Feature Request. A present I have several user accounts setup for family members. When we sit down together to watch a movie we currently log into one account (Mostly mine), so obviously only this account gets the watched status. What happens then is everyone uses my account because there's isn't up-to date and it's "just easier". This results in my account telling me I've watched something when I haven't... I would like the ability to log into my account and select/deselect which other users are present so that when a movie/TV episode is watched together, their watched statuses are updated accordingly? The next time you log in again all other users would have been deselected. It could be implemented so each user account can do this, or only select user accounts can. Even a special "Family" user account, or multiple viewers button as long as everyone's watched status is correct. Even just ticking the users present on the login screen before login into an account.

Hello all, i am running the emby server in an android device. I created a user and restricted its permissions to some libraries. In a library, which includes Series, when this user opens a series, one could find some materials or videos in the section “more like that” from a library which this user should not have access to. could you please have a look in this issue. and thanks a lot for the great work. best regards Mohamad

In this file Emby selects ID 5 (plain text subtitles) as the default subtitle. Why don't it select ID 4 (in PGS format)?

I have an Emby server (4.4.2.0) running on macOS Catalina. I have several users defined in the server. The server is accessible within my home network (via HTTP) and over the Internet (via HTTPS). Most ion my users have passwords defined but I have one, which is the 'family' user which is intended only for use within our home and so has no password defined. For this user I have unticked the box that says 'Allow remote connection to this server' but when I access the server remotely a ) The user still shows on the login screen b ) Clicking the user logs it in. This seems like quite a big security hole? Am I misunderstanding what the 'Allow remote connections to this server' option is supposed to do? How can I have a user that shows up on the login screen when accessed locally but does not show up and cannot log in when accessed remotely? Thanks, Chris

What is your policy on peoples personal info. Do you for instance sell it to marketing firms for profit? Such as email, birthday etc. I am asking because I just made myself a new email specifically for here. Mostly for anonymity purposes. When ever I turn on my TV to Kodi it asks me to login in to Emby. If I pause a show for a bit, when I go to start it again it plays for 20 seconds and the goes back to the home screen and ask me to login again. How do I stop this?

Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to implement a new feature for Emby server to use existing system users for authentication to the server (similar idea to a RADIUS server). For example I am a Synology user and it would be much neater if I can control the user access to Emby from the Synology control panel (for example based on who has access to the Emby app, if the user is active etc.). Access to individual libraries can be determined if a user has access to a given folder or maybe even keep the current server configuration, but be able to assign default libraries visible for all users of a given user group or something like that. Basically have the same functionality as the Synology Video Station app. Why is this feature needed: Currently when I am adding a new user to the system I need to manually go into the Emby server settings and create a user with the same name, give him access to specific libraries and so on. It would be much easier if i can just create a user of a given user group and that user is automatically added to the Emby users and has access to specific Emby libraries.

How long after the invite is accepted does a new new user have access to my Emby server over the cloud? Whats happening: On android the user chooses to Connect with Emby Connect, next screen opens she enters the correct username and PW then clicks connect. Hi is there a way to configure a set of options to be the defaults for all users ? I want all my users to have same DISPLAY and HOME SCREEN options. ther is a standard when users are created but this is not mine and I want to know if ther is way to change that. thanks

I have created multiple libraries targeted for different set of users. I have granted access to one or more libraries for a given user, and no access to other libraries. The libraries where the user has no access, are not available from his dashboard, however, a direct link to the library or a movie within the library, will allow the user access. Is this somehow possible to prevent? Regards Johannes

I like how Emby keeps track of watched status on a user basis. I think it would be great to expand this. This is pretty complicated so I'll try to break it down by areas... --Client-- Series: -Allow users to mark if they're interested in a series. -Allow users (this would require permissions) to lock a series so it can't be deleted until someone clears the lock. A reason for locking would be if it's a recording or series the user doesn't want accidentally or systematically deleted. Episodes: -Allow users (this would require permissions) to lock an episode so it can't be deleted until someone clears the lock. Guide: -Next to the recording symbol (or when you open info on the program itself), show icons of who is interested in the program so if it gets bumped or canceled, you can easily see who would be disappointed. --Server-- Schedules: -Add a timer (disabled by default) to clear watched episodes. This goes through everything that doesn't have a lock on it and if everyone that's interested in it has watched it, it deletes it. Series/Programs: -It would also be nice to have a rule on the above timer to only delete episodes over a specific number of days old. I would default this to 30 days. -Allow admins to check/uncheck user interest in each series/program, delete series/program timers, and add/remove system locks. This should be very similar to "Series" in the web app already but with more options horizontally. I suppose you could add this functionality there too but permissions based on what users can edit. General (not a category, just in general): -If the storage media runs out of space, you can use this information (interested, watched, locked, as well as the age of the recording) to determine what recordings should be deleted first to make room for new recordings. The first thing to delete would be the oldest, unlocked, watched, with no one interested in watching it. In conclusion: it's hard for admins to figure out who watched what to know what is safe to get rid of without asking individual users. Emby should be able to help admins clean up old content that won't be missed.

Hello, I've been with Emby a couple of months now. And I like it. But I have always had trouble with the login page. All of the accounts except my account (admin) can never login, if they are shown at the login screen. When they click on their name there is always an immediate prompt that says somehting like "log fail, wrong username or password. please try again" I always found that a little strange since these accounts don't get a chance to type in any password. So up until now I just told everybody to click on login manualy and so on. For me it always works. Ican klick on my icon and I get asked for my password and I can sign in without any problems. At the beginning I always thought my users just forgot their passwords, since a reset usually helped. But today I was trying to setup a client with a user I created myself. But now I can't even login with this new user manualy. I am sure I have the right password because I can sign into the forums with it. I always get a message that tells me to make sure I have proper connection and so on. But I do since I can also sign in with my admin account from this client. I have these problems across all the client I use (Theater desktop, firetv, web app, android, ios). I always check on the dashboard if the users are there and I can also see the failed login attempts I just don't know how to fix this. Am I doing something wrong?

Hey Everyone, Long time Kodi/Plex user and Emby lurker, and recent Emby Premier subscriber thanks to forum member pclausen for showing me the way. In all seriousness, it's become increasingly obvious to me that as both Emby and Plex mature, Emby simply has the more compelling feature set, and I find it direct plays more of my library than Plex on the same devices. I am having one small issue, however. One of the features I love most about Emby is the ability to lock down devices and users. With multiple kids in the house it's nice for a user to be jailed to a particular mobile device and have limited content. Additionally, I have generic users that stay logged in to our primary TVs. In this particular case, I have a user called LG-TV that is logged in to the LG WebOS Emby app on my LG OLED display. The issue I'm seeing is that the LG TV device never populates in the devices list, under Devices > Devices. In both the Active Devices and Recent Activity in the dashboard, however, I see the device just fine. Not sure why it identifies as Emby Theater, but here's some sample detail: LG-TV has started playing E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial 4/9/2018, 1:13:37 pm App: Emby Theater, Device: LG Smart TV Log snippet: 2018-04-09 13:13:37.031 Info HttpServer: HTTP POST http://server:8096/emby/Sessions/Playing. UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Web0S; Linux/SmartTV) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/38.0.2125.122 Safari/537.36 WebAppManager You probably know where I'm going with this - since it never populates in the Devices > Devices list, it's not available in the user profile as a device in the Users > username > Access > Device Access list. Thus, I have to leave the box checked for, "Enable access from all devices" for this user to work at all on the LG display. For further reference, I have a Roku TV (TCL P-Series) that shows up just fine as a Roku SG 3.0.64 device. Some requisite specs: Display: LG OLED65E6P TV Firmware: 05.30.25 WebOS: 3.3.3_3707 Emby Server Version 3.3.1.0 for Windows Is this expected behavior for the WebOS app? I am playing around with using my Emby to replace the "file share" i had setup via my router and a usb stick. Have 2 questions: 1. Is there a way to hide the default icons called "Collections" and "Folders"? I don't see an option to hide those selections in the User Access settings. I just want only the Folder and certain other Library Folders i create or select to show. 2. Is there a way to have a remote user upload a file to the Emby server? Is this a feature/plugin that could be added in the future? Thanks.

Hi Guys! Would be awesome if users could rate and possibly add comments on movie pages? Even a simple "out of 5 star" rating system would be pretty neat, maybe even with a comment below eg. "John liked this movie, 4 Stars". I have roughly 10 users (friends) that all use my Emby Server, so would be cool to see reviews from friends.

Please add an option to require users to sign in every time the app is launched. I realise not everyone would want this, but if it is a setting that we could enable that would be awesome. Not all the members in our household remember to navigate the app to switch to their user account. Consequently, the media and already watched tracking statistics are getting messed up. We have two problems here. The first not able to clearly see which user is currently signed in, and the second is not asking the person viewing which user profile they should be using. Another great improvement would be to easily mark an item as NOT watched from the app and vice versa.
