Emby started suddenly tossing up the Emby Premiere sign-up screen when I try to to play anything via a web browser on my Xbox One. I'm running Emby Server 4.4.0.40 on Windows 10, and viewing on an Xbox One, connecting to my local server using the built-in Edge browser. The logs before being locked out of playing say I was viewing on App: Emby Mobile 4.2.1.0Xbox One And after, it's App: Emby Mobile 4.4.0.40Xbox One I've done a hard reboot of the Xbox, and have restarted my server. I've looked at the server release notes between those two versions the closest thing I can see to this change is "Add web app splash screen to provide user feedback in case of long loading times" in v. 4.3.0.26. Is this an intended change, or a mishap?

Sometimes, I need to download a media (say, a movie) in advance but whenever I click the "Download to...", the drop down list only shows my phone but not the device I'm trying to download to (and that I'm actually connected to for the download). For example, I connect with my admin account on Firefox on my mac, choose a media and when I click "Download to...", I can only choose iPhone rom the list. Tried to click "Download" so it might trigger something and add the current device in the Download to list but no joy. Can you help?

Hello, I'm experiencing another of my ISP's discontinuities. I can use the Emby DLNA appbut the thought occurred to me, "If I can run the Emby GUI on my dedicated server laptop, I should be able to run it on my TV's browser app at the same address.m And so I can. My question is this: will I lose anything by using the TV's WebOS browser instead of Google Chrome on my laptop? What about HEVC? My guess is, since DTS initiates transcoding, x265 is not supported. Wrong. I watched some of a movie in HEVC, so at least some play. Just watched another with HEVC and HDR. TrueHD 7.1 failed, however. Also, HDR did not trigger the TV's 'HDR Picture Mode'/'Cinema Home.' I had to change screens manually. Right now the biggest drawback seems to be the WiFi (hidden SSID may be an issue) seems to be kind of variable in speed, i.e. busy circles when browsing and starting sometimes happens. Thank you.

When I try to watch content in the browser, the playback is stuttering and impossible to watch. The stats for nerds says it is DirectPlaying (which i expect) and when i watch from the file in VLC it works properly. (see below) I ran a test at 11 Aug 2021 at 11:40 (UK BST). The server is installed on Unraid (Linuxserver docker) and running version 4.6.4.0. Not sure what other information I need to help but would like to be able to use the server for content again embyserver.txt

Hi Everybody I looked for it a bit, but unfortunately I wasn't able to find it. I'm looking for the list of codecs and file formats that each browser can read by DirectPlay and ones causing DirectStream. I need these because I use Emby at home and I only play my stuff on my TV that support almost everything but not my computer (when I'm in my bed) that plays via browser (Chrome). Is there someting there that I missed ? The best solution would be a compatibility matrix like that Video Codec Sound Codec Playing x264 MP3 DirectPlay x264 AAC DirectPlay x264 DTS DirectStream x265 all Transcode Cause, untill now, when I download someting, I re-encode Audio with AAC, and video to x264 to ensure DirectPlay will occur, but is there a better Audio Codec ? No matter the bandwith here, cause all plays occur via LAN or WiFi... Many thanks for your answers

Using the Colibri browser, I logged into Emby using the remote (wan) access and am ported to the Theater session with the very nice Theater visual screen however, when I open Music, the list of options I get are: Suggestions Albums Album Artists Artists Playlists Genres Although my session is considered Emby Theater, I'm using Linux Mint 20, Colibri browser. If I use Chomium or Firefox from the same system and remotely log into Emby, I get ported to the same Theater session, however I do see the "Songs" option however I also get the same visual theme (Dark theme) that I get when logging in locally, not the Theater visual I get using Colibri. Server log attached. embyserver.txt

Hi I have one library for my downloaded youtube videos with several folders (for every youtube channel one) Because they are youtube videos there is no metadata from moviedb or other and one frame is taken as prev. Very warped with the default view. Because of that i went to setting and choose the view "thumb" image 1 But this is not used for the subfolders for each channel and i dont want to go through 100ths of folders and set it in every folder manually. Can i set this as default for the whole library. The second thing is do i need to click sth that the prev images are rendert? because some of the videos do have prevs but others not and it isnt rendering at the moment. Thanks

Hey guys @@softworkz, Currently I am having issues playing media on devices which need transcoding to play the file. E.g my Oneplus 5T phone manages to direct play x265 encoded files and Emby works like a charm for that device. However when I try to watch on a notebook or PC which needs to transcode the x265 into x264 the video never starts or just stops after a few seconds. I restarted the emby server and the whole windows server multiple times but that does not solve the problem. I attached the server logs for you. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-ee2800e7-7a19-4344-b5ba-a7306af79f88_1.txt

Hey guys, I am currently having an issue with audio playback while streaming over an internet browser. I tested it on Opera, Chrome, Firefox and Edge, it is all the same. My problem is that I get no audio in some episodes of a show e.g. The Mandalorian season 1 episode 4-8. When I start watching these I have absolutely no audio, but when I exit the playback and again start it at a different point in the episode the audio works fine. The strange thing is that this does not happen for episodes 1-3. They just work fine. Also this issue does not occur when I download the episodes and watch them with e.g. VLC player, neither do they make any problems with the Emby app for Android or iOS. I saw a thread where the same problem was solved with disabling Intel QuickSync but as this issue also occurs on AMD machines I do not assume it is the same solution for me aswell. I rotated the server logs, watched an episode that works fine and then watched an episode that has these issues. The files are attached. Thank you for your support. FFMPEG Log.txt Emby Log.txt

I've noticed that in both the latest Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers that Emby performs a transcoding process instead of direct play to these browsers. These browsers have supported VP9 for some time now and in fact websites like YouTube have been sending direct VP9 streams to users for well over a year now. I would like to know if this is something that we can get fixed? I have found VP9 to be far superior when it comes to 4K content than H264 and it doesn't make sense to transcode VP9 for browsers when the browsers already support VP9

I recently downloaded Emby (love the software) and its great. Works just like I expected to stream mkv anime files. Everything worked perfectly for about a week and then not so much. All of my media players, Roku, Opera (on computer), Firefox (on computer), Chrome (on computer), and my DLNA Smart Tv does not work. Specifically whenever I try to play a file on the Roku (the roku 3) it tries to transcode then just hangs (the green bar loading bar disappears). I cannot access the DLNA via my Smart Tv. Whenver I try to play via any of my browsers I get the "no compatible streams" message for every one (pictures attached). The only device I own that seems to work is my Galaxy Note 5 through the Emby app. It works perfectly through there. As I test I converted an anime file (one specifically is 10bit down to 8bit) and that works no problem. But it still makes no sense because the other files worked just fine when I first installed Emby. Basically, I need to figure out if I need to convert all my files or if there is another issue on the server I am not aware of. Not sure if I gave enough information but I also attached the logs for server and transcode. Hopefully this helps. HI, I recently started to stream audio from the Emby server to a dlna speaker, using the web interface for selecting audio files. (Application version: 3.5.3.0 Linux platform) The music is playing but the browser does not show any media player buttons. Leaving me unable to do anything like stopping the playing file or fast forward or change volume. You do not see what is playing and have no control. Playlist also do not function. You can start it, but it will play only one single file. (not the total list) I see this behavior in all my “different” browsers (laptop, phone, tablet). Is it “a work in progress” or should it function like the video playback? Regards Fire

Hi, I was testing which was the best browser for Emby and during my test I've encounter an issue with Safari. It seems that I can't see any content with Safari. It keeps showing me this message : No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details. So my first guess is that transcoding is not enable but everything seems ok for me. I was testing that on the latest version of MacOS and my server is under Docker latest Emby image. Does anyone have the issue ? Thanks

Good evening, I've run into an issue when accessing and watching media from a web browser, and didn't find a similar topic when searching the forums. At seemingly random times, whatever video file is playing will freeze on the screen. At that point, none of the controls on the screen work other than to hit the back arrow and get out of the video. If I attempt to Resume the video, it will spin like it's trying to start it, but it won't start and I'm forced to close the browser completely. Once I restart the browser and get back in, the same media file will resume normally. This has happened both when connecting from an external IP address and on the local network. I have only encountered this issue when playing in browsers (specifically Chrome, Firefox, and IE), not in other device apps. @@Luke, I am sending a PM right now with my full log file from today. The two time periods I know this occurred today are in the 2018-04-13 11:12 to 2018-04-13 11:18 time frame and the 2018-04-13 17:22 to 2018-04-13 17:28 time frame in the log. Thanks for any help figuring this out. -Rohanaj

What Web Browser is Emby best optimal and recommended to be used with to stream media, live tv and local files? I personally use Opera as my primary browser. But i feel Emby seems to be a bit quicker, smoother and video looks a tad sharper when using MS Edge browser. I have found that Opera, Edge, and also the Win 10 Store App will only Transcode Live TV though. I tried the new FireFox Q.....and its horrible. Freezes like crazy. Is there any real quality difference in using the Win 10 app vs any particular web browser?

Hi Folks, I am using Emby for a while now and I really enjoy it for DVD playback - I have digitised all of my DVD library which works great. I have recently moved on to my BluRay library and I am noticing a playback issue using the browser as a player, I also have an emby app on an android TV box and notice the same issue. The server Emby is on is purpose built CPU: AMD FX 6300 Hexa Core Processor 3.50GHz RAM: 32 GB OS: Currently Windows 10, Planning to switch to Server 2016 Storage: OS Disk 500GB SSD 500meg Read 500meg Write (where Emby is installed) Video Storage Disk 1+2 8 TB HDD 7200 RPM 128meg cache The MKV's from the BluRays are usually circa 30GB in size I will say that I am extremely new to emby and video stuff in general so I am not sure what info is useful and what's not. The settings on emby are defaults as per the installation. One thing I noticed when playing the Blu Ray files from Emby is the Network usage shoots up on the emby server - Not sure if its expected/normal or if I need to consider NIC teaming The other thing I noticed is if I sit and suffer the freezes (and there are lots) usually mid way through the movie it will stop freezing and/or happen less frequently unless you rewind or fast forward. Does anyone have any setting recommendations I could try just to rule out simple stuff?? I have done all the usual host stuff such as ensure power management is not switching off stuff, all drivers are up to date, disk read/write is fine and tonnes of space for the temp/cache directory. Any/All suggestions greatly welcome Also if there are some logs I can provide to help, or do a debug during playback, just tell me what and Ill get it done. Cheers M

Just so it doesn't get lost, as mentioned on post #120 (and others nearby) here https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/49217-just-a-little-fun/page-6 It would be nice if a few settings, such as remembering themes, selecting/defaulting to thumbs (or banners etc) instead of posters in movie, TV, etc libraries could be saved in the server and not web pages, where they can be forgotten if caches are cleared.

OK so I am really stuck, I have been using media browser and gamebrowser for years now and love it. I finally thought it was time to upgrade to media browser 3 but now I can’t get gamebrowser working at all. I have been through the tutorial and I am pretty sure I have done everything right. I have also been though the forum and found no answer to my problems. First I wanted to use media browser classic for went though the set up for that. I have got it to the point where i can see the all my games but I get an error when i try and run them. "An unknown error prevented this game from launching" "An unknown error prevented this game from launching" I’ve tried all of these steps stop server delete library.db delete servers GameBrowser.xml delete all .xml files contained anywhere in your game libraries delete MBC GameBrowser.xml start server re-add all game directories to the Gamebrowser server dashboard config wait for scan to complete launch MBC configurator and add emulators to the various platforms. Play game. But I still get the same error. I am pretty sure my folder structure is ok. So after trying many times to get it working, I thought I would try in media browser theatre but i have another issue there and that is when I try to set up the external player it won’t let me select a system when I press on the + or – is does nothing. I could really use some help with if anyone has any ideas? I have also attached some screenshots. Thanks

I was able to install and run a docker version in another mint 18, just a few days ago. Now I'm install and run the container, it says it's running, but I can not open in the browser. I also noticed that /usr/local/bin/emby-server changed compared to the other mint install. I'm kinda noob in Docker, so sorry if I did not post more info.

I am spending loads of time in front of Emby web, always tinkering here and there. I am often wondering if some browsers performs better (or worse) at handling Emby. Also, are there any browser settings that can help performance? A ton and-a-half of data must be accessed by browsing in there. This has to be resource-intensive, hence my question about fine tuning the browser. For the time being, I prefer to use Firefox.

This probably is simple, and has to be done. There are lots of screens in Emby that DON'T update the browser title bar. That leaves some outdated info in title bar when we go browsing Emby. In general... what I've noticed: - Screens of Server Management updates the title bar - Movie/Episode screen updates the title bar - Several screens of "Emby Home" panel doesn't updates the title bar - Choosing a library doesn't updates the title bar - Changing tabs in Home doesn't updates the title bar - Choosing Metadata Manager doesn't updates the title bar - Choosing Reports doesn't updates the title bar
