  2. I've been using Emby for 2-3 years and had no issues accessing my movies from 2 different TV's and my phone while on the network. Today, I'm getting a "Connection Failure" message when I try to sign in from any of these devices. The only thing that has changed in the past 24 hours is my subscription change. I pasted my key into my account and it says I have the lifetime plan in the settings screen. When I open the Emby app on any of the 3 devices, the "Select Server" screen appears. I see my server listed. If I click on it, I get a spinning circle for a few seconds and then the "Connection Failure" message appears. I then tried adding a server and re-entering the In-Home LAN IP address. I again get the spinning circle and then the "Connection Failure" message. If I go to the computer that is running the server and click on the link for my LAN access, it takes me to the sign-in screen like normal. I tried restarting the server and I have confirmed Emby is up to date. Any ideas? Thanks!!

    AppleTV Connection Failure

Hello, I have Emby running on a remote server and I am able to access my library through both iOS and through a web browser, however, when trying to setup the Emby app through my appleTV I run into the following problems. After installing the Emby app I get the option to sign in by using Emby Connect and I have a pin. I go onto a browser and put in my login info along with the pin which all works as it should. The Emby app on my appletv then goes to a screen where I assume that my server is meant to appear but it does not. So I manually try to add my server using my URL but I just get an error saying connection failure. Please could anyone assist me. Thanks.

    Connection Failure Error

Hello, So I just started using Emby and have a pretty basic understanding of how to set up these types of servers(Used PLEX before this but ran into issues with files showing up) but for the life of me I cannot get this to work. I got to the point of getting the server going with media loaded up and I am able to watch it via my laptop but I am not trying to get it so I can watch my media on my Xbox Series X with the Emby Theatre App. At first my server shows up as an option to select - Connection Failed. I proceeded to the "Sign In with Emby" and again "Connection Failed, I have tried manually entering the WAN and LAN server, with the same result. I opened my ports and restarted the Emby Server(Closing down and restarting it), I did a hard reset on my Xbox. Still got the same "Connection Failed" I tried going onto my phone and trying that way but unfortunately I get the same result. I thought maybe it's because I lacked Emby Premiere so I bought a month and that changed nothing. After uninstalling the server and apps and starting from scratch I get the same error.. I'm at a loss on what to do. I couldn't come across anything similar to my issue and now I wonder is there an option I'm missing in settings? I left everything at default.
  5. I have Emby running on a DS213j. Works well most of the time, but every few days will timeout any attempts to connect to the server. Same result on web, Roku, or Android. The timeouts are persistent -- ie, just waiting an hour or day and trying again doesn't resolve the issue. Alternate Roku apps (Beta, Blue Neon) do not work either. Restarting the Diskstation restores my ability to connect. Even just stopping and starting the Emby service from the DSM Package Center also works (the package is listed by DSM as "running" during these errors). I've seen a few similar posts, but not convinced any are the exact same issue... but let me know if this is a known issue. I just rebooted the NAS again, but happy to troubleshoot or gather more info next time the issue crops up. Thanks for your time, just let me know if there's any way I can help. embyserver.txt embyserver-63686227303.txt embyserver-63686321195.txt embyserver-63686364625.txt hardware_detection-63686364671.txt
  6. Hi, For some reason Emby no longer works on my Synology and I receive the below message. I can still access my files on Synology but cannot use Emby in an issue that has lasted this week and was hoping someone may be able to advise what I must do.
  7. Suddenly the Emby Media Server seems to have a problem. Both my Emby apps (Windows 7 Emby Theater and Android app) say, "Connection Failure: We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." On the server (Windows Server 2016 Standard), I right-click on Emby Server in the task tray and click "Restart Emby Server," but Emby Tray says, "Unable to restart server." In the Task Manager on the server, I can kill the Electron processes (two of them) or embytray.exe [Details tab] (two of them), and start the server again from the Start Menu > Emby > Emby Server. This works temporarily, but now we get to the where the problem started I think, If I launch Emby Theater (Windows 7) again and start scrolling down through Albums (as I was doing to see if all the album covers artwork was there), I get about half way through my Albums and suddenly no more album artwork is displayed, only titles/artists. I click on one to see if it will bring up the album, and suddenly Emby Theater can't connect again. This seems to start the whole process over. I go back to the server and can't restart it; I have to kill it, and then restart it. I'm not sure what's going on now. Can anybody help please? I have attached the server log, if that helps. Thanks, James embyserverlogs.zip

    connection failure

hi i ahd reset my server and when start than server gime me option is connection failure We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again.
  9. Hey all! I'm attempting to set up Emby to run externally. However, whenever I attempt to connect with my Android device in either Chrome or the Emby app, I can see the server but get the message "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." I've been doing a fair bit of research on this issue and haven't been able to find anything that has solved the problem (though plenty of others with similar issues). I've gone through the entire Connection Troubleshooter with no luck. I'm uncertain if my router is blocking traffic and how to check if so. I'm on AT&T U-verse. The combined modem/router that AT&T gave us should be in bridge mode, and I'm using my own router for WiFi and ethernet connections. I've set up a static IP for my PC that's running Emby Server. I've also set up port forwarding on my router for 8096 and that static IP address. Now it shows up as the local address. The remote address, however, is different: [image removed] I can connect to the local one from inside my network, no problem there. Still having problems connecting remotely. I've tried both signing in with Emby Connect (the server shows up but gives me the error message when I attempt to connect) and adding a server manually for both the remote and in-home addresses (same message) on my Android from both Chrome and the Emby app. canyouseeme.org is showing my public IP address at port 8096 is not connecting ("Connection refused"). I suspect the problem is due to the difference between the two IP addresses, possibly due to the AT&T U-verse modem. I am unable to use that IP address, however, in my port forwarding (my router insists upon 10.166.*.*, which is different from the public IP). I did set "External domain" to the same IP as the In-Home (LAN) access just for kicks and that didn't seem to work either. The attached log file does have an "error processing request" but I don't know if it's related. I did some digging on the forum, on port forwarding in general, and so forth, and now I'm here. Has anyone else run into this particular problem when connecting remotely? Thanks.
  10. Hello all, Looking for a little help on a couple issues: 1. I have Emby installed on my laptop and my father's (separate homes/networks). They're both setup the same way with the server/web app running on the same machine on Win 10 Home. Both installs run the server under localhost and accessed via the chrome browser as http://localhost:8096/web/home.html. Everything was running fine on my father's machine until today. Now Chrome just displays a black screen when he uses the web app. He indicates he doesn't even see any of the navigation. When he first told me he didn't see any movies I thought he accidentally deleted the file folder but that's when I found out the entire screen is black. To the best of my knowledge nothing has changed on his laptop between yesterday and today but it's possible an update happened (either Windows or Chrome). I had him restart the server and clear the cache on chrome/restart chrome but this did nothing. Rebooting the laptop also didn't resolve the issue. I then had him try the URL in the Win 10 native browser "Edge" and it works fine so it's obviously just a Chrome thing. I found other posts on this but the only resolution seemed to be that it "fixed itself". I believe he's on Emby Version 3.2.13.0 like me but I'm not positive. I updated him recently but he could be a version behind. Any thoughts on what else to check? My last resort was going to be to uninstall/re-install chrome and Emby if needed. I haven't encountered this myself which is why I'm at a loss as to what the issue might be given it's working on another browser. The only problem is that Edge and Firefox don't have chromecast ability otherwise I would have him use one of those for now. 2. Given I couldn't resolve the black screen of death over the phone with him I discovered the Emby Theater app in the Windows store and thought I could get him to install that until I can fix Chrome. I first tested this on my laptop before I walk through an install with him over the phone. Problem is I can't get this to work on my laptop. I get "Connection Failure" connecting to the local server. I found similar posts on this and supposedly the requirement is to be on Win 10 Anniversary version which I am. How do I troubleshoot this? Is there something on the server I have to enable? I tried just connecting on the server that it already found on my machine but that gives a Connection Failure so I tried adding a server with my local IP and "localhost" but still the same thing. Are there any ideas on this? Is there something to look at in the server log or does the app have it's own logs? I couldn't find a version number for the app in the store. I'm assuming it's the latest. If logs are needed from my father's machine I will provide them on Saturday when I go visit. I was hoping there might be some things I could try that aren't mentioned above. Thanks!
  11. I am not able to connect to my server locally unless I switch my firewall off in Avast. Then everything works fine. In my Avast settings, I have the following Application rule, but it's still not working. Any ideas?
  12. Hi guys - I've been searching for a replacement for Media Browser that I used via WMC on Windows 7, and now that I have Windows 10 it's time to find new software that allows me to show my media library in a compelling type way. I discovered that Emby is the "new" Media Browser, so thought I'd give it a go. I wasn't able to use the Free Trial effectively as by time I got the Server going, the trial had expired, so forked out the $6 to use the application and now that won't work either. The issue is that once I have installed the server, and then launched the App, all seems to be well as it clearly identifies my server automatically (see screenshot): But clicking the box on the right hand side does absolutely nothing and doesn't given an error message (which is annoying in itself as there doesn't appear to be anything wrong, but nothing works) I have checked my logs and attached it here. I have ensured that the server is visible as it asks me whether Windows Firewall should allow this app through (as per the standard Windows dialogue box) and have agreed to that, so unsure why this is happening. Any advice based on this is appreciated. It's a little frustrating given I've just paid to use the app, and we haven't really got off to a good start! Thanks in advance. Best wishes Mike. Connection Failure

As of a few days ago I have not been able to reach my Emby Server outside of my own network. I have been able to previously for a while then it just stopped. When ever I try to log into my server outside my network whether it be Android app, Android chrome or chrome on windows 7 and mac, I have been getting the same message; "Connection Failure - We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." I have tried deleting the server and creating a new one to log into but the same thing happens. I have also double and triple checked my port forwarding settings and cross reference my IP address with the port forwarding. Running my Server on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Emby Server Version 3.0.5621.4 Chrome Version 43.0.2357.124 m Mobile Chrome Version 43.0.2357.92 Emby Version 2.2.96 Any help would be great as this is doing my head in. Thanks
