retrieve the data from our DB and generate the NFOs for us. This has been working quite well for us but unfortunately the metadata still had to be added and maintained in the database by the handful of us using it, which has now lead to the idea of making a more public database/site/api that everyone can use and everyone can contribute to. The idea, outside of what we use ourselves currently, is definitely in its infancy but it would essentially be a DB for everything else. So with that said, I thought I would just put this out there and see if there was any interest in the Emby community for an additional indexer/database.

    Metadata \ Art

Hi, Just a couple of questions regarding metadata and artwork. 1. I added a show early to my collection, it scanned that it all fine, but when it did so the show did not have a thumb on fanart TV, it has since had a thumb added but I can't seem to get emby to pull it in, I have done a refresh, and even an identify and replace all images, but still no thumb. When I do edit images and select thumb, it doesn't show any options, despite it now being shown on Fanart.tv. I have confirmed the tvdb numbers match. Couple of questions in relation to that. a. How do I manually pull in the Thumb, without downloading and uploading it? b. Will Emby eventually pull in missing artwork automatically, like thumbs or anything else, if they become available online? 2. I have just done some reorganisation of my Movie collection in the hope it will help with Library Scans, I had all my movies in a single folder, I have now sorted them into year subfolders. After emby did a big rescan it seems to have had issues with year folders that only contained a single movie, is there a setting to make Emby ignore the folder name and old search based on the file name? Edit. 3. Just noticed another oddity, I have a folder "Pirates of the Caribbean" which has all of the movies, rather than see each movie, emby has created a single movie in the database "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" will all three movies listed as Video Tracks, this might link to the above, but how do I go about fixing it? Thanks, Wob
  5. I was using 3.0.5934.0 and metadata was being added when new episodes were recorded. Emby updated to 3.0.5970.0 and now metadata is not being added, have had to fall back on MCM to add metadata. This is Windows 7 Pro x64. Kodi 15.2. Kodi add on 2.2.10. I am attaching the latest log. There are quite a few other logs I can provide if necessary. Can someone please help! Thanks for reading! server-63599605206.txt
  6. I currently have my Emby media stored across multiple drives. When initially setting up Emby I read here on the forums that is preferable to have direct file paths set and then use the path substitution feature, I think it was to allow for direct playback. All is working well this way but now I need to replace the hard drives, I would like to do this with fewer, larger capacity drives which means some of the media cannot be in the same location as it was before. Is there any way to change the file paths of certain media folders but retain all of the downloaded meta data for those files. For example on Plex this was achieved by adding the new file paths while keeping the old ones, forcing a re-scan whereby it would match the old metadata to the new file locations, then removing the old, now obsolete, file paths. I believe if I had my metadata stored as NFO files in the media folders this would be possible? However I do not do this as I prefer to keep my metadata on the solid state boot drive for better performance as the media drives are not constantly spinning (the server auto sleeps). Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.
  7. Currently running Windows Server v3.0.5968.0 As of I believe just before the 5960 beta release, I noticed all of my movies had lost their critic ratings. Previously there were 2 ratings on the details web of the web UI (note this is a movie that has had a critic rating added manually as an example) But now I can only see the IMDB rating, or 'Community' rating. If I open up the metadata via 'Edit' - i can see that the 'Critic Rating's are all blank (these were all previously populated, i know because I am OCD with my metadata) However, if I look into the 'movie.xml' files of my media, most of them indeed have a Critic Rating entered Now I know I can do a 'Refresh' at the top level of my Movies folder - but I want to understand why they went missing in the first place and how we can prevent it from re-occuring? Any ideas? Thanks
  8. I was updating my movies' metadata today, and noticed that I no longer had a "Sort Title" category. It was simply gone...??? It's possible (probable) that I did something unknowingly that hid it, but I have no knowledge of what that may have been. Can it be un-hidden"? Restored? Can anyone help? Thanks!
  9. I recently installed Emby on a clean install of Windows 10. Before I pointed the Library to my media folders I made sure to check the box for "Save artwork and metadata into media folders." After looking in the folders it appears this worked for TV but not movies. At least there are pics and such in the TV show folders; nothing for the movies. I looked in the Metadata Path listed on the Server dashboard (C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\metadata), and there are hundreds of nested folders in there with random titles that each have poster, backdrop, logo, etc. pictures in them. I have close to 800 movies, and it took several days to go through the process of picking each picture for each movie thinking it was saving the metadata to the folders. Before I go through all the work to move all of those files, is there some way to make sure that all metadata for any movies I add goes to the right spot? Is there something I missed in the Server settings? Thanks
  10. I've added a zipped log file that I believe contains relevant information to the problem. server-63598003200.zip I am using my HDHomerun Prime tuners to record TV shows. I tried the work-in-progress HDHomerun DVR but was not happy with it, so I'm continuing to schedule and record shows using the Emby Guide and built-in recording capabilities. I'm using Windows 10 and all my media files and artwork are stored on a large external drive (local – not NAS). I have created a folder (Named HDHomerunDVR) on the drive and set it up in the Emby Server Library as the root folder for my scheduled recorded TV content. Normally, this works as expected, especially when recording a single TV show. However, sometimes – (frequently) when I set up a TV series to record new episodes, Emby creates a path K:\HDHomerunDVR\Series\. Within that path, it adds show named "Batman: The Animated Series," and then adds another folder with the correct name for the show I'm recording. In the attached image, the actual show I recorded is Limitless, and it obviously has absolutely nothing to do with Batman: The Animated Series. (I have no interest in an animated Batman series and have no idea why this is happening.) In addition to placing the show in this Series path on the hard drive, Emby is also putting another copy of the show in the expected location, which is K:\HDHomerunDVR\Limitless. All of the correct metadata is in the folder, together with the mp4 recording of the show. So... I end up with the recorded show that I wanted. However, when I look for it on Emby Server, things get confusing. The correct thumbnail for the show appears under the Latest tab, but show also appears as a thumbnail with the mysterious Batman folder artwork. I can manually verify that there are indeed two copies of the recorded show, delete the unwanted copy from the Batman folder, delete the Series folder, rescan my media library, and the problem is TEMPORARILY fixed. However, having to do this manually almost every day is a little much. I haven't included any log files as yet. I have no idea where to look in the logs for this particular problem because the actual recording process is completing normally. Any help with getting rid of this annoyance would be appreciated.

    embedded metadata not showing

Hello, I am a new user who is testing Emby. The issue I'm having is that I cannot figure out how to get Emby to display embedded metadata from movies. The movies are in MP4. The cover art, long description, cast/crew info, etc. is not showing. The only metadata I can see is a short description. Emby for Windows Version 3.0.5912.0. I attached a Log file to this post: Log.txt
  12. Hi, I'm writing here to try and get some help into an issue, I'm running an Emby server application running in a CentOS linux machine as described in the subject and I'm experiencing an issue with the metadata images since the first day I installed it. I tried playing with the firewall and I was not able to solve the issue. Below you can find a screenshot of the problem followed by the log: As you can see a big part of movies are missing their images. I went to the log file of emby and I found that a lot of exceptions happen when it tries to download the files from the providers, here you can find the log: 2016-05-01 00:00:00.3706 Info App: 13. Hi guys, I have quite a Bluray Collection, both movies and TV shows. When I rip my blurays, I like to keep every little extras present to have them accessible in emby. (btw, my english may be a little weird, sorry, it's not my first language) For movies, everything is quite simple, you put them in the "extra" folder and voilà everything is at the right place. TV shows have little more complexe extras (or specials). You have episode extras, like deleted scenes, reminders, promos, episode specific making of, etc. You have season extras, like special episodes, making of, gag reel, comic-con events, etc. You have serie extras, a bit more rare, but some additionnal extras present on complete show boxes. When a TV show as specials episode present in TVDB or other DB, you can use the episode code S00EXX to make it fetch and synch infos about that extras. However, alot of (I'd even say most of) the bluray extras are not included in TVDB so you have to edit the metadata by hand to make them appear at the right place in the different client interfaces. You must edit the "airs before season", "airs after season" and "airs before episode" fields and save each metadata one by one. I was wondering if people have beter/faster/more automated way to do this? Is there something like a REST interface to modify metadata? Can you modify .nfo localy on your file system and propagate to emby these changes?

    Metadata location questions

Quick questions, I will file any feature requests or followup with any troubleshooting needs in other posts as needed. 1) From what I've been able to determine, the chapter images and roku images are saved in the cache location, or if enabled and specified, the custom metadata folder location, correct? Are these ever saved with the artwork and .nfo files in the media location if that setting is enabled? 2) Where are the subtitles saved if the subtitle downloader is enabled, cache correct? what is the naming convention on those, are they hashed or folder hashed and the .srt is named the same as the media file?

    Duplicate Upcoming episodes

I'm just curious where the Upcoming feature gets it's data from? At least once a week, a show will show up twice in the upcoming list. Same episode number, name, channel and date of airing. It's not consistent on which show though. I checked thetvdb and there's not duplicate listings there. Note the double Danger Mouse below as an example.

    MCM resetting metadata

I have one movie in particular that I've had to set the custom rating because it erases the metadata every day. I even unchecked the box for the Parental Rating to lock the metadata from being updated. I've recently locked all the metadata to prevent any problems, and it erases my changes the same way. To troubleshoot, I tried changing the actual parental rating from Approved to G (instead of adding a custom rating), and it seems pretty consistent that every morning I wake to it being changed back to Approved. I've also seen movies that have their metadata locked erase the sorting name. I'm on Version 3.0.5921.0
  17. Hello folks, I don't know exactly if this is a bug or a feature but.... here it goes: When I get into the Report view, I notice that ONLY the original Parental Rating field appears (and can be filtered). As lots of media comes with wrong (at least for me) parental classification, I use a lot the custom parental rating field. So this way I can control much better those ratings. Can't you make the report show de custom parental rating instead of the original, in cases it has been filled? Now that we are here (Report View), I'd like to suggest you to let this screen REMEMBER the last filter and order configured. Every time I get to that screen, I have to reproduce the same steps to always disable the same columns, or create the same filters. AT LEAST the viewed columns could be rememebered.... what do you think? Thanks!
  18. Hello guys. I've noticed that in the TMDB query for TV there are two problems: 1. Parental Ratings is not being returned and used. 2. My country's metadata is not being queried (I use pt-BR, working OK for movies) Today query: h t t p://api.themoviedb.org/3/tv/1988?api_key=###API_KEY_HERE####&append_to_response=credits,images,keywords,external_ids,videos&language=en&include_image_language=pt-br,null,en Correct query: h t t p://api.themoviedb.org/3/tv/1988?api_key=###API_KEY_HERE####&append_to_response=credits,images,keywords,external_ids,videos,content_ratings&language=pt-BR&include_image_language=pt-BR,null,en Thanks!
  19. Hi Emby Community, I went through the forum, but did not see anything similar. Sorry if it had been already answered. I am using Emby (3.0.5913.0) on a Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64-bit version. I also use Kodi linked to Emby. I really like it, it is full of potential. My Library is made of 2 folders, one for Movies and one for TV shows. Each folder are on the same drive. Here is how my folders are organized. / -- Movies ----- Movie Title (Year) ----- Movie Title (Year) ----- Movie Collection -------- Movie Title (Year) -------- Movie Title (Year) ----- Movie Title (Year) ----- Movie Title (Year) ----- ... -- Series ----- Serie Title ------- Season 1 ------- Season 2 ----- Serie Title ------- Season 1 ------- ... I have Movies/Series in different languages I added the path for both folder in Emby. I set up Emby to fetch the metadata and create xml and nfo files and put those files next to the film. Same for subtitles and Images. However I cannot see any of those file on my drive. All movie folders contain only the movie file, no nfo, xml, artwork... The other day I spent hours customizing the display Title, Primary image, Backdrop... It looked as I wanted things to look like in Emby Web Media window and in Kodi. Today when I launched kodi the primary images, backdrop and movie titles had switched back to what it was before I customized everything. Same inside Emby. Movies with a non english title are renamed in english even though the file name on the HDD is not in english. For some of the movies it changes the information, it will fetch another movie information. I have installed Emby and kodi. Installed fresh, took hours to reset everything for Emby to again overwrite everything. I have the same problem for my TV Shows. My question is why Emby does not keep my custom images, names and decides by itself to overwrite everything I do? Is there a way to customize or Emby does everything by itself? Thank you everyone for your help.

    Sub Library

Hi all, so, here's an idea, I'd like to have all my TV in a TV category.. Funnily enough, that all works perfectly.. However, i'd like to be able to go "into" my TV library and see all my TV shows, as i do now.. but, for example.. I'd quite like when I go into a Star Trek item, for it to open up a sub-category, with the same kind of home-screen that TV gets.. I can get the category/library for Star Trek, obviously, by creating a new library.. but.. then I'll end up with a top level menu/navigation of: Kids Movies, Kids TV, Movies, TV, Star Trek.. And the reason - probably obvious - for this is that there are multiple star trek series', like TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, original... Plus there's: - Stargate, - Breaking Bad, - Life on mars, - probably a MILLION others So, my thinking is, you open up TV, and you get all the shows.. except, for the sub libraries, you get 1 item, perhaps with an indicator to show it's a sub library ... You enter that, and it gives you the same kind of home screen (based on type) as per the parent library, e.g. with a random item, favorites, next up, resume etc.. As a file structure, it could look like: \TV\Normal Series 1\Season NN \TV\Normal Series 2\Season NN ... \TV\Breaking Bad[subLibrary]\Breaking Bad\Season NN \TV\Breaking Bad[subLibrary]\Better Call Saul\Season NN \TV\Life on Mars[subLibrary]\Life on Mars\Season NN \TV\Life on Mars[subLibrary]\Ashes to Ashes\Season NN \TV\Stargate[subLibrary]\Stargate - SG1\Season NN \TV\Stargate[subLibrary]\Stargate - Atlantis\Season NN \TV\Star Trek[subLibrary]\Star Trek\Season NN \TV\Star Trek[subLibrary]\Star Trek - Deep Space 9\Season NN \TV\Star Trek[subLibrary]\Star Trek - The Next Generation\Season NN \TV\Star Trek[subLibrary]\Star Trek - Voyager\Season NN I know you can have a similar structure supported in terms of the file system, dropping the tag and marking Breaking Bad/Star Trek etc as TV.. but then in the TV library, all seasons show up as their own item, not collapsed into a single parent item... I also assume that the tag in the folder name is probably considered a legacy mechanism.. it would be neater to have an option in the metadata manager to "create sub library" or something.. and then add items to it... similar to, though not identical to, collections.. a bit close to how collections used to behave ... bit again, still different..
  21. Hello, I'd like to make a feature request for this great KODI-Plugin. (Perhaps the devs can add it to the trello-board so we can see the user acceptance?) In the classic KODI-setup you let the indexer create a database with much metadata. So you could browse your Library and lookup some meta-data (fanart, plot, trailer etc.). Which is working perfectly fine in this new promising setup with emby and the emby-kodi-plugin. BUT: if you used (classic KODI-setup) "VIDEOS->Files" to access your media-library via filesystem-structure you were able to request the metadata of a file that was previously added to the media-library via the context-menu (even you are in the file-view). So what I'd like to see in a future version is either beeing able to browse the library via filesystem-structure or better: if I add the folder of my media-library to my KODI (manually in VIDOES (no indexer)), i'd like to have the possibility to get the metadata of a file if it is in the emby-library. I know that will be not as easy as it sounds, because the emby-library is "harder seperated" from the "file-view" of KODI than its own library. But perhaps someone has an idea how to restore that (classic) feature in the new way of using KODI with a central mediaserver. Greetings jabba80 edit: first suggestion by myself: perhaps it would be a comparatively easy way to save a key-hash in the nfo file in the media-folder which links to the related emby-database entry? But would the file-view mode be able to evaluate this relation?
  22. i have been attempting to get my EMBY server to find the correct information for anime titles but seem to be having problems. At first i was able to manually select the information but it would not add it in to the files after that i realised that i was adding what was actually the second season but would normally be listed as a different name, this made emby recognise the files and download a picture but then called the correctly names folder season 1 and used the first season picture (The same one as the root folder art) i do not know if i have entere the information wrong or if it is something else but my files are listed as such. EMBY >Anime >Freezing (this one has a correct picture) >Freezing Vibration ( have also tried (season 2) (Season 2 [Freezing Vibration]) both with no effect. >OVA (Uses the same picture) (is listed inside the season 2 folder it will add them to the season list.) What i would like to know is if there is a way for emby to pick up the information and input it and if there is a way for it to recognise OVA normally and not think they are normal season episodes Most of the anime that i have added so far worked normally and found all of the info
  23. I can't seem to get changes to the Album Artist metadata to "Stick". When I edit the field to add another album artist, and press "Save" (in the web-based Metadata Manager), then after a second or two, the field changes back to its original entry. Other fields seem OK - edits will take effect. What am I doing wrong? (server 3.0.5675.1) Edit: it's definitely caused by the fact I'm trying to add multiple Album Artists. I thought that this field was planned to have multiple values?

    How to Re-scrape Metadata

How do I re-scrape my movie metadata? After upgrading my drive to SSD and restoring emby via the Backup plugin, the actors' pictures are no longer showing on the movie info page, just the names and the generic icons show. How do I fix this please? If I want Emby to scrape metadata again, how do I do this? Thanks.
  25. Is it possible to, when you're in metadata manager, if you change some settings in a media folder, it appplies on everything inside the folder during refresh? e.g. I have set english and USA as my default language and country for metadatas. While everything is in english, I like to get the overviews in a different language (french) for my movies. To do so, I go to metadata manager, click on the movie folder, change the language for "french", uncheck name and genre (because I want to keep english genres and english titles) and I click save. Then, I refresh. The expected result should be that only titles and genres stay in english while everything else is in french on all movies inside the folder, which is not the case right now. As of now, doing this would just ignore the specific selections and modify everything in french. It would be awesome to have this feature!
