I paid for this app about a year ago. it looked like a worthwhile addition so i ponied up as i have done for alot of the various parts (subscriber,paid apps & paid for themes etc) but this is brutal. I have to say it's dire (sorry) ...looks good and launches a video but that's it.The "remote" part is so poorly implemented it has never worked fully ...ever. In it's current form it is worth €0 not 4 or 5 quid mate. volume rocker doesnt work anymore play would work once that's it ...no pause. FF/REW never worked Skip FWD never worked slider never worked (if it was supposed to) No resume etc Mute on off does work. Any idea when we can expect a fully working version that was paid for? Lumia user on a 520 all updates as far as & including denim (phone is fine)(pc is fine updated y'day) Sorry bout being harsh but if you are going to charge at least make sure it is a working item. No problem paying for stuff that works!

In the Android app, if I click the chromecast button I am given a selection of available devices - my Chromecast device(s), any currently open web-clients on computers in my internal network, and my Emby Theater client set up on my HTPC. Typically, if I select any of these devices, I can then select a show/movie and start playback from within the app and control the video within the app as well. However, if I select my Emby Theater client, nothing I do seems to affect that client. Selecting a video and clicking play brings me to the screen in the app as if I had begun playback, but the video never begins playing in the Theater client, and the seek bar never progresses. With the web client, simply navigating around the Android app brings up associated views (series detail, episode detail, etc) within the web client. None of this occurs with the Theater client though. Is this an issue with the Android app or the Theater client? Is there anything I can do on my end to fix the issue? I prefer to use the Theater client over a web client off my HTPC so that I can do direct streaming (including styled soft subtitles, which aren't properly rendered in the web client).

Hi Guys, Top work on the App, looks nice, and drives well. I am a XBMC/Kodi guy, been using it for years; so most of the Remote Control functions are 2nd nature to me especially the D-Pad function. My request is, D-Pad usage on Video Playback: When Playing a Video, can the D-Pad be used for skipping forward, Back etc. UP - Skip forward to Next Chapter Down - Skip Back to Previous Chapter Right - Skip Forward 10 seconds Left - Skip Back 10 seconds. Also related to remote control, is this App supposed to be shown on the Emby Web App as a device? I sometimes throw a video straight to a device saves a few button clicks.

I don't know what's going wrong with emby, but since you changed the name for something who sound like Kodi, it doesn't give what it gave before. Firstly, the connection made through the emby website , sometimes it work and sometimes it don't. For example, i add friends, by the invite options of the software manager of Emby , i decided to change the name of my server before (it was something like the name of my pc and i changed it for a more reliable name) when some users try to connect now, they see the new name of my server but when they clicked on it and there's always a message showing that the server is not available or something like that. When i have to update manually some infos about a movie, the link is made through imdb, the picture related to the movie is available (like it was before with Media Browser) but when it come to save it as the one who will be used, the update doesn't make anything except keeping all the old pictures related to the movie (pictures who are everything except the cover of the movie). There is a lot of missing infos when i add movies in my directories, this is acceptable, but when it come to make an update manually who doesn't work .... So i uninstalled emby completely to make a fresh new installation from the start. The installation went fine, i have to install the plugins that i had before (this is something normal), this told me that the uninstall process went good. But when i install a particular addon (who seems to be related to some home automation processes) it crashed. It crashed to a point that i was unable to restart the server. i uninstalled all the plugins, this is the last of the three options in the uninstall process. this action didn't remove only the plugins, but everything related to Emby. So i get to the control panel again, and seeing that Emby was still appearing through the software i have on my PC (windows 7 professional edition 64 bits) I tried to uninstall Emby, and it gave me an error message that something went wrong in the uninstall process. I know that Emby is free. But i would pay for it if it would be more stable. I keep Plex for that, who doesn't have all the bugs that i mentioned before in this message. So what's going on ? I don't want to be rude, but there is something to be done with this version of Media Browser known now as Emby. Thanks, André (sorry for my english writing i speak and write in french)

Hi, Have tried to find a description on how to control when SSL can be forced. Is it possible to force SSL for all remote connections, but allow normal http for all connection from the local network? Under Dashboard->Advanced->Hosting it has a "Force https as external address", and I guess it's this checkbox I wonder if works as described above? Not much need for SSL locally, but would be great to be able to force it for everything coming and going to the outside network. -Florux

I just upgraded finally today to mb3 from classic 2.6 which I have been running forever. mb3 on top of win7. trying to figure out a few things, but in general pretty happy with the upgrade. one thing I cannot figure out is that my back button on my standard Microsoft wmc remote (the popular peanut one) does not seem to work. it works fine inside windows media center so I don't understand why mb3 does not recognize the button. i have a very uncommon IR interface from an htpc case builder that no longer is around, but it has a diagnostic tool, and when I turn that on to see command sent, I do see that "window media center back" is being recognized, and like i said, windows media center does not have a problem with the button. is there something that I am missing that I need to config?

Hi all. When I was using XBMC I started to look into setting up a remote control before I stumbled upon Media Browser and got side tracked (In a good way). I’m currently using MB through the web interface and would like to know is there a way to set it up with a MCE remote control / keyboard combination mapped to a button / third party application? It would just polish the experiance for none technical family members if I could set one up. Regards, Lee

I'm having a problem getting the Remote Play to work with XBMB3C. I've checked all SMB shares, I am using the UNC path substitution instead of E:\path. Remote Play does work for my Media Portal Client. Hello, I'd like to see a button in MBC to bring up the movie synopsis. Since the new screen overrides the old Media Centre overlay, maybe we could repurpose the "info" button? Failnig that, maybe when pressing "play" or "pause", the synopsis/plot could be shown as well as the other info that is ther.

Version: 3.0.5271.29451 Think this might be my first post - so thank you to all of the developers and testers for such an excellent platform. It has served us well for many years already and keeps getting better! Since the last update I have been experiencing a range of new, unexplained, behaviour with both the client and server (x64 Windows 8.1) counterparts. (This is the client / Classic Forum so will skim over the server first - ) The server functions fine once installed, but I had serious difficulty with the latest installer. It refused to complete the installation sitting at ~95% for a few minutes then appearing to be installed. However, the service would not start. I also starting to receive virus warnings from Symantec, which I have read elsewhere. Ignoring this threat, "uninstalling" and then manually deleting all traces of Media Browser I was then able to install (fresh). It may simply be the Symantec detection that was causing all issues. Classic - we have started to experience a number of different issues since the 3.0.5271.29451 (and/or since new interface if I missed any updates), as below: Remote Freezing - having played a video, upon trying to navigate the menu it appeared that Media Browser had crashed. This occurred multiple times. One time using Task Manager I noticed that MB was actually responding to the mouse (accidentally running the mouse across the screen). These freezes continue - any remote control input seems to be ignored. Can be resolved by exiting Media Browser Classic and relaunching it (though, this is difficult with a remote!) - so it isn't a crash within 8MC itself. ('Standard' MCE remote, USB RF - EMPREX Brand). I have now disabled the new interface (due to issues below) - so will confirm if this remote locking appears to be restricted to the new interface or across Media Browser completely. Other "Freezes" - again, since update media browser has started to freeze for a number of seconds before starting to respond again. Cannot reproduce reliably - ad-hoc occurrence. Normal function does return, freezes for different periods of time. New Interface - No Seek / Preview / Time Left incorrect - on the new interface the time left (I presume - right hand side) never matches the length of the video I have launched. At first I assumed it may be for the current chapter - however, when watching a children's programme with my daughter, noticed it reported a longer length than the video could be - so guess this is not related to chapters. Also unable to seek reliably - sometimes it does respond to advance/seek on the remote, but then no changes occur. A few times (mouse/keyboard/remote) it seems to only respond to presses after quite a long delay (3-20 seconds). The seek bar also does not respond. Although we like the look of the new interface, due to the above - and also, importantly some built-in MCE functionality e.g. zoom, reported elsewhere - we are not able to adopt it due to the above issues. Hopefully the above may be helpful - will try to report back any updates to above. Thanks again!

I'm trying out MB3 over Plex. The problem is simple as topic title. I cannot connect MB3 server via iOS or any remote MBT clients. Only local MBT can connect to my server. Which is installed on the same box with MB3 Server. But MBC can connect remotely within clients on same network. Also WEB Client works from any location. Curious if i'm missing something or this should maybe be moved to the feature requests area. Basically I only want to allow certain users to access content from outside the LAN. I want all to be able to access content when at home but only allow remote access for some. Is this already available or can we move this to feature requests ?

I'm using a TL-WDR3500 router and cannot seem to access my files remotly. I have tried every config option I can think of with the router sofware and I have disabled my software firewall with no luck. Hoping someone here knows a solution.

Run into a problem with the latest build. When I start playing a video to any of my DLNA receivers (Samsung TV, WD TV Live, Popcorn Hour) it starts fine but when I go to remote control it says "Nothing is currently playing". Interesting part, which may or may not be related, is that I run 2 servers. One is where I prep stuff and make sure it looks ok before letting loose on the main server and is running beta build. The main server is set only to run official builds, so hasn't updated yet. It can actually see what is playing from the prep server and allows me to control the device as normal. I've attached the log from the prep server. The play attempt was at 08:05:31.4542. server-63532541074_.log Any ideas what is the problem?

Just wanted to put this out there for you guys, have any of you used the app touchsquid? It's a universal remote app for your android device. Along the same lines as irule. it has a couple of benefits over irule to me and those are: 1. Price (little cheaper) 2. It can use the built in IR blaster of your device along with IP and rs232 control and exteral IR blasters if needed. (irule can't use built in IR) 3. Ease of setup (it can all be done via the device no comptuer needed) granted this gives less customization but if you've ever messed with irule it can be a heck of a setup. 4. The support, the admin has been very responsive responding to my inquiries very quick and even fixed a bug right after i made him aware of it! Now if you're not familiar with how these remotes work think harmony activities, you hit watch tv and it turns your tv on, your receiver on, etc and puts them all on the right inputs etc all with just 1 button push. it remembers the state of your devices when you switch activities and at the end power off. Some other cool features are you can program macros, launch urls, launch other apps ( for example I have a button to launch the MB android app) I have buttons to launch mbc and mbt etc. Basically my harmony 900 is going up for sale and is being replaced by a galaxy tab 3 7.0 and this cool drink holder mount I found on ebay that puts the remote right where i want it on my theater chair. Hi, I have my kids set up with limited accounts so they cannot see most of the movies I have, Also, they are set up to not be able to remotely control anything. The parental account has a password, and his does not. However, when my son has the app running on the iPad (it works, even though it's the iPhone app), he can see what the parents are watching and also remotely edit that. The dashboard session showed him logged in as "parents" but the app clearly showed he was logged in as himself. When I logged him out and in, the dashboard updated to show his name, but he could still see what we were watching. Any ideas why this would happen? I take it that this is not intentional behaviour?

Background I'm considering a new Intel NUC to install MBS and MBC (and eventually MBT) all on windows 8.1. The new NUCs come with a built in IR receiver which apparently works with a Microsoft Media Center remote. My current HTPC is running Win 7 with Media Center and MB2 and I have an original microsoft IR receiver. I use a Harmony One remote. I'd like to keep both PCs in the same room, using the old Media Center just for live TV recording and using the new NUC for everything else. Question Is it possible to control two separate HTPCs with the same remote? I think I'd need to tell one of the PCs to use a different set of IR codes or something. So, is it possible to uniquely address each PC with the same remote?

I'm fading away from using mControl to Vera for Home Automation. I'm already using Vera for Text to Speech Announcements, but still use mControl for Windows Media Center automation (play channel x, queue wake or sleep music, Message Box overlays). I've just uploaded this Alpha version of WMC control via Vera: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,22854 I'd be happy to port this plugin to Media Browser if MB supports telnet (i.e socket) or http access media control which I believe it does. Ideally, it would be anonymous authentication to KISS. Could someone point me to the code in GitHub that would accept these calls? I would also like to see a Message Box added added to MB via this interface as well for selfish reasons.

I've just been trying out the "Remote" function on the server web UI to control playback on MBC. The first time I use it, there are "Play", "Queue" and "View" buttons - but if I use the play button and then browse to another video and press the "Remote" button again, the three buttons are no longer visible. Same problem on chrome and IE. Even if I close and restart the client (MBC) the buttons are still missing. Refreshing the browser (F5) brings the buttons back next time I click "remote".

I am using Media Browser Theatre in the living room right now. I thought I would try the Windows 8.1 App version this weekend. Congratulations on the great work on the Windows 8.1 App. It is the way forward and the design is one of the best I have seen amongst the many platforms you are supporting. Unfortunately navigating with the windows remote control sometimes does nothing and no panels appear to have the focus. I have to reach for the mouse and can sometimes switch back to the remote but not for long. Are other users having issues? My remote is the standard MS one for MC. A related issue for me is that I am on a trial which will expire fairly quickly so I will have no idea when the issue is resolved as I wont be eligible for another trial. Unfortunately I can't use it as it is at the moment.

I wonder if there are plans for navigation similar to Apple TV "fast scroll"? Now I am on this subject. Which remote would you recommend? Thanks

Hi all, I've mentioned this a long time ago in another thread, and haven't found a fix for it yet. The problem is, for some reason in MBT my Harmony 650 remote seems to work perfectly for everything, except when trying to "fast scroll" through my collections. What I mean by that is: I'm unable to hold down my arrow buttons and quickly move through my collection. Instead, I need to move through titles one at a time (I'd need to press the "right arrow" close to 900 times to get to the end of my movies collection). A while back someone mentioned that my remote may not be configured to repeat commands with the button held down. This is not the case. While I couldn't find an option to change that setting anywhere in my remote setup, I'm sure there's no need to, since it works perfectly fine in WMC. This problem seems to be limited to MBT for some reason. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since this problem keeps me from using my remote in MBT, and I'm stuck using my keyboard instead this really makes it an inconvienience, having the keyboard up on the couch next to you! Luke - will there be any changes coming that reduce the number of button presses that are required to simply play the next episode of a show? To play the next episode of any specific TV show (after highlighting the specific series) is... Three button presses with MBC (and chocolate): Enter into series Enter into next episode (due to next unplayed season/episode being automatically selected) Press play At least seven and possibly many more button presses with MBT: Enter into series Cursor right onto "Seasons" Cursor down to "Season 1" Cursor right (possibly more than once) to current season Cursor down (probably more than once) to next episode Enter into next episode Press play Or is there already a quicker way to access the next episode of a specific series?

Media Browser 3 Control for Unified Remote Firstly please be aware that I consider this very much a beta script and will do so until such time as MBT comes out of beta. I will however keep the scripts updated as MBT does so and provide more functionality as the MBT team gets around to mapping everything. So to start, what is Unified Remote? Unified Remote is an app that lets you control your entire Windows computer from your Android device. In short, it turns your device into a WiFi or Bluetooth remote control for all the programs on your computer. It is easily the most feature-filled PC remote available. With our app you can control a wide range of applications, including simple mouse and keyboard, media players, and other external hardware that can be connected to your computer. They also provide extensive capabilities to create custom remotes, which is what I have done for MB3. Now before we go any further you will need to purchase the full version of Unified Remote for your android or windows device to use custom remotes, they price is extremely reasonable at AUD$3.67 on the PlayStore and AUD$3.99 on the Windows Store, you won’t find a better remote for the price try the free version first and see what you think, although you will be unable to use this script with it, there are a few built in to try. (iOS version is in beta and not currently available for iCrap iStuff) You can find a full overview on their website here …..all good, how do I get started? Well firstly you need to download the Unified Remote Server here this needs to be installed on any PC or HTPC you wish to control. Once you have it installed run through the options, not much to do here, if on your HTPC I suggest you set it to ‘start on system start-up’ you can also click on the remotes tab and disable/enable any remotes you care to (feel free to disable that ugly cousin XBMC ) password encryption is also available. WARNING: Do NOT disable any of the Core.**** remotes or the Relmtech basic input remotes, they are action libraries required to work some functions. Once everything is configured, you can close the server window, since the application will continue to run in your system tray. IMPORTANT: make sure that Windows Firewall and/or other security software is not blocking the Unified Remote Server application nor ports (default 9512 TCP and UDP). It is recommend that you use Unified Remote on your local area network (LAN), otherwise you will need to open the ports on your router as well. Once you’re done there you need to install the actual remote to your device here for Android devices or here for Windows devices. Once the application is running, follow the in-app instructions. The dashboard offers quick access to all the main parts of the app. And you’re done. If you are just trying it out go ahead and play, if you grabbed the full version and are ready to install the Media Broswer 3 Remote, read on….. So you’ve made it this far, moving on…. As you can see above I have tried to get as much in as possible without feeling crowded, the navigation area has been deliberately left clear to make it easier to avoid accidental touches. Layout was designed on a Samsung Galaxy SII which is a relatively small screen nowadays for android devices and it felt comfortable to use, I can only imagine it would be much better on a tablet or larger screen phones, unfortunately at the time of writing I do not have a tablet to test layout on, although I have a Galaxy Tab on it’s way, I also do not own a windows tablet or phone so feedback there would be nice, I will however try to get one from a friend for testing. NOTE: The full function remote scrolls if needed, the basic remote will fill to fit your device(s) screen. It has been thoroughly tested on my Galaxy SII and works like a charm, I do recommend setting Unified on your device to 'portrait lock' and 'full-screen' in options if similar in size to the SII. Remote using MBT/WMC was tested on a Desktop PC (Windows 8.1 Pro with WMC), Notebook (Windows 8.1 Pro with WMC) and a HTPC (Windows 7 Ultimate). The Panel without a Name: I was going to call it porn, cos when you rub that little button on the right MBT gets bigger or you can use the one on the left and go back… (not finishing that!) The Panel of Many Colours: If it sang and had 2 big round buttons I would call it Dolly! The colours function as follows; Function Panel: Power Button will do a complete shutdown your pc Media Browser will launch Media Browser Theatre (if WMC is running it will end that process first) MBT can also be launched by pressing the menu button on your phone/tablet when the MB3 remote is open. A pop-up will show with ‘Launch’ above the usual ‘Share’ that is seen there in apps. (this method does not force WMC to close.) WMC will launch WMC directly to Live TV (if MBT is running, it will end that process first) Sort By opens the slide out panel for viewing by sort options (if applicable) pressing back hides it again. Screenshot will take a picture of the current screen and put it in > USERNAME/Pictures/Screenshots/screenshot(xx).jpg this is handy if needing to send an image to the MB3 team for trouble shooting or just grabbing that right pic from your favourite movie so you can use it as a backdrop. Access Panel: Keyboard opens the keyboard on your device Mouse changes your screen to touchpad mode, allowing you to control MBT via mouse in a similar manner to a notebook touchpad. Mic inputs basic commands via voice (basic functions have all been tested and working, it uses google voice so shows about the same accuracy) Quick Switch switches between MB3 and other Unified Remotes quickly (add these as you desire) Server selects the UR Server(PC or HTPC) you wish to connect your device to Get Media Browser 3 Control for Unified Remote here for x64or here for x86. The file is self-extracting and will need admin privileges as it extracts the scripts and custom icons to the unified install directory. Make sure the Unified Remote Server (URS) is installed prior to extracting these scripts. After the extraction process is complete, stop and start the URS or go to the remotes tab and click refresh. Your MB3 Remotes should then be listed on both your system and device. Rinse and repeat for each system running the URS.
