  1. Running Android TV Beta on NVIDIA SHIELD TV (gigabit wired to main switch) and Emby Server Beta. HDHomeRun EXTEND set to mobile profile. https://youtu.be/jLw3J2R-Ld8 Four main areas of concern which the video above shows: 1) 0:04-0:15 the long time (~11 seconds) it takes to tune to a channel. 2) 0:20-0:25 the initial pause (~5 seconds) that is observed not long after beginning play. This has happened since I can remember using Emby. 3) 0:29-0:33 the spontaneous pixilation. 4) 0:41-0:44 the spontaneous pauses. I timed them exceeding 30 seconds in length at times. I tried changing TVs and it didn't matter. When watching directly from the HDHomeRun tuner, #1 only takes 2-3 seconds, #2 doesn't happen, #3 doesn't happen, #4 happens rarely and extremely brief (<1 seconds). Direct Play is not checked, it is down mixing to stereo, and bandwidth is set to Auto. The above issues are easily repeatable. Users here would rather use HDHomeRun's app than Emby for Android TV because of these problems.
  2. Hi all, I have been using the Emby DVR with Schedules Direct listings for a few weeks now. All has been working well until I found a series I had set to record appears not to be scheduling or recording new episodes. Is there a log I can check to determine why the new episodes are not recording? As far as the UI goes, I can see the series recording icon in next weeks listing and the episode is definitely new but here is no icon indicating the episode itself will record, nothing in the Scheduled list and nothing in the Series scheduled list. The episodes from previous weeks did record correctly.

    Xbox One question

I am using the original XBOX One with Emby theater, and I would like to know if it is normal for Emby to Transcode live tv feeds. I use a HD Homerun Prime as my TV source in Emby Server. Thanks.
  4. Just wondering if this is normal or is this something not yet implemented where live tv auto grabs the fanart for things that are currently on? See attached image
  5. Following on @@Luke's response in a separate thread; https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/60539-live-tv-works-in-emby-in-chrome-but-not-emby-theater/?p=596345 I was watching a live TV channel last night for about 4 hours via the Android TV app when suddenly the stream stopped/crashed and the Emby app flipped back to the EPG. Can this happen if the stream just stopped from the provider, or could this be a server issue perhaps? I enabled Auto-loop per a suggestion from @@Luke and the viewing has been flawless since then, until this issue last night. Immediately I tried to reconnect back to the server, but it was not responding. Emby Server Stream Crash -2018-07-12-910pm.txt

    Can't Play Live TV Channel

When I attempt to play a Live TV channel, I get the loading circle go around continuously and nothing plays. The channels are all on my HD Homerun which are not working. In troubleshooting I have updated the HD Homerun to the latest firmware and I have confirmed that other application can use the turner. I have also rebooted both HD Homerun and Emby server as well as verified the correct DeviceAuth is being used by Emby for the tuner. This has been happening for about two weeks now. 7. After choosing Live TV within Emby and choosing a station, the first time the TV-station information bar is NOT shown. If you go back to the main menu of Emby en re-choose Live TV, the TV station information bar is shown correctly.....: Thus: This only happend the first time, the TV-station information bar (of how is it called) is not appearing.... after a refresh of re-entering Live-TV, the bar is shown correctly... this happend in the webbased Emby with all three browsers: Chrome, IE and Edge. Details: I'm using the beta-version: 3.4.1.20 on a Windows Server 2016 DC/16GB RAM/500GB SSD. This probably is a small bug which already exists for some time: I earlier recognized it a few weeks ago..... Grtz. Peter
  8. Currently, if you watch an in progress recording, reach the point to where it’s live, and then you exit out of the recording, it will be considered as watched. Would it be possible to only set as watched when you reach the in progress program’s end time, rather than the end of what’s currently recorded? That way, you can come back to a recording you’ve only had the chance to watch the first 15 minutes of, and resume right where you left off. Not only that, but if you can show the proper duration of the show in the player, you would be able to tell how far along a show has been recorded while watching, and know when you’ve reached the point to where it’s live.
  9. What happened to the Live TV DVR function in the last server release? The folders in the TV library are now named TV show (2018) instead of TV Show, so now I have new series recordings split across two folders. I can recombine them if this is the naming convention going forward, not a huge deal, but it did cause some confusion. A bigger problem is the shows are no longer remuxed to MKV container on the fly, and I no longer am able to find the configuration for this feature in Emby Server. Was the feature removed? If so, why? I thought MKV was preferred to TS for use in these applications.
  10. I am currently using Emby's Live TV features with an m3u playlist. There are a lot of channels, so finding a specific channel to watch isn't the most intuitive thing. Also, if you want to look at the guide for a specific channel, you have to manually find it. I believe a simple channel search would go a long way to improve the experience. Live TV is missing a couple crucial features, but adding channel search would be a step in the right directions as the web interface (and most apps) doesn't seem to have any Live TV search or sort functionality at all. EDIT: I just found out you can search on the mobile app, but I have not gotten it to work for other apps such as Apple TV or Roku. On those platforms, only programs seem to populate. I may have to try again tomorrow, though.

    Multiple Devices Live TV

Ok, I have seen other topic similar or the same but the answers have been rather short. Here is the situation multiple devices (like 10 devices) multiple users if one user plays a liveTV channel the other user gets bumped and vice versa. I have not made it past 2 users yet without one or the other getting bumped so the reality is only one user at a time it seems. I have seen one response where the moderator suggested selecting more streams when setting up the m3u tuner however the deafultis 0 which the server indicates as unlimited streams which is what I have set. Is there something I'm missing? Should I select 20 streams vs the 0 (unlimited) ? Any suggestions and help is greatly appreciated to get beyond the only one user can play a stream at a time issue. Carl
  12. I have setup Live TV and added an XML scheduler and that is working well. Now that I have this enabled, "On Now" is at the top of my listing in the two apps that I use. In both the web player and on my Shield boxes. I don't watch live TV very often and the images never have cover art so now my main landing screen looks meh. I looked in the apps and I don't see an option to hide the live TV section or move is down so it's not at the top of the home screen. Is there a way to move the live TV section down so I don't see it first in the home screen of my apps?
  13. I noticed Emby is not HW transcoding on my machine anymore. I'm certain it has used hardware to transcode in the past, and pretty sure it was as recently as a couple weeks ago. Now when I play media, I am seeing high CPU utilization from ffmpeg, and 0% GPU utilization. I have an i7-7700, and 2 streams is too much for it to even handle. Any ideas on why it isn't using HW? I checked to make sure HW encoding is enabled in the server settings, and checked the log and it appears that quicksync (libmfx) is enabled in the ffmpeg config (though to TBH I'm not the most experienced with ffmpeg and what don't really know what I'm looking for when it comes to diagnosing). Any thoughts, or anyone else notice this? Server-Log.txt Transcode-Log.txt
  14. I would like to suggest a new feature, or to get some insight on how to achieve something similar if possible already. I schedule a few series, and would like to only sync sone of them selectively and automatically to individual targets. The only thing I found so far it's the ability to sync ALL new content, or individual show only when they complete recording. Ideally, I wish I could schedule a new series recording and decide upfront which subscribers will get synchronized, and at what quality. I also liked for tagging a show so it would be sent to a different category which will be setup for syncing new items, but no luck there either. Thank you for the help!

    3.2.70.0 Live TV Launches 2 ffmpeg.exe processes

I just noticed that when I launch a live TV stream the server is creating two ffmpeg processes, both using a good amount of CPU. I thought it may have something to do with having Mediabrowser Server and Emby Server in the programs list, so I uninstalled both and reinstalled Emby Server 3.2.70.0, but the problem still exist. I do not recall this behavior happening before the upgrade and I think my previous version was 3.2.36.0. I have tried multiple channels and different browsers using the same transcoding setting of 360p since I am accessing over the WAN. 18. Hello community. I have the following problem with my Emby Server, I have loaded an m3u list with IPTV channels, the list works fine as I tried it on VLC without any problem, but when playing the channels via web or using the app for android or windows, the playback stops and then closes on all devices. Do I need to do something extra on the emby server or, what is the problem? I post the logs. Log2.txt Log1.txt

    Live TV has stopped

I just noticed that I can no longer stream Live TV to my android devices. When I click the play arrow in the android app, I notice that NPVR tray icon on my server machine turns red, indicating that the tuner is active, then It returne to white. On my phone it looks like the stream is going to start then the screen just goes black and the player reverts to portrait mode. Using NextPVR still works perfectly. I'm on the latest beta versions on the server and the app. I have NextPVR plugin installed. Please find attached Server and app logs. Let me know if you need more info.
  21. Hello, Sorry if this has been covered before. I am looking to add live TV for use with Emby. I don't want to spend much at the moment. I see on Emby settings it says 'other' under the tuner settings. Does this mean I could buy a cheap USB tuner and it will work? If not could anyone suggest any cheap budget tuners. I would only really use it for recording live TV. Many Thanks for the help in advance
  22. Hi folks, On the Emby web interface, the "Recordings" section is always empty. This, despite plenty of recent successfully recorded shows. Why? The recordings show up just fine in my Recorded Series library. Maybe I misunderstand what's supposed to be in "Recordings" or maybe I've got something improperly configured? Just a curiosity, not a problem. Interested in any feedback. Thanks Marc

    Live TV Image Fetching

Now that Emby is starting to support Tuners more natively, would it be possible for Emby to also fetch images natively? With the new Hauppauge support (which is great btw, thank you), I'm not able to grab images for the videos. Since Emby is already amazing at fetching images, would it be possible to extend this to Live TV?
  24. Hi I'm noob here. I have a Emby Premier account, would like to set up Live TV with Emby on Roku. Live TV back isn't working

This was two hours into a live stream. Upon hitting the back button, the Android TV app would effectively lock up for at least a minute. Once it started playing again, it wasn't back relative to where back was pressed, it was live again. Jumping back effectively doesn't work.
