  1. Poster Overlay GUI A simple Windows Forms application that allows users to add 4K Ultra HD Banners to their movie posters. About: Firstly, I know that we have the coverart plugin but I prefer having a cleaner look with multiple options for my 4k library. I started making this app a few weeks ago with absolutely zero knowledge in coding, this entire project was built through using chatgpt to guide me into building, modifying and editing the code through lots of trial and error. I'm more than open to suggestions to improve and or add to the project (such as more banner options etc). Features: Choose from multiple overlay images (4k Ultra HD, with HDR, with DV, With HDR and IMAX and with DV and Imax) Preview the combined result Save the resulting image as a new file How to Use: Download and extract the PosterOverlay_v1.0.0.zip file from github. Run the PosterOverlay.exe file to launch the application. Click on the "Select Poster" button to choose the base image (poster). Use the dropdown box to select an overlay image. Preview the result in the main window. Click "Save Poster" to save the resulting image to your computer. Prerequisites: .NET 6.0 Runtime is required to run the application. Please download and install the appropriate version for your operating system. GitHub Link: https://github.com/pejamas/Poster-Overlay-GUI
  2. Hello everybody, I have installed Emby on my Synology. When listening to music in my car, I open the emby App on Android Auto Wireless using a Wireguard VPN. I am able to connect to the server and also to play songs etc...However, the entire Artwork (Albums, Artist etc.) is not showing up...When I turn off the VPN, the Album Covers will show up in Android Auto. Album Covers will also show up when I use the "normal" Android App on my Phone (not using Android Auto) with VPN... So it looks like it is an Android Auto - VPN Problem only....Any idea how to fix that problem? Android Auto using VPN: Android Auto without VPN: Thanks a lot! Best, Benny
  3. Not quite sure how to categorise this one. Setup: x86 server running Emby Server on Ubuntu 16.04 Android smartphones running the Android client Chromecast connected to a Sony TV When the Android client is connected to the Chromecast, but no media is currently selected, it goes into an idle mode where it displays background artwork (screencaps, posters, etc). I would like to disable this background artwork. I am typically logged into my own personal account which has access to all media, and no age-rating restrictions on content. The reason is twofold: When I want to watch my own things, and my child sees Peppa Pig artwork, she gets demandy about watching 'her' shows When I'm watching with the kids, and some artwork from a horror movie comes on, the child is disturbed by the imagery Please help, my wife is getting quite annoyed with me.
  4. Can someone please explain to me how to get Emby to read my song files' embedded album art properly? I have every setting turned off metadata wise except the "Song image fetcher-embedded image" one. That way it only pulls the images from the art I have put into the mp3's metadata. In one folder, it only reads a couple out of the literal hundreds. 98% of them remain imageless. I cannot get it to take the image In another folder, it sees that there is an image, but extracts and displays the wrong one. I have scrubbed the mp3 file several times, the only image within that file is the correct one. Emby's settings are turned to where it can only get the image from whats embedded in the mp3. WHERE is it getting this incorrect image from? I cannot get it to actually use the image I want. It is also worth noting that every other program I have that can read these files sees all the art properly. Only Emby seems to fail at it.
  5. I've run into several instances where a season of a show doesn't have a cover I like, or in some cases no image at all. Usually, I can find a replacement image from either the main series or different season that is suitable. But to do this I either need to temporarily download the image on the series or season so can grab it and place it in the right season, or search for it myself. It would be far less cumbersome if I could just pull from whatever image associated with the series. I made a graphic on how it could possibly look.
  6. I was wondering if implementing this feature could be a possibility eventually. Considering the option to change the version of a movie is so tiny, I'd like to be able to have the poster change whenever choosing the different cut of a movie such as Apoc. Now with the 10,000 cuts it has. I understand I can split apart the movies but this ruins the look and flow of my set up imo and I personally think the ability to change version posters would be neat. I also realized that the information such as length, rating, etc are based on the original release of the film and don't change when selecting another version. Thanks for all the hard work regardless! I attached some photos of an example of the change aswell.
  7. Just wondering if anyone else has asked this, I searched for a while but didn't find a topic. Anyways, how do I get the artwork in emby to respect parental controls? If I go to playlists and choose genres, it the artwork for each genre shows whatever movies it chooses and doesn't respect parental controls I have set. So my grandmother for example can see the movie posters for movies that she's restricted from watching but then when clicking on the genre it doesn't show the movies there. See the screenshots below for an example.
  8. I am changing my home Emby server from an Ubuntu based .deb package installation to a Docker setup. I did not realise that you could keep all the metadata, images and subtitles in each Movie or TV Show folder. Is it possible to wave a magic wand and copy all the current metadata, images and subtitles (gathered over the years!) to each of the Movie or TV Show folders when I install Emby using Docker? I guess this is Docker independant and it would be best to do this operation before the change to Docker? /var/lib/emby/metadata/ --> /srv/storage/Emby/Movies/Movie Name (YEAR)/Movie Name (YEAR).nfo etc I await your magic wand. Paully
  9. Hello, Recently, I've been trying to script some bulk editing of the NFO file in my Emby Library. This was mostly just a fun project for myself to learn more with Python. Currently my biggest issue I'm running into is trying to update the video NFO file to use a new Poster. Whenever I edit the NFO file lines: <art> <poster>/config/metadata/library/37/3776ebd48296df86690cc5c678d8814e/poster.jpg</poster> </art> to something like: <art> <poster>/config/my_posters/MoviePoster.jpg</poster> </art> Then try to update the Metadata for the video in Emby, Emby will overwrite the poster data back to the original value. A couple notes on how I've set up my system. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with Emby installed inside of a Docker Container. The media is stored a ZFS file set up across 3 mechanical hard drives and mapped to Emby via docker The Emby program and config files are on the SSD and mapped to Emby via docker My goal was to have the NFO and Posters on the SSD while the media files could live on the much larger drives. Currently, the NFO files live in the media folders (which means they are on the mechanical hard drives). I'm okay with keeping the NFO files on the mechanical drives. I was hoping to keep the loading times down on the thumbnails, but it's possible that the NFO file has to be accessed before loading the thumbnails so I might be shooting myself in the foot. Also, I am aware that it's probably overkill keeping the thumbnails on the SSD, but I really prefer my system to be as snappy as possible. (I have thousands of videos in certain directories, so any optimizations can make a difference). My main questions are: Is there a way to update the poster via the NFO? Or am I doing something incorrectly. Do you think NFO files on the mechanical disks would bottleneck the posters enough to the point where keeping the posters on the mechanical disks wouldn't matter? Thanks for any help you can provide, and sorry if I posted this in the wrong subforum
  10. Hi, I just recently updated my Server to the latest 4.6.4 version and now my primary artwork is no longer displaying for an album. I was storing all my artwork as such "../{Artist}/{Album}/folder.{ext}". It was displaying prior to the update. As you can see from the images, the album folder clearly has a primary image, but Emby just can't read or just doesn't recognize the "folder.jpg" image in the album folder. Did you guys change how the artwork is loaded? Does Emby not recognize "folder.jpg" as the primary artwork anymore? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  11. I upgrade to MB3 Media Browers Classic from an older Media Browser. Mostly having problems with T.V. shows like the The Office (American), it has never downloaded the artwork. But with MB3, it still didn't download artwork or most but did downloaded a lot of incorrect episode names, artwork and descriptions for some. I manually deleted files out of the folder where the movie resides but that didn't change anything. Where can I fix this and how can I set it to grab the correct metadata and artwork. I label all episodes in this fashion - Show/Seasons/S01E01. Any help would be appreciated. Love the new design!

    Artists tab and Artwork

Where do i start with this... 1 - The "Artists" tab. I been using several media stream servers and they dont have this tab, why? Because under this tab is usual very very messy business to deal with. The album artists tab contains the main artists therefore is simple to manage the artwork. Under the artists tab, instead of just one main artist, for example Michael, youll have some like: Michael ft Nina, Micheal + mango, michael & romeo, michael with chicken nugget, michael, steve and the list goes on. So youll find that the main artist has artwork but the rest need some serious manual editing. So with this in mind, just for the sake of organisation and make the library look good, please add the option to perhaps hide this tab if its that useful to others. 2 - Artwork Someone pls tell me how Emby reads artworks from tags. I did not set Emby to look for artworks on the net because this usually does not end well as quite often i would find incorrect picture put on wrong album artist. All my music are organised but i figured some artwork are embeded to mp3 files and some are just in the folders. With other media stream servers all my mp3 have artwork, with emby, only about 60% have artwork.
  13. Seems like this gets brought up a lot and there doesn't seem to be a step by step guide, so I'm asking again. I just set up Emby to handle music files only (any other setup tips would be welcome) and had it sort through the library, it's been a few days since then and it's still not displaying embedded artwork, so I don't know if I missed a setting somewhere or not. So to go through the motions, here's my step by step. I've manually combed through all of my music with MusicBrainz Picard and mp3tag. I have correct tags for everything, and most importantly, correct album cover art. On a different thread I read that there might be some confusion between id3v1 and id3v2.3, but looking in the extended tags in mp3tag, there's nothing with duplicates that should cause any confusion. I'm pretty sure I have Picard set to erase all the metadata and only rewrite it with new values, so v1 and v2.3 should be identical for everything, and was for the few albums I checked. Installed Emby, a crucial step. When setting up the music library, I turned off all metadata providers. The library settings, with the advanced options, only has real time monitoring enabled. Everything else is unticked, with "Automatically refresh metadata from the internet" set to Never. Library scan. No or incorrect artwork shown. For having the metadata and all providers disabled, it's still finding a few album covers, which are noticeably different from the embedded files, and mp3tag only shows the single image I've put in. Did I miss something? There's no obvious tick box in the library setup saying "Read embedded metadata"
  14. I saw a similar post to the problem I'm having although what Im seeing is a little different. This occurs every month or so- the primary image/posters for movies and TV shows are being replaced by the backdrop image or fanart image or simply blank. The weird thing is the posters and backdrops are still in the media folders (along side the movies) just as they were when they were imported into the library. In regards to artwork, I see these lines repeadetely (not sure if that's indicative of something) 020-03-03 11:08:47.891 Info HttpServer: HTTP GET https://olivepi.tv:8920/emby/Items/204386/Images/Primary?maxHeight=347&maxWidth=231&tag=f6a09058430cd17c3c9849264e7270fe&quality=90. 15. Just installed Emby (Nice media server by the way. I like it better than Plex which I've used for years). I use a flat mp3 library structure. My mp3 metadata is all customized using Mp3tag V3. For the most part, the fields Artist, Album artist and Album are identical, i.e., the name of the artist. (Don't ask!) For artists that have a lot of songs, I do break out the songs into their respective albums by inputting the album name into the album field. I never use metadata scrappers. Mp3tag allows one to input album cover artwork. I can have one image for the artist and various images for the various albums and the artis as well as album images show up using Windows Media Player, iTunes and Plex. In Emba, there are no album artists or artists images showing up. But once you click through to the actually mp3, the album artwork shows up. So I'm adding artist images manually to the Artist/Album Artist icons and, although tedious, it works. Here's the thing.... I'm going to be replacing this old desktop with a nice new desktop (well a re-furbished old one if the truth be known.) My concern is that I get Emby all looking great on this computer and when I install Emby on my new one and setup the path to my music, these manually uploaded images will be nowhere to be found. Hopefully, they are all stored somewhere in a local folder that if I locate and copy over to my new computer, presto! Done and done. Where are the uploaded artist images located exactly? I've poked around and found what appears to be all my album images in Username/Appdata/Roaming/Emby-Server/programdata/metadata/library.

Emby for Kodi settings do nothing

On my Nvidia Shield... Since updating Kodi to 18.5 and Emby for Kodi to 4.1.16, none of the EFK add-on settings do anything. For example, nothing happens when I click on the "Repair Library" option. Also, when starting Kodi, I no longer get the little pop-up that says, "Welcome user". Everything worked just before the updates. Another ongoing problem (the reason why I wanted to repair the libraries) is that artwork goes missing for a lot of the TV episodes so I periodically have to repair the databases. Its been doing this since the last couple of releases. How do I troubleshoot/fix this? UPDATE: I solved the issue. I use a scheduled task to run the Emby Server updater script and I run Emby Server as a service. Apparently, Emby Server automatically updated just hours before I manually updated Kodi and Emby for Kodi on the Shield box. The Emby Server update did not get fully installed because it needed to install an updated version of the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable package. This cannot be done until you logon to the Windows server. Simply stopping the Windows Emby Server Service and starting the Emby Server EXE auto started the update of the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable package. Once it finished updating, Emby Server could once again fully start.
  17. Recently moved (from Windows 7 server) to a shield pro platform with 2 external usb3 drives on one usb port. Finding Plex works well there but Emby has been particularly frustrating. Periodically the 2 usb drives spontaneously (perhaps upon load when moving files to it) dismount and are un-available. Powering off and back on the external drives (drives only not the shield) remounts the drives and re-instates the shares to the network. After the power back on... plex sees the drives and media folders and works normally but Emby server (4.30.14) can't see the media folders and associated artwork. All artwork files etc are fine on the external drives... Emby just doesn't see them. Is there a fix without rebooting the shield or Emby Server process? Seems like a bug to me. Any help is appreciated...
  18. Hi, I recently moved over from Plex to Emby & hoping i can get some help with EPG artwork using an XMLTV file generated by EPG Collector. Im using EPG collector with the 'lookup' tab enabled to gather poster images for Freesat UK. Data is being collected successfully and i have a fold full of fanart. I cannot seem to get this to display in Emby? Update: I have managed to get rid of the block colours under Movie, can get all details and a poster sized image outline, but their is no fanart. If i try to reload nothing happens. When i copy the link address i see this message: "Only 'http' and 'https' schemes are allowed. Parameter name: requestUri"

    Metadata/NFO/Artwork

Quick question! Historically, I've always saved my metadata/nfo/artwork with my media files. More recently I have been experimenting with uploading my content to Google Drive through rclone. My question is, if it would be a good idea to continue saving the metadata with the media files (in this case Google Drive), or if it would be faster Emby experience if it was saved locally on the machine (in this case Nvidia Shield). The main reason I was thinking of saving it on Google Drive was because I will most likely have to update my media files as I expand my collection. For example, if I currently have a 1080p file and eventually purchase and upload the 2160p version, I will need to rename the files and metadata files as well as create folders for my content. My primary concern was internet speeds. My download speed is restricted 100mbps and even we are the only users, I wasn't sure if that would be fast enough to quickly load all the images on the front-end Emby app. Whereas if I were to save it locally on the server (Nvidia Shield), I would assume it would be very quick. I will be experimenting with this in most likely a month, but I wanted to get your experiences in the meantime.
  20. Hi, I've had this reoccurring issue for some time. I'll get everything corrected and a month or two later it returns. Basically Emby starts using backdrop images for movie and tv posters. No clue why or why it starts reoccurring after a certain amout of time. I've tried a few different things- I stopped refreshing the artwork automatically once it was corrected. I made sure that I also had a local copy in the same folder of the correct artwork for posters from TMDB - nothing has worked. Has anyone come across this? Any guidance would be very appreciated. Thanks
  21. Right now there is only an option to "Save artwork and metadata into media folders". This is quite restrictive as you either get a whole bunch af files with your movies or nothing at all. You also do not get performance benefits of an SSD with this option selected or if it's not selected you do not get metadata (nfo) files for Kodi or folder.jpg for windows explorer. I would like the option to choose what metadata and artwork to save where and even to both system and media folders at the same time. In my case I would save .nfo metadata file and folder.jpg poster to media folders for Kodi and Windows explorer respectively as well as all metadata and artwork to the system drive for performance and power saving reasons (single ssd access vs multiple hdds spinning up).
  22. Hello, I’ve searched the Emby forums and have found very similar postings but without the clear answer I am searching for. My TV library stores each episode into a separate season sub-folder. So my library folder structure is similar to what is shown below. The parent series folder (Star Trek) has no actual episode files directly in it. Instead, the season sub-folders (Season 1) contains the individual episodes. When Emby goes to work on scanning the library: nfo files (i.e. tvshow.nfo) and image files are populated within the season sub-folders (Season 1). There are no nfo or image files in the parent series folder (Star Trek). As a result, Emby does not display the series folder art work for the series (Star Trek). ☹ As an experiment and to prove my theory: I manually copied a single episode from one of the season folders into the parent series folder and rescanned. Bingo, I got folder art work. So either I’m missing an important setting/configuration or Emby doesn’t support folder artwork for series and season sub-folders. I’m hoping someone can point out the missing configuration or tell me “No, your out of luck” so that I can stop spinning my wheels. TV Library ....Star Trek The Next Generation .......Season 1 .......Season 2 ......etc.. ....Star Trek .......Season 1 .......Season 2 ......etc.. As Always Thank you in advance, Julie

TV shows show padlock = no artwork

I have a yearly paid account and am testing emby as a replacement for the other major player.. GUI and layout i can learn and adjust but after (I think) upgrading to V4 most of my 1000 TV shows have no art work. I have tried several beta versions also and currently on the latest 08. What appears to be the issue is most of my TV shows have a padlock icon in this view. Metadata Manager http://app.emby.media/#!/edititemmetadata.html The few that don't (have the padlock) DO have artwork. I have search and googled for days and can find nothing on deleting/hiding the padlocks. Where/How do get rid of these padlocks?
  24. Version 3.5.3.0 OS: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS hosted in Hyper-V I created audiobook library using Books type for NFS mounted directory with books in m4b format. (NFS is shared from ReadyNas) Books are displayed and i'm able to play them via Chrome and IOS app. ArtWork (visible in iTunes) is not displayed for most of the m4b: niether in chrome nor in IOS app. The only ArtWork is visible is when m4b has more then 1 video stream, which is used for ArtWork. (Those were actually created by mistake). For files with single video stream (as it should be normally) This is confirmed by multiple sample, all audiobooks with 2 and more posters are visible, with one regardless if it's mjpeg or png stream are not visible. I tried to do full rescan of the library - no result. P.S. Sorry, my audiobooks in Russian, not sure if it causes an issue.

    save artwork into media folders

I currently use plex and for the most part it meets my needs but I just started to test emby to see if its any better. so far it seems good. however i have a question regarding saving artwork to media folders. is it posssible to limit whcih artwork is saved to media folders? I have unchecked all except primary (under manage image fetchers) but it saves a poster.jpg and a fanart.jpg. i would prefer just the poster.jpg. also is it possible to have emby save the poster.jpg as folder.jpg? thank you Michael
