Added a couple of new folders to my music library. The new folders are not picked up when I scan the library. I can see no mention of the in the log (Debug mode on). However, if I use Folder display the new folders are there and contain files. In Artist view, the Enya artist is listed but if I go into it the newly added "Watermark" album is not shown. embyserver (6).txt

I'm getting behaviour with a series recording with a single excluded episode (set to do not record this episode) is forgotten when the emby guide refreshes, daily (so it ends up recording it anyway!) Also, if you specify a single program to record using the guide 'record' (not record series, just record) it forgets when the guide refreshes, daily It shows a correct schedule right until the minute after the guide update scheduled task. Then all excluded and extra single episodes are reverted/forgotten! I mainly use 'Keyword type: Title' for series recordings (and hand picked channels), but affects all types of series (keywords added by me, manually set in the guide & series linked in the guide). When I try and 'record' a single non series episode it will be reverted without fail, doesn't matter what channel I pick, time or name. I had a look at the log and it seems to remove each channels program data before re-adding it (and I'm assuming this is where the single episode customisations are lost!) not sure if this is standard behaviour. Guide data set to 14 days, update task occurs daily at 8am, done the usual reboots and standard diagnosing - no luck. Also tried with slightly different emby 'guide data source', same issue. Any clues or hints appreciated - not sure what is going on or how to troubleshoot further Dexter (full debug log file attached) 2025-01-08 08:00:01.084 Info SecurityManager: Registered for livetv-plugin 2025-01-08 08:00:01.802 Info LiveTvManager: Refreshing guide with 14 days of guide data 2025-01-08 08:00:01.808 Info LiveTvService: [NextPvr] Start GetPrograms Async, retrieve all Programs 2025-01-08 08:00:01.808 Info LiveTvService: Channel EPG: DVB/ATSC EPG 2025-01-08 08:00:01.808 Info HttpClient: GET http://localhost:8866/service?method=channel.listings&sid=d14766e6bb8d450a94a68960b5bcac86&start=1736319601&end=1737529201&channel_id=7148 2025-01-08 08:00:01.876 Debug LiveTvManager: Channel BBC ONE Lon has 0 programs. 192 are updated. 2025-01-08 08:00:02.087 Info SqliteItemRepository: Removing 191 old programs from channel 3907833 BBC ONE Lon embyserver-63871964100 (1).txt

Hi [edited for spelling plus one change] I have struggled with this and tried everything I can think of... Emby server 4.8.3.0 (yes I do know there's a 3rd level update...). [edit - have installed the update on second NAS and am running a full scan...] I have an almost perfect catalogue now, just as I want it EXCEPT for one film. (I'm sure there are more issues but I haven't seen them yet.) In my media library, in the Movies library I have many sub folders etc. When I get down to Harry Potter, I have a folder for each film, 1 to 8. The movie files themselves are each in one of those folders, and all is good. Recently I got the UHD BluRay version of all 8 films. Rather than put them in the existing folders, I created a separate UHD folder under Harry Potter, at the same level as the folders for each of the movies In there I put all 8 .mkv rips. The library scan has picked up the first 7 but stubbornly refuses to show the UHD version of film 8, Deathly Hallows Part 2. It has created a (sparse) .nfo file but won't show the file in the Movies library I've deleted and recreated, scanned libraries multiple times, removed the file then scanned then added the file back and scanned again: still not there I have copied the HP 7 .nfo and edited it (it contained almost nothing) to have all the actor info, the IDs in TVDB, IMDb and tmdb correctly replaced and other detailed info removed (can't directly edit the metadata in Emby as it's not seen). No change. There is an interesting entry in the logs: 2024-04-21 16:13:14.087 Info Server: http/1.1 Response 204 to host7. Time: 3ms. It's clear the item is seen but is deleted. I have two Asustor NAS with the media folder replicated to the second. With Emby enabled (same version) on the second NAS, it too fails to see, or at least display, that UHD copy of that one film.

So I have a Emby Premiere subscription, which in theory should allow me to stream between my TV and on my phone and so on. I'm running my server on my main gaming PC, which is a high spec AMD config. My files are all stored on my B3 Excito server running debian. In theory there should be no issue in video playback, especially since my internet is a fiber connection here in Sweden with 250MB/s down and 250MB/s up. Even though all of the things listed above, sometimes my video playback doesn't play at all, lags or freezes. I read that subtitles may be the issue, it's not something I have encountered as being an issue but idk. Furthermore, my iPhone doesn't seem to be able to reach Emby when I'm outside - even though it could before - and Emby Connect has never worked for me. Would be very thankful for any help on the matter so I can solve these issues once and for all. Could different video formats slow down the playback? I know MKV formats are challenging for some video playback softwares for example.

Emby is running on windows For starters I have recently moved to a new location after having my emby server accessible via its domain for a month or so. I can access emby remotely with my WAN IP along with my HTTP port number (HTTPS port isnt working). Im using cloud flare as for my SSL and DNS provider. when I attempt to connect using my domain I get a Error 522 (cloud flare cant connect to my server) I have updated my WAN IP to the one ive been assigned by my ISP. Tried changing the ports being forwarded (80,443,8920,8096) I have rebooted my computer and emby multiple times and updated my DNS A name a few times as well. AName: emby|MyWanIP (Domain is being proxied by cloud flare) Any tips on how to narrow down what is causing my issue? Could it be that my ISP is blocking the ports im using or is it cloud flare?

Hi, I have a question about adding h.265 support to my htpc and how I can get decent performance without breaking the bank. My current system does not support h.265 and I most likely will have to replace/add some component. I am looking for what options are available. My 4K collection is growing and I am finding my machine to struggle with h.265 content. CPU is at max and I even had to lower transcode quality compared to what I would easily use on h.264 movies. I think upgrading is a wise solution here. I am not interested in getting a new machine. These movies are all RIPs from original 4K HDR blu-ray disks, saved as .mkv (I prefer to have my collections stored in digital format) They are somewhere between 40 and 60 GB in size each - if someone has an idea on how to get them a bit smaller without hurting image quality too much, I would appreciate that as well. (I guess cutting them to 21:9 would already help a lot) Converting time is not an issue, since my machine stands still most of the time, I can easily let it run for days in the background (I do DVR-Recording in the background though, so low-priority transcode would be welcome). But I have no clue on how to use such software. I‘m running Debian and have installed Handbrake (GUI and CL), but it‘s much different from the counterpart on Windows (which I don‘t know too well either). BTT Currently I am running a Xeon E3-1240v5. No gpu or other relevant hardware. No built-in graphic Chip on the CPU, since the Motherboard has a graphical unit built in (which at time of purchase was more than enough), it runs headless. I was considering something like the E3-1245v6, but thought I ask here first before making any decision, since it‘s not a cheap one. I was thinking about a cheap GPU, but my Motherboard has no 16x slots, since it‘s not „a gamer motherboard“. A 3.0 8x is the only slot I can offer (which should do). Will Transcoding hurt the image quality? Will h.265 support keep HDR on transcode? I seem to have some bandwith issue, forcing me to max out at 4k/40mbit. Not sure though if that‘s the processor running on it‘s limit with h.265. When pushing movies onto my HTPC I get pretty much gigabit speed and the drives have more than enough throughput to saturate gigabit. I do play my movies from my AppleTV4k, but sometimes I feel like transcode is happening, probably due to bandwidth limits? Thanks for any advice on this in advance!

I have an apple tv 4k, and using emby with the free liscence I'm having an issue where I'm trying to play my Emby files on Apple TV and it doesn't even want to play. I'm thinking now is it because I have to own Emby Premiere?

I have seen a few other topics with this issue and they all had to post their logs to get to the issue so ill just post it from the get go. message i see is "Emby Server is loading. Please try again shortly." waiting does not seem to have any affect. I have recently had to move all my media to temporary storage to change the cluster size that restricts me to 32TB. Then formatted to 128kb clustersize. No other change has been made. other log files are days old and really large but im happy to provide them if needed. embyserver.txt

I have a strange request, and I understand if I do not get a response here. For my PC (running windows 10) setup at home, I use Emby for my at home use, and Plex as my remote access server. Last night the town I live in had a power outage, and when I was able to get my PC back on, everything worked fine, except for Plex. It crashes every time I try to start it, it will show in the tray for a second and then disappear. The only difference in the way I have the 2 setup is I have port forwarding enabled for Plex. I have tried everything I can think of to troubleshoot and solve the problem, such as: -uninstall and reinstall -roll back the version -restart my modem/router -uninstall my antivirus and reinstall without anivirus -disable my firewall -disable port forwarding -uninstall any unused programs -use resource monitor to see if anything is running on the same port -made sure my pc was up to date I have tried everything I can think of and nothing has fixed the problem. I have posted to the Plex forums and haven't received a single response, I never do on their forums. But I've always received help when I've come to these forums, and I was hoping maybe, someone could at least look at my log file (it seems to be the only log file updating whenever I try to start plex) and maybe give me any idea of what the problem is. I understand if I don't get a response or anything here, but I was out of ideas and frustrated with no help coming from the Plex forums. I just want to get my setup running the way it was yesterday before the power went out. Thanks, Nick Plex Media Server.log

Hello all, I have been having issues setting up my tv lineup on my mac mini, getting my tuner set up works flawlessly but when I try to add the guide data it errors out and says "There was an error downloading tv lineups. Please ensure your information is correct and try again." I have Emby Premiere and the key has been pasted in, and when I look at the logs it doesn't reference anywhere that is the issue like other reports. I am on a fresh install of emby and made sure to remove all traces of it, to include what is in the /Users/%Username%/.config folder. I've done this multiple times now, and was combing through the logs and noticed this tid bit right at the time of requesting the tv guide lineups: I honestly have no idea what else to try at this point because this used to work without a hitch on previous versions, and I know internet is not an issue because I have used different internet connections to try and troubleshoot this. Any Ideas as to what I could try next? **PS I can't upload logs as I am on a restricted network that would flag the attachment and make it fail to upload.** Full Log: https://pastebin.com/D2TAVzxa Update: I was able to get everything working on version 4.1.0.26 without a hitch, so this seems to be a bug with 4.1.1.0 Update 2: I was able to successfully update the server from 4.1.0.26 to 4.1.1.0 and maintain my guide setup and refresh the guide data successfully. Here is a link to the log after a successful update and refresh for comparison: https://pastebin.com/quGFcbnL Hopefully this will help future users, and hopefully be able to find a resolution because I am afraid that when I add my other HDHomerun device on Tuesday that this issue will come back up because it is another zip code.

IPhone app not connecting to server (but does connect via browser)
ErinDave posted a topic in Apple iOS / macOS
Hey folks, Sorry if this topic is already covered in another thread. I've just downloaded and installed Emby yesterday evening, a server on my windows computer and apps on my samsung device (android) and my wife's apple device (iphone). We recently "cut the cord" on our internet and will be using Emby to stream from our computer to our phones at home through a router. Everything was virtually seamless with installing, lots of really clear instructions, and really well designed server dashboard. The experience on my android device was equally seamless, connecting straight-forward, and I'm stoked at how usable and responsive the app is. On the iphone, I'm having trouble connecting via the app, but I can connect by putting the server ip into a web browser. But the web version is slow to load pages and not a great user experience. After wifi hotspotting with the phone I was able to secure a connection to the server in the app, and I can see the list of movies and shows in the library. But when I click on a movie I see the movie description and options to play, etc., but no images load and clicking on the play button does nothing. Any insight? Thanks, DC- 14 replies

Hey all! I'm attempting to set up Emby to run externally. However, whenever I attempt to connect with my Android device in either Chrome or the Emby app, I can see the server but get the message "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." I've been doing a fair bit of research on this issue and haven't been able to find anything that has solved the problem (though plenty of others with similar issues). I've gone through the entire Connection Troubleshooter with no luck. I'm uncertain if my router is blocking traffic and how to check if so. I'm on AT&T U-verse. The combined modem/router that AT&T gave us should be in bridge mode, and I'm using my own router for WiFi and ethernet connections. I've set up a static IP for my PC that's running Emby Server. I've also set up port forwarding on my router for 8096 and that static IP address. Now it shows up as the local address. The remote address, however, is different: [image removed] I can connect to the local one from inside my network, no problem there. Still having problems connecting remotely. I've tried both signing in with Emby Connect (the server shows up but gives me the error message when I attempt to connect) and adding a server manually for both the remote and in-home addresses (same message) on my Android from both Chrome and the Emby app. canyouseeme.org is showing my public IP address at port 8096 is not connecting ("Connection refused"). I suspect the problem is due to the difference between the two IP addresses, possibly due to the AT&T U-verse modem. I am unable to use that IP address, however, in my port forwarding (my router insists upon 10.166.*.*, which is different from the public IP). I did set "External domain" to the same IP as the In-Home (LAN) access just for kicks and that didn't seem to work either. The attached log file does have an "error processing request" but I don't know if it's related. I did some digging on the forum, on port forwarding in general, and so forth, and now I'm here. Has anyone else run into this particular problem when connecting remotely? Thanks.

Troubleshooting: playback shows only the buffered length, not the total length of media
ke2083 posted a topic in General/Windows
Hi, Before anything else I simply must thank you for your otherwise excellent product: I really like Emby and have been using it for over a year now. It's pretty, easy to use and the cross-platform apps are superb. Thank you very much. So, I'm having a problem playing back media. Whether TV shows, movies etc. doesn't matter. They play fine: in the browser, using my Apple TV (4th gen) or the iOS app (iPhone). The catch though is the scrubber doesn't display relative to the length of the media itself, only relative to the amount it has buffered. For example, if 'Dick Spanner: The Case of the Human Cannonball' is 50-ish minutes long then the scrubber will initially show 30-40 seconds total length. Then more will buffer and the total length will go up. In order to skip 20 minutes into the media file, I need to wait for 20 minutes worth of media to buffer before the scrubber will let me go that far. Here's a screenshot of an episode of Father Ted to illustrate: It's only about 5 seconds in, but the scrubber makes it look like we're 2/3 of the way through the episode. It also seems that the media files don't buffer beyond a certain amount- about 5 minutes or so ahead (which makes good sense, saves on bandwidth) but that means I can only skip ahead 5 minutes or so each time. I'd like to be able to start a movie, stop watching it halfway through and then restart it later and scrub to where I left off. I often access the Emby server remotely and, due to remote access problems, it's not uncommon for movies to cut-off or have to be restarted. In those cases Emby isn't necessarily aware of where they left off (so no 'Resume' option) and I must scrub to the correct point manually. Now Emby didn't do this until recently, ie in the last week or so, so I can only imagine its either something I've done to our network (quite possible!) or some setting that I've flipped accidentally. Has anyone seen this? If so, do you know how I might correct it? It's trivial... but surprisingly frustrating! I've attached my Emby server logs (there's only one user in the system). -- Set up details: * Emby is running on a Windows Server 2016 box accessing media from an NFS share over a 10/100 CAT7 ethernet connection. * NFS share is CentOS 7 with a 7 disk (1 spare) RAID6 array. I changed to this from SAMBA a little while ago due to poor performance. * Client devices access either over WiFi or remotely through reverse-proxy. * Emby runs as a standard non-privileged user using the Emby Portable image. * All was going fine until about 10 days ago * Scrubber issue happens on all clients, remote and local. * I've tested (over WiFi) mounting the NFS share as a drive and dragging-n-dropping a file into VLC, which seems to stream it happily with the scrubber adjusted correctly. * NFS share has a network throughput of about 10 meg a second, so can download 1GB in about 1-2 mins The biggest change I've made was 2 weeks ago which involved changing from installing as a service to installing the portable edition- running as a service was difficult when trying to mount network shares, it involves granting the service 'logon as user' rights and all sorts. -- My apologies for the complexity and I hope you might be able to recommend what I'm doing wrong any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your superb product. logs.zip- 2 replies

I ran into a problem trying to log into the Emby app on my new Lumia 950/XLs that I picked up in the recent bogo deal. When I opened the app and entered Server details manually, the app got hung up on "Getting Server details...". The emby server log showed the server was delivering "/mediabrowser/Users/Public?format=json" to the phone and that was the last request. On the phone I went to "About" -> "Logs" -> "Send Logs". In the Phone app log there was an entry that said it was unable to convert "Smart" into "MediaBrowser.Model.Configuration.SubtitlePlaybackMode". When I went through the users list returned by the server, I found Smart, and the user it was connected associated with. After I changed the affected users, the app started working. While I did send this information to the developer, I wanted to update the community in case you encounter a similar experience while the developer updates the app.

It happens in some cases that users have issues in one of the MB clients with specific video file(s). I think it help a lot when others can test the specific file to try to reproduce the issue or to confirm the issue isn't specific to the media file. Here is a quick tutorial on how to make a sample of a MKV file using MKVToolNix (MKVMerge GUI): Add the file to sample and choose the destination where the sample will be: Choose the options as per below and "start muxing". I like to choose 5 files so I can choose a specific scene that helps showing the issue... Upload one of the samples on your DropBox (or whatever you use) and share it. (don't choose the last file as it's a copy of the entire video) Then delete the files... ***There is also another faster but without GUI way to sample a video file and also mkvmerge will in most cases re-write the time stamps (which could be the root of the problem that needs testing). ffmpeg -i "inputmovie.ext" -t 60 -c copy "outputmovie.ext" Here is my tutorial (my preferred way): Put a copy of the ffmpeg.exe file somewhere simple to work from (d:\samples in my example) Open a Command Prompt (as administrator) and type the above command by replacing inputmovie.ext by the original video file name (including full path) and outputmovie.ext by whatever file name you want (with same extension). "-t 60" is the sample duration you want. When done (really fast), you should have your sample ready in the folder (in this case; d:\samples)
