    Live TV, Emby, and Roku

Emby Server Version 3.2.8.0 Running on Ubuntu 16.04.2 TV Server HDHomeRun Connect IP 192.168.1.9 TVHeadEnd Version 4.0.9 Storage WD My Cloud 4 TB Roku version 2 With the above setup, I am trying to get Live TV running through my Roku. I want to get not only live TV, but also DVR/PVR capabilities so I can record from TV (mostly sports games). I have already gotten Emby server loaded onto my Ubuntu server and it is running just fine. I know this because I have may movies on the WD device and can watch them from Emby through Roku and also Kodi (Kodi is beyond the scope of this post, I am just mentioning it to let you know Emby is working. Though Emby, I can watch Live TV through Kodi.). Through Roku, I go to the Emby channel and I go to "Live TV" and it is blank (no icon or pictures like under "Movies". The attached Picture is from my TV. When I click on the Live TV icon, it just does a "Clunk Clunk" like it is going into it, but nothing happens. Please offer me any suggestions on how I can get this working! Thank You, Mike LaPointe
  2. Server = linux debian install Client = Win 10 theater app I can schedule recordings, and I see .ts files created, but playback only results in a cover-art displaying and no sound. Live TV works and can play, pause, rewind and fast forward. Recording shows do not show in the "recorded" category until after they are complete. Once completed, they display in the recorded category, and they can be selected to play - however at that point, only the coverart shows up on the screen and there is no sound.

  4. I was just wondering if it will ever be possible to have live TV supported with full dvr control and an nice EPG supported from within the Emby Samsung TV application. Although I love the new look and feel of Emby Theatre for Windows 10, I just don't see the need to have individual HTPC boxes in the rooms when I can just run one very powerful server and just plug my TV's into the network. Currently running windows 10 enterprise, ported a version of WMC into it and have the Ceton Infinitv 6 for cable card use. What are your thoughts?

    Transcoding recorded OTA

I have been running for quite some time now with no issues but it seems, maybe since the last update, that everything that is DVRd via my OTA is being transcoded all of a sudden. Sonarr and movies still play Direct, just things that I DVR. I'm running FreeNAS V3.0.5913.0 and the client is Android TV 1.1.76g. I'm using the built in DVR system. I have attached a transcode log and the server log. Thank you! server-63596793600.txt transcode-a4c3b34d-1e28-rf34-8b05-c9be974babe1.txt

    Emby DVR file playback quality

So I have been trying to get the best DVR/Live TV solution using Emby and HD Homerun. The improvements and updates have been awesome. So thank you for that. My current workflow is this: HDHomrun Prime > Server hosting Emby > Client (Windows 10) This works great for live tv, de-interlacing, all the good stuff. However once I playback DVR recordings in Emby I have interlacing issue. My DVR workflow is as follows: HDHomrrun Prime > Emby > MCE Buddy > Comskip > merge commercial removed files to .ts file with no re-coding. Then playback the recording on Emby via the Library. This allows for commercial removal and quick turn around. However the playback in Windows 10 client is showing an interlacing issue. The mediainfo report is showing scan type as interlaced but Emby does not de-interlace. So all 1080i footage looks bad, however livetv version of the same channel looks good. 720p looks good all around. This is the same with just standard Emby recorded files without using MCE Buddy. When I put the .ts files in Plex (sorry didnt want to say it), they playback just fine. Is it possible that Emby is not detecting the interlacing? Or that the Win 10 client is not respecting it? Let me know you have any questions. Again thank you. O, I also made custom icons for all channels so it looks cleaner on the interface. They are attached, if you want em. Thanks again, your work is top notch. So happy I can get rid of WMC. transparent.zip

    New Episodes Not Being Recorded

I'm running beta - Version 3.0.5724.3 Everything was working fine, then I noticed this week that new episodes of my shows aren't recording. When I checked the "scheduled" tab, much to my surprise there wasn't much(There wasn't House Hunters International - it was added then I realized I had an issue): As you can see, "Review" is not scheduled...I went into the guide and scheduled it but when I did it seemed like I was scheduling it for the first time as the "record series" was unchecked, etc. I scheduled it and when I went back to series there was two series scheduled. I did not check all the days thinking that was maybe part of the issue. I then went back to scheduled and checked for the Review... Now you can see it's scheduled. This is the case with all of my shows, I'm removing each series now and re-adding and there starting to re-appear in scheduled. Before I remove and re-add I'm going to reboot my computer, I've already tried rebooting the server and it hasn't made a difference. Any suggestions? I'll grab logs and attach if I have them.

    CableCARD DVR and Live TV

Now that Microsoft has officially killed WMC in Windows 10 + ... A true replacement for WMC must eventually incorporate its DVR / Live TV functionality. Is there any chance Emby Theater will be that WMC replacement? SiliconDust (HDHomeRun) are KickStarting a CableCARD DVR device+"app" -- could such functionality be accessed from within Emby Theater at some point? I anticipate being able to use my Windows 7 Cinema PCs running WMC for the next 5 years; after that (or after 8 years with Win8.1), the television part of the Cinema PC Experience will necessarily change. Can Emby Theater become the cornerstone of such an experience?

    Live TV for IPTV Set-Top-Box

Hello, First post to the Emby forums so I apologize if this is the wrong place... I've been exploring replacing my Plex setup with Emby but am a little stuck. Unfortunately I'm a little new to the media hosting/streaming world so I have a feeling what I'm trying to do is possible, I'm just not asking Google with the right words. Here's what I'm trying to accomplish: Live-stream my IPTV set-top-box. A friend of mine with a fairly robust Emby setup does this wish his Comcast Cable and ServerWMC. Is there a way I can get the same level of control with my IPTV set top box (ADB 2721wx)? HDHomeRun was my first thought, but it looks like that won't support it. I've seen some hints that SlingBox might be able to do it too. Surely there is some hardware that can facilitate this. I have unlimited cloud storage that I'm able to map as a Local Drive on my server... it just thinks it's another disk albeit a little bit slower. I would love to be able use that as a DVR and media directory source. I already do it with Plex, and it works decent - a little goofy and touchy, but I'm tweaking some things and it's getting better and better all the time. My guess is that figuring out question 1 would help point me in the right direction, but if anyone has some recommendations I'd love to hear them. If it helps - my ISP is a local company that does everything over fiber. No Comcast/AT&T/Verizon/Dish etc. I really appreciate any help or advice anyone an provide, and sorry for the n00b question. Cheers! -Bowmaster
  10. MediaBrowser3 is the first solution that I can really see replacing Windows Media Center. But my biggest need is still the ability to record TV off of my CableCard PC. I'm not much of a TV archivist. I pick a few shows, record them, watch them when I have time, and delete them. I also need to be able to record sports. Media Center is adequate for this, but I'm sure everyone here knows the limitations, performance issues, and bugs associated with WMC (especially movies). CableCard and Content Protection restrictions may be a deal breaker, but thought I'd request this. Maybe there is a way to create an interface that appears to be MediaBrowser3, but really it is just controlling Windows Media Center to get around CableCard and Content Protection issues.
