Hello, I just switched over from plex to emby because I got fed up with photo libraries. I thought to give emby a shot for photos only. I'm just performing an initial scan of my library (4500 videos, 72k photos). I noticed that emby is rather slow on this initial scan and it's mostly performing sequential video scan via ffmpeg. Is there any reason why this is not done in multiple parallel threads to speed up things? My server has 6 cores but is rather bored CPU-wise and also not exhausted I/O-wise. I believe it could handle 2-4 more parallel ffmpeg calls. kr

My assumption would be that these would change the display name below each photo - to either show Title, Year, or both - but I do not notice any change when selecting one or the other. I personally don't see a need for the setting to display year (if that is what it is meant to do), especially if Sorting is implemented on this tab, but it is a bit confusing now to have the option but for it to not do anything. Hallo zusammen, ich weiß, der Threat ist schon was älter, aber ich habe derzeit genau dieses Problem... Ich hatte den Emby Server früher auf einem normalen Desktop-PC der mir als Heimserver gedient hat, laufen. Alles funktionierte einwandfrei. Irgendwann - keine Ahnung wann, also mehrere Updates später - habe ich mal wieder in meinen Bilderordner geschaut und musste freistellen, dass nur noch Ordner angezeigt wurden, die direkt im Jahresordner Bilder beinhalteten. Alle anderen Ordner, die weitere Unterordner haben, werden nicht mehr angezeigt. Beispiel: Ordnereinstellung in emby für Bilder: /mnt/media/Bilder mnt/media/Bilder/2002/irgendwas.jpg -> sichtbar mnt/media/Bilder/2002/Urlaub/* -> nicht sichtbar Jahreszahlen(ordner) die nur Unterordner enthalten, sind gar nicht mehr sichtbar. Inzwischen habe ich eine Miniaturisierung meiner Serverlandschaft durchgeführt und Emby läuft nun auf einem NanoPi M4 unter Ubuntu. Aber auch hier zeigt er mir ein gleiches Verhalten. Ich muss dazu sagen, dass dieses Verhalten und Verwendung mit Kodi auftritt! Schaue ich per Webbrowser die Fotos an, werden alle angezeigt, solange ich nicht in die Verzeichnis- Übersicht gehe. Denn dann ist alles leer und es wird gar nichts angezeigt. Die Ordnerberechtigungen habe ich mehrfach geprüft, aber ich habe seinerzeit (als es noch funktionierte) die Berechtigungen Rekursiv per chown an emby:emby gesetzt, was auch jetzt noch täglich per cron (für neue Dateien) ausgeführt wird um sicher zu gehen, dass auch alles richtig ist. Surprisingly when a click something the screensaver goes away and the photos are still there changing.... I checked online for Roku Screensaver and nothing ressonates, I find no setting at all in Roku for screensavers, not a channel, anuything Can you please help me have your software running the slideshow when I press the play button Also, the fact that you can press the play button to get a slide show although natural is not intuitive and took a long time for me to figure out...some screen cue for that woudl be most welcome. I deleted and readded the library and no change. ALSO I noticed that the thumbs are recreated on other devices. I scrolled through the folder and thumbs are shown on my MacBook/PC then I moved to a FireTV and the thumbs had to be created again (took a looooong time to see one). In comparison to other folders, which go fast, this is weird. I now moved the cache path from standard to an external one to have faster and better access. Any idea how can help debugging this further? Weirdly I used Jellyfin shortly prior to moving to Emby (dont want to open "wounds" here) and Jellyfin even cannot create thumbs of the images in this folder. With both solutions I can watch them though. But in Emby the server gets busy creating thumbs and the experience degradates while watching this album/folder. I searched the forum and didnt find a solution. Any help - for debugging or fixing it?

Hi, I’ve uploaded some photos to my Emby server on my Synology DS (lifetime license). I can browse the photos fine with my iPad Pro/14.2, however, trying the play or the shuffle buttons doesn’t do anything. Am I missing something? Thanks.

In library, viewed with Raspbian SW, photo is landscape, thumbnail vertical and opened upside down. Original was vertical changed to landscape. Tried scanning, restart and reboot could not get them in sync. There 27,000 photo. Any suggestions? thanks al

Hi zusammen, ich steh gerade vor einem Problem welches ich einfach nicht verstehe und deswegen auch nicht gelöst bekomme. Also frage ich mal hier und hoffe jemand hat ne Idee. Ich habe unmengen an Fotos in .gif .jpg .jpeg .png usw. Diese würde ich gerne in eine Bibliothek nutzen und auch darstellen. Also Ordner angelegt auf der Platte, Rechte vergeben (da ich ubuntu nutze, Rechte entsprechen angepaßt, Benutzer Emby ist der Besitzer) Admin Oberfläche von Emby Neue Bibliothek mit dem Typ Heimvideos und Fotos erstellt. So, entsprechenden Ordner auf der Platte angewählt. Fotos erkennen eingestellt. Dateien reinkopiert . Es werden die Ordner angezeigt, aber keinerlei Inhalte. Ordnerstruktur : Pictures/2020/pic1.jpg Pictures/2019/pic4245.jpg usw. usw. Kopiere ich dort Handyvideos rein in einen Ordner Namens Handyvideos, werden diese angezeigt. Die kann ich auch abspielen. Nur Bilder nicht. Gibts da nen Trick ? Habe ich was vergessen zu installieren ? Also Serverseitig ? Serversoftware : Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS Muß ich noch was an Software nachinstallieren für Emby damit er mit Bildern klarkommt ? Bin für jede Hilfe Dankbar. Grüße VapingSkull

Hello I have started adding home photos into my Emby library (videos home videos and photos), I am using Adobe bridge to add the IPTC metadata. I know Keywords get mapped to Tags I was wondering how Emby map other fields? I want to be able to mass tag photos and have Emby auto fill the following feilds: Studio People Genre I can't really find any guide around photos and metadata management for Emby and have been trying a few different fields but nothing but keyword seem to populate.

Hi, Great product. Have been using Emby for a couple of days now. Simple Question: It seems photo images aren't being displayed in Favorites. - I click the heart icon and therefore should appear in favorites? Video's favorites are being displayed [all ok]. Any reason what photos are't being displayed? Thanks in advance.

I would like to see an option to use your own photos as a screensaver. Maybe even an option to point to a specific folder set aside for just that. In Windows Media Center, I pointed to a folder with just photos for the screensaver.

Thanks for releasing the USB-sideload-Version of the app for Samsung TVs out of USA / UK. Works wonderful. Is there any setting to increase the quality of photos (JPG Images) when viewed in the app? The Images don't even have Full HD resolution and the JEPG compression is way to high. All my photos look terrible when viewed on my 55" 4K MU8009 through the emby app. You can see the JEPG compression artifacts even when viewed from 5 meters away! Landscape images don't even fill the screen (because of low resolution?). There are thin black bars on all sides.

Hi, I have installed latest Emby server and when in Browser Library/Playlist, I clik Play On and choose my Samsung Smart TV DLNA, then Play All, but nothing happens. If I click individual photo or movie from that playlist, it immediately plays on TV (I think it runs on TV native player). TV model is SAMSUNG LED TV UE43NU7022. What won't Emby play all content from playlist on TV? If I don't connect to TV and just click Play All, I see rotating circle, changing colors. Thanks for explanation and support. Regards,

Hi there, First of all, thanks for a great product, loving it from the start. I am coming from plex and I switched because I simply wanted to play a music folder (as in os folder) in my music player. This was easily done in Emby but is not doable in plex, or at least not easily. One thing I loved about plex though (and google but not using that for my photos) is the auto tagging of photos feature. See https://support.plex.tv/articles/234976627-auto-tagging-of-photos/ for how plex uses a third party integration for this. Anyways if this is implemented and a car view for the audio player I will not be looking for alternatives anymore because then Emby covers it all, for me at least Thanks in advance Undersound

Hi, I'm having trouble with some photo types not appearing. Jpeg is working fine but TIF and CR2 ( Canon raw) aren't. The TIF files were working a few months ago but now the apps won't load them. My server is an unraid docker and I'm trying to view the photos on Google pixel 2, LG TV app and a firestick but it won't work on any of them. Could you please advise? Thanks

Hello, I'm trying to use Emby as a photo browser however I find that the quality of the photos is extremely low in the Android app and the web app when accessed from the Android phone's browser (Firefox) These are the URLs that I'm seeing and I noticed that the quality factor is too low (40!) (I redacted some sensitive info) From native app: https://myserver:/emby/Items/ITEMID/Images/Primary?maxWidth=1082&tag=&quality=40 From web app: https://myserver/emby/Items/ITEMID/Images/Primary?maxWidth=1080&tag=&quality=50 I modified the quality variable to 80 and 90 (in the browser URL bar) and found that the quality is much better. Just like we can control the Video streaming bitrate, I think we should be able to control the photos compression quality as well. Hi, after recent updates to 3.5.0.0 and then 3.5.2.0, I cannot see my photos anymore. Not all of them, but a lot of them. What's happened? I have all the pictures of my life in Emby, but now I can't enjoy them on my TV anymore. This is not all: if I try to see my photos, the server crashes and I need to close two sessions of "Electron" in Windows Task Manager and then start server again. Any help or solutions? Thanks! Is there any way to have Emby ignore a photo type on import or on display? I keep RAW files (.nef) in the same folder as my jpgs so I can find them easier. However, emby imports both the .jpg and the .nef but cannot display the .nef file - its just a box with an X in it. I was looking for a way to exclude these files from the import, but can't seem to find a way.

Hi All, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but Emby can't find any of my photos. It found all my music and videos. I got correct file permissions on all folders. Logs show not a single problem. Am I missing something simple ? This is not a client issue as this happens on web or android client. Server add all the folders with pictures but when i go to the folder, it's empty. I have few folders with mix of videos and pictures and videos are there. My setup: Ubuntu 16.04, emby installed from package, v 3.2.60.0. Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to manage my photos collection. I have two groups of Photos, Family Photos and Travel Photos. I'd like to be able to click on Photos, then have to subgroups, Family Photos and Travel Photos. Can't figure out how to do that. RIght now all photo folders are dumped under Photos. I'm sure it's something simple, but being new to Emby I just can't seem to figure it out.

Good afternoon! Emby in my Asustor AS3102T is very slow displays photos. I tried different versions Emby and settings, but the display speed of photos and has not improved. miniature displays terribly slow - 20 miniatures for 10 minutes. Emby does not store thumbnails, and create them anew each time? Photo Gallery displays these same photos instantly! photography weigh 3-8 mb Emby displays 100 thumbnails per page and while it will not load them all, I can not begin to view them. Thank you.

It would be great to have the option to tick photos as 'favorites' for filtering later. This is doable with videos. I'm probably not the only person syncing photos from multiple cameras in real time. Emby on roku lets me see them immediately on the big screen, but then great pics are buried forever by new photos unless I happen to be home next to the server where they are uploaded.
