  1. I did a quick search and didn't see any requests like this, so hopefully this is not a duplicate. The situation that lead to this request was primarily relating to podcasts, but I'm sure there are other situations and use cases for this functionality. Background: I started a new podcast a friend recommended, said podcast is actually a video podcast rather than audio. It seems to work fine and all, but when I go to listen on my mobile device (Android phone) using the Emby app, because it's a video I'm locked into playing it as a video. If I lock my screen it stops the playback, if I minimize the app to go to another app it only stays playing if I keep it in the picture in picture mode with the video still on screen somewhere. For the first situation I can use the lock controls button and just leave my screen running to drain down my battery, but for the second situation it's kinda obnoxious to have that PiP window up. Request Version 1 (in my mind this is more ideal): Enable a playback option (maybe under quality) to force it to an audio only stream through transcoding. Would have the added benefit of saving data usage on the mobile device as well. Request Version 2 (more basic, probably easier to achieve?): Enable a setting or something to where videos can keep playing on the mobile app even if the screen is locked or the app is minimized to the background.
  2. Hey Emby Team, I hope this message finds you well. I've been encountering a peculiar issue with audio playback in the Emby app on my primary device, an Android phone (SM-J600G, Android 10). This problem has persisted for about a year, and I thought it's high time to bring it to your attention. Description: The issue manifests when attempting to play songs from my music library. Occasionally, the selected song takes an unusually long time to play, and I notice that the media playback notification doesn't display the image of the selected song. Subsequently, any subsequent attempts to play songs from my music library fail. Strangely enough, the tracks, albums, or playlists that I attempted to play during this issue spontaneously start playing later when I'm not using the app, or when watching movies or shows. Observations: Selected song takes longer to play. No image of the selected song in the media playback notification. Behavior: Unable to play any song from the music library when the issue occurs. Version Information: Emby Server Version: 4.8.0.63 beta Emby Android App Version: 3.3.56 (latest pre-release) Device Information: Model: SM-J600G Android Version: 10 Steps to Reproduce: Launch Emby app. Select a song from the music library. Observe the two signs mentioned above. Additional Notes: I haven't had the opportunity to test this on other devices as my current setup revolves around this primary device. This issue has been persistent since I started using Emby, and its intermittent nature makes it challenging to pinpoint the root cause. I'm reaching out to the community and the Emby team for insights and assistance in resolving this matter. Thanks for your time and support! Best, Dinesh Shrestha
  3. I have emby running in a docker on an Unraid server. I do not use emby connect. I have an android tv, Amazon fire TV stick and mobile via web browser client. Both the android TV and fire TV stick apps will not connect to the emby server if I lose my internet connection. The browser works fine on bothe my phone and the android TV. Are the apps doing phone home for some reason? Any suggestions?
  4. I get this error when trying to play a video: Playback Error No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details. This error only started a few days ago when I updated the server. Any help would be appreciated. OS: Windows 10 Emby Server: Version 4.6.7.0 The video file is a .mkv (attached screenshot of details). The error occurs when i try to play it on the following: in Chrome on the Android phone(Android 9) Android Emby app (Android 9). all the vids not in emby work fine, and the video plays fine on localhost emby theater app on the desktop issue mostly on the phone app even when connected to the same network The video plays fine on my windows machine using VLC, Windows Media Player and the built-in "Movies & TV" app, I hope I attached everything that is needed to help with this Something interesting about this problem is that only some of the shows the recently got add are getting this error but older content works fine. Ever file is MKV internal subs (i need to make it external later). embyserver.txt

    Possible to add HDR filter?

I use it often in Plex.
  6. As the title implies , i am unable to direct play (x265 ) hevc vidoes through the Emby android app. The emby server is hosted on Ubuntu 20 and i am using the latest emby beta v4.6.0.28 1) Allow video playback that requires transcoding 2) Allow video playback that requires conversion without re-encoding Currently these two options are disabled for my user as i need to direct play the hevc file but it is always failing and outputs the playback error - No compatible streams are currently available . Please try again later or contact your system administrator I have attached the debug mode logs below . Hopefully that would help embyserver.txt
  7. Hi, I recently setup a Raspberry Pi 4B/8GB as an Emby media server. Things are for the most part going great, but I ran into a problem when enforcing HTTPS externally. Over HTTPS, web browser media playing works fine, but the Emby Android Mobile App doesn't. I can browse the content on the media server, but trying to play any will result in a long loading icon followed by the error "No compatible streams are currently available". If I disable HTTPS enforcement and switch to using HTTP, the App works without issue. I tried searching the forums for an answer and located two similar (but not exactly the same) topics: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/57844-playback-error-no-compatible-streams-are-currently-available/page/2/ https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/95362-cant-connect-to-emby-server-with-app-android-through-https-from-outside-the-network/&tab=comments#comment-989045 In each case it seems the problem stems from the use of HTTPS. Is this a known issue? I'm attaching the latest log file from the Android App, the attempt to view the content occurred at timestamp Mon Mar 15 22:09:10 EDT 2021. I'm also attaching the latest log file from the Media Server. Let me know if there's anything else I can provide. Versions: Media Server: Emby Server 4.5.4.0 Android App: Emby for Android 3.1.73 Thank you, Jaysin

    Persian Subtitle font problem

Hi thanks for your nice apps. android app have problem with Persian subtitle. this font is bad and some alphabets doesn't show correctly (like what you see in the attached photo) we have bad font in the web and TV too. but they can show all alphabets Please change this fonts, I suggest to use "B Koodak" font for Persian subtitles as default. it's most popular font for subtitles in the Persian.
  9. There are no issues with video playback except for anime ASS/SSA subtitles and the chapters, these are mostly minor. The ass/ssa signs look a lot more brighter at times and the syncing for the sign text are a bit off by a second, these are minor and don't really affect the experience but it's still a bug. now for chapters, the name of the file isn't shown when you click a specific chapter scene for example (check the circle) Now for the music playback, the only issue I have for this is that the seek does not work, it would stop playing the file or completely closes it example Screen Recording 20201201-082731 Emby 1-1.mkv yes, same applies to the beta version. is it possible to go back to the older player that is mpv? running this on samsung galaxy s10
  10. I was an Emby premiere customer, however I cancelled because I could not consistently connect via cellular. I would get errors that prompted me to log in. When I would enter my credentials, it would say they were wrong. I'm certain I was logging in with the with the proper information. Stranger than this, I would switch to my Plex account and then within about 10-15 minutes I would have access to my Emby server. I'd like to re-subscribe to Emby. It looks great and even in my home, it's smoother. I've started having trouble accessing my media on Plex via cellular data and have heard only crickets from them. Is there a setting I should change or something in the Emby app to get this fixed. I would appreciate any help or advice. Thank you in advance.
  11. Hello, I'm attempting to listen to my audiobooks on my server via the Android app, and there doesn't seem to be a "resume from..." playback option? When I load the file in a web browser it has the resume playback as the first option, but when I select it on the Emby android app the only options available are Play, which starts from the beginning each time. How do I get it to resume playback from where I left off on the app?
  12. Above screen is Android's app now playing screen for music. Wouldn't be awesome if all artist's listed have links to their detail screen? Above screen is Android's app now playing screen for music. Wouldn't be awesome if all artist's listed have links to their detail screen?
  13. Suddenly the Emby Media Server seems to have a problem. Both my Emby apps (Windows 7 Emby Theater and Android app) say, "Connection Failure: We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." On the server (Windows Server 2016 Standard), I right-click on Emby Server in the task tray and click "Restart Emby Server," but Emby Tray says, "Unable to restart server." In the Task Manager on the server, I can kill the Electron processes (two of them) or embytray.exe [Details tab] (two of them), and start the server again from the Start Menu > Emby > Emby Server. This works temporarily, but now we get to the where the problem started I think, If I launch Emby Theater (Windows 7) again and start scrolling down through Albums (as I was doing to see if all the album covers artwork was there), I get about half way through my Albums and suddenly no more album artwork is displayed, only titles/artists. I click on one to see if it will bring up the album, and suddenly Emby Theater can't connect again. This seems to start the whole process over. I go back to the server and can't restart it; I have to kill it, and then restart it. I'm not sure what's going on now. Can anybody help please? I have attached the server log, if that helps. Thanks, James embyserverlogs.zip
  14. As the title says, the android app isn't playing subtitles on synced content. Subtitles work on non-synced stuff, and I went to where the file itself is stored and the file has the embedded subtitle track in it, and it works in a different media player. It also shows up as an option in the subtitle selection menu, but they just don't show up when selected.
  15. A couple of questions: 1. I have a significant amount of artists lacking metadata (fetches metadata for individual albums) but nothing for the actual artists. Adding the last.fm plugin didn't alter much of that either. A few examples of artists lacking metadata, even after doing individual re-scans: Khalid, Future, Roy Woods, Arty, Billie Eilish. In other words, popular artists with metadata available via MusicBrainz/Last.fm. 2. Plex pulls each artists top tracks as part of the metadata, is this possible with Emby? 3. I've added multiple artists to my favorites, however when I'm selecting the favorite artists section none of them load, i.e the only visible element is the "play all, shuffle, sort by name e.t.c." menu against the dark grey background, see image below.Tried the Android app (Note 8) as well as desktop browser (chrome, no addons). 4.The "More like this" section recommends the same artists for all of them (despite having at least 100 unique artists available) i.e it's not just bad recommendations it's the exact same ones. See image below. 5. What is the simplest method to group collaborative tracks under one artist (i.e tracks with features seem to be picked up and labeled as "artist a, artist b" and I would prefer tracks with feature to be listed under the artist who released them (not as their own collaborative item). 6. The Android app I've installed does not look like the screenshots available on Google Play. Are they taken with one of the premiere themes? I use a Galaxy Note 8 and i'm running the Emby for Android (not the TV app). I haven't done a complete removal and installation of my server because I spent a significant amount of time marking TV/Movies as watched and I've yet to figure out if/how you could back this up, but I did attempt to remove and recreate the music library (however the favorite artists somehow kept their mark?) so perhaps a clean install of the entire server is what I have to do. Worth noting that the tracks with the problems above have been through Picard prior to being scanned by Emby. My server runs on Linux Mint, but since these questions are about the service and not so much the server, I posted here. If it's in the wrong section please move it. Thanks in advance.

    App won't log onto server

Hi all I have updated to the latest version of the android app, when I try to login I put the username & password it finds my server but comes up with a message Connection Failure" We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again. I have checked the server it is running, I have rebooted my Samsung tablet I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but it still comes up with the same message. I have also downloaded the latest version of the server from the website, still same error message. I have the android app installed on my Samsung S5 and have the same issue If I try from the site I can log in no problem Any Ideas?
  17. I'm on latest versions of the Server and Android Mobile App Have Next PVR as TV back-end and NPVR Plugin My TV files are .ts Since the last 3 updates I can no longer play my recorded TV. This also occurred back around the 8th of January (see post - https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/43034-static-green-emby-symbol-appears-on-screen/page-3) but was fixed with subsequent updates, but has now returned. With HD channels the only way to get them to play is by changing the audio from Eng AAC_LATM stereo to Eng Dolby Digital 5.1 With SD channels there is only Eng AAC_LATM stereo, so these cannot be played at all. Changing the playback Quality does only throws the error: There was an error processing the request. Please try again later. Also trying to play these files in the Server causes it to lock up with the spinning circle. All other apps such as ET, Windows Film and TV app play the files perfectly. Please find attached App log and Server log. There were no ffmpeg - transcode logs created at the time I did this test example. The test involved starting the app, selecting a HD recording, selecting play, then changing the audio stream. Let me know if you need more info.
  18. In my initial tests, I set up emby on android, connecting to a ubuntu server. I had it connected via wifi, and tested playback with movies/tv, and even live tv. All worked flawlessly. Then I tested playback over 4G. I was amazed that it worked, especially because I didn't use emby connect and I don't think I ever specified my public ip to the app. But there I was streaming live tv and movies while sitting in the mall waiting on my wife. I was very impressed. Now, after dertermining that emby would suit my needs and testing emby for kodi locally on a spare Rpi, I am ready to transition over. But all of a sudden playback on my phone doesn't work. I haven't changed anything that I know of. It doesn't matter if it is locally over wifi connected directly to the emby port, or externally over 4G going through my reverse proxy. Streaming and transcoding work fine in chrome from an external location going through the reverse proxy. On my phone I get: Playback error: There was an error processing the request. Please try again later. I know it attempting to transcode: my transcode log: http://pastebin.com/2jFK5E8a I don't know much about dlna profiles yet, thinking that since I am using the android and kodi plugins, and the web interface, I wouldn't be using dlna. Are these profiles used for the app connection as well? Maybe it is a profile issue.
  19. I am having a minor issue with EMBY Server displaying episodes yet to be aired in the 'Upcoming' tab. If i am using the android app it shows all unaired episodes perfect but when using server from any browser, it only shows one show (Ballers). Just wondering how to get all episodes showing. Not sure if a log file is needed as it isn't a particular date. EMBY SERVER version 3.0.5675.1 EMBY FOR ANDROID version 2.3.53

    Connection Failure

Hi, Since the Android update a few days ago with the new VLC player thing I have been unable to access Emby outside my network either via Android app or app.emby.media. I can log in, but when I select my server it comes up with the message: "Connection Failure" "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please Ensure it is Running and try again." I have no antivirus or defender blocking it as it usually works fine, I can still remote into my PC via TeamViewer so internet is no issue. EMBY SERVER v3.0.5675.1 EMBY FOR ANDROID v2.3.80 Also as a side note, I still need help with another topic I posted about a few days ago. http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/23539-transcoding-issue/ Thanks SERVER 25-07-15 .txt
  22. *No Actual issue* I am currently using Emby Server on web client and Emby app. I think the system is amazing and makes creating a movie library kinda fun. One or Two things that I think might go nicely are; - A fast forward/rewind button (maybe even a skip forward/backwards 5, 10 or 15 minutes button) - When using the seek bar it can be a little tricky to get the seek point to the right part of the video/song. Was wondering if it might be possible to have some sort of frame search seek bar so that if need be I could move the seek point to the exact spot on the seek bar. (I have left a picture to show what I mean). Thanks

    Connection Failure

As of a few days ago I have not been able to reach my Emby Server outside of my own network. I have been able to previously for a while then it just stopped. When ever I try to log into my server outside my network whether it be Android app, Android chrome or chrome on windows 7 and mac, I have been getting the same message; "Connection Failure - We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." I have tried deleting the server and creating a new one to log into but the same thing happens. I have also double and triple checked my port forwarding settings and cross reference my IP address with the port forwarding. Running my Server on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Emby Server Version 3.0.5621.4 Chrome Version 43.0.2357.124 m Mobile Chrome Version 43.0.2357.92 Emby Version 2.2.96 Any help would be great as this is doing my head in. Thanks
  24. Afternoon, Not had the need to post for a while as not had issues, until now. With the update 2.2.03 i have lost remote control to any Android device. I have tried to remote control from android to android and using the web browser on the server machine but to no avail. It would be grateful if you guys could resolve this issue, as use it allot p.s where did the auto sign-in go?
  25. I get the above message when trying to fast forward to skip adds in my recorded TV. This used to work in earlier versions. I can pause the TV once then the app locks up with the above message. The only way to open the app is to swipe it off the Recent Apps window, and re-start it. In all other video play areas everything is working fine. I'm on Version 2.0.85 Added: The above occurs with the default of leaving HLS on. When I turned HLS off the app hangs immediately when trying to play recorded tv. Prior to version 2 this setting played best.
