Hey all, I have what I believe to be a unique problem that hopefully reaching out to the community here can help me. So the emby app in the win10 store has never worked for me. After install it did not show up in in my start menu so I just left it for quite awhile. Now it says there is an update for it but as it is acquiring license it gives me the error 0x803F8001. If found app data here: C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\Packages\436337Illusions.com.MediaBrowser_77hd5e1v1hqs4 So it's on my system and the Windows 10 store is flawless with every other app. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There seems to be an issue with ¿rendering the last couple of minutes of an episode while steaming to another location. Playback cuts off and I can't get the stream to continue on any time frame. Attached, server log Server log is 61 MB!? https://1drv.ms/t/s!Asn6NNog54FdjIVX35DTwZ8UFJE-Dw Also, see my previous post: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/36884-server-3059850-high-cpu-usage-when-browsing-libraries/ Still not sure if this might be (partially) an new Windows function (probably one of the futures where all so excited about , for anybody remembering the Windows 8.x and 10 introduction mumbo-jumbo ) As a trail I'll start streaming using the latest Pale Moon browser. In my experience one of the most reliable and least resources intensive for the past 5 years.

Dear Developers and users, [a brief background] I follow a RSS feed and from there I decided to update regularly to the beta's that show up. This means that I'm seeing the site and the community a lot less.. There for, when a popup asked for a little feedback I decided that I should leave some. I have been an Emby user since Video Browser back in 2010? I loved it and a lot of my friends had to suffer for it ;-) I stopped updating around version 2_2_9. Now - I think - it's been a year with Emby.. Now I have my own streaming server AND a potential back up for when MS decides to ditch Windows Media Player entirely and push Groove throw our trout’s. But that’s for another post perhaps. I got lot of suggestion etc but I shouldn't lose track of what the initial point of this post should be. I love you guys and girls! Very happy how the developers communicate and the friendly attitude of the community here. I hope you (the developers) will remain able to keep Emby free. I’m about to donate but I got some reservations about that (including the lack of loose change at the moment J ). So, version 3.0.5929.0, all ok, no issues so far. This is my third beta and the only thing that frustrated me even a little was an unexpected database clean-up. A heads up would be nice next time. Take Care, Maximus ‘Max’ Naxsus

Hi all, I've spent many time searching on the web for an answer to my problem and found nothing. Obviously, it is not a bug in Emby so I won't open a bug report. The facts : - I've installed Emby Server on a Windows 10 PC and it worked flawlessly with the browser client for a couple of hours, especially the "Play To" on dlna devices (Samsung Smart TV and Yamaha Amp, both connected to network) - For easier machine uptime, I've installed Emby Server on another Windows 10 (x64 family) PC which is directly connected to TV and amp - When installed, Emby web didn't show my TV and my amp in Play To but found others applications like Kodi - I made a new fresh install of Windows 10 on the machine. Get avast, Chrome and Emby server running : TV and amp were back in Play to (hurrah !) - After doing more software installations on this PC, TV and amp vanished again from play to (argh !) What I tried : - Checked all network config : no problem (and indeed W10 can access and cas to these devices) - Unplugged and plugged the devices and reboot computer - Reinstalled again W10 from scratch (3 times) but never get back my devices in Play to - Installed other DLNA chrome apps for testing : they can't detect these two devices too - All other castable devices are OK from this computer (e.g. Kodi or other browers) - TV and amp can access Emby Server by DLNA from their side - TV and amp are visible on network and I can cast on them from the culprit computer with W10 self play to (from edge or WM) - Installed again Emby on the first computer : devices are invisible The Emby Logs don't say anything about Play to after enabling full debug. I've tried many, many, many things (disabling firewall and antivirus, running the whole with admin rights, plug and unplug devices...) but it still looks like Windows is preventing Emby Server or Chrome from detecting these two devices despite IT can see them. It's really frustrating and I clearly missing something but what ?. Hope someone will have some ideas or the key to this problem

Currently running beta with auto-update with auto-install enabled. I'm running Windows 10 and haven't had any issues until last night. Last night The Walking Dead(Series) and The Talking Dead(Series) didn't record. I checked the scheduled recordings this morning and noticed that I only have scheduled recordings for March 17th. I know Tosh.0 is on tomorrow and should be scheduled to record, even checked it in the guide and it shows as new during the time it should record; There's other shows that should be recording as well and aren't scheduled, for sake of ease and to confirm issues I picked only that show. I tried refreshing the guide, cleaning database, all the scheduled tasks, then restarting the server with no change. I then rebooted the PC and re-tried those tasks with no change so that's when I went into the logs. I'm currently on build 3.0.5903.0, while looking through the logs I noticed Emby is installed in the appdata folder: 2016-03-14 05:15:06.5941 Info Main: Emby Command line: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe Operating system: Microsoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0 Processor count: 8 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True Program data path: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server Application Path: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe I understand that Emby installs to this location, but in my experience programs installed in this location will develop odd issues that cannot be replicated nor corrected. I'm wondering if that's the issue here or something with the Emby build. Re-installing stable version, restoring server settings, will report findings. Logs attached. Logs.zip

WMC Photo Slideshow Replacement for Windows 10
swhitmore posted a topic in Non-Emby General Discussion
Now that the new Emby Theatre is stable, I decided to upgrade my HTPC to Windows 10. The only thing I really miss is having a nice photo viewer. The one in WMC was very slick. I loved the pan & zoom, and the ability to quickly add music and jump right back to the slideshow. Can anyone recommend a good program or app that would replace this? I'm hoping one day that Emby Theatre will have these nice features, but I imagine they are low on the priority list. I'm thinking of trying the hacked method of getting WMC running on Windows 10, but it would be great to move away from it if I can replace it with a supported app. Thanks.- 3 replies

Well hello guys! long time no see me.. hehe. I've been away form the community and mb /face palm, correction emby! my god things sure have changed. I got a bug yesterday and decided to buy the win 8-10 app and setup emby again. And from that moment forward I've been biting my tongue and fighting this thing to no end. I was basically starting from scratch on my setup so I first installed the server, got it somewhat happy then moved on to the app and 4 1/2 hrs later I still couldn't get it to connect to the server. And had arrived at the deshion that it wasn't meant to be. But then I decided to look into the desktop app, grabbed a copy set it up, fumbled around with it some then accidentally figured out how to correctly type in the ip address and it sprang to life. So now I'm thinking it was me the whole time, but that was a bust. no matter what I did it just wont connect to the server, that is running on the same machine as the client. quick rundown of my current setup: windows 10 insiders build 10547 <-- incase it's important both ports emby uses have been opened in/out on both machines router has been port forward <-- wasn't sure if it was needed, but was running out of ideas. the emby helper is fully configured. and providing server link in app, just refuses to actually do anything lots of error logs to reference, here's 2 that stood out. This fist one ended Fatally (which was actually one of the last ones logged), the second one just errored out, which seemed to be the bulk of the logs collected. Sequence: 425 Date/time: 2015-10-11T06:40:43.7938988+00:00 Level: FATAL Thread: 3 Logger: Application ------------------------ The application crashed: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ------------------------ Session: {"PackageArchitecture":"Neutral","PackageFullName":"436337Illusions.com.MediaBrowser_3.4.5.355_neutral__77hd5e1v1hqs4","PackagePublisher":"CN=CA9FBA89-9B8C-4501-9177-37B89E41D3FF","PackagePublisherId":"77hd5e1v1hqs4","PackageResourceId":"","PackageVersion":"3.4.5.355","InstallationId":"b6eeb82b-230f-42d9-9ee1-d195c21e607e"} Sequence: 20 Date/time: 2015-10-11T13:27:46.5879005+00:00 Level: ERROR Thread: 5 Logger: RtLogger ------------------------ Request timeout to http://192.168.1.129:8096/mediabrowser/system/info/public?format=json ------------------------ System.TimeoutException: The operation has timed out. at MediaBrowser.ApiInteraction.PortableHttpWebRequestFactory.<>c__DisplayClass5.<GetResponseAsync>b__4() at System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1.InnerInvoke() at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.Execute() --- End of stack trace from previous location where exception was thrown --- at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.TaskAwaiter.ThrowForNonSuccess(Task task) at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.TaskAwaiter.HandleNonSuccessAndDebuggerNotification(Task task) at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.TaskAwaiter.ValidateEnd(Task task) at MediaBrowser.ApiInteraction.Net.HttpWebRequestClient.<GetResponse>d__1.MoveNext() ------------------------ Session: {"PackageArchitecture":"Neutral","PackageFullName":"436337Illusions.com.MediaBrowser_3.4.5.355_neutral__77hd5e1v1hqs4","PackagePublisher":"CN=CA9FBA89-9B8C-4501-9177-37B89E41D3FF","PackagePublisherId":"77hd5e1v1hqs4","PackageResourceId":"","PackageVersion":"3.4.5.355","InstallationId":"b6eeb82b-230f-42d9-9ee1-d195c21e607e"} So at this point I feel like a noob but I'm stuck, and have no clue what to do from here. So to the awesome emby community I went, hope it pans out oh yeah! almost forgot, a large chunk of my battle last night was connecting network drives to he server. Needless to say I still don't have my network drives connected, got frustrated and moved on the next impossible hurdle. short of it, I need help with that part too! I thought I could handle anything this program could dish out, turns out I don't know one single thing about this program anymore, this is a whole new beast and I came unprepared to fight it.

Windows 10 Tip. Pin the Server to the Start Menu
swhitmore posted a topic in Non-Emby General Discussion
People might already know this one, but I just found out about it from Reddit and thought it was pretty cool. Obviously there is a Windows Store app for Emby, but this is handy for things like server and metadata management. Using Chrome, go to your Emby server, click on the hamburger menu in the top right, hover over "More Tools," click on "Add to taskbar..." and make sure "Open as Window" is selected. A new shortcut will go to your taskbar (it will go to your "Recently Added" on the Start menu for Windows 10). This will make a desktop app of the website, which effectively makes it an app you can have open and minimize without having your browser open. You can do this for other websites too. A few that work well are: http://www.messenger.com/ https://steamcommunity.com/chat/ http://www.youtube.com/tv https://play.google.com/music/listen#/now%5B4%5D https://onedrive.live.com/ -
Windows Indexing Service Hangs Because of Corrupt Emby .ts Files
Sam865 posted a topic in General/Windows
Has anyone else experienced a problem in Windows 10 where the Windows File Explorer displays a "Working On It" message and then just hangs forever? In my case, this appears to occur whenever an Emby recorded file (.ts extension) doesn't complete successfully and stays in the Active Recordings section. Sometimes these "active" files also get stored in the same area as successful recordings, but they are always corrupt and will not play to completion. I have turned off Windows indexing on local drives where Emby content is stored, but most of my content is on a network drive attached to my router. There is apparently no way to disable Windows indexing when the File Explorer attempts to access this drive. The result is that File Explorer hangs and will not display ANYTHING until the corrupt file is located and deleted. This can become so bad that double-clicking on This PC or Network will produce the dreaded Working On It message. If this is a known problem, it would be nice to have a simple tool on Emby Server that would locate and clean up failed recordings.-

Hi there, I recently changed my Emby Server PC from a Windows 7 to a Windows 10 PC. Everything is working perfectly except for remote access. When I try to connect via my Windows Phone running Windows Phone 8.1 I receive error "connection details invalid, please try again". I am sure I have done something wrong or missed something but everything ive tried doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?

Hello, I have upgraded my surface to Windows 10. Right now I cannot get to the Windows 10 store. I have heard that the Windows 10 Emby app works much better than the edge browser, but since I cannot get to the store I cannot get the app. Is there any other way to get the app? I am frustrated with this problem with the store, but not surprised. I had a similar problem with windows 8 store on a different PC.

Hi, I have the app install on two machines and may tablet. One machine and the tablet work fine. On my main machine though I've been having a problem for a few weeks that the app crashes as soon as it starts to play a video. It doesn't matter if it's an actual show, or if it's just a background theme. The app just closes. I have in the past been installing the dev versions of the Win10 app on the machine with the problem. The other machines have only used the version from the store. Currently all machines have 3.4.4.352 installed. I've tried multiple times to de-install and re-install the app, with no luck. Emby App by 7illusions Won't download/install from Windows Store
Sam865 posted a topic in Third Party Apps
I am running the latest version of Emby Server on a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit machine. It works fine, both on my LAN and from remote locations. I recently took an Asus Transformer T100TA tablet on vacation and used it to connect to the Emby Server by logging in and connecting remotely. The T100TA is running Windows 10 Home and it works fine when used in this way. I noticed an Emby App on the Windows store that is described as an Emby Browser App (by 7illusions.) I paid the $4.99 and attempted to download/install the App on the Asus computer. The Emby logo flashes briefly when the download starts, and then I receive the following error message while still connected to the Windows Store: "Try that again. Something went wrong. The error code is 0x803F8003, in case you need it." Although the Emby App appears on the Start screen, it doesn't launch when I click it. I can view my media remotely on this computer through the browser, but thought the App might offer additional features. (In other words, the Windows App is something i really don't need.) Any ideas why it won't install? I did notice that my tablet is identified as a device by the Emby Server and it is described (incorrectly) as a Windows RT device. This is not the case. It is a full-featured Windows 10 Home OS.- 1 reply

As per the topic, I'm curious what people who upgraded to W10 are using for livetv. I have a Samsung H series tv, which currently is HDMI connected to W7 and using WMC/Emby Classic. At this point I'm thinking of trying to use my 8" W10 Tablet and chromecast for awhile.

HI all, I just purchased Emby from the Windows 10 store 3 days ago and installed on a fresh W10 installation. I have a media server running on FreeNas with emby plugin. The server has link aggregation with 4x Gb NICs and connec ts to the client via Cat6, delivering regularly on copy a throughput of over 100MB/s. So far my experience has been way less than desirable, so I have to think the problem is with me and not the software. The issues I have encountered so far: 1. MKV with default Italian audio - I can select in the player the other languages but the audio track does not change. It shows the new one selected in the pop up menu on the bottom right hand side of the player, but the audio itself does not change. 2. Player video freezes but sound and movie continues. It has done this on numerous occasions with different movies at different places in the timeline. Restarting the movie at the broken spot does not cause the issue to re-appear and the movie plays well the second time around. This has been particularly frustrating 3. I set up a sync job via the emby drop down menu at the top of the screen. The one inside settings. Ever since, all movies show a sign of "queued" but upon going into the sync jobs again to delete the queued job, it does nothing when I hit delete. I cannot delete this job and it is stuck on 0% since 3 days ago. Worse still, it seems to freeze the app when i try and delete the sync and I have to CTRL-ESC to get control back on the PC. 4. Mouse and keyboard stop working inside the settings menu at times. I have to exit emby and restart to get the mouse & kbd back. 5. I cannot figure out how to use VLC instead of the player in the download. Is this possible? 6. The server is collecting metadata so I cannot understand why the images emby presents for the movies on the initial landing pages are stretched images from a scene in the movie and not the movie art. These look terrible and out of shape. How do I get it to show movie art only? Is it me or is the software less than stable? Can someone help me with information on debugging my situation. Hello all, Newbie here although a lot of experience with Plex and XBMC/Kodi. I thought I would give emby a try, but when I went to install it on a Windows 10 Pro box, well essentially nothing happened. I see a quick window that says launching application with a newtwork icon that vanishes. I see no running programs, apps or processes that are tagged emby or anything that looks like a media server. Figuring maybe I just needed to hit the webpage to start things I tried that, but all I see is "unable to connect". Tried both IE and Firefox so assume it isn't a browser issue just nothing installed. I have tried running the install as admin and under Windows 7 compatibility with no joy. Any suggestions here? Thanks in advance!

What's the best way to use path substitution when my local path on Emby is as follow: /volume1/music /volume1/movie etc... Now I use this /volume1/music --> \\IP from server\music /volume1/movie --> \\IP from server\movie and so on. Is this the correct way? Or should I use smb://IP from server/music or maybe even better nfs://IP from server/music I use Kodi on windows 10 and on 2 raspberry Pi2 systems. Thanks for all help

As I upgraded to Windows 10 I also had to upgrade from Emby for WMC to the Windows 10 app. However when I try to log in to the Emby Server I get a (401) unauthorized message. Log is attached. Log.txt
