¿Do you plan to continue releasing new stable versions of the client?
Fabian2101 posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Hi, I want to warn you that the last stable version of the client for Android TV 2.0.83g was released by you in October 2022, a stable version that became obsolete almost immediately because it contained a very old and obsolete version of ExoPlayer as an internal player due to the inconvenience with many files containing DV - HDR10. Then just on January 26, 2023 they released an unstable Beta version 2.0.87g with the solution in the reproduction of many files that contain DV - HDR10 with the change of the internal ExoPlayer version. But since January 26, 2023 you abandoned the development of new stable versions of the client for Android TV with the latest unstable version 2.0.87g. I also want to warn you that the unstable version 2.0.87g has some problems, sometimes when watching several episodes of series one episode after another in a row, sometimes randomly when an episode ends and jumps to the next episode by mistake instead of starting from it. beginning at minute zero, erroneously starts playing in the middle of the episode, or near the end of the episode, when this error happens there is also a small popup legend of a few seconds, from the client for Android TV 2.0.87g that reports that various errors has happened, with the reproduction of movies the same error occurs much less frequently. Most likely you will tell me that instead of using the client for Android TV, that I use the other client for Android smartphones and tablets, but at this moment I have two drawbacks to use the client for smartphones and tablets, the first The problem is that the client Android 3.3.07 and earlier versions produces jumps and jerks in the images when the subtitles appear on the TV screen, with any subtitle format, be it SRT or PGS, just at the moment they appear on the screen. they produce jumps and jerks. The second problem is that the client for smartphones and tablets is for exclusive use with a PREMIERE subscription, and unfortunately, due to the tightening of the block and restrictions on transactions with foreign money imposed by the Argentine government, it is completely impossible to use dollars to buy a subscription PREMIERE. For these reasons, I need you guys to continue to release stable, bug-free versions of the client for Android TV. ¿For everything I have explained to you, I ask if you continue to develop new 100% stable versions without any playback errors in the client for Android TV? -

Recently the logs started filling up with a error that looks related to playback progress. Has anyone seen this? Log attached. embyserver.txt

Hello, I am having the same issue with all three of my media devices, Roku (latest ver) Fire TV ( latest ver ) and Shield TV (latest ver). H264 , DTS MA files all pop-up dialog box "Too Many Errors ..Giving up" P.S ,DVD file TS files 5.1 play fine. If this was isolated to a particular device I would drill into the device as the problem but I am seeing this with all devices. Is this a trans code issues, bit rate issue, please advise. Thx Bnw

Emby had been working and I was ready to switch to using Emby from Plex...then I think it was when I updated to 4.x, all hell broke loose. Suddenly, I was not able to get the Emby server up at all. Just kept getting "cannot connect 8096" type errors. In an attempt to resolve the issue, I finally restored my computer operating system to factory default and reinstalled Windows 7 with no luck. Then I briefly upgraded to Windows 10 and suddenly found Emby server to work. My graphics card was not compatible with Windows 10, so I reverted back to Windows 7 factory fresh. To my surprise, after a fresh download and install, Emby started working once again....for awhile. After a few uses, I got this error and now Emby won't work again. I get this error every time I restart my computer. Not know what to do, I tried to install Emby over my existing and then I got this message. I'm afraid I'm ready to give up on Emby. I don't know how to post any logs or anything. Quite honestly, I just can't even get Emby to start up other then the little icon does show down in my little corner task bar. Otherwise, I can't get anything to actually open on my screen. Figure I would post here in one last attempt to salvage my experience. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on an HP desktop with AMD processor. Thanks.

I want to not report a bug, but give a feedback about a change that destroyed the sync functionality. A premium feature that now is near to useless. Some times ago, for the sake of correcting sync issues, the possibility to sync in a folder of one's choice was deleted. The synced files are now stored in Android/data/com.mb... The problem is, despite deleting the .nomedia files in order to give visibility to the media files, nor phone default players (tried Samsung and HTC on 2 diff. phones (HTC U11 and Samsung Galaxy S9+)) nor 3rd party players like VLC can see (and read) the stored media files. "But you can copy the files in the folder that you want" -Sure, I can do it, but I knew that the sync was here to avoid me that crap. Before this, I had a "bagnole" (car in french slang, yeah that's why I'm ranting so much) playlist. I added a music in this playlist, and emby synced the file(s) that I choosed to be added in the phone, in the folder that I choosed. The result : I just needed to fire the player before driving and the music was played flawlessly. And there's hope I have only actually 1.3 Gb of music and 64GB of internal storage in my principal phone. But others are maybe not with that storage, and maybe not with the same needs with sync (my respect for those who are 10Gb+ to sync, and do copy after for being normally readable) "If you're a linux guru and rooted, I heard something about links with ln in the terminal" -I tried it, Linux is my second name since a long while. It doesn't work because of android pseudo FAT32 for being readable for the MTP protocol. The link is present in the file system, but Android doesn't give a s**t about it. "You can just use emby player in the app" -Yeah I could, if the thing was correctly usable. VLC and other 3rd players can interact with the command buttons on the steering wheel of the car. When I tap next, the players are playing the next song, emby player do a pseudo-fast forward and hang itself. I need to force close it, go to the app, playlist, select, do play or random play again.... and not be easily able to change a track if I want. (There's a protocol called MPRIS2 and I heard that the thing does the work well, if this could help) Being on foot or car, if I'm in a not so well network covered zone, the lauching of emby app is laughable. Force closes, loadings that takes eternity, if the load success, and despite the medias being "synced", I have cuts when network is bad. I cross a border when I drive to work (with the mandatory cell phone network changing) and the cut in the middle of a song is not an agreable experience. "There's some players that are folder based" Why will I need to change my habits because someone decided that a bad idea could be a good one? And basically replacing players that are normally working? So, what to do with this functionality? If there's no change for this, at least put the functionality charge-free, it is in practical barely usable (and the fact that Emby just copied the Plex way of doing the thing, retiring to emby a thing that is better than Plex). Or else, give people the choice. You can keep the default behaviour (with the message "this choice is for better sync compatibility blah blah...) AND propose the choice to sync in the folder we want (if you want with a warning like 'in some phones this does not work so well, be careful'). Because in the actual state of the thing, we pay for a functionality that provide more problems that it resolves. via Imgflip Meme Generator

Your libraries of movies, TV, etc. almost certainly have lots and lots and lots of misidentified items, errors... 5%, perhaps more is possible... And 5% of a large collection, is a lot of items. Wrongly identified. Emby relies on the various databases on the internet, and between them, they inevitably make the odd mistake... That's fair enough. Many factors are involved, bad filenames, rare titles, foreign character, etc, etc... Some are just stupidly wrong. They're going to happen... BUT. We still don't have any tools to find them. You have no way of knowing how many errors are in your libraries. We have to rely on stumbling upon the error, or if you have an intimate knowledge of what titles you do have, you'll spot a few more of the errors perhaps. As attempted a couple of times, some of us have tried combining the grossly, needlessly inadequate 'Reports' feature (now a plugin), with data pulled from the database files with external tools. This has worked OK, but is a royal PITA, and not slick, not quick to do. But it does show you how many errors emby holds. Which might horrify/surprise you. If you want some fun, reinstall emby from scratch, rebuilding your libraries... You'll very quickly see some errors, with many more being there without you knowing. ALL WE WANT is the ability to, at least, list the path, filename, against the title and year from metadata downloaded... This simple feature, ability, would make finding these numerous errors possible, if a little bit slow to process (takes a lot of concentration to check 5,000 filenames, titles, years). Later, yeah, it would be sweet to have it highlight non-exact matches, that would speed up the process immensely. But we need the minimum now. These tools need to be in the core of emby... It's not good enough that this media database application doesn't have the most basic data analysis tool! Path, filename, title, year. Please.

Lately I've noticed something odd when I open the emby apps (WMC, Roku and Andriod). Television titles are now replaced with "<error>" as seen the image attached. Typically, I let Media Center Master do all my fetching before I move something into one of Emby's watched folders but every now and then I forget and just throw something into its folder and just let Embys fetcher do the heavylifting. For whatever reason lately, the fetcher has been showing junk. Any thoughts?

Emby 3.0.5972: Unhandled exception one or more errors occurred
Roseman posted a topic in General/Windows
I installed this version on my laptop, worked great. Now that I want to install it on another system it comes up with that error. Here I read instructions that it might have something to do with mb plus plugin. But the problem is that this folder does not exist on this system so I could delete that plugin. The system is running Windows 10 and Im using portable version. Any suggestions? -
As mentioned in other topic --> http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/31100-emby-isnt-closing-used-network-ports/page-4&do=findComment&comment=324729 I want to report some strange errors that keep appearing in the log. I'll post a resume below and try to discuss a little about each one. Important: I used Emby for Android a lot around 17h of this log, began to experience some connection problems, and when I reached home, I confirmed that LOTS of opened ports weren't being closed (as described in topic above) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DATE: April 26th TIME: 16:03:36 to 20:48:59 (4 hours and 45 minutes) ERRORS SEEN IN LOG: "Error HttpServer: Error in ProcessAccept" --> 448 occurrences This one was already seen by @@Luke in https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/1097 Something related to Mono not trusting SSL certificate chains, I guess. "Error while sending TLS Alert (Fatal:InternalError)" --> 284 occurrences Seems to relate to error above "Error while sending TLS Alert (Fatal:CertificateUnknown)" --> 19 occurrences Seems to relative to first error above WARNINGS SEEN IN LOG: "Warn BaseItem: Unable to find linked item at path" --> 166 occurrences It seems that Library has a very hard time forgetting some items. All those occurences point to files that used to exist but doesn't anymore (renamed, moved or erased). Nothing seems to work here to erase those memories... cleaning old database, removing cache, NOT EVEN REMOVING THE LIBRARIES AND REMAKING THEM (very strange!!) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Can you guys please try to make those errors disappear? Maybe they're related to other errors experienced (open ports not always closing... maybe) But we'll only know for sure after they're gone. Thanks!!

Hi, We have been using Emby for a few months now. Our setup is Emby server on a Windows Server 2008 on the home network, and the Roku emby app. We also use Emby for Android on several smart phones and tablets. Initially we were very satisfies, but the quality of the software is going down after each release. Here are a ***few*** examples: 1. Initially we used to be able to stream MKV movies, but after a few updates to the server, some movies stopped streaming. 2. We used to have no problems with the mp4 format, but after the last server update some mp4 movies don't stream. 3. We add new mp4 movies to the library folder, and the latest server version doesn't recognise them anymore. 4. When we restart the windows server, the Emby service never starts automatically. And it's not the settings. We are currently looking for an alternative, even if we need to pay for it.

Just recently MB3 has had almost 99% CPU utilization. I have to end the process and restart the server. This has been going on for the last week or so. I'm not sure if it has to do with MB+ that I recently installed, but I uninstalled it and I'm still having the issues. I have a large media library, so I'm not sure if that is causing the problem or not as well. I'm on 3.0.54.82.1. I was getting DLNA errors and subtitle download errors, so I turned off both of those features as well, but I'm still having problems with the server being unresponsive because it is processing something in the background. A reboot solves the problem, but not for very long. This last one it was only about 3 hours before the CPU utilization crept back to 99%. server-63556131907.txt

Hello, I'm running mediabrowser server version 3.0.5395.0, with mediabrowser theater version 3.0.5404.16392, on a windows 8.1 system. MBS is running fine, and I can navigate to the web interface without any issues. However, when I attempt to log into MBT, I keep getting the error: "Unable to connect to the remote server". The software was working well last Wednesday, but has since begun throwing this error constantly. I have it set to connect to localhost:8096, with a single administrative user, and no password (it's on my own system, and not configured for remote access). I attempted a full uninstall (clean removal, and reboot), with a reinstall from the website. Having downloaded the new installer, I did a clean reinstall, and now cannot even get past the initial setup wizard. I have attached the setup logs below. My novice review of the logs, seems to show that the software is posting a GET command, to the remote access server, after it gets the localhost information. I noticed this behavior when I would disable the NIC, and receive an instant login failure. With the NIC enabled, I have a short delay before receiving this error. Screenshot is also attached. I have checked, and the user has full management access. Please let me know if you need additional user information and/or screenshots. Is this a glitch with the MBT release version, or is there something else I can do? I would appreciate any suggestions, and will provide additional info if needed. Thank you very much! theater-63549249424.txt
