Hi, I'm running Emby server in a TrueNAS Core[1]. I'm not using the community-driven plugin-based jail[2]. Rather, I ran the TrueNAS setup commands, found here, which setup an empty jail. The server's up and running. However, it's not at the latest version. The dashboard page shows this at the top: The link for the latest version take you to the downloads page, which, for TrueNAS, takes you back to the same installation page link included above. Note that the command to install was run several days after the official 4.8 release. I haven't found any commands to upgrade an existing Emby instance from within its own jail, other than trying the pkg update and pkg upgrade commands, from this other thread. This is my system's output: root@emby:~ # pkg update && pkg upgrade Updating plugin-default repository catalogue... plugin-default repository is up to date. All repositories are up to date. Emby Server on TrueNas not allowing hardware transcoding after update
thekingpin posted a topic in Linux
Hi, My GPU is not longer shown under hardware transcoding after the update to 4.8.9.0. After rolling back to 4.8.8.0 the GPU is available again. The logs are from 4.8.9.0 and the hardware is being recognised. Nothing else has changed. Screenshots showing the hardware are from 4.8.8.0 and without are from 4.8.9.0 hardware_detection-63863228778.txt embyserver.txt -
Emby Subtittles on 4.8.8.0 Completly Broken - Server on Truenas Core
MWint posted a topic in General/Windows
Hey Everyone, I have encountered a very strange bug today on the Emby server, I'm not sure if it was caused by some updates I have not kept an eye on when updates have been happening to say for sure. My subtitles are completely broken for some reason, out of nowhere in the middle of a media stream the subtitles stopped working for everything. the subtitles strangely "work" on Android if they already exist, it's the only place that I could get some subtitles working, but on the web, it will not load, no matter what, click off, then reactivate, change the subtitle if it has other, nothing work. strangely enough, the server will not change any indexing of subtitles, if I delete some, or add, I can refresh or scan the changes in subtitles will not get caught and will not be added/removed. I tried to add a new movie to see if there was some problem with the scan and it worked perfectly, got indexed right away, got all the names, etc, it was only the subtitles that were completely ignored if they were never there... even using the open subtitles plugin, I can search and download it, it goes to the folder but Emby never recognizes it. I truly don't know how to proceed, I have rolled back some snapshots from 2 days ago (the error started today so it should have worked) I have restarted, used the restore of the Emby server config, shut down, and powered up, deleted open subtitles plugin(just in case, who knows...). as this doesn't show any obvious error on the logs I don't know which one I should Attach here. and FYI, My System is a Truenas Core 13.0 Stable Running on an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G, 64GB RAM, with the Jails on SSD and the data on an HDD Array, The Emby server is the Plugin of the Community tab emby-server-stable running on a jail 13.1-RELEASE-p9, and the version of the server is on 4.8.8.0. If someone has something to add to this or any questions I would answer as soon as possible. I really appreciate any help you can provide.- 11 replies

Hello emby Team, my setting: 2024-06-24 03:09:44.236 Operating System: FreeBSD 13.1-RELEASE-p9 n245429-296d095698e TRUENAS OS/Process: x64/x64 Emby Server version: 4.8.8.0 Operating system: Unix 13.1.9.0 my problem: Since updating to X, all new audio and video files are not indexed. After the update the version is 13.1-RELEASE-p9 but should be 13.2-RELEASE-p11. It looks to me like the Emby Server version: 4.8.8.0 update doesn't work on FreeBSD 13.1-RELEASE-p9. A workaround could be a manual update of FreeBSD via the jail shell, but this hasn't worked for me so far. my question: 1. Can someone with TrueNAS experience tell me the necessary shell commands so that I can update the BSD 2. Can the team update the jail so that a current BSD is installed during an update and the errors no longer occur? thanks for answers!

Hello all, First, thank you to everyone that has come before and documented their issues and solutions as it has all helped me greatly in the last year that I've been using Emby. That said, I've recently decided to move away from my current NAS solution that is running my Emby install, a QNAP TS-453D, to a custom TrueNAS Scale build with some hardware I had leftover from my last gaming PC Build. I picked up a couple pieces of hardware to make the setup run better, or so I thought. I picked up an IBM M5110, a dual 2.5G NIC, and a used Nvidia Quadro K1200. All the hardware was installed and TrueNAS is recognizing everything there so that does not seem to be the issue per se. I installed Emby through the available Apps Catalog and the setup went easy enough and the installation did allow me to pass the recognized GPU through to Emby. The problem I'm running into is that Emby is failing to load the hardware correctly so the Quadro is not appearing in the Transcoding options menu. I've attached the last copy of the Hardware detection log where it says, "Failed to open the drm device /dev/dri/renderD128" Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thanks hardware_detection-63798828601.txt

So today i tried setting up my Emby instance and it didnt went well... I am using truenas scale and emby inside a application (kubernetes + docker i think) and the files are softlinked to a directory inside emby from my smb share, they show up, but not inside emby thats the weird thing. With ls /home/movies everything shows up but inside emby when i triy to add the library nothing shows up. I also put the files there with FTP and then it worked but i want to be able to just drag and drop them from my smb to emby. Thanks in advance! :D (The pictures are inside the pod shell and the video is the "setup" shown, sry for german words and smth like that) 2022-06-24_18-42-43.mkv

Hi, guys. I am using Emby on my TrueNAS system. I could see my movies on Emby, but when I try to play them, it showed "Playback Error: No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details." I have tried many many methods, and I don't solve it yet. My server log is attached. Is there anybody who could help me? Thanks.

Hello, I know this is a common issue from what I've read. Various cases but none seem like mine. Had Emby running on a TrueNAS box working fine for ages, installed via truenas plugin. I upgraded my heatsink and that's when the issue started weirdly enough. ""No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details." I get this when I try to play anything. I've rebuild the Jail a few times and I've done a ton of reading, including logs, but I have no clue. My media files play fine from various devices via the nas share Emby is just a jail so it's not accessing files over LAN. I've attached my log, but I see no errors that even give me a clue. Any help is appreciated sirs ffmpeg-transcode-f57edcf6-bbb1-437d-89e2-2e9e18006075_1.txt
