Hi, I am trying to give Emby access to my external drive on Raspbian. I've searched a lot of different things and have used chmod and chown to try and give it permissions, but to no avail. I am a Linux noob so this is somewhat difficult for me. When I try to add a library from the external drive, I go to the directory that has it, but it's blank. Any help?

Hi New user and first post so hopefully I'm posting in the right place and it's not full of (too) stupid questions! I recently installed Emby Server on Windows 10, just to see what it actually did and get a feel of how it actually worked. I've now decided to set up Emby on a Raspberry Pi 2. I don't need it for streaming/transcoding, purely for pulling metadata, so I'm not concerned about any of the Pi's power limitations. I installed 4.0.0.2 on a fresh install of Raspbian and started to set it up, adding libraries, plugins as I had done under Windows. Then I noticed that the scanning wasn't going as fast. Nowhere near as fast. Back to a fresh Raspbian/Emby install and this time no plugins and a minimal library - just 12 TV episodes to test. First run and I gave up before it had even completed. The episodes already had all the nfo and thumb images before the scan started but it was still taking ages. Log entries showed ffprobe entries for each file spaced anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes apart. Removed the library, nfos and images and tried again and it's still not working. Dashboard still says its scanning, but there doesn't appear to have been a log entry related to scanning for over half an hour. in both instances there just seems to be huge time periods of Emby not doing anything, or at least not logging anything. Any suggestions? There doesn't seem to be an errors in the log and I had no issues scanning under Windows. Two logs attached. 1 when folder had nfo/thumbs already and 2 with no existing local metadata. embyserver1.txt embyserver2.txt

I have Emby server 3.4.1.31 beta on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ with Raspbian Stretch (2018-06-27), and the server crashes constantly. I upgraded to the beta from 3.4.1.0 for unrelated reasons (problems with .AppleDouble files) but I believe the crashes were happening under that release too. It's just Emby crashing. Raspbian continues fine, and I can login and restart Emby with no problems. It seems to crash when left alone for too long, or anytime I make too many changes to the library contents (adding, removing, or renaming video files). Attached are three crash logs from today. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! 2018-07-12 07.15.txt 2018-07-12 17.02.txt 2018-07-12 17.50.txt

I finally, with the help of a friend (I have ZERO Linux experience) have set up Emby server on my R-Pi. I have it so it can read the drive I have plugged in (finally) and I have the folders associated with the appropriate movies, tv shows, music, etc. Everything works (Meta data shows, I can edit titles so it gets the proper meta data; the whole shabang) exactly as it did when I ran emby server on Windows 10, except when I go to play a video or song, it gives me this: "Playback Error - No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details." I thought it could be a codec problem? I downloaded VLC to it and it will open the movie files, but barely play them. I figured the playback device did all the work and it was just drawing the actual movie file from the R-Pi, but perhaps the R-Pi is the thing doing all the work (and isn't powerful enough to do so?) WHAT DO I DO? Please and thanks. I appreciate it.

I can get Emby Server to install ok on Raspbian. I can load it up and everything works, except that it can't read my storage device. Raspbian file explorer sees the storage and I can view the movies, but when I type that path to add to my library, it says it's not valid. I have zero experience here. I'm just googling what I can, but a lot of it is over my head. Can someone please help me out with a ELI5? Thank you!

Hi, I successfully installed an emby server on my RPi2 with raspbian (jessie) using this guide: https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/howto-install-emby-server/6364 Everything seems to work fine. Except one annoying thing... My problem is similar to this post: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/24157-webclient-recursive-library-scan-missing-mediainfo/ There's a Media Info section at the bottom of any video page (using the web-app). It only shows me "container" and "path" (as shown in Pic 1). Nothing else... The server can't get any video mediainfos. I never had this issue with the Windows emby server version. Is there something wrong with my libmediainfo? I'm not sure if it's always true, but it should have a streamdetails section at the end of nfo files. This is not the case for me (it was when I used windows). I did the following: mediainfo /path/of/my/video It actually worked and gave me all the stream details. This is really strange. I also tried the advanced refresh from the metadata manager. No success. Is it a problem with permissions or something else? I even tried running the server from login as root (not sure if it was a good idea). I'm using samba (CIFS) for my video shares just for info... I attached two server logs. The first one is when I scanned the library with only one movie (shorter). Just in case it isn't enough, I also included a second one with the full scan of my entire library. Apparently, there is a problem with ffprobe. I have no idea what to do. I'm really new with linux and I need some help. Thank you

Hello everyone, I am looking for a little guidance. I recently purchased a Raspberry Pi 2. What I want is to install MB on the Pi, and connect an external hard drive to create a media server that can be accessed by anyone on my network via the MB web interface or smartphone app. The issue that I am having trouble with is installing the server on Pi 2. I started out with Raspbian and tried to install MB using the new debian instructions, thinking that Raspbian is a fork of debian. However, this did not work. I got to thinking, Pi runs on ARM, so I'm (pretty) sure the traditional debian packages wont work? I also tried the manual install instructions, but ran into issues when trying to start the server using the mono command. I have seen people on this forum say that they have MB running on a Pi. My question is what OS and instruction set should I use to get this working? I am thinking of trying Pidora or Arch Linux next, if need be. I really have no preference as to what OS I use, this Pi's sole purpose will be to run a media server. Thanks, Tanner
