  1. Hi, So I'm mainly watching content with ASS subtitles and this has been an "issue" for some time now but I thought that I'd finally bring it up. Regardless of the video's origin it's always happens to be that the subtitles lag a little bit behind, like microseconds but it's apparent enough for the naked eye. The whole reason behind ASS subtitles is that it's supposed to blend in with the video so that it looks like it's actually a part of that video, but that immersion is broken with the current players of both of the apps. Timing is 50% of ASS's purpose while the actual typesetting is the other half. Was wondering if you guys could check this out? Thanks.
  2. Hi, so I've been experiencing this whenever I'm playing a video using ASS subtitles that displays "graphics" on-screen in addition to dialogue subtitles. The Shield TV is a pretty powerful device, but could it be that it lacks the power to display subtitles in sync with playback? I've tried using the mobile apk and it's worse there. Could provide logs if needed.
  3. Hi, so I've been trying out the mobile apk on my Shield TV and the user experience has been very inconsistent quality-wise. A few things that has happened: First frame frozen until I paused and replayed from start (random occurrence, often ASS heavy shows) ASS subtitles on-screen freezes the video until they disappears Pictures loading in slowly making it "laggy" to navigate the home screens Very small show logo and clock in the OSD (not directly topic-related, but anyhow) If log is needed I can go out of my way to create one.

    Some Emby Android bugs

first ones the video themes. It seems that it plays the actual video instead of playing it in the background example:- Screen_Recording_20210412-033132_Emby.mp4 next ones the subtitles. For some reason, when you initially start a video, the subtitles tend to look very oddly generated but a quick restart of the app fixes it examples initially starting a video (the opening/intro subtitles gets jumbled up too) after a quick restart of the app This ones again with the subtitles. Sometimes, the complex styled subtitles tend to glitch out and never show up (the dialogues do show up after this specific opening) example Screen Recording 20210412-035313 Emby-1.mp4 sample video https://mega.nz/file/wkAwBJSQ#9XZtCTDzdnsxnC0baqmBHfMnn7jVV3ya7wBvNsYyQJY (skip by 10 seconds) I ran all the videos listed above in galaxy s10
  5. I have quite a lot of shows that have ASS Subtitles in them. But the problem is that when I enable them my server immediately jumps to transcoding. Which sacrifice quite a lot of video quality. I have noticed that It does not do that in the mobile version.
  6. and no i doubt its the subtitle itself since it appears perfectly sized in other players
  7. well the title explains HOW ITS MEANT TO BE SEEN HOW ITS SEEN THROUGH A BROWSER LOG FILEffmpeg-transcode-2e5de3da-59ec-4e6e-87fe-0c9abef5ea0c_1.txt in the "Processing Plan", in the "SubtitleBurnIn" part it says "false" for burning subtitles but i have this option disabled
  8. Hi there, I'm new to Emby, switching over from Plex, and I run in a little problem. 1. As soon as I try to play a file with embedded ass / ssa subtitles, either on the web app or on my shield, it triggers a transcode. 2. Ok, assuming that the format isn't supported a transcode is ok, but why isn't the hw engine used? My CPU consuming runs up to 100% and this shouldn't occur while using hw transcode. (I checked the hw transcoding engine to VA API and added the emby user to the video group.) 3. As i tried to swich the audio language, from english to japanese, on this file on my shield it endures a lot of time to swich over and then something strange happend. When i paused the stream the video goes in paus mode, the japanese audio stream goes on hold but suddenly i can hear the english audio stream without a picture. The only way to stop it was to kill the emby app on the shield and to kill the server on my synology cause it still runs at 100% CPU. 4. Is it possible to preset the wished audio and subtitle stream on the shield app? So, sry, if i screwed it up but i am little bit confused now. Oh, by the way, if I started this topic in the wrong subforum feel free to relocate. Thx.
